One nice morning in the Inkwell Isles, Clarence wakes up and goes into town to pick up some new clothes at the mall. He was about to head home until suddenly, the Devil appeared in front of him and yelled,

"You're dead boy!"

But the Devil is electrocuted by Clarence's invisible sweater.

"When are you ever gonna stop trying to kill me?" Clarence asked.

"Never!" The Devil yelled and disappeared.

Clarence sighed, wondering if he was ever going to get a break from the Devil's attempts to kill him.

Day after day, wherever Clarence was, the Devil would appear and try to attack only to get electrocuted again and again. After his last attempt at a restaurant with Gwen, he leaves again.

"You were right Gwen. This sweater is workin' wonders." Clarence said.

"See? I told you, if you keep that sweater on, he can't harm you just like he can't kidnap me when I wear mine." Gwen said as they both continued enjoying their date.

The next day, down in Hell, the Devil sits on his throne angrily. Henchman comes in with a cart with a teapot and a little cup.

"Duh, hey boss, I brought your favorite tea!"

The Devil sighed and took the tea and chugged it down in one gulp.

"I can't get near that boy! She's made him a sweater of his own!" The Devil complained.

"Duh, I'm sorry. But Gwen seems happy with him. I mean, you should just let her go and keep doing your job." Henchman once again advised.

Suddenly, the Devil gets an idea.

"Or… since I can't get near the boy, I'll have someone do the job for me! That's it! Oh, I am a genius!" The Devil said excitedly.

"Aw jeez." Henchman said, worryingly.

"Now, call everyone to the conference room! We're going to have a meeting!" The Devil ordered.

"Yes, boss." Henchman said reluctantly and leaves.

Back at the surface, Clarence is getting ready for his next show and is wondering if he should get someone to help him boost his ratings. He hears a knock at his dressing room door.

"Clarence, ya ready?" Gwen called.

"Be right there Gwen!" Clarence called back, acting like nothing was wrong.

He comes outside as Gwen gives him his ukulele. Clarence takes a deep breath as the announcer began the show. Clarence goes out dancing and playing his ukulele as the audience cheered for him.

Later, the Devil and his workers are in the conference room as the Devil started the meeting.

"Now that I have you all here, I have a special mission. I need a volunteer to dispose that human boy dating my beautiful flower since all my attempts have failed so far. He wears an impenetrable invisible sweater she made for him. Now, who would like to take the mission?" The Devil asked.

All the imps just sat there awkwardly and said nothing.

"No one? Grr! You're all a bunch of babies!" The Devil angrily said as he blew fire, making everyone run out of the room.

The Devil catches his breath and then he heard a familiar voice say,

"I'll do it."

The Devil looked at the door and saw his number one King Dice standing there, his arms folded with a big smile.

"You, King Dice? You want to do the job?" The Devil asked.

"Of course. He's taken my show and he's proving to be more popular with the people than I am. So, I want some payback to that boy, then that girl will be all yours." King Dice said angrily.

"I see. Alright, since you're so good at tricking people, I'll let you do it." The Devil agreed.

"You can count on me boss!" King Dice said proudly with an evil grin.

Meanwhile, at the radio show studio, Clarence finishes up with his radio show for the evening. Clarence goes to his dressing room and prepares to change out of his outfit with his musician assistants helping him. After helping him change, he prepares to go to his apartment when suddenly, he bumps into someone.

"Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't see you there!" Clarence apologized.

But when he looked at the person he bumped into, he realizes it was King Dice himself.

"Oh, who are you?" Clarence asked.

"I am King Dice! The biggest star in showbiz!" King Dice announced and posed.

Clarence looked at him in question. Remembering Gwen warned him about the Devil's self-proclaimed number one.

"Uh, nice to meet you? Look, I gotta go. I must rest up." Clarence said as he attempted to walk past King Dice.

