Calvin and Judith sat on the bed as they were ready to discuss the Winter Ball. The noises of the Ball could be heard from the other side of the door.
"I'll talk to you about Emily or whatever, but I'm still not participating in the stupid ball.."Judith advised Calvin while crossing her arms and facing the other way; however, Calvin knew his former friend would respond to this as he began to laugh, much to Judith's dismay.
"Come on, you can hang out with Anya and Louise. I know you don't like Anya while also finding my sister odd, but It's better than having to talk to Emily," Calvin responded, making Judith sigh before looking at him again.
"Look, I don't want to deal with my overbearing grandmother. She always talks down to me, along with Emily. Like, I get it! I'm not as successful as Emily, but I'm trying!" Judith ranted to Calvin with frustration before quickly coming to her senses.
"Anywho, If you want to spend time with me. You can do it here in my bedroom because I'm not leaving, and I mean it," Judith spoke once more to Calvin in a firm, stern voice while remaining steadfast in her stance; however, Calvin only slowly crawled closer to Judith which made the young girl blush madly.
"C-Calvin?! W-what are you doing? A-At least lock the door first, or someone might catch us…" Judith uttered to her former friend while staring at Calvin, waiting for his next move as she saw him smirking.
"Judith, if you go out and participate, I'll take you out on a date; how does that sound? It will be like the good old days.." Calvin proposed while gently stroking Judith's hair, making her smile while still blushing.
"C-Calvin, I-I thought you liked Anya. A-Are you trying to..convince me by using such methods? You are really…" Judith responded with surprise in her voice before feeling Calvin's finger gently touching her lips.
"I'm only doing what I can to succeed in my goals. If you at least go out and socialize, I'll hang out with you for a day, okay?" Calvin responded while staring at the blushing Judith, and eventually, she gave in to his demands.
"F-Fine. You better keep your promise. I will shower and get ready, so wait for me, okay?" Judith advised Calvin before quickly getting out of her bed, heading toward her closet to gather her outfit for the ball while Calvin watched on the bed, smiling.
"That's the spirit. It's going to be fun, and just hang out with Anya and Louise if you wish, but I'll be waiting right here for you," Calvin responded while seeing Judith walking to her bathroom on the right side of her room.
"I won't take too long, but you can still wait here if you want, okay?" Judith advised Calvin with a smile before entering the bathroom to freshen up while Calvin lay on her bed, smiling to himself as he had successfully convinced Judith to join the Winter Ball.
"Easier than I thought. I just hope Judith and Emily don't get into a fight or anything, but I have a feeling that things between them might go well, I hope.." Calvin thought to himself as he continued lying on the bed until he knew Judith was done getting herself ready.
*Ballroom*
Anya and Louise stood face to face with Emily and her friends as Emily began to introduce her friends to the two girls.
"These are my friends, Sarah and Marie. I've known them since we were toddlers, isn't that great? Oh wait, it is great," Emily said to Anya and Louise while introducing her two friends as the girls waved at them. Sarah and Marie were twin sisters.
They both had short brown hair and black eyes, the only difference being that Sarah had a birthmark on her neck.
"H-Hello. I'm Anya. It's nice to meet you. I hope we can all become good friends or on good terms." Anya responded politely while waving back, followed by Louise waving at the girls.
"I forgot to tell you, Emily has friends, Sarah and Marie. They're twin sisters, so it's hard to tell them apart at times, but Sarah is the one with the birthmark, while Marie doesn't have one on her neck." Louise advised Anya while seeing her friend nod her head in an understanding way as one of the twins finally began to speak.
"So, you are Anya, right? You're even cuter in person. Let's go out, how does that sound?" Sarah spoke to Anya while observing her; however, Anya rejected her advances rather quickly.
"No thanks, I'm not looking for a relationship right now, and I'm only interested in men, but I hope you can find that special someone," Anya responded to Sarah understandingly.
At the same time, Sarah made a pouty face, crossing her arms while Marie began to speak.
"Sister! Stop asking people out on dates, and besides, Anya isn't much of a good person anyway from what we've been hearing," Marie advised her sister rather sternly while Sarah sighed to herself.
'Finne, it's just that I saw Anya and her cute hairstyle and figured she wanted to be my girlfriend, but I'll stop asking." Sarah responded rather disappointedly while Emily laughed at the small talk unfolding.
"Don't mind her, Anya. She's just like your other friend. But at least she's tolerable so that I can excuse her odd behavior. Let's get to know each other for a bit, okay? Judith has been talking about you for months, and I wanted to know more about you," Emily spoke to Anya while grabbing a chair to sit across from her while Sarah and Marie followed suit.
"At least my friend doesn't ask random girls or people for dates, so please don't talk to my friend in that manner," Anya responded offendedly while sitting on the chair alongside Louise.
