Chapter Three: "Meet the Saiyans"
Jason enters the Time Nest.
"Hey!", Trunks greets from next to the dome house off to the right of the gate, "Oh, yeah, I forgot to tell you something important!", Trunks remembers as Jason stands before him, "There are two main jobs that Time Patrollers have to do".
"Alright, what are they?", Jason asks him.
"Okay", Trunks nods, "The first is the Time Patrol that you did just now to fix the problems that happen in the scrolls. The second is the Parallel Quest. Let's see...', he stops to think, "I guess it's better to just experience it for yourself. I'm sure you'll get used to it very fast! do you know where the Time Machine Port of Toki Toki City is?".
Jason nods, "The Quest Information building?"
"Yeah, talk to one of the robots there", Trunks informs, "Though some quests can be started by talking to those within the city, but they'll appear at the station later for redoes.", he pulls something from his pocket, "Oh, I'll give you this, too. It's a Scouter".
Jason grabs it and sees that it look like an earmuff in a rectangular shape, with a green lense at the side to go over his eye. The shape gave the feel that it should be on his left ear.
The Scouters give more accurate information then just Ki sensing. It was far newer then the one he saw on Raditz.
"My mom created this based ff of the scouters Frieza's army used to use!", Trunks says in excitement, "There are more scouters out thee with a different look, but they function the same. This is essential battle gear and especially useful in Parallel Quests!"
Jason puts on the Scouter and goes back to the Time Machine Station and approaches one of the robots.
"Welcome to the Parallel Quest desk!", the robot greets, "Checking data! Checking data! Checking Complete! Checking Complete! You're a chosen elite patroller allowed to time travel with scrolls! I see!", apparently he is already in their database, "Welcome! This is the PQ desk! This is where you reduce the effects of the Runaway Time Fragments caused by distortions in history. How the Time Fragments are born is complicated, so just ask Trunks. The runaway Time Fragments have turned into PQ and are floating in time and space. I'll have you use a special time machine to go to that PQ. I will have you defeat the enemies that are the cause of the fragments going out of control. These fragments are completely unpredictable. Enemies can become allies and vie versa. Don't think to much about it and just defeat whoever you need to and calm the Time Fragments. It'll be a good experience, and we'll even reward you with skills and equipment. Along with zeni based on your performance. it is a job after all. Would you like to accept a Parallel Quest?"
"Yeah. Let's go", Jason says.
"All that is available for you right now is PQ no.00, Parallel Quest Tutorial", the bots says before loading the information and Jason leaves for the quest.
As he walks through the gate to the time machines, Trunks greets him with a smile and directs him to the one of them, teaches him how to use it, since it had simplistic controls, and they leave.
Somewhen, Kami's Lookout aka The Lookout
Jason and Trunks land on this ancient floating platform with some trees all over with concrete like flooring and towers. The most noteworthy thing was the buildings which Trunks now stands before.
Trunks looks to Jason, "This place is the Lookout, or more commonly known as Kami's Lookout. A geostationary platform that orbited the skies of Earth till it was connected to Korin's Tower via the Power Pole in Goku's childhood"
"So, now what?", Jason asks.
"During PQ, you'll have to travel to other areas on the planets, a map will be provided via the Scouter", Trunks explains, "Let's head for Gizard Wasteland".
Jason sees where it was via his Scouter and flies to the location at top speed.
Gizard Wasteland, Central Plains Area
Jason soon arrives, with Trunks landing on a rock formation to talk.
"There is an item in this area. Try finding it using a Scouter!", Trunks informs.
Jason looks through the scouter, closing his right eye to focus on it, and spots a few items lying around. He flies around the area and picks them up.
"These Scouters will show any item in an area that is out of place for you to find and retrieve", Trunks tells him, "Onto the next location", and he flies off.
Jason looks to his Scouter to see it was marked on the map for him and flies after Trunks.
Wastelands, Great West Desert Area
"An enemy is coming!", Trunks yells out as they arrive, "Defeat them!"
Jason's scouter shows info for the fact it will warn when a new enemy or new supporter for the situation at hand will arrive on the scene, before doing said thing.
A little green humanoid man arrives that looks to be made of plants with a brainy head, red eyes, 3 fingers and toes clawed hands and feet, and a darker shade of green bio armor on its torso.
