One evening in Inkwell City, Clarence and Ms. Chalice were finishing up their latest episode of their show together. After saying 'Good night' to the audience, Clarence and Ms. Chalice go backstage and Gwen and Clarence both hug and kiss each other.

"Nice job love. You and Chalice make an awesome team together." Gwen complimented.

"Thanks honey. This all wouldn't have happened if it weren't for you." Clarence said.

Ms. Chalice jumps on Gwen's shoulders.

"Yeah girlfriend! I never dreamed I could be this happy! I even have a fellow orphan I call 'brother'! I never had parents." Ms. Chalice said, hugging Gwen's head.

"Aw thanks Chalice. It's strange though. All I know is my mother, her name was Mary Brown and she died after giving birth to me. But I never knew what happened to my father though. That's it. Nothing else." Clarence sadly admitted.

Gwen felt sympathetic about what Clarence only knew about his past.

"Well, don't worry about it handsome. You got Gwen and me now! Let's hit the sack." Ms. Chalice said.

Ms. Chalice hopped off Gwen's shoulders, took Clarence's hand and led him to his apartment. But not before Clarence and Gwen share one more kiss.

"Night girlfriend!" Ms. Chalice called.

"Night Chalice!" Gwen called back.

Gwen teleports back to the cottage and heads off to her bedroom after saying goodnight to Elder Kettle and her cup brothers. Gwen still thought about what Clarence said about only knowing his mother is gone and he doesn't know if his father's alive or not. Gwen decided to find out for herself, only to be reminded of her Grandfather Earnest's advice on being careful how she uses the magic inkwell.

After thinking it over, Gwen magically creates another eyeball and caught it in her hand.

"Show me Clarence's past and who and what happened to his parents." Gwen said.

The eyeball glowed and floated up. Gwen is once again beamed into her subconsciousness into the visions of the past.

Gwen finds herself in the 1910s New York City and watches a man named Harry Hopewell, who she was familiar with in the human world as a world-famous singer and well admired. She watches him perform for a large audience, making the ladies cheer for him. After the show, Harry goes backstage to rest as Gwen watches the way Harry treats his staff poorly. Then, Gwen notices a maid named Mary Brown doing her job cleaning up until Harry goes up to her and kisses her and takes her away. Gwen skips over the memory having a good idea what was going on.

Gwen skips ahead to the moment Mary gives birth to a baby boy in a hospital but she in critical condition. She names her son 'Clarence James Hopewell', gives her baby a loving kiss with tears in her eyes as she unfortunately passes away. The baby was taken to Harry to his home with his equally selfish wife Joan Hopewell in New York City with a posthumous note from Mary saying that the baby is her son and that he is the father.

But Harry wanted nothing to do with Clarence and rejects his newborn son and has his assistant 'take care of him' and keeping this from Joan to Gwen's horror. The assistant takes the baby away, but he does not kill him, feeling empathy he instead drives away to Boston, Massachusetts and dropped off at the orphanage where Clarence grew up to become the man he is now.

Gwen feels like she's seen enough and yells,

"Wake up! Wake up!"

Gwen disappears from her subconscious and regains control of her body, breathing heavily.

"Oh, my goodness! His father's still alive and he is a horrible man!" Gwen exclaimed.

Gwen calms herself down and goes to sleep and wait till morning to decide what to do.

The next morning came, Gwen gets up, gets ready for the day and has breakfast with Elder Kettle and the cups. After breakfast, the cups run off to go play in the front yard.

Meanwhile, after putting on her coat and straw hat, Gwen goes through the door portal and decided to travel to New York City. She knew it was a far drive from Boston to New York City. So, she decided to take the train to New York City.

After several hours of traveling, Gwen finally reaches New York City, and she is awe of the buildings taller than the ones in Boston or Inkwell City. Gwen heads to a building called Rockefeller Center where Harry Hopewell was performing his latest show. Gwen notices security guards at the back entrance. So, she goes to a corner and uses her invisibility ability. She manages to sneak into the building and finds the backstage area and watches Harry Hopewell himself performing for a full-house audience.

