Chapter 51: Stormy Horizon

Summary:

The Asteroid is destroyed, but the days in Rescue Team are not done. Zeryph and Lexie get the good news, then they take a trip home so they can visit with friends and Zeryph's family. Along with Evan making a major decision of his own.

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

As another morning rolled around, Lexie and I started on our usual morning workout. And following our two hours of exercise, we started on breakfast as we always did. As the others were getting up, a flash drew my attention. It was Dialga, going off the color of the light. He'd shifted into his human form, thankfully, as to not risk damage to the cabin.

"Zeryph, with your mission complete, I thought it would be fair to inform you that you'll now be able to travel between now, and your own time, whenever you need to." He brushed his mustache with his fingers. "Well done, by the way. Apart from that incident, your team has performed excellently. Well beyond expectations, even. Still, I grant you the opportunity to go back for a little while. I can think of a certain nurse who'd like to see you."

"Yeah, same here. After breakfast, I'll go pay her a visit. Let me stay like this, though." I said. "I wanna see her reaction to it." I got a chuckle from Dialga.

"Of course. You should go see your family, as well. Your aunt and cousin would like to know how you're doing." Dialga smiled. "I'll be waiting for whenever you're ready." He went into the living room to sit down, while the rest of us focused on breakfast. We offered him some, of course, but he politely declined. Being what he was, he didn't need to eat really. Outside of if he wanted a small snack on occasion. Honestly, his siblings and even Arceus were the same way.

After breakfast, Melanie took Lexie and I aside, after Lexie had ate a bit more than usual. Then, Melanie used her magic for a scan, only to smile softly, and warmly. I knew what that meant, even without asking.

"Congratulations, you two." She said softly. "It's in the very early stages, but…I can confirm, you'll have an egg on the way." Melanie swept us both up into a gentle hug. "I should be able to help out a fair bit, thanks to Liz's training."

"Heh…I guess…forgetting really did get us, huh? I was hoping to wait until my early twenties at least. But…still, I'll take on this responsibility just as I would with any other." I said, then I pulled Lexie into a hug. I could sense the happiness, the pure joy, radiating off of her like sunlight. It's the tightest I think she's ever hugged me, by far. Even more than after we reunited, following our arrival. I reached up, wiping small tears of joy from her eyes.

"This was something I wanted, more than anything, even when I was traveling with Gloria. But, she was so busy with her role as Champion that…I never had time to settle down. I'm pretty sure Jackie wanted the same thing, and my brother actually did go and get himself a girlfriend. Believe it or not, it was our own Zeraora." Lexie's voice was shaky, but I know how happy she is. Tears of joy are a sure sign of that.

"You've mentioned Jack before, right?" I was also told Gloria called him that because, ya know…jackrabbit. "How was he, anyway?"

"As I've said before, he's a great guy. You two would probably bond like brothers, if you got to meet him. I still miss him, of course, and he'd be really happy to hear the news if it got to him." Lexie pulled away. "Maybe we should tell the others the news, at least. Slowly, anyway, since it's better to go one at a time."

"Kaorah has pretty much figured it out, and made me promise that she'd be the next one." I admitted.

"Hah, yeah…sounds like her." Lexie started for the living room. "You're going back in order to see Liz, right? Lemme come along, break the news to her so we can get her reaction to it. You should totally go see Samuel, too. Just to get his reaction to you being a Lucario."

"Oh, definitely. Well, Pallet Town is second on the list. Wanna let my parents see Delia again, after all." They were waiting for Lexie and I, along with Dialga. I guess he told the pair where we were going. Liz is most likely gonna freak, over all this. I can already see my parents teasing me over having a human girlfriend. Ah…well, Liz isn't at that point, yet. But, I mean, after having lived in the same building for two months. And how well we bonded, it's bound to happen…very soon. In fact, if she doesn't spring the question about going on a date, I'd be surprised.

"Hey Zeryph, just a moment." Evan spoke up, drawing my attention. He motioned for me to step outside, so I did. I quietly shut the door behind us, giving us a bit of privacy to talk.

"What's up, bud?" I asked him.

"After that big battle, ah…I think I've made a pretty important choice." Evan settled next to me as I sat down. "If you're going back to the past, I want to go along with. But, I…won't be coming back. I've decided I want to go settle down. I don't…wanna leave her waiting while I go and get killed fighting a Legendary or something." Hearing Evan say that, it hurt, I'll admit.

"You sure about this?" I asked. "I don't want you making this choice only to go and immediately regret it or something."

