Planet Cadmium 5 of Solar System Aureolin 2
Yellow Sapphire led the way towards the bridge, while her own Pearl and the Cerulean pearl followed behind her; Commander Citrine had made it an urgent matter for her to bring the pearls up and any others aboard the war hand ship to head to the bridge to act as an emergency bridge crew.
It would be discussed of course once the pearls reached the bridge on why the current circumstances dictated the commander to request the aid of pearls on the bridge; sure, most pearls were given the basic knowledge of piloting private ships within their minds, but it was unthinkable that the commander would allow a protocol to take place unless it really was such an emergency.
Whatever happened for her to need pearls to pilot the war ship, must have been very dire, and indeed it was as not just a few minutes earlier, Yellow Sapphire had felt the ship get hit by something; the enemy must have boarded in a manner of reaching the bridge within an allotted time, before they were dispatched for their trespass.
Yellow Sapphire just wished she could have seen it coming, but after leaving homeworld, her sear vision was still a bit foggy given the fact that all three remaining Diamonds stationed themselves on the capital world of the Diamond Empire.
One of the many reasons Diamonds had more than one Sapphire at hand, was that their presence alone could distort the future for any Sapphire to scry from; rumor has it that Blue Diamond only took one sapphire to Pink Diamond's colony, and was never seen again after the rebellion went on full tilt on the planet.
Yellow Sapphire was still uncertain why the hubris of Blue Diamond required only one Sapphire, when multiple were needed to scry a Diamond's future. It was very difficult when in the presence of a Diamond, as a Diamond's future had so many branches, it was hard to discern what path the future held for them.
At present however as Yellow Sapphire walked towards the bridge with a few more Pearls in tow that belonged to a few Hessonites aboard the ship, she couldn't help but try and scry the future ahead; the fog was still there but less hazy, the problem however was the closer she approached the bridge, the fog was stronger.
And that troubled Yellow Sapphire's mind of what exactly Commander Citrine was. No other gem besides a Diamond had the ability to fog up the future for a Sapphire's ability, and the very next thought Sapphire ran through her mind held quite the implicitation of what exactly her Diamond did to create her quartz commander.
Afterall, among the Diamonds, her Yellow Diamond was notably more…scientific, would be the word she chose. Of course however, that did not mean she did all the scientific work of her Diamond Military Branch, as she did leave a lot of the work to her Peridots and Olivine gems, but she did run quite a few of her own side projects beside her duty as a Diamond.
While Yellow Sapphire continued to walk with the sight of the bridge entrance in sight, she continued to dwell on her thoughts; the more she tried to scry through the future to see what welcomed the commander, she was supposed to aid commander Citrine after all in this manner, the less fog she had to work with with her scrying of the future.
Usually she had to use the assistance of her fellow Sapphire when her Yellow Diamond required a bit of their foresight, but with her present situation, she only needed a bit of effort, which led the sapphire to a different take on what she assumed was Commander Citrine's gem design.
Surely her Yellow Diamond did something, but as her Sapphire, she wasn't to question her own Diamond of what she did.
The only problem however, was that each fog of every Diamond had, had a different hue of color, and it was not really hard to tell who's was who's.
The present fog that still persisted over Yellow Sapphire's scrying mind, had some tangible yellow in it, with prominent orange in it; if anything, Yellow Sapphire saw the somewhat dense fog she had to scry through to look like a heated gas cloud…perhaps a fog of war?...
As Yellow Sapphire finally approached the doorway of the bridge, she waited for her Pearl to step forward and open the door for her and the other pearls behind her. Whether the commander knew about herself or not, she knew one thing for certain.
The various factions of the upper elite gems would no doubt start a hissy fit over what Citrine really was.
A shard of her Diamond.
And the troubling part is, Commander Citrine was still a Citrine Quartz as her gem on her chest showed, but contained a very small fraction of whatever her Yellow Diamond used a part of her gem to grow Citrine in a rich citrine ore deposit; that meant trouble in the future once the rest of gem society found out that Citrine was not a perfect gem, and it was not a question of if, but when.
Yellow sapphire knew many other sapphires that were very strident in holding up the social order of gem society, very strict adherents as one might say; she of course was not among those sapphires, as she cared very little for the old ways. Her other fellow Yellow Sapphires may think differently however.
Which is why now, Yellow Sapphire was debating on whether she should tell the commander of what she really was; the commander after all, was a very loyal commander to their Yellow Diamond, and as such, she deserved to be warned ahead of time.
Once the doors finally opened, Yellow Sapphire and the Pearls she brought with her, were treated to the sight of a very empty bridge save for the commander herself and her Orange Pearl; the pearl servant in question was currently manning the navigation controls, quickly working it all with how big the ship they were on is.
Yellow Sapphire immediately went to work as she ordered her Pearl into action, "Pearl, go assist Commander Citrine's." she ordered briskly while walking, earning the attention of the commander herself.