"There he is!" Gwen quietly said to herself.

After the show, Gwen follows Harry to his dressing room and watches how he mistreats his staff as he was getting ready to leave. He joins his fancy-dressed wife Joan and head into a limousine. Gwen shapeshifts into a ghost and stows away into their limo. They arrive in a big mansion and Gwen is awestruck of their house. The couple enter their home with Gwen secretly following them inside and to Gwen's shock, she finds a young blonde teenage girl run up to her room.

"Cordelia! Get down here!" Harry yelled.

Gwen learns the girl's name is Cordelia. She nervously comes downstairs up to her parents.

"Make us drinks now!" Harry ordered her.

Cordelia rushes to the kitchen to a bar and grabs various bottles of liquor and makes two drinks. Gwen watches in shock at the couple treating their own daughter like she was their own servant. Cordelia gives her parents their drinks and both sipped. Joan spits out her drink and yelled,

"It's too bland!"

Cordelia was scared and said,

"I'm sorry mother I guess I accidently…"

But Joan interrupted and roughly handed back her glass to Cordelia.

"You clumsy idiot! You live in this house; you obey our rules!"

"But I didn't mean to…" Cordelia tried to explain until Harry stood up.

"Silence! I don't wanna hear it!" Harry yelled.

"But father…" Cordelia tried to speak until suddenly, he slapped her across the face.

Gwen stood watching in horror at Cordelia's abusive parents as she runs up crying to her room. Gwen felt like she needed to do something to help Cordelia and flies upstairs to her room. She witnesses Cordelia packing all her belongings, like how Gwen was packing to runaway to California.

Cordelia opens her bedroom window, climbs down a tree and makes it safely to the ground. Gwen thinks for a moment and gets an idea. She flies out of the house and lands outside the fence barrier of the mansion. Gwen shapeshifted back into her human form and notices Cordelia run off to a nearby bus stop. But she is too late to catch the bus and started to cry. Gwen takes a deep breath and approaches Cordelia.

"Uh, hello there." Gwen greeted politely.

Cordelia gasped, turned around and saw Gwen.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you." Gwen apologized.

"It's okay. I thought you were someone else." Cordelia said while wiping tears.

"Are you okay? Did someone hurt you?" Gwen asked, noticing the slap on her face.

"Well… um."

Cordelia hesitated to speak as Gwen reached into her satchel and magically created an ice pack.

"Here, put this on your face. It'll reduce the swelling." Gwen said, giving the ice pack to Cordelia.

"Oh, thank you Miss…?" Cordelia asked as she put the ice pack on her face.

"Emmons. Gwendolyn Mae Emmons. Call me Gwen." Gwen introduced herself.

"Cordelia Ann Hopewell. And yes, Harry Hopewell is my father. I know, I get that a lot." Cordelia introduced herself.

"Hopewell? Huh, that's my boyfriend's last name too." Gwen said.

Cordelia's eyes popped.

"Your boyfriend's last name is Hopewell? Who?" Cordelia asked.

"His name is Clarence. You have a relative named Clarence?" Gwen asked, seeing if Cordelia knew anything about Clarence.

"No. Not that I know of. What's his parent's names?" Cordelia asked.

"Well, his mother was a woman named Mary Brown who worked as a maid for a celebrity. But his father, he doesn't know who it is. He doesn't know who his father is." Gwen explained.

Cordelia's eyes widened.

"Who did you say? Mary Brown?" Cordelia asked.

"Yes, why? Did you know her?" Gwen asked.

"No, but I heard of her. I overheard my father's workers saying she was his favorite maid. The next they heard, she died giving birth to a baby and was never seen again." Cordelia explained.

Cordelia gasped and realized something.

"Wait, are you saying that Mary's baby is my… half-brother?" Cordelia asked.

Gwen's eyes widened, now knowing that Cordelia is Clarence's half-sister.

"I uh, I guess?" Gwen nervously answered.

"Hey, Gwen? Could you take me to your boyfriend Clarence? I wanna meet him and see if we're related." Cordelia asked.