"I'm absolutely sure. And, I think…once I talk with her about it, she'll make the same choice." Evan shifted his wings. "That…doesn't mean you guys won't be able to come pay us a visit, whenever you'd like. I mean…you can travel near-instantly now if you've been somewhere before. I just…I'm gonna miss Lexie's cooking, ya know?"

"Yeah, I get it. But, hey…it's all your choice, bud. And I totally understand. After our battle with Rayquaza, and the way it left us all injured, I can't blame you for wanting to get out of this. However, I still want to be able to have you there whenever we go and do another League." I held out a fist, and he bumped a wing against it.

"Hah, you know it. I wouldn't dare miss one of those." Evan helped me to stand up. "Now, get going. I'm gonna take my time to say my farewells, break the news to everyone. When you go to visit Ash, bring me along." He started back inside, and I followed along. The good news for myself and Lexie, followed by the news that Evan's chosen to leave. I'm gonna miss him, and I'm sure the others will, too.

As soon as he knew we were ready, Dialga gathered us together before flaring his power. The world blurring as we were transported, from the cabin, to the Pokemon Center at the base of Mt. Silver. Inside, thankfully, as it was in the middle of winter. Sudden cold wouldn't do well for any of us, my parents especially.

"Hey Dialga." I heard Liz's voice. "Lexie, as well? Then…who are the others?"

"Hey Lizzie." I spoke up, smiling. She did a double take, her eyes widening for a moment, before I found myself wrapped up in a hug.

"Zeryph!" She pulled away, smiling. "I missed you, big guy. So…how did this happen?" She gestured to me.

"Part of the mission, actually. We completed our main goal, just yesterday." I still get the feeling that we're not done, though. "So, Dialga has allowed us to come back and visit for a while."

"That's great." Liz took us to somewhere to sit down. "And, who's the new couple? New teammates?"

"Eh…no. Liz, meet my parents. Annie, and Markus." I introduced both of them. Liz took the news pretty well, even taking some time to talk to them, before I decided to drop the bomb on her. "Oh, and…Liz, there's even more news. Due to something that happened yesterday morning, ah…Lexie and I are gonna be parents."

"That's wonderful!" Liz grinned. "I'm so happy for you two. What happened to waiting for a bit?"

"Pheromone haze, so…kinda…wasn't thinking clearly." I got a shrug, in response. "Still, I'm not just gonna ignore the responsibility. That would be a terrible thing to do." And, from what Camilla said, I'm apparently supposed to be a great father. Maybe this is what gets me started on the path.

"Yes, it certainly would. Still, Melanie and I are gonna help whenever you need it, as best we can." Liz smiled. "And, hey, maybe when you and your crew are home from the future, you and I can go get a meal together."

"Sounds like a great idea." I was wondering who was gonna say something, first. "Well, anyway, I've got family to go visit, so I'm gonna be on my way." I shared another hug with Liz, then as I turned away, I tore open a rift. My parents were the first through, followed by Lexie and myself. Mimey was confused for a moment, when he saw us. I felt him gently probe my mind, and a smile broke out on his face.

"Zeryph, welcome home." He said, just as he sent out a small pulse from his mind. I heard my aunt coming down the stairs before she appeared.

"Zeryph?" When our eyes met, Delia fell into stunned silence for a moment. "What…?"

"Long story, auntie." At least we don't have to worry about language issues here. Both because of Aura, and the fact that Mimey is here, as well. "It's not just me who's a Pokemon, either. Ma, dad, introduce yourselves." I smiled. "I'll leave you all to catch up for a bit. Lexie and I want to go see Ash."

"Be…before you go, Zeryph. Uh…how did your mission go?" My aunt asked, once she'd gotten over the shock she'd just been hit with.

"It was a success. The world is safe from destruction." I blasted open another rift. "Anyway, we're gonna go see the kid. Have fun catching up, I guess." I really wish I could just outright tell my aunt that I was gonna be a father. But…given Kanto's stance on Pokephilia, eh…probably not a good idea. Especially if I were to say it was Lexie who's gonna be the mother. Before going to see the kid, though, I made sure we stopped to see Samuel, as well.

"Ah, Lexie, welcome home. And…who's this?" I heard the Professor ask.

"Take a guess, Sam." I said, grinning when his expression shifted into one of shock. Surprising everyone today, I guess. The next thing I knew, he had his equipment out, trying to figure out how I'd changed form. But on the very first scan, my powerful Aura caused the equipment to overload and explode. This caused all of us to flinch away from the device.

