Chapter 2

"Ok so what kind of sicko goes after the neighbor of their target?" Velasco asked as he looked at the wall with the attacker's message.

"I can't answer that, but we need to make sure that Klass gets her locks changed. Could be our attacker only got to Akiko so he could get the set of keys to Klass's apartment," Fin said from the kitchen.

"I've already called the landlord. He's got a locksmith coming. He's also going to let us in so we can sweep Klass's apartment and make sure this guy hasn't already gotten into her place," Bruno announced as he walked back in the front door of the apartment.

"So, we have no forensics because he assaulted her with some sort of object and the techs think that the spray paint is probably just a common brand you can get at the hardware store," Fin frowned as he left the kitchen and met up with his colleagues in the living room.

"So, the attacker knows about forensics but also knows that Akiko had a copy of Klass's keys. We could be looking at a stalker," Bruno suggested.

"We need to see who is in Akiko's life. Maybe we won't have to look too far," Fin said. They were interrupted as Captain Benson entered the apartment. Her eyes went right to the wall and she shook her head.

"How's Akiko and Klass?" Fin asked her.

"Akiko may not be able to have children and Klass thinks it's her fault. Queens SVU has graciously decided that we can take this one and they are forwarding all the suspects that Klass has collared over the years – along with her old partner's list as well," Olivia said.

"They think that someone who can't get to her old partner is trying to get to her?" Velasco was surprised.

"They nabbed a couple of pretty bad guys. Captain Hoffman promised to double check who was on parole as well," Olivia told them.'

"Captain Benson, we got a guy out here who wants to talk to you," the officer guarding the door suddenly announced from his post. Olivia gave Fin a look and he shrugged his shoulders. The Captain headed out into the hallway and came back almost as quickly.

"Look who I found," she smiled.

"Gonzales, what are you doing here?" Fin asked of the New Jersey State Trooper, who had just helped them find Louis Howey's victims.

"Amanda wasn't answering her phone so I thought I'd swing by her place and I find you guys in Akiko's apartment," the out of state Trooper said.

"You'll have to forgive her. She's at the hospital with Akiko. Akiko was attacked nearby and our suspect has issues," Olivia told him before directing his view to the wall.

"Oh God," Scott said.

"Let me get this straight. Klass doesn't answer her phone and you drive all the way here from Jersey?" Velasco piped up.

"We were going to get dinner together. Take Betty for a walk," Scott told them.

"Why don't you head down to the hospital and check in with her. She could use the company and another familiar face for Akiko when she wakes up. I'll get an officer to take you," Olivia told him.

"I drove here. Just give me the address and I'll head out," Scott promised. Olivia nodded and quickly texted him the address. He thanked her and took off.

"Did Klass mention this?" Fin asked.

"Her brain was somewhere else," Olivia admitted.

"We were thinking this could be a stalker," Bruno said. Olivia looked at him.

"You think that Scott is involved in this?" She asked him.

"He shows up just after we mentioned the stalker idea," Velasco said.

"Before we go ahead and suspect another police officer, let's make sure we know who is in Akiko's life. For all we know this little note on the wall is a ploy to pull us in the wrong direction," the Captain said.

"No pictures of a boyfriend or a girlfriend in the apartment. TARU took her laptop. Our attacker only came in to leave the message. Nothing appears to be stolen," Velasco told her.

"Ok, I'm putting in a call to Huang. Meantime, Fin, Bruno, stay to make sure that we get a sweep of Klass's apartment done along with the locks. Velasco, with me. We have a lot of records to look at back at the precinct," Olivia gave out her orders. Velasco nodded and followed the Captain out to her vehicle.
