It was a nice sunny morning in the Inkwell Isles and Gwen decided to go for another walk in the forest. She was still recovering from saying goodbye to her grandfather Earnest in the Land of the Dead. She walks along a trail in the woods and admires the beauty of the forest. Just then, three squirrels approach Gwen chittering.
"Okay, okay little fellas." Gwen said, giggling as she got out her ink pen.
She magically makes a handful of acorns in her hand and hands them down to the squirrels. They each grab some acorns and move them into their tree until her hand was empty.
"See ya fellas later!" Gwen said, waving goodbye.
The squirrels chittered and waved goodbye to Gwen as she continues her walk.
Just then, she hears her sister Rose calling,
"Gwen!"
Gwen turned around and saw Rose running up to her.
"Hey, Rose! What's up?" Gwen asked.
"Mind if I tag along with you?" Rose asked.
"No, not at all." Gwen said.
Both sisters walked down the trail in the forest together and chatting. Just then they heard a loud screeching sound, making the sisters stop.
"W-w-what was that?" Rose nervously asked.
"I think I know who that is." Gwen said looking up in the sky.
Above the sisters, flew the giant three-headed dragon Grim Matchstick as he landed in front of the sisters. Rose gasped in horror and hid behind a tree.
"Grim Matchstick! How are you doing?" Gwen asked as his three heads lowered down to her.
Rose peeked from behind the tree and stared in shock as Gwen hugged the three heads.
"Gwen? You know this dragon?" Rose asked.
"Yes, he's a friend of mine. Come here and say 'hi'. He won't hurt you; I promise." Gwen assured her.
Rose nervously approaches Grim Matchstick with caution.
"Nice dragon. Good dragon." Rose nervously said.
One of Grim's heads approached Rose as she flinched. His head sniffed her as Rose opened her eyes. One of Grim's other heads lowered down to Gwen, gesturing her to get on.
"Oh, okay." Gwen said as she climbed on the back of Grim's head as he lifts her up.
"Gwen? What are you doing?" Rose asked as she looked up.
Before she knew it, Grim's other head opened his mouth, gently grabbed Rose and lifted her up.
"No! What are you doing?!" Rose yelled.
"Don't worry Rose! He won't hurt you!" Gwen reminded her.
Grim places Rose on another head as Rose fearfully grasped his ears.
"You might wanna hold on." Gwen warned Rose.
Grim started to flap his wings, lifted into the sky and flew off.
"No! Wait! I'm afraid of heights!" Rose protested.
Grim Matchstick flew with the sisters across the sky and above the clouds. Gwen enjoys the flight except Rose kept her eyes closed due to her fear of heights.
"It's okay sis! I've done this before with the cups!" Gwen called to Rose.
"I had a feeling! Where is he taking us?!" Rose called back.
"I don't know! But I think we'll get our answer soon!" Gwen answered.
Grim flew down past the clouds down to the island of Mt. Eruptus. Gwen realized he was taking them to his nest on the volcano.
"Oh! He's bringing us to his nest on Mt. Eruptus!" Gwen called to Rose.
"Mt. Eruptus? Oh no." Rose answered nervously.
"Don't worry. We'll be okay." Gwen assured her.
Grim Matchstick lands in his nest on the volcano, two of the heads lower the sisters in the nest as Rose breathed heavily from the long flight. Gwen noticed the little baby three-headed dragon chirping happily at Gwen.
"Hey sweetie. Your daddy brought me here." Gwen said in a baby-like talk.
Gwen lifts the baby in her arms as all three heads licked her face, happy to see her again. Then she noticed Rose staring at her in shock.
"You okay sis?" Gwen asked as she petted the baby dragon.
"I'm fine. How do have these kinds of friends that don't eat you?" Rose asked.
"Because I carry the magic inkwell. He needed my help rescuing this little guy from poachers." Gwen said as she tickled under one of the head's chins.
"Wanna meet my sister?" Gwen asked the baby.
The little baby nodded as Gwen handed the baby dragon to Rose.
"Don't worry, he won't hurt you either. He's a baby." Gwen assured her.
"Um, okay." Rose said as she he reached her hands to the baby and lifted him in her arms.
"Uh, hello?" Rose asked.
The baby dragon sniffed Rose, then he chirped happily, and all three heads licked her face. Rose laughed and said,
"Okay, okay little guy. Nice to meet you too."
"I knew they'd love you too. You're a parent yourself." Gwen said with a smile.
