(The Blackout)

*Alamo Square, San Francisco, California*
It was a very beautiful night as Anya was having dinner with her family as there was fellowship on the table.
"You're such a good cook, Anya. I can't believe you've learned how to cook at such a young age…" Maria had spoken to her niece as she had taken a bite of meatloaf from her plate while Bartok nodded his head in agreement.
"I must agree like who knew my niece could cook such a fine dish! We should have her cook for us more often" Bartok had jokingly spoken out as everyone but Linda laughed at the table.
"I agree father but there was the time where Anya almost burned the Mac and Cheese cause she forgot to turn the stove off so I don't know about that one.." Linda had spoken back to her father as she was met with him chucking.
"Bah! We all make mistakes from time to time but I'm sure that your aunt made sure that that doesn't happen again" Bartok had spoken to his daughter while Anya nodded her head in confirmation.
"Yeahh, I remember that, My mother and father were quite disappointed in me but I made sure to never make that happen again" Anya had spoken out to Linda and Bartok as all of the sudden the lights shutted off as surprised everyone as the entire house was now pitch black.
"Oh dear, It's a blackout. I'll get some flashlights so stay put for the time being…" Anastasia had spoken out as she and her husband got up from the table to get some flashlights while Maria and Bartok followed suit.
"Great, I was just having a good dinner as well but no use in complaining about it…" Linda had spoken out in disappointment as she waited for the flashlights while Anya nodded her head in agreement.
"It is a disappointment but on the bright side this does give us more time to talk as a family so I don't mind one bit" Anya had spoken back to her cousin while Linda rolled her eyes in annoyance.
"Socializing? Nah, I'm good so I'm gonna head back to my room for the night so later" Linda had spoken once more as she attempted to get up from the table, however, she could hear the voice of her brother.
"Sis, Before you go. Wanna see some stars outside? You always wanted to do something like that so I'd figured we'd knock it out of the way" Alexander had spoken out to his sister in hopes of convincing her to stay with them and made Linda stop in her tracks.
"He's right, It will be a good way to pass time before the lights come back on but if you don't want to then it's okay" Anya had added on to the conversation towards Linda as the young girl simply looked towards her side.
"Fine, I guess I'll join you guys but it's only gonna be for like ten minutes than I'm heading to bed, okay?" Linda had spoken to the pair while Anya and Alexander nodded their heads in agreement as the pair carefully got up from their seats and headed towards the living room area to get flashlights.
"Hey mother, we're gonna see the stars if that's okay with you but we won't be too long or anything" Alexander had spoken to Maria as he had seen the young woman nod her head in confirmation as she handed him a flashlight while Bartok watched.
"You kids stay safe now, okay? It's pretty dark outside and we don't want anything bad happening to you guys but have fun" Bartok had advised to his two kids and niece as the trio nodded their heads in understandment.
"He's right and be sure to watch over your little cousin and sister, okay?" Maria had added on to the conversation as she had looked at her son as Alexander nodded his head in understandment.
"Don't worry, I'll be sure to protect those little munchkins so they'll be sticking with me for the time being" Alexander had spoken back to his parents as he gave Linda and Anya small headpats which annoyed Linda as he and the two girls made their way towards the front door while putting on some jackets before proceeding to go outside.
"Golly, It's pitch dark out here! I guess the entire city has suffered a blackout" Anya had spoken out as she carefully moved towards the main grass of Alamo Square alongside with her two cousins as they're only source of light was Alexander's flashlight.
"It's quite cold outside so let's make this quick…" Linda had advised her cousin and brother as she continued to walk towards a good and comfortable spot as the trio eventually sat down and were awestruck at the beautiful night sky.
"Whoa, I never knew how lovely the night sky was, it's so beautiful…" Anya had spoken out as she could see many stars and other such wonders in the night sky that normally weren't there while Linda and Alexander nodded their heads in agreement.
"Y-You are right. This is something I've always wanted to see but It always gets ruined due to that stupid light polluton or whatever" Linda had spoken out to her cousin as she was still in awestruck of the view while Alexander watched as well.
"It's quite fascinating that we're seeing countless stars and other beautiful things in space. I wish our cameras were good enough to take a photo of this wonderful site" Alexander had spoken to his cousin and sister as they nodded their heads in agreement.
"You might make fun of me for this Anya but like my father, I truly believe that Humans will land on the moon someday. I don't care what anyone says honestly and that's something I genuinely believe in…" Linda had spoken to Anya as she expected her cousin to shrug or play her off however she was proven wrong.
"There's nothing wrong in believing in that. People have dreams and everyone's dreams and wishes are valid no matter how small or big but just know that I'm a huge supporter of your dream!" Anya had ensured her cousin as this made Linda happy however she quickly masked it.
"Thanks, You can be annoying at times but your kindness truly pays out and I'm glad that I can at least complain to you without you being annoyed at me at the very least so I appreciate that" Linda had spoken back as she let out a smile which unfortunately wasn't seen by Anya due to the darkness however despite that, Anya smiled back as she, Linda, and Alexander continued to watch the beautiful night sky that was free from the pesky light pollution for the reminder of that time.