This is a Saibaman, of the Cultivars.
Jason immediately attacked the Saibaman and comboed it to death.
Soon after, two more fly in and Jason quickly dealt with them as well.
Suddenly, his scouter shows a 'WARNING', which shows when a much stronger opponent then the rest appears.
"So, there were other Saiyans alive besides us", Raditz remarks as he appears in the wastelands with Jason and Trunks.
'Great. This guy again', Jason thought to himself before immediately trying to cave Raditz's face in.
"Impossible!", Raditz cries out as e's on the back foot of Jason's assault, "What's with this power?!", before Jason finishes him, "Dammit... me defeated?! How?!".
Jason's Scouter signals the end of the Parallel Quest, along with his performance ranking of Z (lowest to highest grade were D, C, B, A, S, and Z) and the Zeni he earned
Trunks now approaches Jason, "The PQ is over. Let's head back to the city".
Age 850, Time Machine Station, Toki Toki City
"Welcome back! How was the Parallel Quest?", Trunks exclaims like he wasn't there, "Unlike Time Patrols, Parallel Quests allows you to bring back lots of items. And, if you encounter powerful enemies, it'll be great training, too!"
Jason nods, "Can't argue with that".
Trunks smiles, "Please be sure to do Parallel Quests in addition to your Time Patrol! I'll go back to the Time Nest. If you're ready to do the Time Patrol, just come and talk to me", and he leaves for the Time Nest.
Jason decided to do a few more PQ, which he learns that he can take time duplicates of warriors he meets on patrol. He also learns some new techniques from this, including Goku's own Kamehameha that he saw the other Saiyan use.
He also learned about Masters/Mentors. Historical warriors from other timelines that will teach skills that aren't available from the PQ. They currently limit it to four skills they'll teach and they appear at random. Once they teach you an Ultimate Ki attack, if they're you're active master, you get a Z-Assist, which brings your master's soul into you and increases the attack's power.
For Jason, he first met Piccolo
"So this is Toki Toki City", Piccolo remarks as Jason greets him, "It kind of resembles the lookout on Earth", he looks to Jason, "What are you? You live here?"
"I'm a Saiyan that's joined Time Patrol with Trunks", Jason answers.
"Time Patrol? You're friends with Trunks?", Piccolo asks before realizing, "So you're the guy Trunks wants trained. You seem to have lot of potential. Maybe more than Gohan", he crosses his arms, "My training is harsh. I might kill you by mistake", at Jason's raised eyebrow, "You think I'm kidding, There was a time I was a demon. Now, do you want to be my student?"
"Teach me, Demon", Jason tells him.
"All right. Then I'll test your determination", Piccolo states, "Fight me and show me your strength. I'll fight seriously. This is what you wanted", he sighs, "If you win, I'll teach you a special skill", he stares Jason down, "Grow strong or die. You feel motivated?"
Needless to say, Jason succeeded and learned Piccolo's Evil Explosion ki blast super attack
"Just like Trunks said, you do have potential", Piccolo states, "You're my student starting today. I'll be training you hard". He went on to explain some of the details behind Evil Explosion before saying, "Having a skill doesn't make you stronger. An attack is useless if you miss. Use the skill in battle and once you master it, come see me. All Masters wait here in the Time Machine Station for their students on their missions".
Jason also learned why they call them Supers and Ultimates. Super Skills are Ki based attacks/skills that require minimal Ki. Ultimate Skills are more powerful skills that require at least three times as much Ki. Training can lower the Ki cost and increase Ki storage, though.
Armed with new skills, Jason then headed for the Time Nest to go on the next Time Patrol for Trunks.
"Hey", Trunks greets from beside the dome house again, "You ready for Time Patrol?"
"Yeah, let's do this", Jason tells him.
"I'm counting on you", Trunks says before they head for the Time Vault
Looking at the affected Scroll of Eternity, the altered timeline showed everyone save Goku were dead in the battle against the invading Saiyans. Both Nappa and Vegeta went Great Ape and fought a losing Goku while the others were killed by Saibamen, the winning side in the scroll were emitting the evil aura that Raditz had.
Note, Jason just learned what a Great Ape was and has plans in place to deal with that later.
"Right here... History is changing", Trunks proclaims as he looks at the events unfold before then looking to Jason, "I would really appreciate your help".
