Chapter 47: Rapid Adaptation
Summary:
Zeryph's squad heads into the Sinister Woods in order to save Caterpie's missing friend. Then, is later contacted by a Jumpluff to help, after Shiftry failed to return from his mission. Leading to the squad's encounter with a Zapdos.
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
I woke up with one helluva migraine, groaning as I held the sides of my head in my hands. My vision flickered rapidly as though glitching out, but steadily began to focus. Three flashes filled the room, then I felt small hands settle onto my head. My migraine steadily began to fade as my vision focused properly.
"Good morning, Chosen." Azelf said softly. "Sorry about your…headache. The fact you're still alive, and this pocket dimension hasn't collapsed…I would say it worked…in fact, it worked very well." I felt for my power, and it was all still there. My stats and everything, nothing was changed. Not that I could tell. "You'll have to learn how to control it, eventually. For now, we've made sure things will function as they did before we cut you loose."
"Yes. One of the Monitors seemed to already know what we were doing." Uxie spoke up. "His last words were to tell you he wished you good luck in your journey."
"I hope you saved him from termination, at least." I finally said.
"We didn't have to. Policy stated that in the event of a universe going rogue, it would not be counted as monitor intervention. So, he's free to continue his work. As it was us and Father taking action to cut you free and set you up." Mesprit said, before smiling. "Now…you have a morning run to take care of, right? Would you mind if we took Mewtwo and Melanie to train for a while?"
"Not at all." I felt the bed shift as Mewtwo began to sit up. "I have a question though…you met me in this time, so…what happens when we go back to our own time? Will you just…magically remember it or something?" I asked. The sisters answered my question with a set of giggles, before nodding.
"And the changes we made will go along with you, too. So there's no need to worry about catastrophic backlash." Uxie said, smiling. "Now, get up. There's training to be done."
She and her sisters slotted into our morning routine very well, taking Mewtwo and Melanie off to meditate, while Lexie and I ran the mountain trail. I had adjusted it to make for a much steeper climb, as it was getting too easy for us with the way it was. Lexie appreciated the change just as much as I did.
Our weights have also been increased, once again. Having seen my memories, the triplets know of how helpful they are to us, and just how much we carry. The moment we drop weights is definitely going to get some great reactions from people or pokemon who see it.
The sisters went on to join us for breakfast, too. The training they were going to do with Mewtwo and Melanie wasn't going to be physical. Rather, they were going to help the pair sharpen their minds. Mewtwo especially, given how much potential he had yet to tap into. They were impressed with Melanie's own power. Her gravity control being as good as it was, especially.
The same can be said for her skill as a healer, especially after what Liz taught her. Speaking of Liz, I kinda wish she'd been able to join us for our mission, but she had to get back to work. After having taken a couple days off for the tournament, and to celebrate with us. It's been a little over a week, and I miss her already. I think we all do, actually.
When I told her I had a mission from Dialga, called her before we left, she didn't need an explanation. Saying only that she'd see us whenever we got back. Question is if Dialga's going to return us to exactly when we left, or, if we'll return at a time that matches with how long we've been here.
From what Dialga has said, though, Ash and his group have gone to start the Orange Islands. Dialga doesn't mind being our means of contact between then and now. Which makes me realize something…"The Power of One." The second movie, Lugia's debut. I really, really hope, that we're back in time for that.
Not just because of Lugia's song, but because of how important that is. Dialga stated that he'd make sure we didn't miss out on that, once I brought it up. Following breakfast, as we headed out into the normal world, Caterpie was waiting for us. He seemed sad, and worried. Apparently, a friend of his, a Metapod, had gone missing.
As he was asking us for help, Gengar's team decided to show up again. I thought Giratina scaring them off would've been enough of a deterrent but I guess not. They not only decided to butt in, but Gengar put forward a little extra incentive. If they got to Metapod first and returned, then they were gonna make Caterpie join them.
I wasn't about to let that happen, of course. "No worries, lil' buddy. We'll get your friend back." I told him. And deal with Gengar's team, but that goes without saying. Which brings us to where we are now. The Sinister Woods, and had I not just come off of getting a huge boost, this place would feel genuinely unnerving. Kalina and Suicune slipped off their weights as I did the same. They wanted to come along, this time, so that Mewtwo and Melanie could focus on training with the sisters.