The baby dragon snuggled into Rose's chest as she petted him. Grim Matchstick lowered one of his heads down to Gwen as she petted him.
"Am I to assume you just brought me here to visit along with my sister?" Gwen asked.
Grim nodded as he settled in the nest above the sisters.
"Grim, this is my sister Rose Smith." Gwen introduced.
Grim Matchstick lowered his heads down to Rose and snuggled against her and his baby.
"Aw Rose, you made new friends." Gwen complimented.
"Yeah, I noticed." Rose said as she was being snuggled too much.
After a while of hanging out in the nest, Grim Matchstick flies the sisters back to the cottage. After saying goodbye, Grim Matchstick flies away back to his baby at Mt. Eruptus.
"That was amazing." Rose admitted.
"Yeah. It's amazing who you'll meet here." Gwen said.
"Alright. Well, I better get back and check on Emma and Jack. I'll see you later." Rose said giving Gwen a hug.
"You too sis." Gwen said.
"Oh, and Gwen? No vandalizing the casino, no tampering with their machines, no prank calling them, no messing with King Dice, no pretending to be the Devil and tell those imps they have 'rest the year off'. And above all… no pranks on the Devil… again." Rose sternly reminded her.
"Oh, you're no fun Rose. Besides, those imps deserved time off for a while before the Devil caught on to that trick." Gwen said.
"I'm serious Gwen. Last time it almost got you kidnapped and us killed, remember? He's already figured out you were trying to make him hate you, but it won't work anymore. Sooner or later, it's gonna get you into a lot of trouble." Rose reminded her.
Gwen sighed and said,
"Yes, I know. I just want him to suffer like he's made me suffer."
"You remember the old saying: Pick your fights carefully? Just promise me you will never go near the Devil's Casino or Hell again. Pinky promise?" Rose asked her as she held up her pinky finger.
Gwen took a deep breath and held up her pinky finger and locked each other's pinkies.
"I promise." Gwen reluctantly agreed.
"Alright then. I'll talk to you later sis. Love you." Rose said and stepped through the door portal.
"You too sis." Gwen answered.
Gwen sighed and went inside the cottage and went upstairs to her room. She sat on her bed, got out her sketchbook and sketched to cheer herself up. Her little butterfly fluttered in her face, making her giggle.
"Aw, thanks little buddy. Rose made me promise her to stop pranking the Devil." Gwen said.
The butterfly lands on her sketchbook and gives her a look.
"I know, I know little buddy. She's just looking out for me like she's always have. I just want the Devil to suffer as he's made me, and Grandpa Earnest suffer." Gwen admitted.
The little butterfly smiled and gave her a hopeful look.
"I know. 'It's gonna be okay Gwen'. I hope so too." Gwen said.
Gwen looked at her little potted flower on her bedroom windowsill and nodded at her. Gwen smiled and continued sketching.
"You know, if it were possible, what if I could get one of those 'restraining orders' against him?" Gwen asked herself.
The butterfly and the flower shook their heads.
"No, you're right. He could easily destroy the restraining order and violate it. He is the Devil after all. Nothing gets past him." Gwen realized.
Gwen groaned fell back on her bed.
"Ugh! Think Gwen think! What haven't I tried yet?" Gwen asked frustratingly.
The butterfly thinks for a moment, then gets an idea. He fluttered in Gwen's face.
"Hmm? What is it buddy?" Gwen asked, looking up.
The butterfly flew over to her glass of water and made a face behind the glass. Gwen giggled, assuming he was being funny.
"That's cute face you're making. It almost makes you look like…"
Gwen was about to say until she realized what the butterfly was really saying.
"Wait, are you saying that I should pay a visit to… Quadratus?" Gwen asked, figuring it out.
The butterfly nodded, confirming her answer.
"But he already told me to make an invisible sweater for me and Clarence. But the Devil's grown smarter now. And I remember that advice about 'love and friendship and trust'. But I really need something to make him leave me alone for good." Gwen said.
The butterfly fluttered in her face and gave her a look.
"Okay, okay. I'm not sure about this, but I trust you." Gwen said.
The butterfly smiled and gave her another flutter in her face, making her giggle again.
"Okay, okay buddy. I'll go see Quadratus." Gwen said.
Gwen packed her satchel and leaves her room. She stepped outside the cottage and starts her way to the forest. Cuphead and Mugman were just playing football notice this and decided to follow Gwen to see what she's up to.
Later, Gwen reaches the ancient ring of stones and finds the pool of water. Gwen knelt to the water, magically created a jawbreaker. Gwen sighed and said to herself,
"I hope I know what I'm doing."