"I don't know Cordelia. We're not exactly from around here." Gwen hesitantly answered, fearing she will have to reveal the magic inkwell and the Inkwell Isles to someone else since Akilah.

"It doesn't matter how far it is. I wanna go with you Gwen. Please? I can't live with my toxic parents anymore. Especially my father." Cordelia pleaded.

"Wait, your father was the one who slapped you?" Gwen asked, pretending to realize it was her own father who slapped her.

Just then they hear Harry yell out,

"Cordelia!"

Both girls gasped, turned around and saw Harry looking for Cordelia in the distance.

"Please Gwen! I know we just met, but you're a really nice girl. Please take me away from all this! I'll do anything!" Cordelia begged.

Gwen sighed, got out her ink pen and said,

"Do me a favor and don't freak out." Gwen instructed.

"Why?" Cordelia asked.

"You'll see." Gwen answered.

Gwen wraps her arm around Cordelia, tapped her ink pen and both disappeared before Harry could find her.

Both girls appeared at the radio show studio in Inkwell City. Gwen noticed Cordelia in her new cartoon appearance still hugging her with her eyes closed, feeling scared.

"Cordelia? You can open your eyes now. We're here." Gwen said.

Cordelia slowly opened her eyes and looked around in shock.

"What the? What's going on? Why is everything… cartoony?" Cordelia asked.

"About that, you're in a cartoon world called the Inkwell Isles. I brought you here with the magic inkwell." Gwen answered.

"Inkwell Isles? Magic Inkwell?" Cordelia asked, now confused.

Gwen shows the magic inkwell on her belt by removing her coat along with her ink pen.

"Yeah, magic inkwell. I have powers and magic." Gwen hesitantly answered.

"So, what exactly is this cartoon world? And that magic inkwell you speak of?" Cordelia asked.

"If I tell you, you must promise me you will not speak a word of this to anyone. And I mean anyone at all. Do you understand Cordelia?" Gwen asked, giving her a serious look.

"Okay, I promise." Cordelia promised.

"Okay then…" Gwen said as she led Cordelia out of the studio.

Gwen takes Cordelia on a tour of Inkwell City. She shows her the citizens are all either anthropomorphic food, animal, object, human-like or plant and live similar lives like humans. Cordelia is wonderstruck by all the sights of Inkwell City.

"Wow, Gwen. This is all being like in the…" Cordelia was about to say until Gwen interrupted.

"…Picture shows? Yes. I've heard that a lot."

"Oh. Anyway, could you take me to see Clarence? I need to see if he's, my brother." Cordelia asked.

"Well, you should know, he doesn't know who his father is. He may be in for a shock." Gwen warned Cordelia.

"I know, but I need to try." Cordelia insisted.

"Okay, then." Gwen said.

Gwen tapped her ink pen again and both disappeared. They reappear outside Clarence's apartment door. Gwen knocks the door, and both girls waited a while. Clarence opens the door and is happy to see Gwen.

"Hey love." Gwen said.

"Hey Gwen." Clarence said as he hugged her.

Cordelia is in shock that Clarence resembles a lot like her father. Clarence suddenly discovered Cordelia's presence and stared at her.

"Uh, Gwen? Who's this?" Clarence asked.

"Clarence, this is Cordelia Hopewell. She has the same last name as you do. She has questions for you because she thinks she's related to you." Gwen hesitantly answered.

Clarence stood in shock that Cordelia has the same last name she does.

"Can we discuss this inside?" Clarence asked.

"Of course." Gwen answered.

The three humans head inside the apartment and all sit down at the table.

"Clarence? I need to ask you. Do you know who your parents are?" Cordelia bravely asked.

Clarence sighed and answered,

"The only clue I have been my mother's name was Mary Brown and that she died after giving birth to me. And I don't know who my father is."

"Wait, I know of the name Mary Brown." Cordelia said.

"What? You do?" Clarence asked, now full of questions.

"She was a maid for my world-famous singer father Harry Hopewell." Cordelia answered.

"What? The Harry Hopewell? I've heard of him, but I thought it was a coincidence we had the same last name." Clarence admitted.