"Right", Jason nods and holds the scroll up like last time and vanishes in the same fanfare.
Age 762, the plains, Central Plains Area
Not far from where Gohan trained with Piccolo through out the last year, Tien and Yamcha were back to back. Tien elbows a Saibaman away while Yamcha fires off a Kamehameha.
They are surrounded on all sides by Saibamen as the two Saiyan invaders look on.
Just then, a bright light appears in the sky and descends to the ground in the same manner as Jason disappeared from the Time Vault.
Jason joins the side of the Z-Fighters, as the Time Patrol calls them, and faces off with the Saibamen.
"Who are you? Are you an ally?", Tien demands as the fend off the invaders' minions, noting Jason's Scouter, "You look strong, but I suggest you stay back"
Krillin then adds in, "See those guys over there with the huge powers?", he gestures to the Saiyans, "Well, we're gonna have to fight them".
"That's right. Fighting these little guys isn't the end", yamcha states with a cool attitude.
'You're supposed to die first against these little guys', Jason thinks about Yamcha, learning the correct historical events before coming here.
"Leave him be", Piccolo calls out from his own fight with the Saibamen, "If we lose, the Earth's done for anyway", just as Jason caves in a Saibaman's face, "If that happens, there's nowhere to run", he looks to Jason, "Go fight them if you really want".
"Heh, another weakling isn't going to make any difference", Nappa taunts.
Vegeta though, notices the tail on Jason, "If possible, please try not to bore us", he calls out to the warriors.
Jason then hears Trunks again, this time via his Scouter, as he fights off the little green men, {"The Saibamen of this history... they're just stronger... and there are more of them... Just focus on reducing the number of Saibamen for now"}.
Jason proceeds to destroy as many Saibamen as possible drawing attention from Piccolo when he used Evil Explosion and the attention of the humans when he used Kamehameha.
During the fight, Jason got seperated from the others, and with him were not just the normal Saibamen but pink and white colored variants. These new Cultivars are Tennenman (pink) and Jinkouman (white)
{"Ugh"}, Trunks groans through the Scouter, {"We go seperated from Tien and the others... At this rate, they're going to lose! You have to hurry!"}.
Jason began to disassemble the Cultivars
"Yamcha! Chiaotzu! Tien, too...", Jason could hear Krillin cry out in the distance. While those ones were supposed to die, Jason needs to hurry before the others can. "Goku! Hurry up and get here!", Krillin cries for Goku to arrive.
{"It's a shame, but this is the true history"}, Trunks comments to Jason.
"Yeah", Jason remarks and defeats another Cultivar.
"Pitiful Saibamen with a double KO! And against these losers, too!", Nappa remarks with cruelty.
"Hey! Could someone please remove this trash from the battlefield", Vegeta taunts.
Jason quickly deals with the last of the plant-like grown warriors and now stands with Piccolo, who defeats own Saibaman.
Nappa then walks before them, with a smile on his mustache face. His eyes flashed red as he is surrounded by the evil aura.
"Now comes the real fight", Nappa proclaims, "Which one should I take ot the cleaners first?"
Trunks speaks to Jason, "keep your guard up... I sense an evil energy coming from within Nappa. That evil power... when they're engulf within it... their power level is multiplied. So history will progress like its supposed to".
Nappa was knocked out of his armor, leaving him in boots, gauntlets, and black briefs.
He angrily charges a Ki blast, "Die!", and fires a pink beam at Gohan.
before it could reach him, Piccolo stands before the child in an X pose, taking the full power of the attack to spare Gohan.
"Ugyaaaaaguaa!", Piccolo yells out, with Jason only watching as this is what was meant to happen.
After the attack, Jason rushes Nappa.
"P... Piccolo...", Gohan cries before glaring at Nappa, "I will defeat you!", and joining Jason in the fight with Krillin.
"Run... Gohan...", Piccolo grunts out as his final words before he dies.
"Hmph! Fool", Nappa remarks, "Changed my kill order. Whatever. It's all the same", only to be met with a fist to the face from Jason.
"T-too strong...", Krillin mutters in lost hope, "He's way too strong".
