In the Inkwell Isles one morning, Agent Kai-Ming Cheng was out in Inkwell City exploring the city. Kai-Ming buys from a local newspaper stand a map of the Inkwell and a brochure of the sights. Kai-Ming heads back to the door portal back to her home in the human world.
Kai-Ming is greeted by her husband Haoyu and both kiss. He holds up a list of groceries he needs to make dinner. Kai-Ming drives off into Boston, heads to the grocery store, picks up all the items, pays for them and prepares to head back home.
Just as she was about to go to her car and go home, something catches her eye. She notices an odd-looking kid wearing a long sleave dress with blonde hair. Kai-Ming remembered seeing that kid in her photos during her investigation and realized it was Ms. Chalice in her human disguise.
Kai-Ming decided to follow Ms. Chalice and placed her groceries in the car, grabbed her FBI equipment and followed her into downtown Boston. She took pictures of Ms. Chalice tap dancing in front of some humans, charming them into giving her some coins in a paper cup. At the same time, she snatches their wallets.
Then Ms. Chalice goes up to a coke-cola machine, puts some coins in and gets a cold coke-cola drink in a bottle. After drinking the cola, she gives the machine a bump and some coke-colas fall out of the machine, drawing a group of kids grabbing them.
"Wow, Gwen was right. She's quite a con artist and thief." Kai-Ming quietly said to herself as she continued taking pictures.
Ms. Chalice tap dances towards a local hot dog stand and charms the hot dog stand attendee into giving her a free hot dog. Ms. Chalice eats the hot dog and goes up to a taxicab driver. She charms her way to letting her enter the taxi, only for her to take the wheel and drive off.
"Hey! Stop!" The driver called out, realizing he was scammed.
Kai-Ming quickly goes back to her car and drives off after Ms. Chalice.
"That kid is more trouble than I thought!" Kai-Ming said to herself.
She follows Ms. Chalice to another part of town. Ms. Chalice parks the car, gets out and tap dances on top of other cars. Kai-Ming parks her car and once again follows her. Ms. Chalice dances at a nearby jazz band playing music.
But Ms. Chalice is too distracted with her dancing and scatting she doesn't realize she was dancing in the street. Kai-Ming realizes a streetcar was coming and was about to hit Ms. Chalice. Kai-Ming remembered Gwen telling her about Ms. Chalice and her death and the deal with the Devil. With quick thinking, Kai-Ming runs into the street and catches Ms. Chalice just in time before the streetcar hit her.
"Gotcha kid!" Kai-Ming exclaimed as she rolled on the street, protecting Ms. Chalice.
"Hey! Watch it crazy lady!" The angry driver yelled and drove away.
Kai-Ming ignored the angry driver and looked at Ms. Chalice.
"It's okay kid. You're okay." Kai-Ming assured her.
"Who…who are you? And why did you save me?" Ms. Chalice weakly asked.
"I'm a friend of Gwen just like you are… Ms. Chalice. You're an orphan living on the streets in Inkwell City, were hit by a streetcar, you made a deal with the Devil and got your ghost powers. Then befriended two cups and Gwen. Later you were turned into dust, resurrected and challenged the Devil to a dance contest. Truth be told, I too made a deal and got turned to dust not too long ago." Kai-Ming answered.
Ms. Chalice's eyes popped.
"Wait, you know Gwen? And you know who I am and about me? The Devil turned you to dust too? How?" Ms. Chalice asked, now full of questions.
Just then, they hear police sirens in the distance coming their way.
"Not here. I'm taking you home with me. I'll explain everything then." Kai-Ming explained.
Kai-Ming gets up from the ground, carrying Ms. Chalice in her arms and runs off and hides in an alleyway to avoid being spotted. The cops check the stolen taxicab, but Kai-Ming manages to slip away without being detected back to her car.
While putting Ms. Chalice in her car, she notices Ms. Chalice was unconscious. Kai-Ming covers her in her coat to avoid being spotted. Kai-Ming takes the stolen wallets and turns them over to one of the cops, saying he found them on the streets. She goes back, starts her car, drives away from the crime scene and drives back to her home.
She drives up in the driveway, grabs the groceries in a hurry. Then, she runs back to the car, picks up Ms. Chalice in her coat and carries her inside the house.
