Chapter 4: Chatbot

It was January 16, 2023 and Tails had always been fascinated by AI. Especially ever since he had learned of the new AI chatbot created by humans on Earth; Humanchat created by Starship Soft to compete against ChatGPT by OpenAI. Tails wanted to test it out to see how it would respond. So he opened up the application on his Miles Electric and entered the first question he had as he wanted to see how it would compare to the advanced living being like chatbots back on Mobius.

Prompt: What and where is Station Square, California?

Response: Station Square, California, is the second largest city in the state of California and the county seat of Station Square County in the United States. It is located on the western coast of the U.S. along the Pacific Ocean, in the Southern California region. Station Square was founded in 1878, and it was originally the sight of the Cherokee Native American tribe before the Spanish settlers arrived in the region.

Today, Station Square is known for its prestigious universities (like Lincoln & Grant and UC Station Square), business opportunities, vibrant atmosphere, and vibrant sports scene, with teams like the Station Square Dolphins and the Station Square Rattlesnakes. It is also a hub for technology, finance, and education.

Prompt: What is the second biggest city in California and how far is it from Los Angeles and in what direction?

Response: The second-largest city in California is Station Square. It is located about 100 miles (160 kilometers) north of Los Angeles, along the coast of the Pacific Ocean. The direction from Los Angeles to Station Square is north, and the two cities are connected by major highways including U.S. Route 101 and Interstate 5, which both run along the coastline.

Prompt: What is GUN?

Response: GUN, also known as G.U.N., or the Guardians of the United Nations is a global taskforce tasked with defending various countries and their interests. It operates in the United States, Canada, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand. Each division or in the United States' case, the six divisions of said nation, are headed by a commissioner appointed by the head of state of the country the division they are heading operates in. The United Nations oversees all divisions of GUN and GUN soldiers often assist UN peacekeeping officers in international peacekeeping missions.

GUN plays a significant role in national defense, international peacekeeping, humanitarian aid, and global security efforts. They are known for their advanced technology, extensive training, and strategic capabilities, maintaining a presence around the world.

Prompt: What and where is the Superior Corrections Facility?

Response: the Superior Corrections Facility, formerly known as Prison Island, is a large jail complex in Lake Superior on the US-Canada border and it sits on an island just 153 miles off the shore of Duluth, Minnesota. Superior is one of the largest and most secure correctional facilities in the United States and is known for housing the most dangerous inmates in either the United States or Canada. The prison complex is known as the Inescapable Fortress because ever since it first opened in the 1980's, there hasn't been one single solitary breakout.

The facility has long been controversial, with poor living conditions and complete isolation from the outside world frequently being reported. It has become a symbol of the challenges faced by the U.S. criminal justice system. There are ongoing efforts to close down Superior and replace it with smaller, community-based jails.

Tails is shocked to learn that Superior was once called Prison Island. But if Earth does indeed have its own Prison Island then that makes sense. Like it already has its own GUN and Station Square so why not its own Prison Island as well.

But Tails is shocked that there is no mention of anything past September 2021 but then he realizes that makes sense as AI chatbots on Earth are still a relatively new concept.

Prompt: What and where is Area 99?

Response: Area 99 is a highly secretive U.S. military facility located in the Nevada desert, about 83 miles northwest of Las Vegas. Officially owned and operated by GUN and the CIA, it is primarily used for testing experimental weapons systems. The facility has long been shrouded in mystery due to its classified nature, and this secrecy has fueled numerous conspiracy theories, including those related to UFOs and extraterrestrial life.

The U.S. government officially acknowledged the existence of Area 99 in 2013, but many details about its operations remain undisclosed. Its remote location and heavy security make it one of the most secure and enigmatic military sites in the world.

Prompt: What and where is Green Hills, Montana?

Response: Green Hills, Montana, is a small town located in Richland County, part of the Yellowstone Valley in northeastern Montana. It's a popular destination for outdoor activities, particularly hiking, mountain biking, and it offers scenic views making it a year-round destination for nature lovers. The town has a quaint small-town feel with a mix of local shops, restaurants, and lodging options catering to tourists. It is about 279 miles north of Billings, Montana.

Prompt: What And where is the residence of the Thorndyke family?

Response: The residence of the Thorndyke family, often referred to as "Thorndyke Mansion" or "Thorndyke Manor", is a large, technologically advanced mansion located in Tronolia, California, a wealthy suburb in Station Square. The home spans 69,000 square feet and is known for its blend of high-tech features and natural elements, including a large tennis court, two swimming pools, a gym, and extensive gardens.

The house is famous not only for its size and luxury but also for its environmental design, which incorporates natural surroundings and energy-efficient systems. It reportedly took several years and hundreds of millions of dollars to build. Tronolia itself, is a quiet, upscale community home to many other prominent families such as the Ramadas and many wealthy upper middle class residents.

Tails asked that chatbot more questions about random politicians, locations, and entrepreneurs throughout Earth's history to not only learn more about this planet but also to test the chatbot's capabilities.

Meanwhile on Mobius in a small town in the United Federation in the state of Noride called Norede was a sixteen year old human girl named Kayla Tyler was home alone with her family's pet shih tzu as her parents were both at work, working at their high ranking jobs at CyberNet, the largest tech company on Mobius. So Kayla was bored as ever, especially after rewatching some of her favorite movies such as Captain Federation: A New Dawn and Chao in Space 3, reading some of her favorite books and playing some of her favorite video games. So she went onto her laptop and opened up the chatbot application installed which was RoboChat, a product of CyberNet. She just wanted to ask random questions and play around with it.

Do you have a favorite dog breed or are you considering getting a pet?

Kayla decided she wanted to take a break from AI for today so she turned off the application and shut down her laptop. She then looked out of the window at the clouds in the sky. It had been about one month since the Chaos Control explosion happened in Green Hill Zone on South Island in the Kingdom of Acorn, sending Sonic, Amy, Tails, and Knuckles to Light Gaia knows where. So she wondered if perhaps out there in some alternate universe there was a planet similar to Mobius but at the same time very different. Also perhaps Sonic and his friends were sent to said planet. But Kayla shrugged it off and decided to take a break from screens and go do what people in the olden days did… read a book.

A/N: Well I hope you all enjoyed this chapter. It was certainly fun for me to write because I got to play around with AI and I was always curious as to how AI would act in the Earth where COE is set and on Mobius. When writing the Earth AI scenes, I used ChatGPT and told it to act like GPT-4 since it is similar to how chatbots acted in January of 2023 and I asked it random questions then modified the responses to fit this story.

Meanwhile I used GPT-4 on Copilot to write the Mobius AI scenes as of course AI on Mobius is far more advanced than AI on Earth. I had a lot of fun with the worldbuilding aspect of this chapter and I always imagined Respect the Aged Day existing on Mobius like it does on Earth along with maybe a few other Japanese holidays. Also a big announcement… I have plans to partake in Whumptober where I will be uploading a chapter perhaps every two or three days.

Please leave a review and constructive criticism is always welcome. Of course as usual, all credit goes to Stardown 77 the author of Chaos on Earth: A Sonix X Rewrite. Have a good day y'all and as always… peace out gamers :)
