Having full control of the pub, Pan and Yammu enjoyed their time eating and drinking to their hearts' content…
But with Yammu the only one actually drinking alcohol, Pan found herself a new challenge… bringing a heavily drunk Yammu back onto the ship. The teen had to half carry, half drag the woman to the pod, only to realize she didn't know how to drive it… After unsuccessfully pressing many buttons and getting nothing, she discovered another way to operate it… treat it like a hamster wheel. The pod was sphere shaped and when off its stands, could roll around. Once she got it out the side airlock, she rolled it into space, where the lack of gravity helped keep her afloat, and she managed to push the pod back towards Dondoro's ship.
It was a tedious task, but she found the bolt that opened the secret door and pushed the pod inside. Then it became another hardening task to drag Yammu out of the pod and down the corridors to her bunker.
Yammu laid on her cot, facing downward, knees pulled up to her chest, butt in the air, snoring up a storm… She wasn't going to be training for a while.
It was the first time Pan truly had the ship all to herself. What to do, what to do… It's not like she could fly the ship forward. If it took Yammu two years just to teach herself how to operate it, what the heck could Pan manage?
She could train herself using the holodeck! Only problem was she didn't really know how to program it…
Then again, what's the worst that could happen? The ship blows up because she was tinkering with it?
She entered the smaller room that led to the deck and looked over at the control panel. The buttons were foreign, but she recognized some that Yammu had pushed before. She pressed a large purple button on the corner, and the hologram slightly dimmed and hummed to life. This was easy!
A set of numbers then lit up on the panel. Pan remembered that she was last able to defeat level 10. There was a dial underneath that definitely controlled the difficulty. She turned it until the number hit 11…
Then she thought of something.
Yammu was beyond level 11. Last time she remembered, she barely beat level 20. Pan could definitely feel stronger than she ever had before. And if she was going to be a worthy student… No, a worthy Z-fighter, she had to push her limits! She was just floating along at this point.
So she set the dial to 20, then entered the holodeck.
The room dimmed until it was completely dark…
*BLAM!*
Out of nowhere, Pan was struck from the side by a massive fireball and crashed into the side of a nearby mountain. She slid down to the ground, severely injured, but not out yet. She slowly opened her eyes, noticing all sorts of hellfire blazing around her. She quickly blasted out of the way before the massive fist of a giant slug-like alien could pound her. But from behind, another fist slammed into her backside, and she went hurtling towards a third slug-monster giant, opening its jaws wide to engulf her.
Thinking quickly, Pan quickly cupped her hands to the side and grew a giant blue energy. "Ka me ha me HA!" she screamed, blasting the energy wave into the monster. It was taken down, and Pan managed to flip herself around and land on her feet. That's when she noticed four other slug monsters charging at her.
She quickly jumped back to the air and started rapid-firing ki blasts one after another, trying to take down the monsters. They were doing no more than being pushed down, but one monster managed to escape the fire and jump into the sky after Pan. It managed to catch her between its clasped fists and smack her back to the ground, where the force of the impact created a small crater around her.
Beaten and weakened, Pan struggled to stand back up, and panicked as another giant fist came at her. She didn't have time to escape, and instead was forced to catch the fist before it could crush her. However, the monster's strength was overwhelming, and Pan felt herself forced deeper into her crater, down to a knee, then both knees, and then some… She tried to push back, but she had already lost so much strength in so little time…
'How… How is this happening..?!' she thought to herself, 'I thought I'd gotten stronger… Why can't I beat this..?!'
"Damn it, Pan! This is EXACTLY why I didn't want you training!"
That voice… It couldn't be! "D… Dad?!"
She wasn't sure how, but she could definitely make out the hazy figure standing close by, watching disappointedly as she struggled.
"I knew you couldn't handle it," said Gohan, glowering, "And now you're about to be killed and I can't come save you. You should've just listened to me, young lady."
"N… no!" Pan gasped as she continued to keep the fist from crushing her, "I can… I can do this…!"
"You idiot!" Yammu's voice rang out. Surely enough, there she was, standing across from Gohan, arms crossed and scowling just as much as her father. "You can't do this! What made you think you can do the same level as me? You're nowhere near as strong! Heh… I don't need to kill you, when you're doing a good job killing yourself."