{"You don't have to defeat him"}, Trunks tells Jason, {"You just have to buy time.. at least until Goku arrives. We have to defend Krillin and Gohan", because they aren't supposed to die."}
After a vicious assault onto him by Jason, Nappa growls out, "Why you...! Now I'm mad!"
{"You're overpowering him and he still won't fall... this is one tough guy...!"}, Trunks comments on Nappa for the time period this happens, {"This is the power of a pure Saiyan...!"}
Nappa is soon hunched over, hands on knees as he pants, while Jason and the remaining two Z-Fighters stand before him.
Suddenly, Goku lands before the shortest duo of Gohan and Krillin.
He looks back to them, "Krillin, just stay back! I'll take it from here!"
Krillin looks to Gohan, "They're okay", referring to Goku and Jason, "Come on, let's go!".
Gohan looks to Goku, not wanting to leave them, "D-Dad...!", but relents and flies away with Krillin.
Looking to the injured Nappa and his opponent, Vegeta declares, "Nappa is having trouble. I'll deal with Kakarot!".
Goku flies away north to the Gizard Wastelands with Vegeta in pursuit, leaving Jason with Nappa. Jason could see Vegeta getting the same evil aura as the others he fought, he needs to hurry and go help Goku.
"Ugh...!", Nappa cries out as he shakes his head, getting back in the game to fight as he seems to recover his vitality.
Jason couldn't hear Vegeta talking to Goku while he works on finishing Nappa but then hears a yell from Vegeta.
"Nappa, hurry up and beat him!", Vegeta commands of Nappa.
"Dammit! Dammit!", Nappa yells out as he is instead defeated by Jason, "I'm an elite warrior!", he gives as a death cry before being vaporized by Jason's own Evil Explosion.
Krillin looks on in awe, "A-Amazing! Just amazing! With these two.. We can win!"
Jason soon flies to join Goku in the battle against Vegeta, though he is then taken aback by the fact that Goku has red aura around him.
"What the hell?", he asks aloud before shaking it off and joining the fight.
At the sight of Jason appearing, Vegeta tsks, "Dammit, Nappa lost. Hmph... Stupid Idiot...", almost happy to be rid of the other Saiyan.
{"Father..."}, Trunks mutters in the Scouter, {"No, he's just another person... swallowed by that evil energy"}
"Very well. Both of you come at me at once", Vegeta accepts the challenge, "Rejoice! I, the elite warrior, will take some time to play with you", only to get an Evil Explosion to the face.
"Even a regular guy can become an elite if he works hard enough", Goku shares his opinion.
"Heh heh heh... That's a funny joke", Vegeta laughs, "Then I'll show you the wall that no amount of effort can possibly surmount!"
The 2-on-1 went back and forth, Vegeta being double teamed till he stumbles back in pain.
"A.. Gu...", he grunts as he stares at them in anger, "You'll pay for this...!", and he flies high into the air, taking a unique pose.
Goku does the same for a Kamehameha while activating the red aura, "Ka...Me...Ha...Me..."
"Galick Gun!", Vegeta yells out as he fires a purple-pink ki beam at Goku.
"Haaaaaaa!", Goku yells out as well, fring his own ki beam.
The beams clash and the beam struggle begins.
"W-What?!", Vegeta is stunned to see the attack match his.
"Kaio-Ken... Times Fooooooouuuur!", Goku yells as his power is increased and his Kamehameha overtakes Vegeta's Galick Gun.
"A-Ahhhhhhhh!", Vegeta yells as the beam hits him.
"Uwaaaaaaah!", he yells as the beam sends him flying higher, but he is able to escape and watches as the beam goes to space
"Damn you!", Vegeta yells in rage, feeling humiliated. seeing no moon, he flies back to the ground before Jason and goku, "In that case... I'll just have to become a Great Ape!", as he holds a unique Ki orb in hand, "Yaaaaah!", he throws it into the sky.
"W-What?", Goku asks in stunned horror.
"Burst open and mix!", Vegeta calls out, holding his hand to the orb in the sky, which expands and then gives off the feel of a full moon.
Jason looks away while Vegeta gazed upon artificial moon known as a Power Ball.
"Fu... ha... Haa!", Vegeta grunts as his eyes went blank and his body bumped before expanding, growing fur all over his skin and a snout on his face. Before long, there was a giant ape with a monkey's tail in a bodysuit and armor standing before Jason and Goku.