"Honey, what's wrong? Why were you…?" Haoyu was about to ask as he pulled Kai-Ming's coat along Ms. Chalice's disguise, revealing herself.
Haoyu gasped at the sight of Ms. Chalice.
"Don't freak out! She's just a kid not from around here and I gotta help her!" Kai-Ming said sternly.
Kai-Ming goes upstairs in the master bedroom, lays Ms. Chalice on her bed and goes into her bathroom to get a cold towel. She wipes Ms. Chalice's head, making her feel better. Haoyu watches from the doorway as Kai-Ming gets up and lets Ms. Chalice rest on their bed.
She joins Haoyu and he finally asks,
"What is going on? Why does that kid look like a cartoon?"
"She's from my recent case that had to be buried to protect the cartoon world she is from. She must've found her way here through my informant's door portal." Kai-Ming explained, forcing her to come clean.
They both go downstairs to talk in the family room while their three young daughters Li-Mei, Caihong and Bai were playing in the nursery. 2-year-old Bai wanders off while Li-Mei and Caihong were playing dolls. Bai wanders off into her parents' bedroom. She catches sight of Ms. Chalice sleeping in their bed. Bai climbs up on the bed and looks at Ms. Chalice in wonder.
Just then, Li-Mei and Caihong enter the room.
"Bai! What have I told you about…" The eldest 6-year-old Li-Mei said until she gasped at the sight of Ms. Chalice.
"Woah. What is that?" The middle child 4-year-old Caihong asked.
Both girls approached the bed, join Bai and look at Ms. Chalice with curiosity.
"She looks like a cartoon from the picture show." Caihong said as she touched Ms. Chalice's straw.
"Is this what mama was hiding from us?" Li-Mei asked.
As the two sisters were talking, Ms. Chalice slowly started to wake up, making Bai excited. Ms. Chalice wakes up and saw the three sisters above her. She looked at Bai smiling at her. Ms. Chalice gasped as Bai gives her a hug. Ms. Chalice gets up, holds Bai and looked at Li-Mei and Caihong talking to each other.
"Uh, excuse me?" Ms. Chalice asked.
Both girls stopped talking, turned at looked at Ms. Chalice holding Bai.
"Uh, where am I? And do me a favor and don't scream. I know this is a shock to you humans." Ms. Chalice asked.
Both girls try not to freak out.
"Anyway, I'll ask again. Where am I and why am I in someone's bed?" Ms. Chalice asked.
"Uh, I think mama brought you here to our home." Li-Mei nervously answered.
"She went out to get the groceries." Caihong added.
"I remember dancing in the streets and some woman who knows who I am saved me and I guess I passed out and was brought here?" Ms. Chalice guessed.
"I guess so. What's your name?" Li-Mei asked.
"The name's Chalice. Ms. Chalice. What are your names girls?" Ms. Chalice asked.
"I'm Li-Mei. This is Caihong. And the one hugging you is Bai." Li-Mei introduced herself and her little sisters.
"Hmm, looks like you girls were poking your noses where you shouldn't." Kai-Ming said, getting the girl's attention.
"Mommy!" Bai said happily.
Kai-Ming giggled, approached her bed and lifted Bai up in her arms.
"I see you girls met our new little friend." Kai-Ming said.
"Bai wandered off and saw Ms. Chalice and we followed her, and she woke up." Li-Mei explained.
"Ah, I see you all introduced yourselves." Kai-Ming said, figuring it out.
"Is she a cartoon mommy?" Caihong asked.
"Darlings, why don't you go back in the nursery. We'll be with you in a minute, okay?" Kai-Ming asked her daughters.
"Okay mommy!" Li-Mei said.
"And make sure Bai doesn't wander off this time." Kai-Ming reminded them as she handed Bai to Li-Mei.
"Yes mommy." Li-Mei said.
All three girls go back into the nursery while Kai-Ming sits down on the bed next to Ms. Chalice.
"Hey, you're that strange lady who saved me." Ms. Chalice said.
"That's right Ms. Chalice. You were lucky I was in the neighborhood when I saw you." Kai-Ming said.
"But how do you know who I am? And how do you know Gwen?" Ms. Chalice asked.
"Agent Kai-Ming Cheng. FBI. Federal Bureau Investigation. Gwen and I are friends and I'm studying the cartoon world with Gwen's help." Kai-Ming introduced herself as she held up her ID badge.