Gwen dropped the jawbreaker into the water, making it fizz. Once again, the water glowed, and a wind blew around her.
"Your heart is troubled young Gwendolyn, for your patience with fighting the Devil is wearing thin!" Quadratus called out.
"I know and I can't take it anymore. I feel like nothing I do is working! I'm running out of options! I don't know what else to do! This fight will never end!" Gwen yelled in frustration as she held her head in her hands.
Quadratus appeared in the water and said,
"Calm down young human don't despair, because hope for you is still there."
"What hope? I still have the invisible sweater and so does Clarence. But the Devil's grown smarter at getting those removed off me and him. I thought playing pranks on him would make him hate me that he'd give up on marrying me, but he caught on to that. And now, Rose made me promise her to never go near the casino or Hell again. She thinks it's gonna get me in more trouble soon. What am I supposed to do now? Get a restraining order or something? Yeah right!" Gwen monologued her situation.
Gwen then broke down crying.
"Young human please don't yelp, better yet crying won't help." Quadratus told her.
Gwen wiped her tears and looked at Quadratus.
"Gwendolyn, you are under a lot of stress and it's understandable. But you need to calm down. You have your friends and your family who love you very much. But your sister is right, you need to choose your battles wisely. Do not anger the Devil any further because he warned you the consequences will get more dire." Quadratus advised her.
"Then, what should I do? Just wait till he strikes again and kidnaps another relative or friend and blackmail me again? What will it take for him leave me alone for good?" Gwen asked.
"Gwendolyn, I'm afraid all you can do is just keep wearing your invisible sweater and keep fighting him off whenever he strikes. Plus, you need to stop with your childish pranks. Making the Devil suffer for your amusement is not going to solve anything. Don't stoop down to his level. You need to live your life with your family and your friends. Don't they make you happy?" Quadratus asked.
Gwen sniffled and answered,
"Yes. They do."
"Just remember this whenever you feel like you've given up: You are not alone." Quadratus advised her.
"You sound like my grandfather Earnest." Gwen said.
"He really was a good man. And he's always with you no matter where you go." Quadratus complimented.
Just then, Gwen heard a rustle noise in the bushes. She turned around and saw no one. Gwen realized immediately who was right there and smiled.
"Cuphead, I know that's you." Gwen called out.
Cuphead sighed and comes out of the bushes.
"Hey Gweny." Cuphead said nervously.
"Mugsy, you too." Gwen called out.
Mugman comes out of the bushes next to Cuphead.
"How do you do that Gwen?" Mugman asked.
"I know you guys, remember?" Gwen reminded them.
"Oh. Right." Both cups said.
"What are you guys doing out here?" Gwen asked.
"We saw you leaving the cottage and wanted to see what was up." Cuphead answered.
"Guys, I've been a little upset lately. It's okay, Quadratus helped me out again." Gwen explained.
"Boys, keep being there for your 'sister'. Remind her that she's not alone." Quadratus told the cups.
"Alone? What are you talking about? She's not alone at all." Mugman asked.
"I mean, with her struggles and battles with the Devil, she feels alone." Quadratus explained.
"Oh." Both cups said.
Both cups come up to Gwen and hug her.
"Gwen, we know you're sick and tired of the Devil coming after you. But you need to ignore him and just continue living your life with us, your family, Clarence and our other friends. Earnest wanted you to do that, remember?" Mugman pointed out.
"Really Mugsy?" Gwen asked.
"Yeah. You should wear your invisible sweater again. Then, the Devil will have to stay away from you. Every time he tries to kidnap you, just ignore him. Don't be too worried about it." Cuphead suggested.
"Maybe you guys are right." Gwen said.
"Remember what I said before. Listen to your friends, for you they are there. Feeling sad and scared will not get you anywhere." Quadratus reminded her.
"Oh yeah. Okay Quadratus. Thank you." Gwen thanked the oracle.
"You're always welcome my child. Good day to you all." Quadratus said goodbye and disappeared from the water.
Gwen and the cups head back to the cottage. Gwen puts on her invisible sweater and joins the cups, and all go get ice cream from the Ice Cream Man in his ice cream truck. They walk down the road back home when all of a sudden, the Devil appeared out of nowhere.
"I've got you now Gwen!" The Devil said evilly.
But before he could grab her… ZAP!
"GRRR! You're wearing that dumb sweater again?!" The Devil yelled.