"No...way...!", Goku utters.
"Guhahaha!", Great Ape Vegeta yells in a deep voice, "Now you see! This is the end for you!"
Jason was in a bit of a pickle. He wasn't able to train to control his own Great Ape form, so he has to fight while he avoids looking at the thing in the sky.
"A-A great ape! A monster", Goku yells out.
"Let me tell you something fun... Saiyans in their Great Ape form have powers 10 times greater than normal!", Vegeta taunts.
Goku reaches a realization while Jason fights the bigger foe, "I-I see... Now I get it... The monster that killed Grandpa... and the on that destroyed the arena... That... that was... That was all me...!"
{"A Great Ape"}, Trunks says, {"It's huge... But... you can defeat him, I know it!"}
Jason and Goku flew around the Great Ape, Vegeta trying to swat them like actual flies, while they fire off ki attacks.
Krillin and Gohan looked on before Krillin looked to Gohan, "Gohan! I'll go with you!".
"Y-Yes!", Gohan nods, resolute to end the fight.
They fly in and join the fight.
"He became a Great Ape!", Krillin calls out to Jason and Goku, "But... But he'll turn back if we cut his tail off!", he looks to Gohan, "Gohan! Let's go cut off that tail!", as the shorter duo sly around for the perfect chance, while Jason and goku kept the Great Ape's attention.
{"Let Krillin cut off the tail. All you have to do is fight to protect them!"}, Trunks instructs.
Jason grabs the Great Ape Vegeta by his tail and lifts him up before slamming his big ass onto the ground. He then flies around and fires some Ki blasts to Vegeta's eyes, blinding him as he stumbles back.
Krillin holds his right hand up, "Destructo-Disc!", Krillin yells as Ki energy appears in his hands in the shape of a disc, like a large pizza in size, before he throws it forward and severs the tail from Vegeta, "All right!", he cheers to Jason, who replies with a nod.
"D-Damn it...!", Vegeta grumbles in despair as he begins to shrink, along with his severed tail, "M-My tail...!"
Soon, the tail-less Vegeta in his true form stood before them, panting in exhaustion but still covered in that evil aura, ready to fight.
"I-I did it... I cut his tail off! Y-Yes! YES!", Krillin cheers as the four prepare to finish the fight against Vegeta, "And he's back to normal!"
"You bastards...!", Vegeta tsks in anger at the loss of his tail, "You're absolutely ready to die today, aren't you?", entering a stance to face off against Goku and Jason
{"Yes! You got him out of his Great Ape form"}, Trunks cheers, {"Now go and defeat Vegeta!"}
Goku and Jason both rush Vegeta hitting him and knocking him around with combos, left and right. Hitting him with Ki Blasts and Strikes before Jason ends the fight.
"Kamehame...Ha!", Jason yells as he fires his Ki beam at Vegeta, knocking him back and onto the ground, defeated.
Goku collapses as well, overexerted and injured from the fight.
As they laid on the ground, Vegeta's Saiyan Space Pod hovers down near him and opens its canopy.
"You're not getting away!", Krillin yells out to Vegeta as he struggles to stand, slowly hobbling over to the Prince of Saiyans trying to crawl into the pod.
Only for Jason to stand before him, stopping him form continuing. Krillin looks up to him, seeing him shake his head in denial.
"Why are you stopping me?!", Krillin demands, confused as to why this ally is saving the enemy now.
Before Jason can say anything, Goku cuts in from his place on the ground, "Krillin... It's okay...", bringing the bald midget's attention.
"W-What?!", Krillin asks his friend.
"Next time... I'll... I'll beat him... on my own!", Goku grunts out, he then looks to Jason, "Thank you"
Jason only nods before looking to the Space Pod that Vegeta was in fly away into the sky and out to space.
Age 850, Time Nest
Jason returns to the Time Nest and Trunks greets him.
"Finally...", Trunks sighs, "It's back to normal now. The Scroll of Eternity... has been corrected", he stops and brings a hand to his chin in thought, "Still... Why did something like this even happen? It should be impossible... You can't change history like this".
"It seems, someone traveled through time and changed history", a womanly voice sounds out throughout the Time Nest, "Just like you did in the past. Right, Trunks?".
"Toooh...", and bird caws out, "Kiiii!"