Still, as I felt for the stage one seal and let it go, my powers returned to their normal state, from before Arceus had gifted me with the stage-seals. This tells me that Stage-one is meant to be my normal power. I could feel the steady drain from the other seals, but it was low enough to not be a problem. They'd stop whenever they were full, of course.
Makes me wonder if I'll be able to recreate something like Night Guy. Even as unlikely as that is, such a technique would be extremely destructive. Same for like Sekizō or Hirudora. Attacks which are far too strong to even begin thinking of using them. In the same sort of sense as Melanie's thoughts on using Chibaku Tensei. We've already seen what happens when she uses Shinra Tensei at full power.
Which brings me to one technique I do want to recreate. Just for the sake of a finisher, or perhaps having something flashy for a contest. Rasenshuriken, which…I don't have to say why I have to be careful with it. It's going to take a long time, figuring out how to make it work. But I mean, if there was a Lucario who could use Sage Mode…even if he was randomly generated. Then I can figure out how to use elemental power with Aura. Perhaps, I could even become a Sage, myself.
The flaring of my power was enough to keep most Pokemon from challenging us. The few who did were easily defeated. There were some who were friendly, including a shop that belonged to the green Kecleon, who welcomed us with a smile.
He didn't have anything we were interested in buying, however. As we already had more than enough supplies. Speaking of which…the Gummis. We haven't been using those, only because we don't need them. Besides stopping at his stores, how he moves and sets up so quick and easy is anyone's guess. Mine is that it works like how my team gets around so fast, but anyway. It didn't take us long to reach the end of the dungeon…forest, where we should find Metapod.
"Hold it right there." I growled when I heard Gengar's voice. I had to turn to face them, because they'd frozen in their tracks. Not because of myself or Kalina, but because of Suicune.
"Is that…one of the Legendary Beasts?" Ekans asked. "We can't possibly hope to-"
"Shut it!" Gengar interrupted him. "We're only here for Metapod. Now…get out of our way."
"That's. Not. Gonna. Happen." I said slowly. My shadow began to shift visibly, as did the shadows around us. I couldn't control them any more than this for now, but it made for a good intimidation tactic. "You had your chance, when we sent you running, to not bother us again. But nooo…you had to go and try, didn't you?" I growled, before channeling Aura into my fists, lighting my hands with green flame similar to how the Smash Bros Lucario does, in Ultimate.
"Don't you realize Fighting-Type attacks won't- GRRK!" I interrupted Gengar, with an extremely strong punch. He reacted in visible pain and surprise, before the force of my hit caught up. Blasting him off his feet and sending him tumbling through the air. The ground cracking under the force of the blast itself.
"What!?"/"He hit him!?" His teammates were too stunned to do anything. Their sheer surprise at the fact I'd been able to punch a ghost having frozen them in shock.
"Hell yeah I did." I growled. "If you're smart, you'll stay out of this. In fact, give up your positions on his team, and walk away. Trust me, it'll save both your lives." I saw Gengar slowly getting up. Were it anyone else, Cursed Body would've shut their abilities off. Not me. Even with the changes as far as the System goes, I'm still immune to stuff like that.
"Impossible. You shouldn't be able to-" *Crack!* The sound of me hitting him across the face with a Bone Rush, interrupted Gengar mid sentence. I saw one of his teeth fly out, with no sign of blood to follow it, since he is a ghost.
"You underestimated me, Gengar. And now you're paying for it." I growled. "This is only my first stage. And you…to me, are nothing but an ant. Wait, isn't that interesting?" I decided to mess with him. "When I look at you with Aura Sense, your soul seems surprisingly…human. I wonder, heh…how you ended up here."
"Shut…up." Gengar hissed. "You don't know…a damn thing, about me."
"Is that so? Heh…I know a lot more than you think. Question is…will we see you in the past? I would assume not, else you wouldn't be a Gengar now."
"The past…? What?" I heard Medicham speak up. She and Ekans hadn't even so much as tried to intervene, as they were smart enough to listen to what I said.
"Yes, the past. Heh…such a different time between then and now, but none of you would understand it. Ya know…there were teams who wanted what you have your eyes on, now. World Domination." I grinned back at her. "But my team and I…? We crushed them like ants. So, take this as your final warning. Back. Off. Or you will be sorry." I reigned my power in, before starting to walk over to Suicune and Kalina. We found Metapod, and together, started to head back.
