Subaru had always thought of himself as special to Ram in some way, despite her usual disdain. After all, they had their fair share of moments. One day, when he noticed Ram acting unusually quiet and thoughtful, he assumed it was because of him. Hoping to lift her mood, he approached her, saying, "Hey, Ram, I know you don't admit it, but I can tell you care about me."
Ram glanced up at him, her expression cold and unamused. "Don't flatter yourself," she replied. "I was thinking about Rem, not you." Subaru's face flushed with embarrassment as he realized that her quiet mood had nothing to do with him at all. He had completely misread the situation, and Ram's deadpan rejection felt like a slap in the face.
Trying to make a quick exit, Subaru turned around too quickly, slipping on a patch of ice near the kitchen. He flailed wildly before crashing into a stack of firewood, which toppled over onto him. Subaru was buried under the wood, utterly humiliated as Ram continued her day without giving him a second glance.
