Ch 5 A Surprising Outcome
"Nuka," came Scar's weak and raspy voice. "What the Hell are you doing here?"
"I...I came to see you Father," Nuka stammered. "I...I wanted to let you know about Mother having my new brother and sister."
"Go away!" Scar cried out, snapping his teeth at his son. Nuka jumped back to avoid being bitten. "I don't want you here!" Scar shouted, although due to his weakened state his shouts came out more like harsh whispers. "Leave now before I eat you!" By now Simba had gone into the cave and the golden King quickly scooped the terrified cub away from Scar.
"That's enough Scar!" Simba shouted, baring his teeth at his Uncle. Scar's green eyes went wide when he saw his nephew. But then a sort of smile went across his muzzle.
"Well now if it isn't my would be murderer nephew," the brown coated lion said mockingly. "Come to finish me off have you?"
"If I had wanted you dead I would have left you at the bottom of the cliff," Simba growled, glaring at Scar. "So if I were you I'd watch myself."
"Oooh I quiver with fear," Scar said with a laugh. But his laugh quickly turned into a cough as he struggled to breathe. Simba just shook his head and turned his back on his uncle as he continued to have a coughing fit. Without another word Simba and Nuka exited the cave and pushed to rock back in front of the entrance.
"Zazu!" Simba called out. Within seconds the blue hornbill was in front of the King.
"Yes Sire?" Zazu said with a bow.
"Get Rafiki please," Simba said. "Tell him Scar's awake."
"Yes Sire," Zazu said as he took off towards Rafiki's Tree.
"That was scary," Nuka said softly. Simba pulled his younger cousin close.
"I'm sorry you had to deal with that," the golden King said.
"Its alright," Nuka said. "I'm used to it. My father was never very nice to me. Neither is my mother for that matter. Its not a big deal."
"Nuka you're just a cub," Simba said. "No child deserves that treatment. Especially from their own parents.
"I'm a useless weakling," Nuka said with a shrug. "I deserve it."
"Never say that," Simba said firmly. "You are not useless Nuka. And no one deserves that kind of treatment no matter what. Understand?
"You really think I'm not useless?" Nuka asked with surprise. No one had ever told him that in his whole life.
"Yes Nuka I do think that," Simba said with a smile. "And you should too."
"Thanks King Simba," Nuka said with a smile. "You're not so bad after all." With that Nuka quickly gave Simba's front leg a hug and ran off to find his mother.
"What was that about?" Nala asked, coming onto the scene.
"Nuka wanted to see Scar," Simba informed his mate.
"And how did that go?" Nala asked.
"About as well as you'd expect it to go," Simba said with a scowl. "That poor cub has really got it rough. He deserves so much better than Scar and Zira for parents. They treat that poor kid like elephant dung."
"I know they do," Nala said with a sigh.
"Well I'm not going to allow anyone else to treat Nuka or his new siblings badly," Simba said, his voice full of determination. "I may not be able to stop Zira from mistreating her children but I sure as Hell can stop the rest of the Pride from doing so." Simba shot his mother and Sarafina a look when he said this part. Then he turned towards the rest of his Pride and said, "If I hear about anyone mistreating any cub in this Pride it won't be pretty. Am I understood?"
"But Simba Nuka is..." Sarabi began.
"Mother I'm well aware of who Nuka's parents are," Simba said. "And lets not forget that Nuka is also my cousin. And that makes him a Prince of the Pridelands. And he is to be treated as such. Am I clear?"
"Yes King Simba," the lionesses said, dipping their heads to Simba.
"Good," Simba said as he turned and walked away from the Pride.
"Simba that was very kind of you," Nala said with a smile.
"I feel bad for the kid," Simba said. "And at the end of the day he's just a cub. I'm just glad you're on my side on this."
"Nuka is a sweet boy," Nala said. "He deserves so much better than Zira and Scar. And now there's two more innocent cubs for Zira to abuse."
"I know," Simba said, shaking his head sadly. "But there's nothing that can be done."
"There must be something we can do for those poor cubs," Nala said. Just then she felt a kick from her unborn cub. "Hmm alright my darling I hear you," Nala said with a smile as she patted her slightly expanded belly.
"I think that's a sign that we need to focus on our own cub right now," Simba said as he nuzzled Nala. Then the King bent down so his head was right by Nala's belly. "Don't you worry little one. Mommy and Daddy will make sure you're the top priority around here. Isn't that right Mommy?" Simba looked up at Nala when he said this part.
"That's right," Nala said with a smile. "For now we focus on our child." With that the Royal Couple decided to take a walk and talk about the new Prince or Princess that was on the way.
TLKTLKTLK
The next day Simba awoke and to his surprise he saw Rafiki sitting in front of him. "What the..." Simba cried out, jerking his head up. "Rafiki! What the Hell are you trying to do? Scare me to death?"
"I did not mean to scare you," Rafiki said. "But der has been a development in yer Uncle's condition."
"What kind of development?" Simba asked as he stood and stretched, shaking out his red mane in the process.
"He has developed pneumonia," Rafiki informed the King. "It is treatable but yer moder insisted I run any treatments by you before I give dem. She said dat you may not want dem done."
"Rafiki," Simba said with a heavy sigh. "I've already told you I don't want Scar to die. So give him whatever medicine you need to. I'll have a talk with my mother."
"As you wish," Rafiki said with a smile as he grabbed his bag and went to give Scar the medication. Just then Sarabi came into the cave followed by Sarafina and Nala.
"Mother," Simba said. "Just the lioness I wanted to see."
"Is there something wrong Simba?" Sarabi asked.
"Mom I need you to stop interfering with Scar's treatments," Simba said. "If Rafiki needs to give him medicine then no one is to stop him from doing so."
"Simba I just thought that you might have come to your senses and changed your mind about letting Scar live," Sarabi said.
"Mom I've told you a million times I don't want Scar to die," Simba said, the irritation clear in his voice. "And I'm done explaining myself to you. I'm not going to change my mind about that. Understood?" Sarabi opened her mouth to protest but Sarafina nudged her tan coated friend and shook her head.
"Yes Simba I understand," Sarabi said, realizing it would be pointless to argue with her son.
"Good," Simba said. "Now then I..." But just then two loud cries echoed through the air followed by shouting. Then a loud roar echoed through the air followed by a loud smacking sound and the sounds of a cub crying out in pain.
"Uh oh sounds like Zira is beating poor Nuka again," Nala said, shaking her head sadly. Simba said nothing. He just continued to listen for any kind of sound from Nuka. But all he heard was deafening silence.
A/N well folks ch 5 is done. I hope you all have enjoyed it. Please review.