"I hope they take your warning to heart, boss man." Kalina said quietly. "But I get the feeling that Gengar…isn't going to take it seriously."
"I feel the same. Medicham and Ekans might be smart enough to back off, but I worry about what's gonna happen. When Gengar says or does something he really shouldn't have." Suicune added.
"What worries me is that you might be right." I said. "Given my own knowledge on events here, ah…Gengar's gonna do something so incredibly stupid, that it very well might set me off." We have yet to see if he will or not. I've picked up on some odd things during meditation, Mewtwo has as well. Almost like a Gardevoir trying to call out to us. Not Melanie, of course. Sure I've been slightly irritated before…but with my powers how they are now. I worry what I'll be like when someone finds the trigger that sets off my inner fury.
I was holding back, even with how much power I hit Gengar with. I hope it was enough to get the point across. Because, if he goes and says the wrong thing…I'm not going to be able to stop myself. And though I worry about being corrupted by my power, I know I have people to keep me in check, so I'm not afraid of that. What terrifies me though, is the idea of losing control. Because…Mewtwo and Melanie going shadow was bad enough.
But…but, what if I lose it? What then? As I said previously, it could be like a case of Naruto going Six-Tails. And…given what sort of power I have now…between Void Reaper and the Mega form I have yet to achieve…what happens when it finds a spark? I'm worried for not just myself, but my team, too.
We know we have a contingency plan. Between the Brothers and Arceus. Or the Sisters and their red chain if it really comes to that. But that should be an extreme last resort. As we returned to the village, Mewtwo and Jumpluff were waiting on us. Caterpie was really happy to have Metapod back. And though I wanted to stay and celebrate another job well done, I didn't have the time.
Apparently, Shiftry still hasn't returned from his mission. Indicating that something might've gone wrong. With no time to sit down and rest, I deployed once again. Kalina and Suicune traded out for Alex and Melanie.
Since the pair were flight capable, I could take to the trees and utilize tree hopping to move a lot faster than I could with Suicune and Kalina. Alex had to push himself to keep up, but he didn't seem to mind. Plus, Tailwind made that much easier anyway. As for Melanie, she'd figured out that gravity control allowed her to actually fly. It took a lot of practice for her, but she was able to get it down. She just rarely uses it because it's rather draining if she stays up too long.
We got to Silent Chasm in just a few minutes of travel, much faster than any trip before. I'd learned that using Aura to strengthen my muscles actually helped me move faster, through training. I haven't mastered it yet, but what I've shown so far is a good indication. Plus, Alex using Tailwind meant that we had a constant boost at our backs.
I already planned on having him teach Evan. That would work wonders for his supersonic capabilities. We didn't stop to prepare ourselves, since Shiftry could be seriously injured. So, we weren't wasting any time. The mere sight of us rushing through so fast was enough to keep anything from stopping to fight us.
We didn't see either member of the Nuzleaf pair that was supposed to be with Shiftry, either. I couldn't even sense them. So either he left them behind, or…something much worse has happened.
"He's just up ahead. Keep going." I called out. "Wait…I'm sensing…something else. Whatever it is," I flared up Aura Sight, only to growl and close my eyes, quickly switching it off. "It's strong…very strong. I'm talking Legendary level, here."
"We might be under-prepared." Melanie spoke up. We had our destination in sight, by now.
"Maybe…Alex, take this rift, bring back another squad. Mewtwo and Kaorah would be the best." I tore open a rift with my left hand. Alex was hesitant, but our situation was enough for him to fight through the inherent fear and fly right through. It wasn't long before he returned with Mewtwo, Lexie and Kaorah. Giratina's eyes are always on my team when we're on mission, just in case. Which definitely helps, especially now.
With our reinforcements on-site, we hurried forward into the area where we found Shiftry. He was down and out, but the lack of any loss of blood was a good sign. The fact his life force hadn't faded any was also a very good indication that he'd likely pull through. There weren't any signs of breaks, but he was sporting some bruises.
"Melanie, check on him. Everyone else, get me a perimeter. Alex, get airborne and see if you can spot whatever that Legendary I'm sensing is." I called out orders. I could feel it, the buzzing in the air. My fur standing on end in the presence of powerful lightning. This wasn't like Zeraora…this was much stronger.