But King Dice wraps his arm around Clarence and said,

"What's the rush boy? Let's hang out for a while. You and me. Come on, I'll buy you a drink." King Dice said in a friendly-like way and leads him outside and takes him to a bar. King Dice buys himself a martini and Clarence just ordered a glass of water with a lemon wedge, feeling nervous.

"So, what do you want from me?" Clarence asked, gathering a bit of courage.

"I just wanna talk. I see you've acquired my old radio show." King Dice said.

"Technically, my girlfriend got me the show. I haven't done anything." Clarence corrected him.

"Of course, she did. You know, she was my dance partner in dancing at the local theater and was even involved with my comeback." King Dice explained.

"Oh, yeah. She told me about that. You had a good radio show from what I heard. You can sing, dance and you even have your own band in your pocket." Clarence said, trying to be nice.

"That's right kid. But don't worry, I don't hold anything against you. After all, we're both big shots in showbiz. So, I was thinking, what if you and I both team up and do some shows together?" King Dice proposed.

"Oh, uh, no thanks. I'm a solo act. Nothing personal." Clarence kindly declined.

"Aw come on kid. I could show you how to gain more popularity. You know, give you a little boost?" King Dice asked, being persuasive.

Clarence thought for a moment, unsure if he should trust King Dice. After hesitating, he said,

"Okay, maybe I'll give it a try."

"Perfect! We'll start first thing tomorrow!" King Dice said excitedly, and they both leave the bar.

Clarence walks back to his apartment and heads off to bed, unsure if he was doing the right thing or not.

The next day, Clarence gets ready for work and when he arrives at the radio show studio, he is surprised to see King Dice at the stage, waiting for him.

"Oh, you're here already?" Clarence asked.

"That's right boy. What do say we get started?" King Dice asked as he gathered his card assistants along with Clarence's instrument assistants.

King Dice and Clarence started with some rehearsals on his song and dance act while Clarence did his usual act with his ukulele along with singing and dancing. King Dice gives Clarence some tips on poses, his facial expressions and dance moves. For a while, Clarence slowly begins to warm up to King Dice and looked up to him as a mentor. This gets the attention of his cup friends Cuphead and Mugman and inform Gwen of what Clarence is up to.

After a few shows, King Dice and Clarence begin to bond and started doing some gigs together. One day after a show, King Dice and Clarence both rest up together in the dressing room with their assistants helping them out.

"That was amazing King Dice. I can't believe our ratings have rose higher than ever." Clarence admitted.

"What did I tell you? We'll go places, you and me kid." King Dice said as he placed his arm around Clarence.

Clarence smiled, feeling like he had a father-figure to guide him.

"Well, I better get going. And you better get some rest. We got a big show to do tomorrow at the casino. You and I are gonna be the guest performers." King Dice said.

"Well, you manage that casino. So, they know you already." Clarence pointed out.

"True, but you and I are really gonna blow those folks away." King Dice assured him.

"Well, good night, Dice." Clarence said and left the dressing room.

Clarence heads back to his apartment to rest up. But to his surprise, he finds Gwen inside waiting for him.

"Oh, hey Gwen. You started me." Clarence said.

"I see you have a partner for your show, huh?" Gwen asked, feeling ticked off.

"Oh, um…" Clarence said nervously.

"With a certain narcissistic, bigshot, back-stabbing dice-blockhead?" Gwen asked.

"Look, I can explain!" Clarence said defensively.

"Clarence! What did I tell you about King Dice?!" Gwen scolded.

"That he's a crook and that he's the Devil's number one?" Clarence answered.

"That's right! So, why are you spending time with him?!" Gwen asked angrily.

"I'm sorry Gwen! He was very persuasive and charismatic! But he's even given me pointers in show business and helped rose my ratings!" Clarence explained.

"This is all part of his ruse! He's trying to get close to you and be your friend right up to the moment he'll stab you in the back! He's almost done that to me before!" Gwen reminded him of her experience with the ballroom recital incident.