"Yes Ma'am." her Pearl answered, before rushing off to aid the commander's Pearl in steering the war hand ship easier.
The commander, who was in the midst of speaking into her comms prior to Yellow Sapphire's entrance onto the bridge, stood up to greet her before fishing out orders for the pearls to take up the various stations until the Nephrites reformed.
Once Commander Citrine finished giving out orders, Yellow Sapphire calmly walked up to the commander, who in question now stood over at the center of the bridge as she kept watch on all the pearls on emergency active duty.
"Ehem." Yellow Sapphire softly spoke as she stood beside the commander, she had to crane her head to look up at the Citrine Commander as she spoke; the commander herself took attention to Yellow Sapphire's voice as she looked back down at the Sapphire with a curious but calculative gaze, "I have some matters to speak with you about, but I would suggest we speak of them of a later date." she calmly noted. "In private of course." Yellow Sapphire followed up with.
Commander Citrine nodded gently, "I can arrange that." she answered with a sharp tone, "but for now, are you able to discern anything of the future for this campaign?" she inquired with her eyes narrowed at Yellow Sapphire.
The Sapphire herself wanted to purse her lip and bite over one, but such an action was unbecoming of a Sapphire, so she instead folded her arms behind her back, and nervously twiddled her thumbs from out of view of the commander, "I'm…afraid…give me a minute!" She rushed to say at the end after seeing the impatient look on the commander's face.
Unfolding her arms from her back, Yellow Sapphire clasped her hands and gripped them together in front of her as she tried to scry past the fog that the commander seemed to permeate, "...I…believe…" Yellow Sapphire paused in her words as her single eye darted side to side as she forced her ability to work into overtime.
It was easier to do than when she was around her Yellow Diamond then in proximity to the commander, "There…is…a variable of success within this campaign…" she said, while seeing some trials ahead for the commander, "But…" It was then Yellow Sapphire's eye widened when she saw what the Commander would be doing to the home planet of the organics…that would later… "Oh my…on oh no…" Yellow Sapphire remarked in a shocked revelation after managing to scry past the thin fog of commander Citrine's future.
Yellow Sapphire ceased her scrying as the commander placed her hand on her shoulder, Citrine herself had to bend at her knees to look into the face of the small Sapphire gem, "What is it? Will there be a major failure in the campaign!?" she asked urgently.
Sapphire in turn, ceased making her eye dart all around, and reached up to lift her hair away from her eye to look directly up at Commander Citrine's face, "Commander Citrine, it's not failure, but what will greet you upon cracking the homeworld of the organics!" she warned.
Citrine however frowned and glared at Sapphire, "Well it's not like I can heed that warning!" she remarked, "I am under orders to have that planet cracked open." she said with an annoyed tone, before standing back up while continuing to converse with the Sapphire.
Their conversation earned a bit of attention from the Pearls, but Yellow Sapphire cared not for what bystanders heard what she had to say next. "Commander Citrine, I don't know why, but when I scryed the future, I saw an immense tidal wave of liquid emerge from the cracked planet."
Commander Citrine looked on in confusion, before glancing to the side in thought as she tried to discern what Yellow Sapphire told her, "...that…" she spoke once, before pacing off to dwell on what Sapphire told her.
Yellow Sapphire followed after the commander as she desperately tried to make more sense of the future vision she saw, "Commander Citrine, what is worse, is that I can not see any further than that!" she added.
Citrine herself continued to pace around as she dwelled on what the sapphire told her, "Magenta pearl." she called out, as she halted in her steps. Said Pearl was one of the pearls working the galactic map single handedly.
While Yellow Sapphire waited to see what the commander was doing, the magenta pearl looked up from her emergency station and stood up at attention for the Commander, "Ma'am!" she spoke back, waiting for the commander to continue speaking.
The commander walked over and approached the pearl as she eyed the galactic map hovering above its holo-table, "I want you to bring up the data of the organics homeworld." she instructed.
Yellow Sapphire in the meanwhile, noticed from the corner of her eye of Commander Citrine's pearl, as the pearl herself was giving the magenta pearl a dirty look. The commander must take very good care of her own pearl if said pearl was showing that sort of jealousy, but Sapphire chose not to say anything, as it was a common factor for pearls to be very loyal at first to their owners.
Of course, there were owners that mistreated their pearls, which was more common than one thought…and the rare few pearls often enjoyed the mistreatment; Yellow Sapphire had erred to not question what was going on in the minds of the rare pearls that enjoyed the mistreatment, perhaps it's the coding of the pearls that did that to them…or perhaps it's something altogether different.
"Oh, right away ma'am!" The Magenta pearl responded, as she went to work in pulling up the data requested, "hm…it looks like I can only bring up records from ten thousand years ago…." the magenta pearl remarked with a confused face.