We all scattered as a bolt struck from above. Melanie's Force Cloak easily tanked the blast, but she still winced. There was a bright flash, and from within, Zapdos appeared. I could feel his anger, even before he revealed himself. It was strong…very strong. For what reasons, I am unsure. Perhaps Shiftry had accidentally hit him.
I know for a fact, the Zapdos species tends to be very temperamental. No messing around, this time. Four flashes lit up as Melanie, Lexie and Kaorah each crunched a seed. Then Mewtwo let his power flare. All of us dropped weights, the air becoming tense as we entered a standoff.
"Who are you to dare intrude here?!" Zapdos called out, his voice booming like thunder, true to his type.
"I, Zeryph, Chosen of Arceus…am here for that one." I spoke up, as I gestured to Shiftry. Zapdos's eyes widened in surprise, then he lowered himself to the ground and landed. Before bowing his head in respect.
"My…apologies, Chosen one. I didn't realize it was you." He spoke much more softly now. "But it does not excuse that one, for nearly hitting me with that wave of wind."
"It was an honest to Arceus accident." I said softly. "He doesn't have the same sensing powers as myself or someone on my team. So he couldn't have known you were in the area."
"I…yes, you're right." Zapdos sighed. "But, I will not apologize, as he did strike first, even accidentally." There's that pride, can't really be surprised by it. Especially since it is a Zapdos we're dealing with. I wonder why this area doesn't have a Lugia anywhere, since they usually keep the Legendary Birds in line. "Chosen One, you may take him. On one condition, seek out Mt. Thunder…face me in battle. I wish to test the strength of you, and your team, for myself."
"A challenge is issued. I accept." I said, before bowing. "We'll be seeing you when we find the time. Legends are truly worthy opponents."
"That we are. I shall be waiting." Zapdos rose into the air, crying out with a screech accented by a crack of thunder. Before, he disappeared in a flash of light.
My team and I began to relax, with Alex breathing an audible sigh of relief.
"That was…way too close." The Noivern said quietly. "If you weren't the Chosen One…this could've ended up way worse." Alex landed nearby, softly. I reached out to rub the top of his head, causing him to lean hard into my touch, purring loudly as he did.
"Yeah, but it went better than I thought it would." Honestly, had a fight broken out, it would've been destructive. Especially with how strong Zapdos felt, and how powerful Mewtwo is. "Melanie, take Shiftry back to the village. Alex; you, Lexie, and Kaorah, cover her. Mewtwo, you're with me. We're going to Mt. Thunder." Alex pointed us in the direction we'd need to go in, before he and the girls took off with Shiftry.
Kalina decided she wanted to join us, so Mewtwo quickly teleported back to the village to grab her, then met me at Mt. Thunder. Unlike when we were going in for Shiftry, there was no sense of urgency. Despite how quickly we'd made the trip.
So, we took a more relaxed pace as we began to ascend the mountain. But not before flaring our power so that Zapdos knew we were here. That way, he'd have a little extra time to prepare. We weren't limited to one dungeon per day, like in the game. Which is why we were able to get between so many at once.
As we climbed, Mewtwo and I were going over battle strategies, with Kalina listening to our thoughts on the plan. She would occasionally pitch in when necessary. What surprised me was her decision to ask for a seed. I suppose…given what it did for Cerise and Lexie…it would work for her, too.
As we reached the summit, we had to dodge an attack right away. Zapdos didn't waste any time with talk, starting the fight right away. I tossed Kalina a seed, and she caught it in her mouth with a crunch. No time like the present to see if it'll even work on her.
[BGM Suggestion]
[Keith Power- Hunhow, Rapid Adaptation]
A bright flash answered that question. Her mega form was much bigger, covered in heavy armor that covered her head to toe, but left her fins visible. Lights ran along its surface, and despite how heavy it looked, it was sleek…form-fitting, even. She tested her movement, and was able to move as though it was still her normal self.
In fact, she actually seemed much faster. Her tail had changed from its fish-like look, to something longer…more draconic. Ending with a bladed tip. Perhaps the biggest change stuck up from her sides, swiveling to follow where she looked. A pair of energy cannons. A wave of blue light in a honeycomb pattern flickered across her body. Energy shields, perhaps. Her head slowly, robotically, turned to face Zapdos. Then her lights flickered. Brown, beige, icy blue. Almost as though she was adapting just to Zapdos being present.