"Look, if your mother worked for my father, I think it's possible that maybe he could be your father too?" Cordelia asked.

Clarence's eyes widened.

"Are you saying that… Harry Hopewell could be my… father?" Clarence asked.

"I know a way to find out." Gwen answered.

Clarence and Cordelia looked at Gwen.

"You mean with the magic inkwell?" Clarence asked.

"Yes, I also have the power to look into the past. We can see Clarence's past and then yours Cordelia and see if that answers that question." Gwen hesitantly explained.

"Really? You can?" Clarence asked.

"Yes. Come on, let's go into his bedroom and I'll show you." Gwen said.

All three humans go upstairs into his bedroom, close the door and Gwen has them sit in a circle on the floor. She gets out her ink pen and creates another eyeball, to Clarence and Cordelia's shock. She holds it and says,

"Show me Clarence and Cordelia's past and who their parents are."

The eyeball glowed and floated as Gwen reached her hands to Clarence and Cordelia.

"You guys might wanna hold on." Gwen warned them.

Clarence and Cordelia all hold hands as the eyeball beamed into the three human's eyes into their subconsciousness.

Gwen, Clarence and Cordelia find themselves in the 1910s New York City and watched Harry Hopewell perform for a large audience, making the ladies cheer for him. After the show, Harry goes backstage to rest and the three humans watches the way Harry treats his staff poorly.

"That's Harry Hopewell?" Clarence asked.

"Yes, that's father." Cordelia sadly answered.

"Why is he treating his workers like trash?" Clarence asked.

"Because he thinks he's superior compared to him. He thinks of himself as a god with his golden voice, money and influence." Cordelia answered.

"Guys, look!" Gwen pointed out.

They all look and notice the maid doing her job cleaning up until Harry goes up to her and kisses her and takes her away.

"Oh! That's her! Mary Brown! I recognize her from the staff pictures! I overheard the staff saying that she was my father's 'favorite.'" Cordelia exclaimed.

"What? My mother?!" Clarence asked in shock.

"Okay, okay. Let's move on, shall we?"

Gwen asked, leading the two away from the memory.

They skip over to the next memory of Mary giving birth to a baby boy in a hospital but she in critical condition.

"Wait, is that… me?" Clarence asked, looking at the baby in Mary's arms.

It is confirmed true when they watch her name her son 'Clarence James Hopewell', gives her baby a loving kiss with tears in her eyes as she unfortunately passes away.

"Oh, my goodness! That is my mother! She did love me!" Clarence realized with tears building up.

The group moves on the next memory. They watch baby Clarence being taken to Harry to his home in New York City in the same mansion Cordelia lived in. A man hands Harry with a posthumous note from Mary saying that the baby is her son and that he is the father.

The group watch in horror that Harry wanted nothing to do with Clarence and rejected his newborn son. Harry has his assistant 'take care of him' and keeping this from Joan.

The assistant takes the baby away, but he does not kill him. Instead, he drives away to Boston, Massachusetts and dropped off Clarence at the orphanage and was taken in to live.

They move on to the next memory of Cordelia being born from her mother Joan. Cordelia notices that Joan was not as equally loving as her father wasn't either.

"Oh, my goodness! So, if we have the same father but different mothers, then that means…" Clarence asked, realizing something.

"That we are…?" Cordelia asked.

"Half-siblings?" Both Clarence and Cordelia answered at once.

Just then, Cordelia gives Clarence a heartwarming hug.

"Brother!" Cordelia called him.

Clarence had tears in his eyes, meeting his half-sister he never knew he had. So, he hugs her back. Gwen watched with tears in her eyes.

"So, you two ready to head back?" Gwen asked.

"Wait, I need to show him one more thing!" Cordelia said.

They move on to another memory and Cordelia shows Clarence how abusive both her parents were to her, to his horror. After leaving, she ran into Gwen who just shapeshifted from a ghost to her human form, thus making Clarence and Cordelia realize in shock Gwen was there the whole time.

"Gwen? You were right there in New York City?! You knew this whole time?!" Clarence asked, now confused.

