Later on, the entire team was either hanging onto Baymax or flying on their own as they head for Akuma Island. SP//DR was built for water travel, so Peni didn't need to go higher and managed to travel inside the suit.
Peter, Honey, GoGo, and Hiro hang off of the back of Baymax whilst Teresa was flying aside them with her wings. Peni and SP took the suit and we're swimming through the water as they couldn't fly to the island.
"Killer view," GoGo commented as she looked around.
"Yeah, if I..." Wasabi says while he hung onto Baymax's right hand. Fred was doing a hero pose on his left hand. "If I wasn't afraid of heights, I'd probably love this. But I'm terrified of heights, so I don't love it."
Then Baymax flew them down and landed on a clearing on Akuma Island. All of them climbed off of Baymax as Fred cheered in excitement. Peni came leaping out of the water before SP shook off the water like a dog.
"Our first landing together as a team!" Fred shouted as if it were a victory.
"Come on, Fred, keep focus," Peter said as they headed toward the compound on the island.
Wasabi then looked back and noticed a sign on the fence. "Quarantine? Does anyone know what quarantine means?"
"Quarantine." Baymax quickly answers. "Enforced isolation to prevent contamination that could lead to disease, or in some cases, death."
"Oh, there's a skull face on this one," Wasabi commented as he gestured to another sign. "A skull face!"
They then got quiet as they sneaked over to the enforced door, ready to find a way in. But then there was a sudden twig snap that sent them all into a panic. Wasabi started to swing his laser hands around, Fred breathing fire, GoGo sent one of her disks flying, and Honey Lemon was throwing chemical balls around everywhere. Hiro and Baymax were stuck in the middle of the chaos.
Teresa, Peter, and Peni all watched and were wondering what they were doing. After they finally calmed down, they looked and noticed that it was a bird that set it off. Not to mention that it wasn't harmed and surrounded by their chaos. It then flew off as the disk returned to GoGo.
"That was a bird," Fred commented.
"Well, at least we know that our gear works." Honey Lemon looked at the bright side of things.
Peter sighed and went to grab the door to try and rip it off its hinges. But to his surprise, the door was strong enough that he ripped off the handle. "Wasabi."
Wasabi then used his laser and started to cut a circle around the broken door. Trying to get it into a perfect circle ended up failing as he just groaned and cut it as best as he could. When the door then slid down, they saw the ominous-looking corridor that awaited them.
"Why can't we go somewhere well-lit without the ominous look?" Teresa asked Peter.
"It comes up with the territory." Peter was sorry to admit it.
The nine started to make their way through the building with Fred humming some song he was trying to make up. "Nine intrepid friends led by Fred the leader, Fred. Fred's Angels. Fred's Angels. Harnessing the sun with the ancient amulet they found in the attic. The amulet is green. It's probably an emerald."
"Fred," Wasabi called him out, getting a little stressed as he's not used to these situations. "I will laser hand you in the face."
"Guys. Keep it down." Peter tells the two of them. "Even I know when to keep quiet."
"You do?" Peni and Teresa replied in shock.
Peter sighed and knew that was coming. "Should have seen that coming."
"Baymax, you got anything?" Hiro asks the robot.
"This structure is interfering with my sensor," Baymax reported.
"Perfect. The robot's broken." Wasabi sighed.
Peter then saw an approaching doorway and quickly opened the doors. When he looked inside, he saw there was a lot of damage done here, with a hole in the roof, as well as what looked to be two devices.
"Guys? Come check this out." Peter tells his friends, encouraging them to take a look.
"Whoa." Honey Lemon commented as they walked around.
"What do you think it is, genius?" GoGo asked Hiro.
"I don't know," Hiro admitted when he noticed something on the structure. "But look."
They looked and noticed that the bird sketch Hiro drew was attached to the structure.
"Seems that this has to do with the stuff our masked man was stealing." Peter took a guess.