"What? And Gwen didn't tell me?" Ms. Chalice asked.
"Don't be mad at her. I made her keep this all a secret from everyone. It's a long story of how we discovered this world and now the existence of the Inkwell Isles is now covered up." Kai-Ming said.
"How so?" Ms. Chalice asked.
"You see…"
Kai-Ming explained the story of meeting Gwen and was on a case of cartoon sightings, thus making Gwen bring Kai-Ming to the cartoon world. After a run-in with the Devil, the two teamed up so Gwen could help her study the Inkwell Isles. However, the case took a turn for the worst when her former FBI supervisor tricked them into stealing the Devil's pitchfork so he and a terrorist organization could use it to destroy the world. After being rescued, she made a deal with the Devil to team up to take down the Fallen Angels and getting his pitchfork back in exchange for their souls. Gwen and Kai-Ming got a light punishment but later, the Devil brought Kai-Ming to her boss, killed Kai-Ming by turning her into dust and threatened J. Edgar Hoover into handing over all the evidence to be burned and covered up or else he will kill more innocent humans and all the FBI agents including the director himself. So, it was done, and Kai-Ming was resurrected back to life after the Devil made good on his threat and disappeared.
"Woah. That's some story. Even the ding-dongs were involved huh?" Ms. Chalice asked.
"Yes, they were. Thank goodness they made an uneasy yet temporary alliance with the Devil to rescue us." Kai-Ming said.
"Oh, yeah." Ms. Chalice agreed.
"I'm sorry you had it tough your whole life. It must be hard being an orphan and a street urchin. You were lucky those cups and Gwen met you." Kai-Ming said.
"Oh, yeah. I never had real friends before. But my girlfriend introduced me to the human world. I wanted to learn more ever since." Ms. Chalice confessed.
"I can see that. You've been using her door portal to sneak your way in, haven't you?" Kai-Ming guessed.
"Pretty much. Oh, wait. Those wallets are gone." Ms. Chalice answered as she discovered she doesn't have the wallets she stole earlier.
"Don't worry. No one's gonna hurt you. No one's gonna arrest you. I saved you, brought you here so I can help get you home back to your world. And don't worry, I returned those wallets to keep you from getting caught. And your secret is safe with us." Kai-Ming said as she showed Ms. Chalice her door portal to the Inkwell Isles.
"Wow. You have a door portal too?" Ms. Chalice asked.
"Yeah, I still held on to this to continue my studies of the cartoon world. So, if you're ready to go home, you can go ahead. No one's gonna stop you." Kai-Ming answered, letting Ms. Chalice go home.
"Well, I'll go home. Just not quite yet." Ms. Chalice said.
"Why not?" Kai-Ming asked.
"I wanna check this place out first. It's really nice. And I think your daughters have taken a shine to me." Ms. Chalice said as she tap-danced to the nursery.
"Ms. Chalice wait!" Kai-Ming said.
But Ms. Chalice dances her way into the nursery, to the girl's excitement. Ms. Chalice started to sing her Rainbow song and dances with the girls.
The girls applaud her as Bai grabs Ms. Chalice's hand and pulls her to her toys.
"Mommy, can she play with us?" Caihong asked.
Kai-Ming thought for a moment, then she said,
"Alright, but just for a while girls. Stay in the nursery. And Ms. Chalice, do not leave this house, okay?" Kai-Ming stated her conditions.
"You got it… mommy." Ms. Chalice called her and winked.
Kai-Ming shook her head and closed the door.
The girls and Ms. Chalice played with each other with their toys. Ms. Chalice shows off her dancing skills to them.
After a while of playing, Kai-Ming enters their room.
"Oh, girls? Daddy says it's time for dinner." Kai-Ming announced.
"Yay!" All three girls said.
They take Ms. Chalice's hands, head downstairs and sit at the dinner table. Haoyu comes in with fresh cooked dumplings, lo mien noodles and stir-fry vegetables. Haoyu serves his daughters, Ms. Chalice, Kai-Ming and himself. Ms. Chalice tries the dumplings and realizes how delicious they are. Ms. Chalice digs in eating the dumplings, lo mien noodles and the stir-fry vegetables.