Yellow Sapphire's attention was now on the pearl in question while Commander Citrine looked directly over at Magenta Pearl, Citrine herself expressed a confused look as well, before making an annoyed face next, "Figures." she remarked, before gesturing for the pearl to continue, "Bring up the planet and its solar system." she ordered.
As the magenta pearl did her work, Commander Citrine walked over to the table that now projected the solar system that the organics came from; the commander herself walked over to point directly up at the blue planet with sparse green lands, "Zoom in on that planet." she instructed.
The magenta pearl did as instructed, and keyed in a few commands into the table's console, before the map zoomed in on the planet in question, showing a planet and two moons orbiting it.
Yellow Sapphire walked over to stand next to the table to see where the commander was going with this, as she stared up at the hologram of the organic's homeworld.
The commander in the meanwhile glanced at the moons, and pointed up at them, "Unlike the last time, we don't have the gravity repulsor ship, so we can't make one of the moons drop onto the planet itself…" she said with a calculating gaze.
Yellow Sapphire blinked her eye at the insinuation that the commander dropped a moon at all on a planet, "e-e-escuse me?!" she asked, quickly looking up at the commander with a surprised facial expression, before correcting herself, "I mean, apologies, but with all due respect ma'am, I thought the rumor of you dropping a moon on a rebellious planet was just propaganda!?" she asked somewhat.
The commander looked back down at the Sapphire with an indecipherable gaze, before answering plainly, "Well, it wasn't exactly a moon, per say, but a planetary asteroid that was in the orbit of the planet I had dropped it on." she answered with a frank tone, before looking back at the hologram of the planet and its moons. I was just fortunate enough that the 'moon' was small enough for the gravity weapon to work on it, otherwise it would have been pointless to try." she remarked.
Yellow Sapphire nodded at that, before making a confused look back up at the Commander, "If that's so, then what are you planning with this planet's moons?" she asked while gesturing at the hologram image in question.
Citrine simply smiled smoothly as she looked at the image as well, "Split one of them in half, and use the ship to throw it into the planet, thereby causing a cataclysmic event on the planet itself." the commander answered, then looked down at the Sapphire, "Now tell me, does that vision of yours involve any of that troubling vision you saw of something coming out of the cracked planet?" she asked.
Yellow Sapphire clasped her hands as she attempted to scry the future, "Give me a second…hold on…" she said while her eye began to dart in all directions, hidden beneath her bangs. As Sapphire fought through the fog to scry the future for the commander, she pursed her lips as she discerned a few possible futures. "The…unknown liquid…it seems no matter what you do, it'll still attempt to retaliate."
"I see…" Citrine remarked as she stewed over the words of Yellow Sapphire, before looking at the present puddles that still existed on the floor. "Does…does the liquid look anything like these puddles?" she asked.
Sapphire ceased her scrying, and looked over and around to take notice of the puddles of water, "...Commander, you should remove this water at once…those are not simple puddles…" she said in wariness as she backed away from one of the puddles that was too close to her.
Commander Citrine frowned in response to Yellow Sapphire's warning, and eyed the puddles in question, "Let me guess, the water becomes active again?" she asked.
Yellow Sapphire nodded in response, while looking around the entire bridge, "There is also a future where these liquid puddles cease to be dormant." she continued to warn the commander.
Citrine on the other hand expressed an annoyed look as she glanced in the direction of her chair where a trio of Lapis Lazuli gems were situated atop. "Lapis did say she felt that the water didn't feel right…" she remarked, before looking back down at Yellow Sapphire, "Do you have the allotted time until these puddles start doing something?" she asked, while earning the cautious looks of the pearls as they all stared at the puddles in question with trepidation.
"About…." Yellow Sapphire began to say as she looked down as she tried to look past all the fog of the future, and did her best to discern the time allotted. She was not sure what made up the liquid water, the entire situation was unheard of involving any of this sort of mess, "...I'd say we have enough time, your Lapis Lazuli should reform before the puddles begin moving." she answered.
"I see…" Citrine commented back as she looked at the surrounding puddles of liquid, before looking back at the hologram of the organic's homeworld, "Perhaps then, I'll just resort to cracking the planet open." she remarked, earning a surprised look from Yellow Sapphire.
"What?" Sapphire said in surprise, "But-" she began to say more, only to be cut off by the commander as Citrine held up her hand, and began to emit a small static ball within her palms.
"I already know one weakness of this stuff." the Commander said while ceasing her demonstration of her abilities, and flashed a confident smirk, "And it just so happens I have an attached experimental weapon installed, that in theory should work like a destabilizer."
Surprised a bit that the commander was going ahead with the plan, Yellow Sapphire tilted her head a bit, before looking down once more to scry the future, "I…I can see something, it…it should, no it will work…it's just a bit hard to discern what follows after, hard to tell really…" she said, an uncertain look crossed her face as she looked back up at the commander.
Citrine nodded at the Sapphire, "That's all I need." she said with a victorious smirk.