But on the advice of her friends, Gwen just ignored the Devil and kept walking and eating their ice creams. The Devil is confused why Gwen just ignored him. He follows them tried to block their path.
"Hey! Don't you dare ignore me! You're coming with me!" The Devil yelled.
Gwen and the cups look at him unfazed.
"I don't have time for you. And again, no I'm not. We gotta go. Goodbye." Gwen said.
"Goodbye!" Both cups said.
They walked past the Devil as Cuphead turned around and blew a raspberry at him. The Devil growled and disappeared back to Hell.
Down in Hell, all the imps were tending to their duties as usual when they hear their boss announce,
"Attention all workers! Please report to the conference room immediately for a meeting!"
All the imps including Stickler and Henchman all report to the conference room and the Devil sits in his chair.
"Alright everyone, I have an announcement to make. Due to low productivity, I have decided to extend working hours! Plus, you're all going to have to face pay cuts and your lunch break will now be 5 minutes!" The Devil announced.
All the imp's eyes popped, and all groaned in frustration.
"QUIET!" Yelled the Devil.
All the imps stopped groaning.
"And I all expect you all to double the amount of work around here! Meeting adjourned, now back to work!" The Devil scolded.
The imps all leave the conference room and grumbling angrily. The auditor Stickler was preparing his sandwich for his lunch. He was getting fed up with his lunches always stolen so he devised a trick. He places a ghost chili pepper in his sandwich. He bags it up and places it in the community refrigerator.
"Hopefully this'll help identify the thief." Stickler said to himself.
Later, Stickler is going over the books when suddenly he heard his boss screaming. Stickler comes over and peeks over at the refrigerator and spots the Devil drinking gallons of water and sweating from the ghost chili pepper sandwich. Stickler realizes that it was his own boss all along that was stealing their lunches.
Stickler leaves and gathers all the imps for a secret meeting behind the Devil and Henchman's backs.
"Thanks for coming everyone. I have discovered it was our very own boss who was stealing our lunches all along." Stickler announced.
All the imps gasped.
"That jerk!" One imp said.
"We should've known!" Another imp added.
"We gotta do something! He's already making those stupid unfair changes!" A third imp said.
"Precisely. We have been treated like trash for too long by our sorry excuse for a boss. I believe the time has come for us to act. It is time to go on strike." Stickler announced.
"Yeah!" All the imps agreed.
"What we must do is make picket signs, make protest speeches and demand respect from the Devil for all the wasted years slaving away for him while he just sits back and watches us suffer." Stickler said.
"One problem, we don't have plywood or poster boards. We don't even know how to make protest speeches." One imp pointed out.
"True. We need to get some and write our speeches, but from where?" Stickler asked.
"I know who could help us!" Another imp said.
"Who?" Asked Stickler.
Back at the surface, Gwen was out in the abandoned garden planting new flowers her friend Cagney Carnation gave her. Just then, she heard a familiar voice.
"Ehm! Excuse me!"
Gwen cringed and turned around and saw Stickler along with the other imps approaching her from the elevator.
"Stickler? What are you and the others doing here? Did your boss send you to kidnap me or negotiate with me?" Gwen asked, confused.
"Relax Miss Emmons, we are not here to kidnap you or negotiate with you. We have come to ask you for your help with something." Stickler answered.
"With what?" Gwen asked.
"We have had enough of our boss treating us like trash and he has recently made unfair changes in our work environment. So, we have all decided to go on strike." Stickler explained.
"Oh, good for you guys. But what does this have to do with me?" Gwen asked.
"We were hoping maybe you could help us out? We don't have stuff to make picket signs or how to write protest speeches." One imp answered.
"Hmm, so you guys want me to make you picket signs and help you write protest speeches?" Gwen asked, making sure that was what they really want.
All the imps nodded.
Gwen thinks for a moment, then gets an idea.
"Okay, I'll help you guys with the picket signs and protest speeches. But on one condition: once you have all that stuff, you guys will have to do this strike yourselves. I need to stay away from Hell since I promised I'd never go back there. Okay?" Gwen stated her conditions.
"It's a deal Miss Emmons." Stickler said as he and Gwen shake on it.
Gwen magically creates picket signs and has the imps write various messages saying, 'Devil Unfair!', 'Boss Unfair!', 'More Work, Less Pay, No Way!', 'We want regular pay and our breaks back!' and 'We Demand Respect!'
Gwen writes a protest speech on what the imps want from their boss.
"Okay guys that ought to do it." Gwen said as she finished up the speech.