"I… I won't die..!" Pan stammered, though it was easier said than done. This fist was getting heavier, "I'll save myself… I know I can do it…"
"Stop kidding yourself!" shouted a raspier, deep voice. Pan glanced over. Even Vegeta was part of the jeering squad. "You can't handle a real threat and you know it!" The Saiyan prince narrowed his eyes. "Like I said, you're a pathetic excuse for a Saiyan…"
Pan squeezed her eyes shut, trying to keep the tears, and the urge to quit, at bay. "You're wrong…!" she muttered, "You're all wrong!"
"I don't know Pan… He's kinda got a point."
Pan's eyes widened and she let out a gasp. No… not him too!
She glanced upwards, and there he was… Grandpa Goku. Even he had given up on her…
"I mean, after all, you were never that good a fighter," said Goku, casually placing his hands behind his head. "Why else would I abandon you all the time? You really were better off staying on Earth and being a celebrity fighter instead. Oh well."
"No… Not you too, Grandpa…" Pan whimpered, feeling the last of her strength about to give, "If YOU don't believe in me… What's the point? Maybe it would be better if I just died here…"
'PAN! THAT'S NOT TRUE!'
Pan glanced up suddenly. She definitely heard Goku's voice, but the hazy figure in front of her was just standing there, puzzled, and his lips hadn't even moved. "Grandpa...?!"
'Pan, that's not me talking!' Goku's voice continued ringing out, 'That's your self-doubt trying to take control. You know DAMN WELL I would NEVER say anything like that to you!'
"G… Grandpa… What…?" Pan was trying to make sense out of everything going on. Was death playing tricks with her mind?
'Pan, you're right. You were never given a fair chance to prove your potential. I guess it was hard for me to train you when I was stuck in the body of a child… but that doesn't excuse me neglecting your training. But look how far you've come already, and you did it all on your own! You can't give up now!'
Easier said than done when your strength is nearly depleted and these annoying monster holograms were intent on murdering you…
'Listen Pan… I'm going to tell you what I told your father. You've got a great power buried deep inside of you. You have to reach down and let it all out. You just have to believe in yourself! I know it's not easy when it seems like no one else believes in you, but I believe in you! You can do this!
'Now stop lying around and kick this program's ass!'
She didn't know where it came from, but just like that, Pan found the power to fight back. In an explosion of ki, she released a ball of energy from herself, knocking back the monster holding her down. She then burst into the air, fist back, and punched the slug monster square in the face, knocking it backwards. She then charged in, throwing heavy hits and kicks at its head and then finally sending it crashing to the ground with a flip kick to the top of its head.
She was then caught in another fireball but forced herself to twist around and fling the fireball back into the second monster. She quickly followed up with a massive energy beam, which struck said monster, and blew it up to pieces.
The remaining two charged at her, but she didn't let up. She charged right back and struck one down with all her might, then flipped around and rapid-fire the final with multiple ki blasts. She then burst into the slug's gut and performed another aura-wave, exploding it from the inside, and then charged back at the last remaining slug monster, throwing punches and kicks rapidly until it lost its balance and fell backwards. Then she quickly hovered over it, cupped her hands to the side, and blasted one final Kamehameha wave into its head. She didn't let up until she knew it was good and dead.
All five monsters were defeated. Pan finally had enough and floated back down to the ground, breathing heavily, using the last of her strength to just stand upwards. Sensing the level was defeated, the holograms disappeared, and Pan found herself back in a bright, white room.
She smiled to herself… to him. 'Thanks, Grandpa…' she thought to herself before she fell forward on the ground, completely unconscious.
Meanwhile, outside of the spaceship, a luxury cruiser was closing in.
"Ooooh, take a look at THAT beauty!" a sinister voice snickered.
"And here I thought we hit the jackpot with this one!" said a second voice, "Imagine what we can conquer with THAT behemoth!"
"Then it's settled! Gather the boys, the loot, AND our little 'guests'! We're gettin' ourselves a NEW ship! Heheheheeeee!"