Jason and Trunks look to where it was, in the air above them within the Time Nest.
The bird looked like an owl, mostly white in color with yellow accents on its wings, tail, and brows. it also had a long white... beard?.. it looked like.
Trunks looks to the gate of the Time Nest and sees someone approaching, with her hands on her hips. Jason looks to her as well.
She was youtful, short, petite. she kind of looks like a kid. She head pink-red chin-length hair with combed bangs, framing her face. Her skin was a pink-purple. She wore purple robe top with shoulder pads and lighter purple sleeves and darker purple pants, with a yellow sash on her waist. She let the top hang off her shoulders, exposing her tight undershirt with no sleeves. She wore white high-heels on her feet. Finally, were the earrings with small yellow balls hanging from them on her pointed ears.
"Hello!", she greets with a smile and cheerful tone while raising her hand as a wave.
"Ah...", Trunks sweat drops, "Hello there", he turns to Jason with a forced smile, "This is the master of the Time Nest. She's the Supreme Kai of Time, and a very important person", all the while said Supreme Kai of Time was doing funny poses behind Trunks in greeting to Jason, "she manages the flow of time throughout the entire universe, keeping a close eye on history and protecting it".
Suddenly, the previous bird lands on her head, weighting her down and cover her face with the beard.
"What the...! What are you doing?", Trunks yells at the bird in distress.
"Tooh Kiiii!", the bird caws.
"Really?", the Supreme Kai of Time asks the owl, parting the beard to look up at it in anger, "Just what in the heck to you think you're doing?!", she yells, waving her arms and scaring the bird off her.
"Toooooh! Toooooh!", it hoots.
"What is your deal today?", she demands of the owl, holding her fists before her in an angry anime girl pose, "Are you using me head as a perch now?!"
"Kii! Kii!", the owl hoots.
"Shut up!", she yells back, waving her arms up and down again, "i don't care if you're mad! I demand an apology!"
All the while, Trunks was hunched in the same way a child would when being yelled at, feeling embarrassed by proxy.
he looks to Jason, "As I said...", forcing a smile, "She's a very important person... Just trust me... hehehehe".
"Oh, geez!", the Supreme Kai of Time mutters as the owl flew away.
"Um, Supreme Kai of Time...", Trunks buts in.
"Oh...", she looks to him, "Oh, sorry", she then looks to Jason, "Anyhow, you must be the warrior Shenron summoned. I'm the Supreme Kai of Time! Nice to meet ya!".
"Same", Jason says back, "I'm Jason Todd".
Trunks comes in close to Jason, "You know... she may not seem like it, but she's in quite a high position in the universe".
"By the way, that bird you saw just now? That's my best friend, Tokitoki", she adds in.
"Like the city Time Patrol's in?", Jason asks her, to which she nods.
"Best friend that steps on you maybe...", Trunks grumbles under his breath.
Ignoring him, the Kai of Time continues, "You're work is , Yajirobe was the one who was supposed to cut off Vegeta's tail, I can deal with that in the clean up", She smiles, "You guys seem talented. I think you two make a good team".
"Thank you very much", Trunks says to her, "but sadly... until we find the cause... this is far from over. What is happening".
"Seems there are two time travelers wit stranger energy... And they're messing with the flow of time", the Supreme Kai of Time adds in, having done her own work into the changes, "I don't know what they're up to, but I'll tell you what. I have a bad feeling about this".
"Time Traveling duo...?", Jason asks aloud, "Who could that be...?"
"We'll start by finding them!", Trunks tells him, "let's do this!"
For now, Jason heads back into Toki Toki City to train more and do more PQ. He also hopes that he can learn that skill Goku was using against Vegeta.

I figured it would be the best way to tell the difference between talking with character sthat are there in person and those that are not without mentioning the details behind it.
Cultivars is what viz media called the Saibamen, so I'm using it to call the collective of Saibaman, Tennenman, Jinkouman, and more
To those who may have noticed, I'm using the locations from the DBZ Kakarot game, so they may be different from the Xenoverse locations, if slightly.
I'll also only be writing about this first Parallel Quest, no others will be written in detail. Same with the Mentors/Masters, I'll either only do Piccolo's first training mission and mention the training with others or all the first missions and mention the rest of the training.