"This will do quite nicely." Stickler said, looking at the speech.
"Well, good luck guys." Gwen said as she gets up and leaves the abandoned garden.
Stickler and the imps go back in the elevator back to Hell. When they arrive in Hell, they all step out, only for them to realize their boss was sitting angrily on his throne, waiting for them.
"There you all are you idiots! Why aren't you all at your posts working?!" The Devil impatiently asked.
Stickler and the imps raise their picket signs and all marched in a circle.
"What do we want?" One imp yelled.
"Fair changes!" All the imps answered.
"When do we want them?" The imp asked.
"NOW!" All imps answered.
The imps continued yelling what they wanted such as fair treatment, wages, shorter hours, time off, raises, promotions, health and retirement benefits.
"You have recently made unfair changes in our work environment, and we have recently found out it was you who was stealing our lunches out of the community refrigerator. We've had enough of the way you are treating us like your slaves and being mean to us. We demand respect and fair treatment from you, and we will continue to strike until you give us what we want." Stickler read the speech.
"Aw jeez." Henchman said worryingly.
The Devil growled furiously at the imps and stood up from his throne. He calms himself and faces the protesting imps.
"Wow, what a beautiful speech that was. And what a beautiful gesture you all are doing. Maybe I was being a bit unfair. I guess I have no choice but to tell you all…"
All the imps leaned forward, hoping they got through to him. But the Devil took a deep breath.
"…YOU'RE ALL FIRED!" The Devil roared.
At the surface, Stickler and the imps are kicked out of Hell, now unemployed.
"Well, now what? We're all out of jobs." One imp asked.
"I know who we could talk to." Another imp suggested.
"Let me guess. Miss Emmons again?" Stickler asked.
"Yep." The imp answered.
At the cottage, Gwen is sketching in her sketchbook until she heard a knock at the door. She gets up and answers the door. Only to find Stickler and the imps all outside.
"Guys. What are you all doing here? I thought you were all doing your strike?" Gwen asked as she stepped outside and closed the door.
"We did do our strike. But unfortunately…" Stickler was about to explain until Gwen interrupted.
"He fired you all, didn't he?" Gwen asked, figuring it out.
"Yes, he did." Stickler confirmed her answer.
"But why are you all here?" Gwen asked.
"Well, since we're now unemployed, we were hoping perhaps you could let us work for you?" Stickler asked.
"What? Me? But I'm just a teenager. I can't be your boss." Gwen protested.
"But Gwen, you're nicer than our old boss. We'll do anything for you! Please?" One imp pleaded as he got down on his knees and held her dress.
Gwen thinks for a moment and gets another idea.
"Well, okay. I could use some help with the house cleaning around the cottage while Elder Kettle and the cups are running errands." Gwen suggested.
"Yay!" All the imps cheered.
Gwen magically creates cleaning supplies and puts all the imps to work cleaning the cottage. Gwen allows them to take breaks treats them better than their old boss did.
Meanwhile down in Hell, the Devil and Henchman look at the empty network station.
"Okay, okay. This'll be easy as pie. Running the operation shouldn't be hard." The Devil said.
"I dunno boss. It's harder with two people here running all the machines and counting all the souls." Henchman warned.
"Don't be ridiculous Henchman. Now get working!" The Devil ordered.
Henchman quickly gets to work, trying to operate the machines. But the workload becomes unbearable for Henchman and the Devil as he struggled to keep up. The Devil slowly started to realize running his operation was much harder than he thought. But he tries to continue anyway with Henchman's help.
Back at the surface, Gwen has the imps clean her training grounds. Afterwards, she has them tend to her garden at the abandoned garden. While the imps are busy, Gwen sneaks off with her best friends to the amusement park to have some fun. But as Gwen and the cups were about to have their fun a familiar voice called,
"Ehm! Excuse me!"
Gwen cringed and turned around and saw Stickler and the imps, discovering they have followed her to the amusement park.
"Oh, hey fellas. What are you all doing here?" Gwen asked while the cups stood in shock.
"We have finished cleaning your home and your garden is up and running. So, what are we to do now?" Stickler asked.
The imps looked at Gwen eagerly. Gwen thinks for a moment and has another idea. Gwen knelt down to the imps.
"Well, because you all did such a good job, I've got a special surprise for you all." Gwen announced.
Gwen treats all the imps to a fun day at the amusement park, to their joy. They ride various rides, play carnival games and eat junk food. Meanwhile, the cups look to Gwen for an explanation.