"Wow, Ms. Chalice, I've never seen a kid eat so much." Haoyu said.
"I don't get to eat real food much. This is awesome!" Ms. Chalice said as she was eating.
"Slow down Chalice. Enjoy the food." Kai-Ming corrected her.
"What do you mean? I am enjoying the food." Ms. Chalice asked with her mouth stuffed.
"Don't talk with your mouth full. And wipe your face." Kai-Ming added.
Ms. Chalice swallowed her food, wiped her face and stopped eating so fast.
"We'll work on your manners Chalice." Kai-Ming said as she took a bite of food and fed Bai in her highchair.
"Really?" Ms. Chalice asked.
"Sure. I'll tell you what, I could teach you the ways of the human world and help keep you out of trouble. And in exchange, I don't want you scamming or stealing from anyone else. What do you say?" Kai-Ming offered.
Ms. Chalice thought for a moment.
"You have a deal Kai-Ming! Same time tomorrow?" Ms. Chalice asked.
"Hmm, how about tomorrow afternoon?" Kai-Ming asked.
"You got it!" Ms. Chalice agreed.
"Mommy, can she play with us again tomorrow?" Li-Mei asked.
"Please mommy?" Caihong also asked.
"Alright girls. As long as you keep an eye on Bai, okay?" Kai-Ming reminded her daughters.
"Yes mommy!" Both girls agreed.
"Chalie!" Bai said.
"Aw, she's trying to say my name." Ms. Chalice said.
After having mooncakes for dessert, Ms. Chalice says goodbye to Kai-Ming and her family and heads back to Clarence's apartment in the cartoon world.
Ms. Chalice heads to her room and gets ready to go to bed. She hears a knock at the door.
"Come in." Ms. Chalice called.
Clarence comes in.
"There you are Chalice. Where have you been today?" Clarence asked.
"Oh, I was out and about. You know me handsome." Ms. Chalice answered.
"Well, just stay out of trouble. You know Gwen and I care about you." Clarence reminded her.
"I know. And I appreciate all you both done for me." Ms. Chalice said with a smile.
Clarence smiled and gave Ms. Chalice a hug.
"Well, goodnight roomie." Clarence said.
"Good night, handsome." Ms. Chalice said.
Clarence leaves her room and Ms. Chalice goes to bed.
The next day, Ms. Chalice goes through the door portal to Kai-Ming's house. Kai-Ming teaches Ms. Chalice both the beauty and dangers of the human world including fun things like shopping, dancing, playing, eating out and seeing new places and other cultures in the world. The dangers involve bad humans, natural disasters, accidents and other things to be cautious about.
Overtime, Ms. Chalice enjoys learning from Kai-Ming she started to look up to her as a mother-figure. And she forms a bond with her three daughters, playing with them when they were out of preschool and kindergarten.
After having another delicious dinner with the Cheng family, Ms. Chalice and Kai-Ming sit together on the couch.
"Wow Kai-Ming, that was another fun day!" Ms. Chalice said after laughing.
"It sure was Chalice. My little girls have a lot of fun with you." Kai-Ming complimented.
"Yeah, I love them." Ms. Chalice said.
"They love you too. So do the cups, Gwen, her family and Clarence." Kai-Ming pointed out.
"Yeah, I love them. I owe everything to Cuphead, Mugman and Gwen. They're the reason I've been happier. My girlfriend even invites me and the cups to some family activities. They've been the closest thing to a family I've ever had." Ms. Chalice confessed.
"That's wonderful. You know, Gwen's sister is right to caution you about sneaking into the human world. That's how much she cares about you." Kai-Ming pointed out.
"I know. But it was still worth it seeing the Children's Museum in Boston." Ms. Chalice said.
"Hmm. You really are curious about our world. Why are you so fascinated with Earth?" Kai-Ming asked.
"Well, ever since Gwen came to the Inkwell Isles, I've been really curious about her world. I remember the first time I snuck into the human world through her door portal. It is so different than our world and bigger. But it has a lot of similarities like cities, good food, but they have much bigger land. One big difference is the inhabitants are all humans." Ms. Chalice explained her story.
"Yes. In your world, people are either human, objects, plants, food or animals. We don't in this world. The animals here are either wild or domesticated. Objects aren't alive, plants are alive in a way but not like people. Humans are the dominant species here." Kai-Ming said.
