Ch 4 The Next Generation
Simba didn't have to look very far for Nala. He soon found his mate by the watering hole, being comforted by Sarafina. "Nala," Simba said, causing both Nala and Sarafina to look at him. "I need to talk to you."
"Why so you can break my baby's heart again?" Sarafina spat out, glaring at Simba.
"Look Sarafina I'm sorry," Simba said. "And I understand you're both angry with me and you both have every right to be but Nala is my mate and I really need to talk to her alone. Please?"
"I don't think," Sarafina began.
"Its alright Mom," Nala said softly. "I can handle this."
"Fine," Sarafina growled, still glaring at Simba. "But I'm not going far. I'll be just around the corner if you need me." With that Sarafina gave Nala a nuzzle and walked away, purposely bumping Simba's shoulder as she left.
"Remind me not to piss her off again," Simba muttered.
"What do you want Simba?" Nala growled, glaring at her mate.
"Nala I'm so sorry for the way I acted," Simba said. "I was such a jerk and you didn't deserve that. Its not your fault things are the way they are. And its certainly not that innocent cub's fault either."
"Go on," Nala said, her voice monotoned.
"I need to fix this mess," Simba declared. "But I can't do that alone. I need you by my side. I love you and I'm going to be the best mate to you and the best father to our child. I promise you that."
"Oh Simba," Nala whispered, embracing her mate. "I know you will. And I love you too. But if you ever speak to me like that again I won't be so forgiving. Understand?"
"I understand," Simba said. "And trust me it will never happen again."
"Good," Nala said, giving Simba's cheek a lick. "Now lets go home. My feet are killing me." Simba smiled at his mate, grateful that she forgave him. With that the Royal Couple headed back to Pride Rock so Nala could rest.

A few weeks past and Nala's pregnancy was progressing nicely. The time had also come for Zira to give birth. After hours the tan lioness gave birth two twins. A daughter and a son were born. "At last I have a son that's worthy of taking down Simba!" Zira cried out, pulling her newborn son close while shoving her daughter to the side.
"Zira she has to nurse too," Shida said, gently pushing the newborn girl towards Zira.
"Oh very well," Zira grumbled as she roughly pulled the cub to her and allowed her to latch on next to her brother.
"So what's their names?" Cala asked, smiling down at the newborns.
"His name is Kovu," Zira said, licking her son's head. "And she's Vitani." Zira nodded sharply at her daughter, who was looking up at her with wide blue eyes.
"Where on Earth did she get those eyes from?" Cala wondered.
"From my mother," Zira informed her friend. "My mother had those same blue eyes Vitani has."
"Can I see my new siblings?" Zira's six month old son, Nuka asked from his place in the corner.
"No!' Zira growled, causing the child to jump. "I don't want you breathing on them! Now go away before I beat you senseless!"
"Yes Mother!" Nuka cried out, his voice shaking with fear as he ran away from his mother. Cala and Shida shook their heads sadly but neither lioness said anything. Neither one of them wanted a face full of claws. So the pair just sat beside Zira and admired the newborn cubs.

Nuka ran until he felt like his lungs were going to explode. The brown coated cub looked around and to his shock he realized he was right in front of the cave where his father, Scar was being held. Nuka stared at the cave, debating on rather or not he wanted to see his father. After a few minutes Nuka decided to do just that. Taking a deep breath Nuka walked towards the cave where Sarafina, Sarabi and two other lionesses were keeping guard. "What do you want?" Sarabi snapped, glaring at the child.
"Sarabi!" Sarafina exclaimed. "Stop that! Kings Above he's just a cub!"
"He's not just a cub Sarafina," Sarabi shot back. "He's Scar's cub."
"I...I just wanted to see my Dad," Nuka stammered. "But its alright. I'll just leave." With that Nuka began to leave. But he ran smack into Simba, who was coming to check on Scar. Nuka fell to the group with an 'oof'
"Whoa there little one where's the fire?" Simba asked with a slight laugh as he helped Nuka to his feet. "Are you alright?"
"S...sorry King Simba," Nuka stammered, his blood red eyes wide. "I didn't mean to run into you. I'm fine though."
"Its alright," Simba said with a smile. "I'm just glad you're alright. And you don't have to be afraid of me young one."
"I...I just wanted to see my father," Nuka said. "But I know now I can't. So I'll just..." Nuka turned and began to walk away.
"Wait," Simba said, causing Nuka to stop in his tracks. "You're Nuka aren't you? Scar and Zira's son?" Nuka nodded and Simba stared at the child. Then Simba smiled at the cub again. "Well Nuka that's all the more reason you don't have to be afraid of me. We are family after all."
"We are?" Nuka asked, clearly confused.
"Yes we are," Simba said with a nod. "You see Nuka your father, Scar is my uncle. So that makes us cousins."
"Oh," Nuka said softly. "That makes sense."
"And if you want to see your father then you can," Simba said.
"Really?" Nuka asked, the surprise clear in his voice. "Thanks King Simba."
"Simba you can't," Sarabi began.
"I can Mother," Simba shot back. "And that's what I'm going to do. And I won't hear any arguments from anyone. Understand?" Simba gave his mother a sharp look when he said this part.
"Yes Simba I understand," Sarabi said, clearly unhappy with the situation. But the tan coated former Queen knew now wasn't the time to discuss this with her son. So Sarabi decided to wait and talk to her son later about Nuka and Scar.
"Good," Simba said, curtly Then he turned to Nuka and said in a much calmer tone, "Come with me," motioning with his head for Nuka to follow him. "Is he awake?" Simba asked, looking at Sarafina
"Not that I know of," Sarafina said. "He's been quiet all day. No movement either." Simba nodded and turned to Nuka.
"Are you sure you want to see him?" the golden King asked. "Or do you want to wait until he's awake?"
"No," Nuka said, shaking his head. "I want to see him now. That way he can't yell at me." Simba gave the cub a look but said nothing as he moved the rock to the side so Nuka could enter the cave.

Nuka approached Scar's unmoving form and gulped. "H...hello Father," Nuka said softly. "Its me. Your son Nuka. I just wanted to tell you Mother had the cub. Well she had two cubs actually. A boy and a girl. Kovu and Vitani are their names. I just thought you'd want to know." Just then Scar began to move. Nuka jumped back, startled by the movement. Scar's eyes opened slightly and he looked at Nuka, who took a small step towards him. "F...Father?" Nuka whispered, getting close to Scar's face. Scar opened his eyes fully and lifted his head slightly. Then he opened his mouth to speak.
