Author's note; Okay, to get a better understanding of the timeline for ya'll canon wise. Pink Diamond's rebellion as Rose Quartz ended over 5,000 years prior to Steven Universe Cannon, her ruse of being shattered happened at the time.
You with me so far?
Okay, the current chapters have taken place a thousand years afterwards, so that leaves at least less than 4,000 years till cannon that'll be filled with some time skips when needed. It also leaves enough time to explore the Diamond Empire and gem society and how it works.
I've been getting questions on when Tanya will meet the cast, and I'm just thinking. "Hello? space battles with gems, Gem technology, gem history that hasn't been touched on in the show, and so much more!"
Okay, let's get to the story!
Planet F78 Surface
South West Hemisphere
Tanya
While the frontlines were faring well in their favor, it won't do to be conceited and assume the best that their forces wouldn't need reinforcements; with that train of thought in mind from one of the Hessonites under her command, Tanya denied the assumption and ordered for their own second wave to begin shoring up their numbers at the front lines. It was with this plan in mind to release more loyalists gems to join the ranks at the frontlines, and for Tanya to prepare herself as well to join the fray; suffice to say there were some objections, but overall Tanya had the final say and she had every intention to make sure they secured enough ground to make the South West Hemisphere of planet F78 their foothold.
While gem-styled hexagonal aircrafts were being loaded up by Amethysts and Rubies in a chorus of 'hup-to' as they marched themselves into the back of the aircrafts,Tanya was inside an aircraft that'd look like a helicopter body on Earth. Inside the back passenger seats, Tanya was sitting with her feet dangling outside while preparing herself and checking the 'weapons' she stashed into her gem on her chest that projected her hard-light body. "The more I research it, the more questions I am given than answered on gem biology…or whatever is the make-up of a gem." Tanya thought to herself in a grousing mood about her own gem and how it works, if anything, it's almost like the trope of Hammerspace with how much stuff she can store into it.
As Tanya fiddled with several weapons that she promptly stashed away into her gem after checking them on their condition, she thought to herself. 'A human mind isn't meant to live this long, I am fortunate enough that my gem can store my memories, or I'd otherwise go crazy with such a long life.' The few saving graces that Tanya had for her longevity, were the loose restrictions placed on her by Yellow Diamond, compared to most gems. A few more were the brief times she's allowed to occupy her 'free time' with research and such. Pulling from out of her gem, were the Yellow Diamond encrusted gloves her Diamond made for her, "No, these would leave me open to an attack." she mused, before stashing them away once more.
While Tanya continued to inspect the rest of her weapons from out of her gem, such as gem destabilizer guns to destabilizers swords, Her Pearl's voice brought her out of her musings. "Have any of you seen where our commander went?" Orange Pearl fussed out as she confronted a troop of Rubies, Tanya shot the group a dirty look when they were looking before looking indifferent when they all looked in her direction. She enjoyed her Pearls company, she really did; but her Pearl could get a little overbearing at times.
As Orange Pearl jogged her way over to her commander, she hefted with her a spear. "My Citrine!" she fretted as she finally approached Tanya sitting in the gem hover-aircraft, "Why didn't you tell me you were going out there yourself?" She questioned her superior as she put up a brave front, "Here, I even got ready myself to go out with you, and dispatch those awful rebels at your side." Pearl said while taking a knee and holding her spear by her side, all the while giving Tanya a hopeful and expectant look.
Tanya gave Pearl a simple look with a raised eyebrow, before standing up in the aircraft after placing one last weapon into her gem. With a soft sigh escaping her lips, "You should count yourself lucky I had put in the prerequisite for a pearl to match my station." she mused while offering a hand to Orange Pearl to take to be pulled onto the aircraft with Tanya.
With a dark orange blush tinting her cheeks, Orange Pearl accepted the offer of Tanya's hand and was pulled into the aircraft by Tanya. "Well…even if I wasn't, I'd still follow you." she expressed with a soft look.
"Hmph." Tanya hummed in thought as she walked to her seat while Pearl took hers, "Careful with that tongue of yours Pearl." she chastised with a soft smirk, before hollering out. "Pilot, you may take off now." Tanya announced.
From the cockpit of the gem aircraft, a Jadeite pilot leaned over and saluted her commander. "By your command, my Citrine." she spoke, before leaning back and took to flying the aircraft. With a whirring sound, the bottom of the aircraft hovered off of the ground and soon it was flying towards the frontlines at breakneck speed.
As the hover-craft was flown towards the frontlines, several other aircrafts were already behind it or ahead of it, as all were on the way towards the battlefield. With Tanya, she pulled out from her gem on her chest a gem blade style into a saber; while in the distance the battle could soon be seen with explosions going off and dirt being upheaved from gems fighting against each other, Tanya's citrine styled irises examined her weapon.