Gwen nervously chucked and was forced to come clean.

"Yes, I wanted to know where you came from so I… kinda looked into your past last night and discovered your father was still alive. So, I traveled to New York to see for myself and discovered Cordelia running away." Gwen nervously confessed.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Clarence asked.

"Would you have believed me?" Gwen pointed out.

"Actually yes. I would've. You have magic and powers. I just wish you would've told me!" Clarence answered, feeling overwhelmed.

"You knew this whole time? But why did you help me?" Cordelia asked.

"Because I felt bad for the way they treated you. I was just treating you for your injured face then leave you alone until I hinted about your brother. But you begged me to help you, so I did!" Gwen answered.

"Okay, can we go back now? Please?" Clarence asked.

Gwen yelled,

"Wake up! Wake up!"

They all disappeared, and all regain control of their bodies back in Clarence's room.

"I'm so sorry Clarence. Cordelia. The Devil was right, I shouldn't have looked into your past. It is an invasion of privacy." Gwen said, feeling guilty.

Gwen prepares to leave the apartment.

"I can understand if you decide not to trust me anymore." Gwen said as she walked away.

"The Devil?" Cordelia asked.

"I'll explain later." Clarence said.

Clarence got up from the floor and placed his hand on Gwen's shoulder, stopping her from leaving.

"Wait." Clarence said.

Gwen looked sadly at Clarence.

"Look, I know you meant well, but I need you to tell me next time if you plan to do these things again. Because I made that mistake too when I trusted someone I shouldn't have and didn't listen to you. Look, we're not perfect, but we both learned from our mistakes. But, knowing that you were kind enough to find out where I came from means a lot to me." Clarence admitted.

"I promise, it won't happen again." Gwen promised.

"Well, next time you wanna look into the past, will you please tell me?" Clarence asked.

"I will." Gwen answered.

"Thank you, Gwen." Clarence said.

"So, what are we gonna do with your sister?" Gwen asked.

Clarence looked at Cordelia and thought for a moment.

"I don't want her going back to our father since now I know what kind of man he is. Maybe I'll let her stay here with me and Ms. Chalice until she gets a job and gets a place of her own just like you did with me when you brought me here." Clarence answered.

"You will?" Cordelia asked.

"Yes, but I also want to bring justice to our father for rejecting me and taken away to be killed. And to you too Cordelia for how he and your mother treated you all these years." Clarence said, determined to help Cordelia.

"If there's anything I can do, just tell me." Gwen said, offering to help.

"Well, can you go back to their mansion and gather all the evidence to expose him? You seem to be really good at that stuff Gwen." Clarence answered.

"Oh, I sure am." Gwen bragged.

"I'll go with you Gwen. You helped me, now I wanna help you. I know where you can find evidence. Besides, I need to get the rest of my stuff from my room." Cordelia said.

"Okay, but you gotta do exactly as I say, got it?" Gwen asked.

"Got it." Cordelia said.

That night, Gwen teleports herself and Cordelia back to New York City outside the Hopewell mansion. Gwen shapeshifts into a ghost, to Cordelia's shock.

"Don't freak out! It's one of my abilities." Gwen whispered.

Both girls sneak up to the mansion and Cordelia climbs up a ladder she used earlier to run away into her old room. Gwen flies up through the window and magically collected the remaining items in her room. Cordelia leads her throughout the mansion and up to one of Harry's portraits. Cordelia lifts the portrait off the wall, revealing a safe.

"What's in there?" Gwen asked.

"Everything we need. Except I don't know the combination." Cordelia whispered.

"Leave that to me." Gwen whispered.

Gwen raises her ink pen and magically unlocks the safe. Cordelia stared at Gwen in shock.

"Wow, you're just full of surprises." Cordelia complimented.

"Thanks, I get that a lot." Gwen said.

Cordelia quietly opened the safe and looked through files until she pulls one out. Both girls look through the papers, realizing it was the evidence they needed to expose Harry Hopewell for his treachery.

"This is it, Cordelia!" Gwen whispered.