"Target: Zapdos. Analysis: Complete. Adaptation: Ready." Kalina's voice sounded much more mechanical. Gone was the emotion she once had, in favor of sounding just as mechanical as she looked. "Target Locked, ready to fire." Her cannons charged, before firing off a powerful blast of ice. Zapdos quickly rolled to the side, genuinely worried about the power behind that blast.
"Adjust for target speed. Leading: Set." Kalina's new weapons adjusted. As Zapdos evaded one, he didn't dodge the second, as he was forced to move right into its path. He let out a grunt as his right wing was clipped. "Zeryph, Mewtwo, stand down. Threat analysis states…low tier. I shall handle this alone."
"Kalina…that's not a good-" Mewtwo fell silent as Kaorah used Psychic to quiet his voice for a moment. Her movements were smooth…too smooth. The way she tracked Zapdos's smallest movements was…unnerving to say the least. Almost as though this transformation had turned her into a full robot. Rather than a cybernetically augmented organic like she's meant to be.
Zapdos launched a Thunder Wave. Mewtwo put up a shield to stop it from hitting us, while Kalina shifted to the Ground Type. In fact…she changed before Zapdos even launched it. Almost like she knew he was going to. Sure she was capable of it, before- predictive adaptation. But we've never seen her actually use it. Not like this anyway, that's for sure.
Her cannons however, continued to fire out shards of ice. Which forced Zapdos to fly evasively. Each shot coming dangerously close to being a direct hit. Kalina was missing on purpose…like she's fighting to tire him. Is this some sort of capture program, perhaps?
I watched her cannons close together, then slowly pull back apart, a strand of white material connecting them. It seems to be webbing of some sort, from what I can tell. She then fired them in a staggered pattern. The orbs sent out, broke apart…rapidly spreading into a large net. Zapdos very quickly avoided it, just narrowly missing what would've surely knocked him from the sky.
But this dodge caused him to fly right into a Smack Down. He let out a startled squawk, rapidly descending before painfully crashing. He then found himself being hit with String Shot, which Kalina turned into a very tight wrap. Her optics, a bright glowing red, stared down at him with no emotion at all. Before Zapdos could even try to get free, he was blasted with Spore. He tried to resist, but ultimately gave in. Succumbing quickly to sleep.
"Target: Captured. Awaiting new assignment." Kalina spoke, robotically. It didn't take too long before Zapdos woke up. He hid his fear well, but I could still sense it.
"Keep…her away from me. I fear nothing, outside of very few exceptions. I am not proud of it, but she's one of those exceptions." He said, grumbling. It wasn't long before Kalina powered down, before slowly falling over and clutching at her head and groaning.
"Ugh…my head…what happened?" Kalina asked. Did she black out? "Zeryph? Where's…oh." She saw Zapdos. "I…sorry…I had no idea that would happen."
"No, it's…fine, I suppose. I was hoping for more of a fight, not to be…humiliated." Zapdos broke his bindings then stood up. "Would it be fair to consider this match null? And, rematch each other…properly, in the future?" He asked me.
"Yeah…you've got a point. We shouldn't count it because of that whole mess." I said, and Mewtwo nodded in agreement. He was rubbing his neck in discomfort, Kalina muting him must've been very uncomfortable. Could've even hurt him a little bit. We'll have Melanie check him over once we're back at the village.
Zapdos took off, before vanishing in a flash of bright light, accompanied by the sound of a thunderclap. And as for myself, Kalina and Mewtwo, we started to head home at a slow pace. I'm surprised that Zapdos wasn't angry over losing so easily. But then again, it's not the one from Shamouti Island. It's also possible that, knowing I'm the Chosen, he can't really be mad. Especially since what happened to Kalina had caught us all off guard.
Plus, my agreement to a rematch later probably helped, too. Mewtwo decided to teleport us home, so he could go see Melanie right away. Shiftry was already up and about, even stopping us briefly to thank us for bringing him back safely. His Nuzleaf buddies seemed to be just fine, too. Having revealed themselves not long after Shiftry woke up.
Melanie's right hand lit up with golden light, and she placed it gently against Mewtwo's neck. He winced slightly as she did, before reaching up to rub at the spot once he was able to.
"What happened?" Melanie asked us.
"I did…tried out an Empowerment Seed. It, ah…" Kalina trailed off.
