Ch 11 A Startling Realization
"I've got to tell Mom and Dad what happened," Nuka cried out as he raced from his hiding spot to find Tama and Tojo. He soon found Tama, who was giving Asha a hunting lesson. "Mom!" Nuka cried out, running towards Tama. "Mom! Something bad is gonna happen!"
"My goodness Nuka slow down," Tama said, pulling her adoptive son close. "Now tell me what's going on."
"I was out playing," Nuka said. "And I heard someone coming so I hid just in case it was Zira."
"Was it Zira?" Asha asked, the worry clear in her voice.
"No it wasn't Zira," Nuka said, shaking his head. "It was two lionesses from King Simba's Pride. And they were saying all kinds of bad things about him."
"Like what dear?" Tama asked, not liking where this was going.
"Like how he's a weak coward," Nuka said, his voice coming out very soft. "And how he doesn't deserve to be King. And how Scar's gonna become King again once he's healed and how they're going to help him and Zira get rid of King Simba for good."
"That's terrible," Tama said with a gasp.
"What's terrible?" a voice asked. Tama looked and saw Tojo approaching his family.
"Dad I just heard something terrible!" Nuka cried out. Then the little brown cub explained to his father what he had heard.
"Those bitches!" Tojo growled, his light brown eyes flashing with anger. "Nuka do you know who these lioness are?"
"I can't remember their names," Nuka admitted. "But I'd know them if I saw them again."
"Tojo we have to tell Simba and Nala what we've learned," Tama said.
"Agreed," Tojo said with a nod. "Nuka would you be willing to tell Simba what you heard?"
"Sure I would," Nuka said, making sure he put as much confidence into his voice as he could.
"Even if it means going back to Pride Rock?" Tama asked.
"I'm not afraid of that Mom," Nuka declared waving his paw. "Zira was banished for trying to kill Prince Kopa. I kind of want to go back."
"Me too," Asha said. "I've really been missing my friends there."
"Then let us go," Tojo said with a smile. With that the family headed back to Pride Rock to inform Simba and Nala what they ha learned.

A little while later Tojo and his family had reached Pride Rock. "Tojo!" Nala cried out, running up to her friends and embracing them. "Tama! Its so good to see you!"
"Its good to see you too Nal'," Tama said with a smile.
"Hello Queen Nala," Nuka said softly.
"Hello Nuka," Nala said with a smile. "Hello Asha my goodness you both have grown so much in just a few weeks."
"Is Simba around?" Tojo asked. "We have something very important to talk to him about."
"Yes he's in the cave resting," Nala said. "He was attacked yesterday and he has a concussion."
"I bet it was those traitor lionesses that attacked him!" Nuka cried out, before he could stop himself.
"Nuka what are you talking about?" Nala asked.
"That's what we wanted to talk to Simba about," Tojo said.
"Well I'm sure he'd love to hear this," Nala said. "Come with me." With that the creamy Queen walked into the sick cave with Tojo and his family right behind her.

Once the group was inside they greeted Simba and they were gushing over the triplets. "Oh they are so cute!" Tama cooed, smiling down at the cubs.
"They're so little," Asha commented, peering down at the Princess and Princes.
"Yeah aren't they one month old?" Nuka asked, looking up at Simba and Nala. "Shouldn't they be up and walking some?"
"Well they were born early Nuka," Simba explained. "So they're going to be a bit behind developmentally."
"Oh," Nuka said softly. "That makes sense." After staring at the cubs for a few minutes Asha got bored and went to play with the other cubs. Once she was gone Nuka decided to tell Simba and Nala the reason he was there. "Um King Simba I need to tell you something," the seven month old cub said.
"What is it Nuka?" Simba asked.
"I..I heard something today that you need to hear," Nuka said, his voice coming out very soft.
"Nuka, we're family," Simba said with a smile. "You don't need to be afraid to tell me anything."
"Honey just tell him what you told me and your father," Tama said gently.
"I was playing today," Nuka said. "And I heard someone coming so I hid because I was afraid it was Zira and two lionesses came along and they weren't very nice lionesses."
"What do you mean Nuka?" Simba asked, not liking where this was going.
"They were talking bad about you King Simba," Nuka informed his cousin. "They were saying that you don't deserve to be King. That Scar should be King again because he's not a weak coward like you are. That they're willing to do whatever it takes to get rid of you once and for all."
"Nuka honey did you recognize these lionesses?" Nala asked.
"Yes Queen Nala I did," Nuka said with a nod. "They were two lionesses from this Pride."
"Which ones?" Simba asked.
"I...I don't remember their names," Nuka admitted, not making eye contact. "But I'd know them if I saw them again."
"And you're sure they're members of this Pride," Sarabi asked, coming onto the scene with Sarafina right behind her.
"Yes," Nuka said with a nod. "I'm a million percent sure of that. And I just bet they're the ones that attacked King Simba and hurt him!"
"Yes I'm inclined to agree with you on that," Simba said with a slight growl. "Nuka would you be willing to point them out once the lionesses return from the hunt?"
"Sure," Nuka said, after looking at Tama and Tojo who nodded in encouragement. "I can do that."
"Good," Simba said with a smile. "Would you mind watching the cubs Nuka? I need to talk to your parents for a bit."
"Sure," Nuka said, a big smile going across his muzzle. "I can watch them."
"We'll be right outside if you need us," Nala said, gently rubbing Nuka's head. With that the adults headed out of the cave to talk.

Once the group was outside Sarabi spoke up, "Simba are you sure you can trust Nuka alone with the cubs?"
"Mom don't start," Simba said, sounding irritated. "I'm still not feeling the best and I am in no mood."
"I was just looking out for my grandchildren," Sarabi said. "I don't want them getting hurt."
"Nuka wouldn't hurt the cubs Sarabi," Tojo snapped, glaring at the former Queen. "He's a sweet boy."
"He's also Scar and Zira's boy," Sarabi pointed out.
"Ugh must we have this argument again?!" Tama groaned, rolling her eyes. "Sarabi for the millionth time Nuka is nothing like Scar and Zira. And he's my and Tojo's boy now and we love him as much as we love Asha and like any good mother I won't tolerate anyone bad talking my boy. Understood?" Tama shot Sarabi a sharp look when she said this part.
"I'm sorry Tama and Tojo," Sarabi said. "I shouldn't have said anything. Please forgive me."
"Just don't let it happen again," Tojo said. "Now then lets get to the real reason we're out here."
"Yes we must figure out whose responsible for Simba's attack," Sarafina said.
"We will Mom," Nala said. "We just..." But before the Queen could continue suddenly they heard Nuka's frantic cry for his parents. Exchanging concerned and worried looks the adults ran back into the cave. When they got inside they were shocked at what they saw.