Just then, they hear someone coming. Cordelia fears for her life and turned to Gwen. She quickly uses the inkwell to quietly lock the safe, put the portrait back on the wall and teleports themselves out of the mansion just in time before Harry came out of his room investigating the noise.

"Is someone there?!" Harry yelled.

But no one answered. Harry grumbled and went back to bed. Meanwhile, Gwen and Cordelia head to a local newspaper building. Gwen magically makes an envelope and stuffs the evidence inside. Gwen shapeshifted into a ghost and sneaks into the building and finds the chief editor's office and places it on the desk. Gwen returns to Cordelia and smiles.

"Oh Gwen, we did it!" Cordelia said and gave Gwen a hug.

Gwen hugs Cordelia back and said,

"What else are friends for?"

Gwen teleports themselves back to the Inkwell Isles at Clarence's apartment. There, they find Clarence and Ms. Chalice waiting for them.

"So, did you do it?" Clarence asked.

"Yep, the job is done. I'm pretty sure your father's reputation will be destroyed first thing tomorrow." Gwen said folding her arms.

"Heya girlfriend! Handsome was telling me everything about his real parents and you finding his half-sister." Ms. Chalice said.

"Oh, speaking of which. Cordelia, this is Ms. Chalice my best friend and Clarence's roommate." Gwen introduced.

Cordelia knelt, smiled and reached her hand to shake. Ms. Chalice shakes hands with Cordelia.

"So, my girlfriend helped you out too?" Ms. Chalice asked.

"Yes, she did. Did she help you too?" Cordelia asked.

"Yep, she sure did. And we're all here right now." Ms. Chalice said.

"That's wonderful." Cordelia said.

"Alright, we should turn in for the night. As for Cordelia, I'll put her in the apartment next door." Gwen said, looking at the time.

"Okay love. Good night." Clarence said and both kissed.

"Come on Chalice. Let's hit the sack." Clarence said as he took Ms. Chalice's hand.

"Okay… handsome." Ms. Chalice said as she yawned.

Gwen leads Cordelia to the empty apartment next door and shows her around.

"So, you can stay here until we figure out what we're gonna do." Gwen said.

"Gwen, I can't tell you how much I'm thankful for all your help." Cordelia said.

"Yeah, no problem. I've been using the magic inkwell to help people." Gwen said.

Cordelia gives Gwen another hug and she embraces her.

"Well, you should get some sleep. Tomorrow's another day." Gwen said.

Gwen magically unpacks all of Cordelia's belongings in the apartment then leaves her alone. Gwen heads back home to the cottage and heads upstairs to bed.

The next day, Gwen decided to go back to the human world. She teleports herself to Boston and picks up a newspaper. She read the headline "Harry Hopewell Arrested." She read the details of finding evidence that Harry had an illegitimate child with one of his deceased maids and had the child taken away to be killed. Gwen smiled at her work being done.

Then Gwen read that Harry's wife Joan is also arrested for child abuse and neglect, which also made her smile. She teleports herself back to the Inkwell Isles to show Clarence and Cordelia.

Both siblings were happy with the results and that justice was being served at last. Cordelia felt like she was finally free from her parents and ready to start a new life of her own. Gwen helps Cordelia get into nursing school where she studies to become a nurse.

After some time had passed, Cordelia gets a job as an intern at the Inkwell Hospital as she continues studying to earn her nursing degree. One day, Gwen and Cordelia meet at her apartment.

"Oh, Gwen! I got an internship at the Inkwell Hospital! I never dreamed I could be this happy!" Cordelia said as she hugged Gwen.

"Aw, good for you Cordelia." Gwen congratulated her.

"I owe this all to you and my big brother!" Cordelia said.

Cordelia still had Gwen in her embrace, feeling like she earned a sister.

Gwen has Cordelia release her and said,

"Well, I better get home to watch my 'brothers'. I'll talk to you later." Gwen said.

"You too sister. Bye!" Cordelia said happily as Gwen stepped through the door portal back to the cottage.

Gwen felt happy for helping Clarence learn the truth about his past and helping his half sibling start a new free life from her abusive parents and following her own path.
