A/N Hello boys and girls I'm back with a new chapter for you all! The usual thanks is in order. And Enjoy ch 10

Ch 10 More Confusion

Simba heard muffled voices all around him. The sounds of people calling his name and pleading with him to wake up. Simba let out a groan and tried to open his eyes. But his eye lids felt like they weighed a thousand pounds. "Simba please wake up," came Nala's emotion filled voice.

"Come darling open your eyes," came Sarabi's pleading voice.

"Yeah c'mon pal," came the worried voice of Timon. "Come back to us."

"Your children need you to wake up Simba," Nala was saying. "Please open your eyes." That did it for Simba and he let out another groan and slowly opened his eyes. After blinking for a few minutes Simba saw the worried faces of Nala, Sarabi, Sarafina, Timon and Pumbaa staring down at him.

"What," Simba croaked out. Then he swallowed and shut his eyes to better focus. "What happened?" Simba managed to get out.

"We were hoping you could tell us," Sarafina said. "You were found near the watering hole unconscious."

"The watering hole?" Simba repeated with confusion. "I...I don't remember going to the watering hole."

"Honey what's the last thing you remember?" Sarabi asked.

"I...I remember watching the sunrise," Simba said, closing his eyes in an effort to remember better. "And then I decided to get an early start on my rounds. But I wanted to check on Scar first. Then..." Simba trailed off as his memory began to get fuzzy.

"Then what Simba?" Nala asked gently.

"Then I...I don't remember," Simba said. "Everything is all fuzzy after that."

"Do you think Scar attacked you?" Sarabi asked.

"Mom don't be silly," Simba said. "Scar can barely hold his own head up let alone attack anyone. And even if he did manage to knock me out there's not way he'd be able to drag me down to the watering hole."

"I suppose you're right," Sarabi said with a sigh. "But its obvious that someone attacked you."

"We should let you rest buddy," Timon said, patting Simba's paw. "You've had a rough day."

"I'm sure you'll remember with rest," Pumbaa chimed in.

"Hold on a second," Sarabi objected. "I'm not..."

"Sarabi I really do think Simba needs his rest," Nala said.

"Yes of course you're right," Sarabi said, looking at her son, who had his eyes shut. "You get some rest darling," Sarabi said, nuzzling her son. "I love you."

"I love you too Mom," Simba said softly as he drifted back to sleep. Nala motioned for Sarabi to follow her while Sarafina stayed with the cubs. Timon and Pumbaa followed the Queen as they exited the cave.

After they were outside Nala turned to Sarabi. "We need to find out who attacked Simba," the creamy coated Queen said.

"Well we know it couldn't have been Zira or her followers," Sarabi said. "Someone would have seen them."

"Well its obvious that there's a traitor here," Timon said, crossing his arms. "And we're gonna find out who that traitor is a make 'em pay! Nobody hurts my boy and gets away with it!" It was unusual for Timon to get this worked up but when it came to Simba the meerkat was willing to do anything to protect him.

"And they will pay Timon," Nala said, anger creeping into her voice. "But we have to be smart about it. If the traitor knows we're on to them they might do something desperate. And we really don't want that to happen." Timon and Pumbaa nodded in agreement.

"Don't you worry Nala you can count on us," Pumbaa piped up.

"We'll have to discuss this later," Sarabi said, nodding towards the lionesses, who were coming back from the hunt. The others nodded and went about their separate ways before anyone could become suspicious.

While Nala, Sarabi, Timon and Pumbaa were having their conversation Simba was trying his best to get some rest. But the thoughts of what had happened to him kept going through his head. "I have to remember what happened," the golden King thought to himself. "Someone attacked me and they're still out there. They could attack Nala or my mother or my cubs. I won't let that happen. I'll die before I let that happen." Simba let out a low growl at this thought. A stab of pain went through his head and he winced despite his best efforts not to. "Damn headache," Simba grumbled. Just then he felt a tiny nose press against his side. Looking over Simba saw Kion there, looking at him with wide amber eyes. "Well hello there my little guy," Simba said with a slight laugh as he scooped Kion up and put his between his paw. "Guess you wanted to see me huh?" Simba asked, giving Kion's head a lick. Kion let out a tiny mew in response, causing Simba to chuckle. "I take that as a yes," Simba said. Kion let out a yawn and snuggled into Simba's chest and was promptly asleep. Simba smiled down at his son and looked over at Sarafina, who was smiling at the sight. Kopa and Kiara were sound asleep in her paws and Simba let out a sigh. "All that can wait," the King thought. "What matters right now is I'm alive and with my cubs. I'm just going to enjoy this moment and worry about everything else later." With that Simba wrapped his paws around Kion and layed his head down to get some sleep.

Meanwhile back in the Outlands the two lionesses had met up with Zira, Cala and Shida. "Well," Zira growled. "I'm waiting."

"Well I met up with Scar like we planned," the first lioness said.

"And?" Zira hissed.

"And," the lioness said, resisting the urge to roll her eyes at Zira. "He wants to enact a plan to be rid of Simba once and for all."

"And what is this plan?" Cala asked.

"Well I didn't get that far," the lioness said. "Simba came snooping around and almost caught me."

"But I took care of him," the second lioness said proudly. "I hit him hard in his head with a rock and knocked him out cold."

"Good," Zira said. "The brute deserves every bit of pain. You two have done well."

"Thank you my lady," the two lionesses said, dipping their heads to Zira.

"You two had better get back before anyone realizes you're gone," Shida said. The two lionesses nodded and began to head back to Pride Rock.

"Oh and one more thing," Zira called out. "If you two foul up and get caught you'll get no help from me. Understood?"

"Yes Zira," the lionesses said.

"We won't fail you," the first lioness said.

"Good," Zira said. "Now get out of my sight." With that the two lionesses were gone.

As the two lionesses were walking back to Pride Rock they were discussing their alliance. "I hope we're doing the right thing," the second lioness said with a sigh.

"Trust me sis we're doing the right thing," the first lioness said, giving her younger sister a reassuring nuzzle. "Simba is a weak coward. He has no business being King. He couldn't even keep his own cub safe."

"You have a point," the second lioness said. "But Scar is just so...creepy and mean. I don't think he should be King again. He nearly destroyed the Pride Lands."

"That won't happen again," the other lioness said. "He won't have the hyenas here making pigs of themselves. And yes I know Scar has his faults but Hell sis no one is perfect. But despite his flaws he never let anything happen to Nuka or anyone else in the Pride."

"But he's so old," the second lioness said. "And he's not as strong as he once was."

"He will be," her sister insisted. "And I thought we were past all this. Why are you bringing this up again?"

"I'm sorry sis," the other lioness said. "We are past this. I shouldn't have brought it up again. Can we just forget it?"

"I suppose we can," the first lioness said with a smile. "Now lets get back before someone suspects something." With that the two lionesses headed back to Pride Rock. Neither one of them was aware that someone had been hiding in the bushes and had heard the entire thing.