"It's really amazing here. And I wanna thank you for showing me." Ms. Chalice said.
"You're welcome, Chalice." Kai-Ming said as she wrapped her arm around her.
Ms. Chalice sunk her head into her chest.
Unknown to Kai-Ming and Ms. Chalice, the Devil was spying on them through his magic mirror in Inkwell Hell.
"Ugh! That chalice was supposed to be dead, then my revenge on her would've been awesome! But that nosy agent interfered! I thought she learned something!" The Devil ranted.
The Devil thought for a moment, gets an idea and grins evilly.
"Hmm. Maybe it's time I taught that nosy agent a lesson. By taking something precious to her!" The Devil declared.
"But boss! Don't you remember what happened the last three times you kidnapped Gwen's loved ones? Gwen gave it to you pretty bad; she'll do it again!" Henchman warned his boss.
"But this time, it won't be one of Gwen's loved ones. It'll be one of Kai-Ming's loved ones. But who shall it be?" The Devil pondered.
He observes in the magic mirror Ms. Chalice saying goodbye to Kai-Ming and Haoyu and goes through the door portal home. The Devil looked at Haoyu but shook his head.
"Nah, he's not good enough." The Devil said.
He observes Li-Mei, Caihong and Bai brushing their teeth and getting ready for bed.
"Aw, that little one is so cute!" Henchman said in a cute-like voice.
The Devil looks closely at Li-Mei helping brush Bai's baby teeth.
"Yes! The youngest one! She'll be perfect!" The Devil said evilly.
"But boss! Agent Kai-Ming will recruit Gwen and come and beat you up once again!" Henchman protested.
The Devil bonked Henchman on the head with his pitchfork.
"Shut up! Now then, when those humans go to bed, I'll sneak into their little girl's room and snatch that little baby!" The Devil explained his evil scheme.
"Toddler." Henchman corrected him.
The Devil gave an unamused stare.
"Thank you, Henchman." The Devil said impatiently.
That night, the Cheng family were all asleep and the Devil seizes the moment to break into their house. The Devil tapped his pitchfork and appeared in their house. The Devil quietly floated upstairs to the nursery. He quietly opens the door, enters and looks around. He sees Li-Mei and Caihong asleep in their own beds. Then, he notices Bai asleep in her crib, sucking her thumb. The Devil sneaked up to the crib and looked down at Bai sleeping. He smiled evilly, placed his pitchfork next to the crib and reached into the crib.
"You're coming with me little one." The Devil quietly said.
He scoops Bai in his arm, grabs his pitchfork and disappeared back to Hell.
He appears in the throne room with Bai sleeping in his arm.
"Aw jeez." Henchman said worryingly.
The Devil placed his pitchfork next to his throne and sits on his throne with Bai sleeping in his lap and sucking her thumb.
"Look at this little mortal brat sleeping with her thumb in her mouth. Humans are so disgusting." The Devil said, looking disgusted at Bai.
"No boss. She's not a brat. She sucks her thumb because it makes her feel calm and comfortable. Lots of toddlers do that." Henchman explained.
Just then, Bai started to wake up. She opened her eyes and realized she was no longer in her crib. Bai looks around her, curious about her new surroundings.
"Well, look who decided to wake up." The Devil said.
Bai looked at the Devil giving her an unamused look. Bai is curious about the Devil and reaches her hands at his face.
"Ew! No! Don't touch me!" The Devil protested.
"Boss, let her check you out. She's curious, she's never seen you before." Henchman said.
"Ugh! Fine!" The Devil said frustratingly.
Bai feels his face, roughly pets his fur as the Devil looked at her impatiently. Bai squealed in delight.
"Big kitty!" Bai said excitedly.
"The little one thinks I'm a big cat. She's not the first one who thought I was a cat." The Devil said confused.
"Aw, I think she likes you boss." Henchman said with a smile.
Bai gives the Devil a hug and snuggled in his fur.
"Yeesh, I think she likes me too much." The Devil said in disgust.
"D'aaww…" Henchman said, admiring Bai's cuteness.
The Devil gets up and carries Bai down the stairs and approached Henchman.
"Here Henchman. You take care of this clingy little toddler. I'm going to bed." The Devil said as he handed Bai over.