"Look, Gwen. I know you don't trust him, but he's really been helping me out. We have a show to do at the casino tomorrow night. You and the cups should come." Clarence said, trying to calm Gwen down.

"Ugh! I gotta go, but I warn you, he's only out for himself and his boss! I won't say 'I told you so!'" Gwen angrily said as she leaves through the door portal back to the cottage.

Clarence stood there, feeling guilty for teaming up with King Dice. He goes upstairs to bed and tries to brush off the argument.

Back at the cottage, Gwen goes into her room and lays down in bed in frustration. She hears a knock at her door.

"Come in." Gwen mumbled.

Cuphead and Mugman come into her room.

"Something's wrong again." Cuphead said as they sit on her bed next to her.

"It's Clarence. I warned him about King Dice, but he's been doing gigs with him, and he didn't even tell me!" Gwen said frustratingly.

"Gwen, deep breaths." Mugman said as he placed his hand on her back, calming her down.

Gwen took a few deep breaths and calmed down.

"I gotta stop King Dice from whatever he's planning to do to Clarence at that show tomorrow night at the casino. I tried to talk Clarence out of performing, but he won't listen." Gwen said.

"We'll help you, Gwen. Just tell us what we need to do since you're good at stopping him." Mugman said.

Gwen realizes Mugman is right. She is good at stopping King Dice.

"You're right Mugsy. We gotta stop King Dice! Tomorrow night, we're going to that show and save Clarence! We gotta stop him from making the biggest mistake of his life!" Gwen said quickly.

"That's our Gwen!" Cuphead said.

The next night at the Devil's Casino, Clarence and King Dice were getting ready backstage. Clarence feels guilty for not listening to Gwen as he started to have second thoughts about the show.

"You know, maybe I shouldn't do this." Clarence said.

"Why not? You'll be fine kid. Just get out there and show them what you can do." King Dice assured him.

"I don't know, it's just that…" Clarence tried to speak until suddenly he is surrounded by King Dice's assistants, holding him hostage.

"What the? What's going on?!" Clarence asked fearfully as he struggled to break free. King Dice walked up to Clarence with an evil look on his face.

"You know boy, I have to say when you agreed to team up with me, I was very touched you were willing to help me. But unfortunately, it's like you said, 'I'm a solo act.' Well guess what? So am I. Because I never guessed a scrub like you would try steal my limelight. Did you really think I was gonna let you ride my coattails to the top? Ha! Get real boy! Once you out of the picture forever, I'll reclaim the limelight for myself, and the boss will have his beautiful flower!" King Dice evilly declared.

Clarence's heart sank, being betrayed and realized Gwen was right about King Dice.

"I can't believe Gwen was right about you, you dirty cheating sleazeball!" Clarence angrily yelled.

"Oh, before I go on stage, I'll take that. Thank you." King Dice said as he grabbed Clarence's invisible sweater and pulled it off him, exposing him.

"Once the show's over, you're gonna be pushing up daisies!" King Dice taunted and laughed evilly.

"Lock him up!" King Dice ordered his card assistants.

The cards take Clarence away and tie and gag him up. Then, they lock him in a broom closet and leave.

Clarence struggled to break free, but it was no use and could only wait for something to happen.

Meanwhile, Gwen and the cups along with Ms. Chalice arrive inside the casino and looked for Clarence.

"Guys, we need to sneak backstage without anybody noticing." Gwen said as she studied the stage.

"I know how to get back there!" Ms. Chalice said as she shapeshifted into her ghost form.

She possesses an imp and walks up to Gwen and said,

"Come on Gwen!"

Gwen shapeshifted into her ghost form with the inkwell and said to the cups,

"Guys, you stay out here and keep an eye out for King Dice. Chalice and I are gonna find Clarence!"

"You got it Gweny!" Both cups said.

"And Cuphead, no gambling!" Gwen warned Cuphead.

"I'll make sure he doesn't!" Mugman assured her.

"Great!" Gwen said and went to possess an imp.

Once she gains control of the imp, she said to the imp possessed by Ms. Chalice.