'Hmm." Tanya mused as her saber let off yellow sparks from its edge, "What do you think, Pearl, close and personal, or." Tanya then transformed her bladed weapon into a gem styled rifle with a bayonet on it. "Is this preferable?" she inquired with a simple analytical look at her gem weapon.
With her spear held close to her chest, Orange Pearl bit her lower lip in worry for her Citrine. "I'd prefer it, if you'd let me-I I-I mean, us, yes us!" she corrected herself before continuing to speak, "I'd much prefer it if you let us do what we were made for, My Citrine, while you command from the rear." Pearl fussed out for her commander with a troubled look, before ducking her head in embarrassment when Tanya glanced her way. "With all due respect, of course." she rushed to say.
"Yes, unfortunately though, for me…" Tanya began to say while she checked her rifle out, to make sure she transformed it right. "Yellow Diamond created me for more than just rear duty." she told her Pearl with an even tone of voice, before glancing up from her weapon at her personal pearl. "We are all made with purposes, and for me, that entails a wide variety of duties." she informed Orange Pearl.
As the aircraft they rode continued to fly towards the frontlines with the battle now in an audible range of them hearing war cries and bodies being poofed, Tanya's citrine eyes shined a deadly look as she stood up from her seat with her weapon held in the crook of her elbow while she gripped at the edge of the opening of the aircraft for them to exit out from. "As While my authority is second to my Diamond, I am to lead as well, and it wouldn't do for me to slack off in any department that my diamond created me to do." Tanya told her pearl in an authoritative tone.
'Besides, I can't fail, or allow the gems under my command to fail. I'll be seen as useless to Yellow Diamond if anything were to fail on my part, that's why I can't just sit back.' Tanya thought to herself in a grousing inner thought tone as she leaned outside of the aircraft.
Walking over to standing by her Citrine, Orange Pearl looked down where the battle was taking place as the aircraft was in the midst of being piloted around and weaving through incoming mortar shots from the enemies. "Perhaps we should let the pilot fly down this time, before getting off, my Citrine." Pearl suggested with a hopeful look directed at Tanya.
"Nonsense." Tanya intoned as her eyes lit up with yellow sparks from out of her citrine eyes, a soft whir could be heard from her gem as her body exuded tiny small yellow static shocks; as Tanya glanced down at the enemy frontline with a menacing look and demeanor, "It''ll take too long, and I'd prefer we'd head down now." she states, before leaning forward more until she fell off from the aircraft and down to the battlefield below her with her weapon tucked in her arms.
With a troubled look on her face, Orange Pearl sighed to herself. "You're always so on the go." She murmured to herself, before leaping out of the aircraft as well.
As the two gems fell to the battlefield below them, Tanya took the initiative of going down faster by straightening her body up to go down with a straight body; as the ground was beginning to get closer as Tanya continue to fall, she angled her body and held her arms and legs out to fall slower and aim herself at felling directly into an enemy rebel gem. With quick action taken by reorienting herself in midair while falling, Tanya practically connected a falling drop kick into a Bismuth Gem's body.
With a loud poof and boom from Tanya impacting her feet into the former gem's body, and subsequently causing a small crater from her crashing past the gem and into the ground beneath them, Tanya's body and weapon let off yellow sparks as she glided across the ground and stabbed a rebel with her bayonet on her rifle; with another poof of another defeated gem at her hands, Tanya quickly brought her rifle up and aimed it behind her to blast a quickly charged yellow lightning blast from her gun into a gem that had attempted to run up behind her and strike her from behind.
With more yellow static sparks emitting from out of her feet, Tanya began hovering slightly above the ground as more enemy rebel gems began to crowd around her; Bringing her weapon back down to hold in front of her, a whirring sound ramped up as her rifle lit up bright yellow. Just before the gems around her began to run in and attempt to take her down, Tanya brought her rifle to aim to the side of her, before letting off a multitude of destabilizing energy balls out the barrel of her gun. In a swift swing of her light-made rifle of her own making, Tanya whipped it around while firing it off at the enemies around her. Dozens of gem bodies went poof as she laid waste the enemy gems around her, and just as she thought she was done, more were still around her.
Just as more enemies were filling in the circle around her to fill the places of their allies, Tanya narrowed her eyes in annoyance; Leaping up and bounding over the heads of her enemies and tucking her feet up, Tanya's feet let off yellow sparks as she glided across the heads of her enemies, all the while causing their bodies to become stiff and run circuit-like lines on their bodies from the yellow lightning-like sparks from her feet dancing off from her to the heads of her enemies. With her feeting continuing to let of sparks, she spun her body around to helicopter kick her enemies' heads, before flipping upside down while stilling 'flying' in midair to continue her helicopter kick but upside down.