Henchman takes Bai from his boss and soothes her.
"D'aaw… wook at you wittle won. You are so cute!" Henchman said in a baby-like tone as he tickled under Bai's chin.
Bai giggles at being tickled until she started yawning again.
"Oh, someone's weady for beddie bye!" Henchman said.
The Devil yawns and says,
"I couldn't agree more."
The Devil and Henchman head to his bedroom carrying Bai. The Devil crawls into bed as Bai reaches out to the Devil, wanting to join him in bed.
"D'aaw, I think someone wants to join you." Henchman said in a sing-song way.
"Ew! No! Take her and put her in the crib I had the twins sleep in!" The Devil ordered.
"Duh, okay boss." Henchman said.
Henchman takes Bai outside his boss's bedroom and takes her to the baby crib. Henchman places Bai in the crib, wraps her in a blanket.
"Want me to wead you a bedtime story?" Henchman asked.
Bai looked at Henchman with a smile.
"I'll take that as a yes." Henchman said.
Henchman goes off and grabs a picture book titled "The Little Engine that Could."
Henchman opens the book and reads the story about the little engine was brave enough to pull up the steepest mountain. But the little train miraculously makes it after repeating his motto: "I think I can."
Henchman finishes the story and notices Bai is sound asleep. Henchman smiled, closes the book and leans over the crib and gives Bai a goodnight kiss.
Henchman leaves with the book to get some sleep before he'll come back to check on Bai.
A couple of hours later, Henchman arrives back to check on Bai. But to his surprise, Bai is gone.
"Uh oh! She's gone!" Henchman exclaimed.
He looks all around but can't find her anywhere. He tries his boss's bedroom without waking him up, but he doesn't find her there. But before Henchman leaves, he hears his boss wake up.
"HENCHMAN!" The Devil yelled.
"Duh, yes boss?" Henchman nervously answered.
"What are you doing? It's the middle of the night!" The Devil scolded.
"Duh, I had to get a little shut eye. Then I got up and uh… I looked into the crib to check on little Bai but uh…" Henchman nervously explained.
"What Henchman? Where's the girl?" The Devil asked suspiciously.
"She's gone!" Henchman exclaimed.
"What?! What do you mean she's gone?!" The Devil yelled.
"She must've escaped from the crib while we were asleep!" Henchman explained.
"Henchman! I gave you one job to do, and this happened! Come on! Let's go find her!" The Devil scolded as he gets up and out of bed.
Both demons leave the bedroom and start their search in the throne room. But she was not there.
Meanwhile, Bai was happily exploring down a tunnel until she reached the dungeon. She wandered near the mines, past the slaves working and other prisoners. Bai even wanders past a prisoner hanging from the wall.
A guard notices Bai and tails after her. But before he could reach for Bai, she pulls a lever, triggering a trap door causing the guard to fall to his death. Bai leaves the dungeon and wanders off once again to another location.
Bai wanders to an area where the Devil's finest demons report. King Dice happened to be in the area, working on stuff for the casino. King Dice suddenly noticed Bai wandering around.
"What the? A human tot?" King Dice asked in confusion.
"Well, I guess I better bring you to the boss and see what he has to say you little pipsqueak." King Dice said as he goes after Bai.
Bai notices a lever and happily approaches it.
"Alright pipsqueak, let's go." King Dice said as he was about to pick her up.
But before he could, Bai pulls the lever, opening a gate.
King Dice gasped in horror, realizing what lever she pulled.
"No, no, no, no! That lever opens the gate to the boss's…!" King Dice exclaimed but is too late to finish when a group of giant demons escape from the gate and beat up King Dice mercilessly.
"…Newest finest demons." King Dice weakly said as pain stars circled his head until he passed out.
Bai continues wandering off until she reaches the conference room where Stickler is going over the numbers for the soul collection. He looks at Bai looking around until she looks at Stickler.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Another failure waiting to happen." Stickler said, knowing where this was going.
Bai looked confused and turned around and left the conference room. She reaches the Devil's theater room and makes it up the stage and towards the back and finds the stage props and the Devil's costumes. Bai squeals excitedly, assuming they were dress up clothes and toys and runs towards the costumes and props and starts playing with them.
Meanwhile, the Devil and Henchman struggle to find Bai until they reach the conference room.