"Okay, I got him. Let's go!"

Both possessed imps sneak backstage and find King Dice getting ready in his dressing room.

"Wait, where's Clarence?" Gwen asked.

"I'll bet you a dollar he's being tied up somewhere from the look of it." Ms. Chalice said.

"Let's get looking!" Gwen said.

They both search the area until Ms. Chalice reached the broom closet and barely caught a sound of Clarence trying to yell through his gag.

"Girlfriend! Over here!" Ms. Chalice whispered.

Gwen runs up to the broom closet and opened the door to see Clarence tied up and gagged. Both girls exit the imp's bodies and shapeshifted back to their living forms. Gwen quickly hits both imps on their heads, knocking them unconscious. Gwen and Ms. Chalice quickly untie Clarence and ungag him.

"Gwen! Ms. Chalice! You came!" Clarence said, finally able to speak.

"Yeah, the cups are here too out in the audience keeping watch!" Gwen said.

"So, what happened? Why were you in there?" Ms. Chalice asked.

"Oh, Gwen! I'm so sorry! I should've listened to you! You were right about King Dice! He removed my invisible sweater and they're gonna kill me after the show!" Clarence apologized, feeling guilty.

Ms. Chalice takes off to look for something.

"I figured he was planning something. He always has a trick up his dirty sleeve every time we cross paths." Gwen said.

"Thanks for not rubbing it in." Clarence added.

"It's okay, I thought it'd be best to learn for yourself as I did for myself too." Gwen said.

"I promise to listen to you from now on. After all, you are my manager, not him." Clarence promised.

"Okay. Now if you needed to boost your fame, you should talk to me from now on!" Gwen stated her condition.

"I promise that too." Clarence agreed.

"Okay, you both made up, now we gotta stop him!" Ms. Chalice said as she saw King Dice entering the stage.

"I think I have an idea! Chalice! Let's possess those imps again! Clarence let's get you back into these ropes and gag! We're gonna expose King Dice for his trick!" Gwen explained.

"Okay!" Clarence agreed to the plan.

Gwen uses her ink pen and magically ties and gags Clarence back up. Gwen and Ms. Chalice both shapeshifted into their ghost forms and once again possess the unconscious imps. They take Clarence and hide behind some boxes. They notice on the stage King Dice performing until the audience demanded for Clarence since they also paid to come watch him perform.

"I'm sure he'll be here. I do hope nothing happened to him." King Dice said innocently.

Just then, the possessed imps shove Clarence onstage, exposing King Dice's lie. The audience gasped as Gwen has the imp use the ink pen and magically untie Clarence. Clarence gets up, ungags himself and angrily glanced at King Dice.

"Oh, something did happen to be all because of you!"

The audience gasped and booed at King Dice as he nervously laughed.

"Oh, come on. How could I have anything to do with this?" King Dice tried to lie about his involvement.

Gwen stormed on the stage in her human form, making King Dice realize she came to Clarence's rescue.

"With my help of course! Don't ever come near him again or else!" Gwen yelled.

Gwen once again punches King Dice in the face, knocking him off stage. The audience laughs and cheers for Gwen. After punching King Dice, Gwen has Cuphead and Mugman bring Clarence's ukulele to him. And has Clarence's band set up on the stage. After everything was set up, Gwen goes up to the microphone and says,

"And now ladies and gentlemen, here to perform for you tonight is the one and only Clarence Hopewell!"

The audience cheers as a spotlight shown on Clarence. Gwen exits the stage with the cups as Clarence started his show. Ms. Chalice decided to dance on the stage, impressing the audience. Clarence notices this and lets her continue to dance. After the show, the audience cheers Clarence and Ms. Chalice and both bowed.

"Thank you everybody! Let's give a round of applause for my little friend Ms. Chalice here!" Clarence said as waved his arm to Ms. Chalice.

The audience applaud for Ms. Chalice as she took another bow. Gwen and the cups watch from backstage. Just then, the Devil appears on stage, very angry.

