(Little Orphan Mary)

It was a rather sunny Saturday as Charlotte was walking in the livly city of New York as she looked over to see a local girl scout selling cookies.

"I almost forgot that it's girl scout season! I should buy some cookies for me and my friends" Charlotte had said to herself as she quickly ran towards her destination to buy some cookies as she was greeted by the girl scout.

"Good Morning, My name is Mary Ann. I'm a proud member of the Girl Scouts of America! It's a pleasure to meet you" Mary (a young 12 year old girl with blue eyes and a bob cut hairstyle) had introduced herself to Charlotte with a bright smile on her face as she set out some cookies on the small table which consisted of oatmeal, chocolate, and sugar-coated cookies.

"What a beautiful name, You can call me Charlotte Smith! I hope to become friends or on good terms with you!" Charlotte had spoken back to Mary as the two girls gave each other a handshake before Mary spoke once more.

"I hope for the same as well but let's go through the prices of the cookies, okay? One box is one dollar but if you get five boxes then that's five dollars meaning each box costs one dollar.." Mary had explained to Charlotte as the young girl was nodding her head in understandment.

"I see, Since I have a lot of wonderful friends, I'm just gonna buy ten boxes of chocolate cookies if that's okay with you" Charlotte had spoken back to Mary in agreement as she pulled out a ten dollar bill from her purse which made Mary smile.

"Of course, any type of money or donations that can go towards our program would mean so much for us so please feel free to buy as many cookies as you want!" Mary had spoken back in a tone of excitement as she brought out ten boxes of chocolate cookies and settled them in front of Charlotte.

"Wonderful! It's always a pleasure to help out those in need but If you ever need any help or anything then please let me know, okay?" Charlotte had spoken back to Mary as she handed over the ten dollar bill and her house number in which the young girl accepted.

"Thank you so much once again and I'll keep that in mind but I hope you and your friends enjoy the cookies!" Mary had spoken back in a happy tone of voice as she proceeded to put the cookies in the bag as she handed them over to Charlotte.

"I hope we can keep in touch one of these days and please contact me if you need any help. Have a wonderful day!" Charlotte had spoken to Mary as she waved her goodbye before turning her direction towards the other way as she officially had left the scene as this was seen by Mary.

"Contact number? I don't even have parents since I'm an orphan who's gotta make ends meet so it's gonna be hard to call her since Mrs Harrison won't even allow us to lose the phone!" Mary had spoken to herself as she quickly packed her things and proceeded to walk back to her orphanage.

"That Charlotte girl seemed to be quite nice but man! It wasn't nice to lie about being in some girl scouts but at least I'm providing food and clothing for everyone so I guess it can't be all that bad" Mary had thought to herself as she felt herself getting closer to the orphanage with each passing minute as she eventually made it to her destination which brought her some ease.

"At least I'm home cause selling cookies all day just isn't cut out for me but It's for my foster siblings so I gotta make it count" Mary had spoken to herself in relief as she suddenly felt a water balloon from above hit her in the head as water splashed all over her thus wetting her which brought annoyance to her.

"We got her! We got Mary!" A young boy with blonde hair cried out in joy as he gave his friend a high-five as this was followed by them laughing as they quickly retreated back from the window.

"Damn it! Joey! Billy! You two are gonna pay for this!" Mary cried out in annoyance as she quickly ran inside to dry herself up in which took ten minutes or so as the ruckus could be heard by Mrs Harrison.

"You guys gotta stop messing with Mary or else she's gonna get you both back one of these days" Mrs Harrison warned Joey and Billy in a stern tone of voice as she was met with the two boys nodding their heads in shame.

"But it's fun pulling pranks on Mary.." Joey had spoken back as he had a silly smile on his face as he heard the sounds of the bathroom door opening to reveal Mary.

"I'll deal with you two later but I gotta rest up before I do so I better NOT see you two run away…" Mary had warned Joey and Billy before retreating back upstairs to her room as this event made Mrs Harrison chuckle.

Three hours had passed since the water balloon event as Mary sat down on her bed as she stared at Charlotte's number with a smile on her face.

"Today has been quite eventful since I met that girl but maybe I should call Charlotte one of these days and see how she's doing and I gotta tell her the truth as well" Mary had said to herself as she got up from her bed to look out of the window with a smile on her face as the young girl was sincerely happy that she had made her first friend.