"Yeesh, sorry Professor. I should've warned you about that." I got a shrug in response.

"Ah, no worries. How strong are you, exactly? Because, it takes someone being exceptionally strong to cause such a thing." Samuel's curiosity is going to be sated. I'll make a note to apologize later, in case this causes a panic. Feeling for my seals, I released the first stage and let my power flare. My aura sparking and lighting up with a low *Fwoom!*

Green flames flickered across my body, much like the cases before when I used it. I only held it for a moment, before reigning it back in and resealing it. I know for a fact that anyone with Aura Sense…definitely felt that. Means I should expect some attention from the Kingdom, later on. Possibly from Cameran Palace, as well.

"My goodness! I've never once heard of someone being that strong. Zeryph, you are truly gifted." Samuel had picked up a clipboard from a set of records he had been keeping, related to my team. And began to write another note on the list. I found out during our week off, thought it was pretty amusing. I don't mind if he keeps records for us, either. Especially because of how strong we are.

I also added some new names to the list, myself. For Alex, and the Eon Twins. Once that was done, Lexie and I said our goodbyes, then I opened another rift. This time, we went to see Ash's group. The air wasn't as cold on the Orange Islands, but it is still winter time. I also made sure that Evan was brought back, so he could see his girl.

"Huh?" A soft voice met my ears, then my eyes met hers. "Who are you?" Libra asked, quietly. "And how did you…wait." Her power pulsed, then her eyes widened. "Zeryph?"

"Yup. Where's the kid at? We're here to see him." I noticed how Libra seemed surprised by the lack of hostility in my tone.

"Inside, Pokemon Center. I was just on my way back in. Follow me." She began to walk. Even though she sounded calm, I saw how tense she had gotten, just from being near myself and Lexie. Perhaps assuming that we'd kill her if she gave us a reason to. Wouldn't make any sense to do that, especially if I want to let her redeem herself. And with her being on Ash's team, I don't think he'd appreciate that.

[Your Cinderace…Lexie, right? I can sense something unusual about her. What has happened?] Libra asked, through the use of Telepathy.

[Sorry, but that's personal information. And, you haven't earned the right to know about it.] I said back.

[Fair enough.] Libra sighed out loud. [I hope to earn your forgiveness, one day. Even if it takes quite some time.] Well, depending on how Power of One goes, she might just earn it then. As we entered the Pokemon Center, she called out to Ash. He was initially confused when he came up to us. But recognized who we were just from the weight bands alone.

"So…when did this happen?" Ash asked me.

"A little over a week ago, when Dialga sent us out on that mission we were going on." I said. "Could've been turned into any Pokemon in the dex, got stuck as a Lucario. Not that I'm complaining, of course, 'cause my Aura is ridiculously strong."

"That was you?!" Libra seemed surprised. "I felt it from here. Was wondering what it was."

"That's some impressive sensory range. Granted, my aura's like a shining beacon whenever I use it at full strength. I wouldn't be surprised if half the planet sensed it. And that was only stage one." I showed them both the seals Arceus gave me. "I have eight levels to set to. Plus whatever amplification I get from Mega Evolution. In short, I've been set up to be crazy strong. As if I wasn't already strong enough."

"Only you would get so crazily lucky." Ash shook his head, smiling. "Now I'm kinda glad you guys aren't running the Islands with us. You'd win the league inside of a week. If not shorter than that."

"Well, still, expect us to show up in full force, in the near future. You're gonna need the extra firepower, for sure." I talked with the kid for a while longer. Getting to tell him about our faceoff with Rayquaza was actually pretty fun. He didn't seem surprised that we'd managed to save the world.

Not that I'd really expect him to be, either. Since he did know we were going on that mission, in the first place. After a little while, I felt Dialga's power spike for a moment, notifying me that we were needed.

"Gotta cut this reunion short, kiddo. Dialga needs Lexie and I for something." I reached out to tear open another rift, but was stopped by the sound of wings. Evan had flown off with his girl, while I talked with Ash. Both of the birds landed in front of me as I stepped out to meet them. I sensed a bit of sadness from Evan, but he was smiling. Well, as best as a bird can smile, anyway.

"Well, I guess this is it, huh?" Evan spoke up. "Zeryph, good luck out there. On wherever your journey takes you. Just…make sure to come by and visit, yeah?" While Evan was talking with me, Ash's Pidgeot went off to speak with him. It was telepathic, so I have no way of knowing what they're saying.