"My good-for-nothing lackey King Dice may've not finished the job, but at least you are now exposed! So, bye-bye boy!" The Devil yelled and aimed his pitchfork at Clarence.

Ms. Chalice grabbed something and jumped at the Devil, shoving Clarence's invisible sweater and electrocuting him severely. Gwen attacks the Devil with her usual attacks, beating him up once again. After a while, Gwen removes the sweater off the Devil and puts it back on Clarence. She goes up to the Devil and says,

"You didn't think this would happen without me catching on, did you?! Now stay away from us!"

Gwen gives the Devil another punch in the nose knocking him off the stage on top of King Dice, making the audience laugh. The Devil groaned and said,

"This isn't over Gwen!"

He tapped his pitchfork, and both King Dice and himself disappeared back to Hell to receive medical treatment from Henchman once again.

Gwen turned around and asked Ms. Chalice,

"How did you find the sweater?"

"I felt something unusual when you were onstage on that coatrack earlier. I figured it was important." Ms. Chalice explained.

"Thank you, Chalice." Clarence said and hugged her.

"You're welcome, handsome." Ms. Chalice answered.

The audience awed at them hugging and applauded them.

The next day at Clarence's apartment, Clarence prepares to get ready for work until he hears a knock at the door. He opens it and sees Gwen outside.

"Hey, you ready?" Gwen asked.

Clarence looked sad and nodded.

"What's wrong? Got butterflies in your stomach?" Gwen asked.

"No, I feel bad for not listening to you. And I wanna thank you for saving me from King Dice and the Devil again. Is there anything I could do to make it up to you?" Clarence asked.

"Hmm, there is one thing. After the show, you and I are going out." Gwen said.

"Just name any place you want, and I'll pay for it." Clarence said.

"Oh, it won't be just us." Gwen said.

"Oh, are they coming too?" Clarence asked.

"Yep. They helped save you too. So, they deserve a reward from you." Gwen pointed out.

"Oh, okay then." Clarence agreed.

Later that evening, Clarence and Gwen eat at the fancy restaurant with the three cups tagging along. After dinner, the five head over to Inkwell Pier to ride some rides. Cuphead and Mugman ride the Obliterator ride again and lose their clothes while Ms. Chalice played some games and winning prizes. Gwen and Clarence ride the Tunnel-of-Love ride. When they get off the ride, the three cups all taunt,

"Clarence and Gwen sittin' in a tree! K-I-S-S-I-N-G!"

Gwen slightly giggled while Clarence felt a little embarrassed. Then again, he knew he deserved it for not listening to Gwen.

"Alright guys, I think we should get to the movies. The new movie is playing tonight." Gwen said.

"Yay!" All three said at once.

At the movies, the three cups munch on popcorn while Gwen and Clarence sipped on some soda together. They look at each other as Gwen smiled, forgiving Clarence. They both lean in for a kiss until they stop, realizing the three cups were watching and were about to taunt again.

"Guys!" Gwen scolded.

The three cups look away and snickered. Gwen and Clarence both kissed and he wrapped his arm around Gwen.

Later that night, the five return to the cottage. Gwen escorts Clarence back to his apartment through the door portal. Just as Gwen was about to leave, Clarence asked,

"Hey, Gwen? Uh, I've been thinking. You think I could have Ms. Chalice perform with me for my shows? She really was a hit at the casino."

"Hmm, you know, I think she'd actually make a great addition for the show. Thank you for asking me this time." Gwen said, feeling proud of Clarence.

"You're welcome, Gwen. I definitely learned my lesson." Clarence said.

They both kiss goodnight and Gwen leaves back to the cottage.

The next day, Clarence performed his show with Ms. Chalice performing alongside with him. Ms. Chalice is a hit with Clarence and became his young partner for his show. From then on, Clarence learned to ask Gwen for whatever he needed help with and not trusting anyone she warned him about.