"Hey Gwen? What's with the Devil's imps? You said you were gonna ignore him?" Cuphead asked.
"I am ignoring him, but those imps got fired for striking against their own boss. So, they turned to me for work. I'm their new boss now." Gwen explained.
"But Gwen, you can't be their boss. You don't have any experience of running an operation or dealing with your workers." Mugman said.
"Well, they seem to like working for me so far." Gwen said, looking at the imps having fun.
Later after a long day of having fun, Gwen, the cups and all the imps all prepare to leave when all of a sudden, a puff of smoke appeared. The Devil along with Henchman appeared right in front of the group.
"Ah! The Devil!" Both cups exclaimed and hid behind Gwen.
"What do you want now?" Gwen asked impatiently.
"I'm not here for you dear, I'm here for them!" The Devil answered.
"Why? They work for me now. You fired them, remember?" Gwen reminded him.
"Don't be ridiculous Gwen. Just step aside, I wanna talk to them." The Devil ordered her.
Gwen and the cups look at each other and shrugged. The trio step aside for the Devil to speak to his imps.
"Evening everyone. I was just in the area, and I thought I'd come by to…" The Devil hesitantly tried to speak.
"Boss, keep going." Henchman said.
"I can't do it! I'm the Devil!" The Devil whined.
"Boss…" Henchman scolded.
"UGH! FINE!" The Devil groaned.
The Devil got down on his knees and grabbed his hands.
"I'm begging you all to come back to work! The organization is going down the toilet! Henchman and I can't run it by ourselves! Please, you gotta come back!" The Devil begged as he was crying.
The imps all look at the Devil unamused.
"Uh nope. We don't think so." Stickler said.
"Yeah! You just want us to come back to work so you can continue treating us like trash!" One imp protested.
Two imps grab Gwen's hands, and all led her and the cups away.
The Devil groaned until Henchman whispered,
"Boss, you gotta convince them that you'll give them what they want."
The Devil whined, knowing he had no other choice. He gets up, runs in front of Gwen and the imps.
"Gwen! Just fire them and give them back to me!" The Devil ordered her.
Henchman facepalmed.
"Hmm… I don't think so. They like me better because I listen to them, give them breaks, praise them for their hard work and reward them." Gwen said, folding her arms.
The Devil growled, but calmed down after remembering he needs to win them back.
"Fine! Come back and I'll give you… whatever those demands you want!" The Devil angrily says, clenching his teeth.
"Anything we want?" Stickler asked.
"Fine! Anything! I'll get rid of those changes! Everything will be the way it was before, but I'll try to be nicer and understanding!" The Devil begged.
The cups snickered at the Devil.
"This is too cute." Mugman whispered.
"Agreed." Cuphead agreed.
Gwen got out her sketchbook and drew another embarrassing sketch of the Devil begging his imps to come back.
Stickler and the imps all look at each other, then all of them nodded.
"Alright, then. But allow me to discuss our terms on the way back." Stickler said as he and the imps prepared to leave with their old boss.
The Devil whined in agony as Henchman led him to the elevator and squeezed everybody in. Henchman pushed the down button and the elevator disappeared back to Hell.
"Oh well. It was fun while it lasted. It was kinda nice having them work for me for once." Gwen said as she and the cups were walking home, holding hands.
"Hey, at least you got a little experience being in charge. Maybe you'd make a great boss someday with more practice and learning." Mugman complimented.
"Aw, thanks Mugsy." Gwen said.
"Alrighty then, let's get home. Elder Kettle's got hot dogs grillin'! I can smell them now!" Cuphead said excitedly.
"Yay! Hot dogs!" Mugman said excitedly.
Both cups grab Gwen's hands and ran up to the cottage. They are greeted by Elder Kettle with hot dogs ready for them. They eat together, listen to the radio and all head upstairs to bed.
Gwen opens her sketchbook to make the finishing touches on her embarrassing Devil sketch when her little butterfly fluttered in her face, making her giggle.
"Hey buddy. Things turned out to be great today. I kept the Devil away with my sweater, got to be his imp's boss for a while until the Devil begged them to come back to work, which was hilarious. You were right, things will be okay." Gwen admitted.
The butterfly smiled and fluttered in her face again, making her giggle.
"Okay, okay. I love you too buddy. Good night." Gwen said as the butterfly flew to sleep to the potted flower.
Gwen turns off her lamp and goes to sleep, feeling better about her struggles and is now sure she will overcome them.