"We will, don't worry. I'll be sure to bring some stuff that Lexie fixes, on occasion." I reached down, rubbing the top of Evan's head. "We've gotta get going, something important seemed to come up, based on Dialga signaling us."

"Yeah, can't say I'm surprised. Seems like you and the others aren't quite done, huh?" Even bumped a wing against my fist. "Well, whatever it is, I know you can all handle it. The others were sad to see me go, but they understood. Zeryph, gonna miss you, man."

"Gonna miss you too, buddy." I said. My ears twitched as I heard Evan's mate return to the room, the pair sharing their own equivalent of a nuzzle. "Take care, you two. We'll visit when we can." I smiled softly, even feeling the sting of tears in my eyes. Smiling sadly as the pair headed outside, before spreading their wings and taking flight. Only, without us, this time. "You did the right thing, kiddo, letting her go." I said to Ash, without turning to look at him.

"Yeah. I kinda…knew it was gonna happen, eventually. I just didn't know exactly when. Gonna miss having her around, but it's not the first time I released someone. Although, in this case, I kept her ball. Just like how she said you would, for Evan." Ash moved to stand beside me, on my left, watching the birds disappear into the distance. Lexie wrapped an arm around my waist, leaning her head onto my right shoulder.

"Yup. Just in case they want to return, one day. Anyway, kiddo, we've gotta get going." I flared my power, pulling open a rift. "We'll be back when we can, but it's going to be a while. Our work isn't quite done, just yet." We said our farewells for now, then Lexie and I regrouped with my parents and Dialga.

[Break]

We were warned to brace ourselves just in case, before time shifted around us. We landed in our office building, and the sound of strong wind met my ears. Not quite as strong as Delta Stream, yesterday…well, not yet.

"Welcome back, everyone." Melanie said softly. "While you were gone, Solais's disaster senses got set off again, big time. It seems our issues with the natural disasters aren't quite over. This might just be an aftershock, but at least…it's not an earthquake. We know what was causing those, and it was dealt with."

"Yeah. But this time, it…well, you know how I'm afraid of storms. This…makes that supercell, from a while back, look like a normal thunderstorm." Solais spoke up. That's…not good. The only kind of storm that can do such a thing is…

"A Hurricane." I said, quietly. "We're in for some real rough weather, then."

"But, where would it have formed? Certainly not off to the northeast, it's too cold up that way." Melanie pulled the map we'd gotten, setting it out so we could look. "And, why didn't Solais sense it until today?"

"Maybe it's not entirely natural." Lexie spoke up. "Aren't there Pokemon who can make storms like this?"

"Well, only one that I can think of, but she's supposed to still be asleep." At least, I'm pretty sure Kyogre's still asleep. It's possible she woke up some time after we cracked the Asteroid. There's the lesser Weather Trio from Unova, but their weather powers aren't nearly as strong as what Kyogre has. Even when they all work together. And, she's on the wrong side of the map from where the storm would come from, anyway.

"Generally, hurricanes call for immediate evacuation. Problem is, we don't exactly have a means to do that. Best we can really do is hunker down and wait. We're up high enough that storm surge won't be an issue, at least." Well, I hope it won't, anyway. It shouldn't, but it's always possible that it will. From how the wind feels, the storm is gonna come up from the southwest. If I remember right, Kyogre's dungeon is on the east side of the map, opposite to where the storm is coming from.

This tells me that, at the least, she's not responsible. If it really was Kyogre, the storm would've formed with little to no warning, and likely, right over our heads.

"We've still got time until it gets here. Call the others back to base, ASAP. Start getting the villagers prepared for the storm, and make sure none of the rescue teams are sent out during it." As I was talking, Melanie and Solais quickly got up and started for the door. I also stepped outside, turning towards the southeast where I could see it. Dark clouds on the far horizon. Clouds with a far more ominous feel than the supercell we got caught by, leading up to Fuchsia.

"First hurricane?" Lexie asked softly.

"Not for me, not by any means. In this life, maybe, but not in the past one." I said to her. I smiled when I felt her lean against my back, with her arms wrapping around me. "What a time to find out you're gonna be starting a family, huh?"

"Yeah. We made it through the storm before Fuchsia, we'll get through this, too." Lexie smiled, softly. "Even if this one's gonna be a lot worse. Especially without what was, in our time, modern day equipment."

