In the end, they'd all left the Command Center behind, heading back to their various homes so they could rest at the end of the day. Tommy still found himself more than a little worried about what the other Animorphs might do, now that they knew at least one way to hurt the Yeerks as a whole. And so, once he'd made sure that the Controllers playing the role of his foster parents wouldn't be concerned about where he was and what he was doing, Tommy morphed into an eagle and headed back to Cassie's barn.
Once he'd managed to make it back, Tommy found that the rest of the Animorphs had all gathered together there, just the same way they had been when he'd brought Kimberly to meet with them. She hadn't had much to add to the conversation when they'd been discussing what they might be able to do about the Yeerk Pool underneath Century City, so she'd mostly stood quietly in the Command Center while he and the rest of the Animorphs had been discussing that.
Still, it had been kind of nice to have her so close, in spite of that.
Settling in among the rest of his friends and fellow Animorphs, Tommy sat down on a free hay bale and turned to look at Cassie.
"All right, so we're all here now," Marco said, folding his arms as he looked over at Cassie. "So, since it looks like we're not going to have to go back down into the Yeerk Pool, what are we all doing back here?"
"I've been thinking about that man we rescued," Rachel said, standing and making her way to the middle of their group. "His name was George Edelman," she said, turning to Tommy as though she was speaking for his benefit in particular.
Given the way the rest of the Animorphs seemed to have carried out this particular mission without him, Tommy figured that Rachel was just trying to be polite; it was nice, so he thanked her for the effort.