"It's just a joke! You're so serious; it's sad. Anyway, tell me more about yourself. I want to know more about you," Emily said to Anya with a mixture of annoyance while maintaining her smile as Anya began to speak.
"Well, I like reading. I sometimes dabble in writing, but that never really has taken off, and I want to be a nurse once I'm an adult. I also enjoy music as well." Anya responded rather politely while Emily smiled back, chuckling to herself as she began to speak.
"Nice, you seem rather intelligent, and since you told me about yourself, It's only fair if I told you about me." Emily spoke to Anya again as she took a deep breath before finally speaking again.
"As for me, I like to attend the most upper-class parties. I enjoy classical music such as Beethoven, Mozart, and other wonderful composers. I'm also into reading, and my favorite books are The Great Gatsby, Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Passing, and that's pretty much me." Emily spoke to Anya once more with entertainment while crossing her legs.
"Wonderful, you have great interests. I also love reading those books as well. The Hunchback of Notre Dame is quite tragic, I must say." Anya responded to Emily, letting out a small smile as both girls shared a small smile; however, Anya still kept her guard up due to Judith's experiences with Emily.
"Emily seems nice? But I can't let my guard down. I got to figure out why Judith doesn't like Emily. Is it really because of how Emily treated Judith, or perhaps.." Anya thought to herself while looking at Mrs Hamilton talking to Judith's parents in the corner with a focused glare on her face.
*Judith's Room*
*9:00 pm*
Judith was finished taking a shower as she managed to put on her outfit for the Winter Ball.
The dress was a green spring partisan dress that made Judith stand out. She also wore two beautiful white earrings with three small pearls.
"Judith, you look beautiful…" Calvin complimented his former friend, and this made Judith blush and smile.
"T-Thank you. I chose the outfit because I know you like green and all but besides that! Let's head to this stupid party already, okay?" Judith responded while quickly reverting to her usual self as she walked toward the door, turning off the lights while Calvin followed her.
"You're welcome. I'm glad I was able to convince you to join. Speaking of joining parties, are Neville and the others coming?" Calvin asked Judith in response while exiting the room with his former friend as Judith closed the door behind them.
"No, Neville caught the flu while Megan and Lisa are currently studying for final exams for the semester. It's sad cause I wanted to have company at the least, but at least you're here, so thanks again ." Judith responded with a hint of annoyance before ending her answer with relief while Calvin nodded back.
Judith and Calvin proceeded to walk across the way and down the steps as they made their way into the ballroom, and there, Judith saw Emily chatting with Anya.
"Emily…she's so annoying, but I shall speak to her just so that I won't have to dread the thought of the idea.." Judith spoke out with disdain as she began walking over to where Emily was sitting, and finally, she was face to face with the person she didn't like.
"Hello, Emily…" Judith greeted Emily. This caught Anya, Emily, Louise, and Marie's attention as all the girls turned to Judith.
"Cousin Judith!? What brings you here? I thought you were being a loner and sulking in your home, but It's nice seeing you. How's life? Are you busy trying to correct your mistakes?" Emily responded to Judith with a rather conceding tone mixed with innocence; however, she still showed some interest.
Judith's expression changed to annoyance as she quickly regretted the idea; however, she saw Anya and Louise glaring at Emily, which her cousin had overlooked, making Judith smirk.
"Well, I'm going good, cousin.." Judith responded snarkily, as it was clear that things could still end up rather tense for the two girls.
Calvin watched the confrontation from afar as he began to turn around to walk; however, he was stopped by Sarah, who tapped him on the shoulder.
"Calvin, you convinced Judith to participate, did you? What exactly are you planning.." Sarah asked Calvin curiously as the pair began to walk together.
"Well, I want Judith and Anya to finally become friends while also in the hopes of her squashing any troubles she has with Emily, so call it a gamble if you must," Calvin responded. At the same time, Sarah placed her fingers on her chin as if she was thinking about the ordeal before speaking.
"I see If I'm correct. This is all a plan so you could date Anya or Judith in the future without any trouble between them, right? For example, If you date Judith, you want to date her in the sense that Judith won't become jealous if you hang out with Anya as friends, right? And if you wanted to date Anya, you wouldn't have to worry about Judith doing something she might regret, correct?" Sarah explained to Calvin with great detail as the young boy smirked.
"Who said anything about that? I might have feelings for them, but I just want Anya and Judith becoming friends without the need for their drama; however, if dating either of them meant hurting the other person and cutting them out, I won't mind doing it. That's what love is, right? Making sacrifices for the sake of you and those around you.." Calvin responded seriously while Sarah simply nodded before looking over at Anya and Judith, sitting beside each other, talking to Emily.
"I just hope he can make the right choice, or his little plan might crash and burn…" Sarah thought to herself with a small look of concern; however, this turned into a small smile instead.
"However, Calvin is smart so things might work in not just his favor but Anya's and Judith's as well." Sarah thought to herself once more before continuing to chat with Calvin for the next few minutes.