"Hey." Teresa tapped his shoulder, gesturing to the control room. "Think that'll have some answers?"
"Let's find out," Peter said as they made their way up.
Deciding to let Peter be the first to do it, he was the first to enter the room and search for any traps. Looking around, using his sensors to scan for any traps, he called it safe.
"Clear," Peter said, gesturing for them to come inside.
As they looked around the room, they noticed that there was a security system that was still functioning. The whole system seemed to be on record with the only screen functioning having a certain figure they all knew.
"Krei?" They were shocked to see and rewound the recording.
"We were asked to do the impossible," Krei tells the people with him. "That's what we did. We've reinvented the very concept of transportation. Friends, I present Project Silent Sparrow."
When the device was activated, two blue vortexes opened and were unveiled to be a matter of teleportation.
They took the general's hat and tossed it through, it reappears on the opposite portal.
"Whoa, magic hat!" Fred cried in amazement.
"Teleportation." Keri gloated as the hat was tossed back. "Not science fiction anymore. Now, we didn't spend millions of tax dollars to teleport hats, now did we?" He then made it to the control room and tapped on a button. "Ready to go for a ride, Abigail?"
"We've invited all these people. Might as well give them a show." The pilot said as they entered a pod.
But then one of the scientists picked something up on the screens. "Sir, there appears to be a slight irregularity in the magnetic field."
"Is there a problem, Krei?" The general asks.
"No. No problem. It's well within the parameters. Let's move forward." Krei tells the scientist.
"Oh, this is gonna end in disaster." Peter could easily tell.
And as Peter predicted, the pod entered the first portal just for alarms to blare. The second portal then went up into flames, losing the pilot as well as the room being absorbed into the portal. Before it could become too dangerous, they managed to shut down the experiment.
"The government shut down Keri's experiments." Hiro deduced from the footage.
"And our Man in the Mask, who I am gonna call Yokai, is stealing it," Peter added on.
Teresa gave a questionable look at her brother for the name but lets it go. "So... it's Krei in the mask?"
"It's a possibility." Peter shrugged, feeling something's missing.
Before anyone could continue to ask questions, Peni and Peter's senses went off.
"Uh oh." Both says, as well as Baymax, as Peni closed her suit and Peter placed his mask back on.
Turning around to face where they were leading them, they saw that Yokai was there and carrying rubble.
Before they could react or get out of the way, Yokai sent the rubble flying toward them. Luckily SP and Baymax managed to work fast enough so that they could shield the eight of them from the rubble.
Baymax then used his fist to blast the rumble so they could stop Yokai from escaping.
"Go for the transmitter." Hiro reminded all of them. "Behind his mask!"
Yokai seemed to begin getting annoyed by these kids, but it was hard to tell with the mask. Sending a wave of microbots at the heroes, Baymax once again shielded them. He was the only one to get hit and sent back into the rubble.
"Baymax!" Hiro cried and ran to check on the robot.
"What's the plan?" Wasabi asked the group.
"It's Fred time." Fred stepped ahead of them and placed his mask on. "Super jump!" He then leaped into the air, ready to flop onto the masked man. "Gravity crush!" Then Yokai used the microbots to punch him, sending Fred falling away from him. "Falling hard!"
"So, what's the plan?" Wasabi repeated.
"Get the mask," GoGo snarled as she sped off.
"Right behind you!" Honey proclaimed and ran off to help her.
"We've got your backs!" Teresa said as she and Peni raced in two directions.
"Okay. Looks like we're doing random." Peter shrugged and ran in another direction.
"Seriously, what is the plan?" Wasabi asked, looking for a straight plan.
GoGo went sliding across the room on her wheels while tossing one of her disks. He was able to dodge it and sent a wave of microbots at her. She managed to dodge them and grabbed her disk as it returned to her. Skidding down onto the floor, she tossed it and managed to hit him in the face.