"Yeah. I hoped that the asteroid would be the end of it, but I guess I was wrong." I rubbed the backs of her arms, softly. "I guess…our work isn't done just yet. Something must've come down with the remains of that asteroid. And, whatever it is…it's throwing off the balance, and not the asteroid itself." Wish Evan stuck around for just a little longer, because he'd be a huge help for search and rescue once it clears up. Still, gonna be a helluva story to tell him when we seee him again.

"Maybe Gengar wasn't tied to it, at all." Lexie nuzzled my cheek. "C'mon, let's not worry about it right now. We should focus on preparing for the storm." It took a few hours before the whole team gathered, all of us stopping missions for the day, due to the storm that was on its way.

While the others helped the village prepare, I had to help someone else. Solais, who was curled up against me with her head rested on my chest. We were lying on one of the cots that were set up yesterday when we got back from our mission. While Solais was snuggled against me, I was slowly rubbing her back. I could feel how strong her fear was. Stronger than the tornado day, even. I knew that had caused her to gain a fear of storms, and it hasn't been stronger than at that time. Until now, anyway.

I had offered to let her stay in the cabin, but she declined. Stating that the only way to lessen her fear was to face it head on, at its strongest. Which lead to my own decision to have this building reinforced for the strongest possible hurricane we could face. While the boys and I got to work, Kaorah and Suicune helped to guide the village on preparation.

The twins got the task of flying to Baram Town, elsewhere on the continent, with guidance from Alex. They were going to warn the folks there. I hadn't originally thought of anything from Super Mystery Dungeon being here, but now that I know, we have to make sure they'll be safe, too. I just hope that school trip, whenever that is, doesn't get caught in the storm.

Heh…speaking of which, if they were to hear about that whole thing I did with Rayquaza, I'm sure the kids would love to hear the story. Same for with Groudon, or even the fact I'm in contact with Arceus and His sons and daughters. I'm sure they'd love to learn from some of the strongest and oldest there are.

I used to not think of myself as a good teacher, but…Ash, he's proof enough that I am. When it's something that I'm really good at, anyway. Warframe was another great example, outside of what I knew, related to Pokemon. I still miss Warframe, even now. Can't even remember what rank I was, or if I had reached True Master before the events that started this story.

[Break]

It took us a few hours of work to set the office building up to be able to withstand the storm. Without weather satellites or even radar, I have no way to actually see how bad it is. The best estimate we can make is from what Solais is able to sense from it. We could already feel the wind, even this far off.

While Lexie and I stayed in, and Solais stayed as well, the rest continued to oversee preparations for what was on its way. I just…really hope that Kyogre doesn't wake up. 'Cause if she does, and she ends up going Primal, that storm is gonna mix with the one that's on its way.

At which point, things get real bad. And it becomes possible that Rayquaza may have to step in, if we don't manage to deal with Kyogre first. I don't think she'll be as hostile as Groudon, but we won't know until we actually encounter her.

There was also what I sensed, last night, just before I went into the base portal. I…still don't know what that was. I asked Mewtwo if he sensed anything strange, while we were working on our outpost. He wasn't able to sense anything, at all. Even when he focused on it, specifically. Mostly because he can't sense Aura like I can.

As our work finished up, we started to get settled into the rooms that we added. The cots weren't as comfortable as our home beds, but were still better than sleeping on hay piles, at least. And while the others got settled, Mewtwo and I worked on our disaster plans. As well as warning as many as we could, that if the storm seems like it's over…do not go outside. The Eye is not the all clear signal.

With the incoming storm, all rescue team operations have been halted, at least until the storm clears. Since, once it does, we'll need everyone rested and ready for the massive increase in rescue work we're gonna have to do. Not that it's a bad thing, but…like with Fuchsia, we can't save everyone. There's bound to be some who aren't gonna make it.

I caught three signatures on the edge of my radius, not long before Alex and the twins rejoined us. I showed them all to the rooms we set up for them. The three hadn't taken the news of Evan's decision, quite as hard as the others. I had plenty of time to hear their thoughts on it. Sad that he was leaving, but happy to hear that he was settling down with someone he loved.

I had mentioned earlier that this would be quite the story to tell him, about us dealing with a hurricane. But, I can understand why he wouldn't want to be here for it. Not so much the danger, as it is the weight on his psyche. When we start doing search and rescue, we're bound to find some folks who didn't make it.