"You! You see a human toddler around here?!" The Devil asked Stickler angrily.
"Why yes. There was a small human wandering around unsupervised. I believe she's gone to the theater room." Stickler answered.
The Devil's eyes popped.
"WHAT?!" The Devil yelled.
The Devil and Henchman run to the theater as quick as they could. They arrive backstage and are horrified to see Bai throwing his costumes all over the floor and playing with his stage props.
"No, you little brat! I just had those dry cleaned!" The Devil angrily said and prepares to go after her.
Bai suddenly noticed rope tied up and pulls it, releasing a sandbag hanging above. Bai releases the rope and wanders off again.
But before the Devil could reach her… CRASH!
The sandbag crushed the Devil from above.
"Aw jeez." Henchman said worryingly.
The Devil's rage builds up and roared loudly. He shapeshifted into his giant panther form and chases after Bai.
Bai wandered off into the soul tubes area. She excitedly makes her way to the soul vault; unaware the Devil was chasing her. The Devil runs at high speed after Bai.
"Enough! You are coming with me!" The Devil yelled furiously.
But he didn't realize he was too fast and accidently sped past her, causing him to crash into his soul vault, once again breaking it open.
All the captured souls escape and fly away to the surface.
"NO!" The Devil screamed in horror.
The Devil tries to recapture all the souls but was too late. He whined in agony until he turned to Bai, now furious than ever and charges at her. But before he could snatch her, he stopped quickly realizing she was fast asleep on the floor sucking her thumb having passed out from wearing herself out. The Devil groaned and shapeshifted back to his normal self.
Henchman comes running in and approaches Bai. He lifts her up in his arms and cuddles her.
"D'aaaw. Someone wore herself out from all that exploring." Henchman said in a quiet voice.
"Ugh! How does Kai-Ming deal with this wandering little brat?!" The Devil asked frustratingly.
"Boss, she's a toddler. And all toddlers love exploring. It's part of them growing up." Henchman explained as he rocks her gently.
"Ehm! Excuse me!" Stickler called as the Devil cringed.
"What?!" The Devil angrily asked.
"I thought we discussed the matter of kidnapping human children. Your recent actions have led to the soul number decrease all because of your petty attempt to get back at that human government agent." Stickler explained.
The Devil growled furiously.
"Then, what do you propose I do?!" The Devil angrily asked.
"May I suggest taking the human toddler back to her mother and father in the human world? Then, focus on rebuilding your soul collection or the bubbles of failure will happen again." Stickler advised.
The Devil groaned and said,
"Fine! I'll find another way to get back at Kai-Ming without kidnapping any of her daughters."
"Goodbye wittle won." Henchman whispered to Bai and gives her one more kiss.
The Devil takes Bai from Henchman, grabs his pitchfork and disappears back to Kai-Ming's house in the human world. He sneaks back into the nursery and noticed Li-Mei and Caihong were still asleep. He quietly places Bai back into her crib and whispered,
"Good riddance!"
Just then, the door was about to open, making the Devil gasp inaudibly. He quickly teleports out of the nursery back to Hell before Kai-Ming entered to wake up her daughters.
"Girls! Time to get up!" Kai-Ming greeted.
Li-Mei and Caihong wake up and get out of bed.
"Morning mommy!" Li-Mei and Caihong both greeted.
They look at Bai still asleep and sucking her thumb.
Kai-Ming walks to her crib, lifts her up in her arms, wondering why Bai was still sound asleep.
"Huh, looks like someone was up all night and wore herself out." Kai-Ming guessed.
Kai-Ming carries Bai outside the nursery as Li-Mei and Caihong follow her from behind.
Back in Hell, the Devil was happy to be rid of Bai as he fixes the damage she had caused around Hell. But before the Devil could go back to bed…
"Ehm! Excuse me!"
"WHAT?! I'm going back to bed!" The Devil yelled.
"It is morning now; therefore, we need to discuss your recent actions with the human toddler and how to bring the numbers back up." Stickler answered.
The Devil whined in agony, now having to face the consequences of his actions.
Back in the human world, the Cheng family eat breakfast together until they noticed Ms. Chalice arriving once again to learn from Kai-Ming.
Ms. Chalice continued to learn about the human world from Kai-Ming as she balanced her time with the cups, Gwen and Clarence.