Honey sneaked around and used one of her chemical balls as a cushion and got ready to freeze him with another. As she was preparing it, GoGo was racing around with Yokai following her. Feeling she had another opening; she tossed the disk in her right hand to hit him.
But Yokai dodged it and the disk kept going until it officially hit Honey, who came out of hiding with the chemical ball. When she was hit, she ended up missing when she tossed the chemical ball. Instead of hitting the microbots, they ended up hitting the floor and spreading everywhere.
GoGo ended up slipping across the floor and ramming into Honey. With the two of them out of commission, Wasabi saw he was the only one still standing.
Peter was waiting with his sisters, giving them a chance to use their skills before getting involved themselves.
"Hey, you wanna dance, masked man?" Wasabi asked him, doing a few jumps. "Because you'll be dancing with these!" He then activated his lasers and stood tall. "Hand over the mask, or you'll get a taste of this!" He then swung his arms. "And a little bit of that!"
Wasabi then repeated the actions with his second hand. Yokai didn't seem impressed as he raised several waves of microbots to take him on. Wasabi then whimpered as the microbots came in to fight him. Not then wasabi swung his arms and managed to fight back the waves.
"Hey! I did alright!" Wasabi was surprised. "Is that all you've got?!" But then he looked at his feet and noticed they were layered with microbots. "Oh, you've got that, too?"
Then Yokai sent wasabi flying just as Fred got back to his feet, slamming them into the girls. Seeing their friends were down, Peter and his sisters leaped into action.
"Okay, yeah, not their first appearance," Peter said as he shot webs at Yokai's mask. As he ripped off the webbing, Teresa started to rapidly fire on him. "But come on, wait until the next issue, they'll be unstoppable!"
"Is now the best time to quip?" Teresa asked as she flew and spun her wings to smash a building tower of microbots.
"You got something better to listen to?" Peter asked as he used his mechanical arms to watch his back.
Teresa sighed and missed when a bunch of microbots came from behind and rammed her at full speed. Slamming her to the ground, Peni raced to help her sister as she rammed into the structure. But in the process, the microbots held the SP//DR's hands and legs in place.
"Hey!" Peter cried as he leaped in, punching him in the face. "No one gets to hurt them while I'm around!"
Yokai then sent a wave at Peter as he quickly shot off the ground, punching the microbots and still going. But as he got close enough, activating his arms, Yokai grabbed onto his legs faster than he could react. Peter couldn't fight back as his legs weren't stronger than the force of the microbots, and he was trapped in the middle of it all.
"Come on, if you're gonna capture me, the least you can do is gloat," Peter asked of the masked man. "I'm giving you A Material here."
"Yeah, your jokes are never A Material." Teresa broke to him, trying to escape the swarm of microbots.
"Really?" Peter asked her.
Then Yokai created a giant mash of microbots to crush their friends and got ready to be rid of the Parker's. But before he could finish, Baymax came flying back with Hiro and they managed to put his focus on them instead.
"Oh, thank you!" Peni cried in relief.
As they came back around, Yokai sent a wave of microbots that they managed to dodge. But the closer that they got to him, the easier of a target they became. They were about to hit the masked man when he sent a wave to hit Baymax, in the process knocking Hiro off of his back.
The two ran into one another and sent falling down a stairway. On the fall, the mask was knocked off of Yokai and deactivated the microbots. This managed to free everyone from their restraints and stopped the crush on their friends.
Hiro managed to get back up and grabbed the mask, looking to the back of the masked man. "It's over, Keri."
Everyone walked over to the railing just as Hiro opened his visor. The man then stood and turned to face them, unveiling instead of Keri to be...
Callaghan.
"P... Professor Callaghan?" Hiro asked in shock.
The rest of the group was shocked as Peter even removed his mask to get a look. Peni opened the SP//DR to get a look, shocked at the fact he's alive and was the masked man this whole time.
"The explosion...you died," Hiro stated, feeling this is a trick.
"No. I had your microbots." Callaghan explained how he managed to survive the fire.