Once she cleared another distance, Tanya finished her helicopter spin kick by backflipping out of it and landing all the way at the back lines of the enemies; with a huff of energy spent on her part, and her feet glowing bright yellow from overuse of her yellow diamond's 'gift' to her, Tanya looked to her handiwork and noted that she had left a gap in the enemy lines with an empty space where she 'glided' above the heads of her enemies. With her yellow citrine eyes taking in the trail of carnage left behind her, she noted that the rebels were losing morale now that they realized who they were up against; however most were emboldened to test their luck and fight their way for freedom against the Diamond authority.
Transforming her weapon into its bladed saber form, with a swish of air, she blocked an attack from the side. Flashing a rather bemused smile at the offender, Tanya glanced at her would-be attacker. "A fusion gem." Tanya observed, as the fusion gem had what looked to be a long pole arm with a hammer on the end of it that was used to attempt at smashing into Tanya's side.
With an unnerved look on her face, the fusion gem stepped back, before her eyes hardened as she shook herself out of her stupor. "Why can't you loyalist gems just let us be!?" The fusion gem cried out in anger mixed with sadness as she swung her pole hammer around and at Tanya's head.
With a clang, Tanya parried the attack over her head and gave the fusion gem a look of annoyance, "I would, but orders are orders." she flashed the fusion a cruel look as she stabbed the fusion in her chest, and soon she popped with two gems falling to the ground beneath her. Tanya looked down and took note of the gems that were fused, "A Ruby and a Pearl." she mused softly, before resuming her onslaught of fighting of the rebel gems around her.
Meanwhile with Orange Pearl, she was cutting a swath through the rebel gems with her dark orange spear; with a panicked yet hurried look, Pearl was striking and stabbing her why past as many gems as she could to meet back up with her Citrine. "Outta my way!" she fretted as she spun her weapon above her and blocked a dual knife attack from a lunging Onyx gem that had leapt and attempted to stab her weapons into her. "Grrr! Move it!" Pearl yelled as she shoved the gem away from her.
Just before the Onyx gem could react in time, Orange Pearl swiftly stabbed her spear into the head of the rebel gem. "I have no time for this!" She yelled as she ran past the poofed gem, before being blocked off by a duo of red Agates with scimitar weapons. "Gah, of all the!" she complained as she could see her Citrine just past the two and a few more groups of gems attempting to crowd around her and defeat her.
Seeing that her Citrine was doing just fine on her own, Orange Pearl steadied herself as she went forth to fight against the Agates.
Citrine's Hand Ship
War Room
A cacophony of spoken orders, incoming messages, and two way communications filled the war room as Hessonite gems are seen directing the operations of the frontlines; the room was quite massive and had large holo-screens propped up on the walls to project the geography of the planet and blips of their allies and enemies in a detailed live feed of how the front lines are fairing.
Handling the comms and consoles were Larnites and Forsterites, their duties where to act under the command of their Hessonites that commanded them and relayed their orders on a grand scale, small holo screens were in front of them as they worked the holo-keyboards in front of them as streams of data reflected into their eyes from the holo screens in front of them.
"Repeat that again." A Larnite gem said over the loud cacophony of the gems talking over each other, she was leaning on her desk as she view the incoming data of the call she was on. "How many rebels have been detained so far?"
Over with a Forsterite, she was keying in the orders given to her by her Hessonite to ship out more destabilizer guns to the rubies on the front line. "This is Forsterite Facet 5h1p." she hollered over the communication's line, while holding a headset next to her ear with the mic next to her mouth, "I've received the green light to ship the order out, the guns will be out in t-minus five ticks." she hollered into the line, while explosions could be heard on the other end.
Manning the central podiums were the few Hessonites at work as they worked together on directing the frontline theater of planet F78. "Monticellite Facet 137 cut 732!" she yelled over at the awaiting gems at attention in the back.
Said Monticellite straightened up and rushed herself over before saluting her commanding Hessonite, "Yes, my Hessonite! At the ready!" she hollered over the cacophony of gems speaking over each other.
Pulling a cubed object from out of her gem, the Hessonite handed it out to her Monticellite under her command. "I need this delivered out to our Citrine commander, guard this with your life." She commanded. "Citrine will know what to do with it, once she reaches the rear enemy base."
"By your orders, my Hessonite!" The Monticellite shouted in a hurry before dashing off to deliver her package post-hate.
From beside the Hessonite, one of the other Hessonites glanced over with a questioning look on her face. "I thought the quantum destabilizer bomb was still in the testing phase."
"Oh, it is, but our commander enjoys live testing after all." She flashed her fellow Hessonite a grin, who matched it with her own.
AN; So…that's kind of what I thought would work with how Tanya would fight as a Gem that was made by Yellow Diamond.
That, and how Gems would operate during battles in war rooms too….