"Her mega form was able to beat Zapdos…on its own." I finished for her. "From what I can tell, her mega form is able to rapidly adapt to any opponent. To the point she can change types before they even launch whatever their next attack is."
"That's…wow. Almost sounds like, hmm…what was it? The Legend Plate?" Kaorah spoke up. She was off to my right, looking over some stuff with Suicune.
"Sort of, only, much more mechanical in nature. There's more than that, of course." I used my magic for an illusion, which I cast on the floor next to myself. Bringing up a copy of what Kalina's mega form looked like. "From what I can tell, her mega form is specialized for capture specifically. Of, not Legendaries, but Ultra Beasts. Which is exactly why she'd beaten Zapdos so easily."
"The closest we've seen to one, so far, is that fusion we fought. The half-Necrozma one." Mewtwo spoke up. "I don't believe Necrozma is actually supposed to be one, either, despite the connection to Ultra-Space."
"Exactly. And the only way we'd know more about Kalina's mega form is to find where she truly originates from. Not our Aether Foundation, and certainly not RKS Labs or Macro Cosmos. The hard part about that, is figuring out where the hell Hoopa pulled her from." Although I'd briefed the brothers on that, they haven't seen any signs…as far as Hoopa acting up goes, anyway.
In fact, the sisters haven't seen any signs, either. They even said as much. Both for where we are now, and back in our normal time. So it could be possible that it's not our Hoopa. But that makes things even worse, really. Because, if it's not ours, then we could be in trouble. Best we can do is have Arceus send a message across space-time to His Aspects. So that they can keep watch, themselves.
On the note of Legends, I had an idea…as far as training goes. It might have to wait for now at least, but it involves the Swords. And their signature, Sacred Sword. I figured that I should learn it, as it'll be better than Bone Rush. And if I can get it right, I'll have it working like Excalibur's Exalted Blade.
Perhaps, I might even be able to combine Sacred Sword with lightning power, in order to wield my own Arcblade. Only, it would be weaker without the Light. Maybe what Arceus has would be a viable substitute. My senses then spiked as something entered my radius. I felt for my Aura, channeling it into my eyes. It was a small light, but the sheer power it put off definitely went against its small size.
It wasn't Victini, going off the color. And, it wasn't Mew, either. As I let the others return to the cabin, I told them I would catch up. I began to slowly move towards the shining beacon, until I was right on top of it…him…them? I dunno…still, the source of power was what looks like a blob. Small, green in color, with a red hexagon-shaped nucleus. A single eye stared up at me, unblinking.
I know exactly what this is, and I find myself wondering…why now? I get the sense that he's only watching, but knowing that Zygarde has his eyes on me is…comforting, maybe? I dunno, but this is only a brief encounter. The Cores are vulnerable, and generally wouldn't just reveal themselves to…anyone, really.
If it's only now that I'm sensing them…then I wonder how in the past/present, Mewtwo hasn't sensed them for himself. Maybe it's only because Zygarde doesn't want to be found. Still…Cores being across all of the regions would explain how he can watch so much at once. A single mind split across…over a hundred units, I think. I don't know the exact count.
The cores being the main ten. If one is here now, then that means there are nine more to be found. Every region will have at least one. Five, as far as Kalos goes, since Zygarde has to keep a construct there at half power, at least. But, I guess we'll see for sure.
With the unexpected sighting out of the way, I moved to catch up with my team. Sitting down for supper. My parents got to see the base portal for themselves, both of them being wowed by the sight of it. I even got to break the news that I'd created it all myself, from-scratch.
I helped them get settled in, following supper. We still had plenty of room, after all, and I can always remodel if we need more. Since I wasn't tired, for now, I decided to fit in a little extra training. Mewtwo decided to join me for it, and the sisters joined us, as well. I decided to tell the girls about my encounter with the Zygarde core. They, and Mewtwo, were surprised by this news.
Uxie said that he might've decided to wake up, after that major incident with New Island and Celadon. That's the most likely reason, anyway. Still, she confirmed that it means- Zygarde is watching us now. With the assurance that he won't actually do anything to us. Unless, of course, we give him a reason to. Such as threatening the balance in any way.
There's that old local legend, about a human and the balance of the world. I asked the sisters about it, and they've pretty much stated that it would take way more than just a team of super powered Pokemon + human to throw it off that bad. Which brings me to the reason for all of the disasters. They're a prelude, sure, but it's not because of the balance. It's because of the giant asteroid that's heading for the planet.