Hiro couldn't believe this and remembered the only reason Tadashi went into that building was to save him. "But Tadashi...you guys let him die."
"Give me the mask, Hiro," Callaghan demanded, reaching to take it back.
"He went in there to save you!" Hiro said, taking a few steps back.
"That was his mistake!" Callaghan claimed.
Baymax then came back down, landing behind Hiro. The presence of the robot spooked Callaghan a bit and he froze. Hiro was filled with anger, feeling how the fact that his brother's sacrifice was for nothing. The man he wanted to save was here and was the reason that he was dead.
"Baymax, destroy," Hiro commanded the robot.
Callaghan became scared, wondering if the robot was capable of hurting.
"My programming prevents me from injuring a human being," Baymax informed Hiro.
"Not anymore." Hiro proclaimed as he opened up his access port.
Peter and the others watched, but he was the only one getting some PTSD from Hiro's actions.
"Just give me a chance!"
"What about my uncle?! Did you give him a chance!?"
Hiro took our Tadashi's chip and tossed it across the floor. "Hiro, this isn't what-"
Baymax couldn't even finish his thought when Hiro closed his port, and the kill chip took complete control of his systems.
"Do it, Baymax!" Hiro demanded the robot. "Destroy him!"
Baymax targeted Callaghan with a rocket fist but missed when Peter came down and tackled the robot. Shooting a web at his fist, he yanked it before he could shoot it again.
"Hiro, this won't make things right!" Peter tried to tell Hiro, holding Baymax off at the same time.
"Baymax, stop!" GoGo cried as she tried to hold him back.
The two of them failed to hold him back for long as Baymax tossed GoGo into the wall, then grabbed Peter and flung him in the opposite direction.
Callaghan tried to run from the robot as Fred came in, dragging Baymax away from Callaghan. SP also came in and grabbed Baymax by his fists, trying to hold him down.
"No, stop! He's getting away!" Hiro cried as Callaghan ran and escaped.
Baymax managed to fight SP back on the strength and ripped the arms out and tossed them around. Fred was then grabbed and slammed into Hiro, causing him to drop the mask.
When Callaghan grabbed the mask, he managed to create a bridge out of the microbots so that he could make his escape out of the hole from the roof.
Honey tossed some chemical balls to freeze Baymax, but his armor absorbed most of the cold and shattered the rest. Teresa managed to fly by and grab the healthcare chip before racing to save her friends.
Baymax forced his way through everyone and aimed at Callaghan just as he was escaping with the piece of the portal. Charging his rocket fist, he was preparing to fire when Teresa made it over and inserted the chip back into him.
Everyone was panting and sighed in relief when they saw Baymax was calming down and returning to normal.
"My healthcare protocol has been violated," Baymax said as he helped Peter to his feet. "I regret any distress I may have caused."
"You're good, Buddy," Peter said as he patted him on the shoulder.
"How could you do that?" Hiro asked in anger as he ran over to them. "I had him!"
"We didn't sign up for this," Wasabi tells him.
"We said we'd catch the bad guy." GoGo agreed. "That's it."
"You were about to kill a man, Hiro!" Peter informed the boy as he scoffed, lifting his hand to his face. "That is something that you can never walk away from."
"I never should have let you help me!" Hiro proclaimed to them. "Baymax, find Callaghan."
Baymax tried to, but then his scanner seemed to be broken. "My enhanced scanner has been damaged."
Hiro groaned as he climbed onto his back. "Wings!"
Baymax then got ready to take off as Peter tried to get through to him. "Hiro, trust me, I know what you're going through."
"You couldn't possibly know!" Hiro declared. "Fly!"
And before they could get another word in, Hiro took off with Baymax and flew into the air. Leaving the team behind on Akuma Island.
Peter, out of all of them, was more worried for the boy. He remembered that feeling. That rage. That feeling of if you take away from him what he took from you, then you'll feel better.
But it won't change what happened.