That's gonna be hard on all of us, though. Fuschia was tough, sure, but it's gonna be nothing compared to this. As our day moved on into the evening hours, Lexie and I quietly started on supper together. Suicune had gone down to the coast, and headed out for the storm to get an idea for how strong it is. Were it anyone else, I'd be worried. But she's a Legendary with nearly a hundred and fifty years of lifetime, based on when the Burned Tower fire was.

I know she'll be fine, without a doubt. It's probably not even the first time she's done something like this, either.

"Zeryph?" Lexie spoke up, softly, catching my attention.

"What's up?" I sat down what I was working on, some fries to go with the burgers. We hadn't done a burger night in a while, so it was Lexie's idea.

"When I…ah…y'know. Where are we gonna…keep it?" She asked, referring to the egg.

"The cabin is the safest place, without a doubt." I got a nod.

"Yeah, but we…don't really have a room set up for it, do we? We also…even after our visit with Liz, don't have a clue. Regardless of Melanie's training, we really don't know what we're doing." Lexie wrapped me up in a soft hug.

"Maybe aunt Kangaskhan could help us. Her or some of the other locals." I said softly.

"Maybe…if they, ya know…make it through the storm." Lexie pulled away, before returning to her part of the work. "I certainly hope they will. We did all we can to prepare them in such short time."

"Yeah, but we can't save everyone. We're bound to have casualties. And even if none are in the village, then there's still the other town, and those who live in the wilds." I said. "It's gonna be rough on all of us. But…for now, let's not worry about that. Back to the original topic, do you know anything about how long it'll take?"

"Mmm…no. Where I'm from, eggs kinda just…appear, out of thin air. I think some species in this world still do that. Either way, where I'm from, they only develop and hatch when a trainer carries them. Faster with flame body, of course. But, here…I get the sense it won't be like that." Lexie flipped the patties she was working on, and finding them to be ready, put them on a platter. Then she started another set.

"Goes without saying that the pair has to be in a Nursery, too." I got a nod. "And, far as I know…your world, you don't really get to bond, either, do you?"

"No…especially when shiny hunters are involved. They tend to do a lot of surprise trades, and they…send away a lot of young Pokemon. Often times, newly hatched." Lexie sighed. "I'm glad that you're not the sort to do that. I know for a fact that you aren't."

"Yeah, shiny hunting was never my thing, anyway." I smiled at Lexie. "If one of the kids ends up being shiny, I'd be really happy for it. But being a shiny comes with its own issues, too."

"It really does. We'd have to be careful, 'cause you never know the type of people who'd be after the kids for being shiny…or what they're willing to do. Poachers will be the worst. We didn't have any, back home. But…your version of the world? I don't much like the idea, but you might have to kill in order to protect the kids." Lexie smiled at me, again. "Now, let's worry about supper."

Our conversation faded as we shifted our focus again. It wasn't too much longer until everything was ready. Then we began to serve it all, with some help from the twins. Suicune returned around the same time, absolutely drenched, but being a Water-Type…she was completely unfazed by it. While we enjoyed our supper, Suicune and I talked about the hurricane. She was able to figure out that it's only a Category Two. So, on the weaker side of things, but still pretty strong.

I'm really, really glad it's not a Cat-five. Still, the possibility of Kyogre waking up and strengthening it…that's definitely a threat. But, I don't think there's any possibility that she will. We won't know what's going to happen until it does.

Following supper, we all began to turn in for the night. Although it's still supposed to be Lexie's week, she decided to let Solais stay with me. Mostly to help Solais settle her fear of storms, so she can sleep soundly. Especially because her being a Dark-Type means that Melanie can't stop her from having nightmares.

As we got comfortable and began to fall asleep, it was to the sound of the wind. It hadn't started howling, yet, but it will pretty soon. Our outpost would be strong enough to handle it, after all the work we did to strengthen the place. But I worry about the folks in the town. Even though we set them up a safe place of their own. Well, what we could in such a short time. Tomorrow, the storm is going to hit, and, we're in for a very rough ride.

Notes:

Firstly, the good news for Lexie and Zeryph. Yup…pretty much confirms that bit. I haven't quite figured out how long an egg cycle should take, or how to mix it up between species. Since the walking mechanic doesn't apply, it would have to be a real-time thing. It means Lexie will be out of battles, but she wouldn't mind.

Secondly… Evan's choice to leave the team. I realize how sudden it seems, and really…I feel like it would be something he'd decide to do. After the battle against Rayquaza, as well as busting the Asteroid. Simply because the situation scared him. And it made him think about how Ash's Pidgeot would feel, after waiting for a week or more for his return, only to get the news that he'd been KIA.