Well, I think it is, anyway. 'Cause it's not Groudon or Kyogre, as Rayquaza would straighten them out. My theory on it is, that asteroid didn't happen randomly. For those who haven't played the Delta Episode, something similar happens there, too. An asteroid being a threat to the planet. It wasn't random, either…because it had someone behind it. And that someone, is an alien Pokemon by the name…Deoxys.
I don't know why they want to do such a thing, whether it's the Delta Episode or Mystery Dungeon…assuming the latter case is a Deoxys. Still, for any number of reasons, they've target this world. Perhaps because of the Space-Time towers, and the brothers. Or maybe because this planet is where the entrance to the Hall of Origin is. Nobody knows for sure, as far as I'm aware, since…I don't think it's ever said why Deoxys wanted to do it.
Still, until the asteroid is here- we won't know for sure. Whether it's a rogue Deoxys or if it is genuinely happening by chance. Wild theories aside, Mewtwo and I focused on our training until we were too tired to continue. At which point, the sisters wished us good night. As we both settled in, we snuggled up together before quickly dozing off.
[Mt. Freeze]
Nine tails slowly waved, brushing small flakes of snow from the air. Each tail adorned with an accessory for each of the types of Libero. A soft feminine voice carried on the wind as the Ninetales hummed to herself. Bright green eyes steadily scanned over the text of an ancient book. A soft smile forming on her muzzle. Her ears twitched at the sound of snow crunching under hasty steps.
"Camilla! You won't believe who I saw!" She heard the sound of someone sliding to a stop nearby. A bipedal feline. She had soft green fur, with a mask on over her face. A neck band held what seemed to be a cape in place on her shoulders. It waved slowly behind her, caught up in the wind. A familiar scarf was wrapped around her neck, and her breath was visible in the cold.
"Sara…what is it now? If it's another one of your tricks, I swear-" Camilla was interrupted.
"No, it's not!" Sara quickly said. "I saw a Pidgeot…but not just any. He had the weight bands on!"
"Weight bands?" Camilla tilted her head, trying to think for a moment. She lifted her right front leg to look at her own. Bands like hers, perhaps? "Did you see…anything else?"
"A Lucario, eyes like ours! Like…his! And, he had the scarf! As in…this one!" Sara's excitement began to grow. She held up her scarf. A gift she had cherished for many, many years. "You know what that means, right?"
Camilla fell into stunned silence. There was only one bloodline in the entire world with eyes like theirs. A line as Legendary as some of the most powerful Pokemon to ever live. If Sara wasn't just making up nonsense, then…
"Grab our brother, and pack the bags. We're going to the village, yesterday." Camilla ordered, hopping up onto her paws and quickly hurrying into a nearby cave for her own bags.
"What? Wait…don't tell me…it's-" Sara was interrupted.
"That's why we've gotta go! Now, move it! Before that nonsense gets spread to the village. You know they'll believe it, too. We can not let it be used against him…you know the stories of his fury. Someone lies about our bloodline and he's gonna be very unhappy." Camilla had some assistance with her bags from her larger, older brother. A Garchomp with a scar over where his left eye used to be. He'd lost it as a Gabite, years ago. Defending some younger Pokemon from a group of Beedrill. He'd fought them off, but it cost him. His grandmother, he was not. They all knew she could've decimated that swarm without a scratch.
He never spoke at all after that, to anyone, not even family. But his sisters knew how to pick up on his soft grunts. He might even finally break his long-standing vow of silence. Camilla's mind was racing, faster than it ever has over her past eight decades.
'Why, Grandfather? Why now, do you finally reveal yourself?' She thought. Then she shook her head, reminding herself to stay focused. Upon making sure everything was packed, the trio set off right away. With great haste, hoping to reach the village in time. But it was several days of travel, and they…were nowhere near as fast as their predecessors were.
Notes:
So…yeah, Kalina has gotten her music-matched scene and her Mega form. Her mega form ability is just meant to be a sample of what's possible without any limitations at all. Essentially, it allows her to rapidly adapt to anything her opponent has. It even tells her what their moves are, so she can prepare several steps ahead.
Also...that little teaser at the end. I know some of y'all are gonna be...real excited about that, for sure. See if you can guess which of the girls each of them are descended from.
