It had been one of those college days where everything bothered you. If it already was bothering you, then it becomes ten times worse and ten times more aggravating to deal with. The irksome feeling in your gut as you walk through the hallways with a sour expression. It gets to the point of calling in sick for the rest of the day but Gwen wasn't like that as she pulled through.

She pulled through all the questions and remarks about the podcast which was the only thing everyone could talk about. Gwen, was already fed up with this as she just ignored anyone who asked. By the end of the day, everyone got the memo as they stopped asking. When Gwen thought she was finally having a break after school, it started raining and she received another call.

"You've got to me kidding me." Gwen mumbled as she answered the phone. "Hey Mum, what's up?"

Gwen could hear soft sobs and a croaky voice. "Hey Gwens," She started with a saddened expression. Her voice seemed as if she was about to break down into a bunch of tears. "C-could you come over? I'm calling Brody over since Tracey is... not with us anymore." Gwen's mother paused to take some deep breaths. Tracey was Gwen's mother's younger sister. You could visibly hear her sobs now and it was... loud. "Just come over because I need the two of you to come over. Please. And Ace can't come over. Family traditions and we can't have pets over during times like this."

"Alright. I'll be on my way soon." Gwen stated as she started speeding up her pace to head to her apartment as quickly as possible. "I'll come as soon as possible. Just take some deep breaths."

"Yeah, I know. Just... come as soon as possible." Gwen's mother, Rachael, stated. "Sorry if you're missing your school and activities for this, Honey. I just learnt about this news and we need to start the arrangements and all soon. Right now, I just want the two of you to come back for sometime."

Gwen winced her eyes to keep away the tears. "I'll be over soon, okay? I'll try to come over by today or else I'll be over by tomorrow morning. I love you." Gwen stated.

"I love you too. Stay safe. Bye Gwens." Rachael said.

"Bye Mum."

Straight after Gwen arrived home, she briskly started packing up her luggages. She didn't know how long she was going to be staying in her mother's house so she decided to pack for a week. She'd never done any of these funeral traditions so she just decided to pack black clothes and pyjamas. While she was packing, she had a feeling she was missing something.

Then, Gwen was greeted by her Ace licking Gwen's feet. That was when she realised what she was missing.

"Aw crap. I forgot about you." Gwen stated as she gave her dog a quick cuddle. "You're not allowed to come with me so I guess you'll have to go to the boarding kennel. Alright, I'll give Clyde a call and he'll take you." Gwen stated as she patted Ace's head. "You want a snack? C'mon, I'll get you something."

The reason why Ace couldn't go to Gwen's mother's house is because when someone apart of Gwen's family dies, they aren't allowed to keep pets over for the week as they do their traditions. Clyde is one of the workers at the boarding kennel who became close friends with Gwen and her dog, Ace. So normally Gwen easily trusts Clyde with her dog for a week or two... or however long it takes for a funeral.

"You're calling Canine Cabin. What's up?" The receptionist spoke. It was Clyde.

Gwen, who packing everything up forgot she was calling the kennel was caught off-guard when she heard the voice. "Hey Clyde, it's me, Gwen. I was wondering if I could just drop off Ace right now? It's urgent so I'll be having to drop Ace off right now."

"Huh? Oh ee-yup! I was just training a new trainee. You can bring Ace over right now." Clyde responded.

"Cool. Will send him over soon." Gwen stated.

"Can't wait. Later." Clyde stated.

After the call, Gwen finished packing her bag and packing a mini bag for Ace. She knew Ace had specific toys only he would play so she packed some of them in a small bag for Clyde to use for the dog. Once she finished packing, her and Ace headed over to the car as her first stop was the boarding kennel.

"Hello? Yeah, it's Gwendolyn Ingrid. So I have a family emergency so I won't be able to attend classes for a week or so. I just called to give you a heads up and..." Gwen explained as she entered the boarding kennel[1]without paying attention as Ace followed right behind her. "Yes, I understand it's very last minute but I only learnt about this today and I can't help what happens can I now..."

As Gwen was talking to her college counsellor, the receptionist walked up to her. He tapped on her shoulder to gain her attention. "Um... ma'am, are you here to drop or pick up your..." The guy stopped when Gwen finished her call and turned around.

"You!? What are you doing here, Duncan?" Gwen hissed. "Where's Clyde?"

"Well turns out I actually work here,Gwen." Duncan retorted, staring down at her. "You still holding out for that growth spurt? Don't think it's gonna be coming anytime sooner."

Gwen rolled her eyes. "Shut up! Just... do your job."

"Alright-ee then, Sweetheart. Now what are you here for?"

Gwen frowned at Duncan. She didn't expect to meet Duncan again so soon and now Duncan was going to look after her dog. "Don't call me Sweetheart. Now, stop playing jokes. Where's Clyde? I'm not trusting you with anything." She stated as she darted her eyes at Duncan. All he did was cross his arms.

"It's either me or nothing,Sweetheart." Duncan taunted as a grin grew on his face.

Gwen clenches her fists in anger as she took a deep . The nickname greatly irritated her. "Look, I'm in a rush right now so I'm asking nicely: Where is Clyde?" Gwen politely requested. Duncan cocked an eyebrow as he jokingly scoffed. Gwen was no use."Duncan, I'm serious." Gwen sternly spoke.

"What's your deal with me? Clyde's on his break." Duncan responded.

In that moment, a blonde guy with scruffy hair walked in next to Duncan. He noticed Gwen was there too. "Oh I see you met my new trainee. Meet Duncan." Clyde introduced as he patted Duncan's back. "He's a new recruit and he's pretty solid at his job." Clyde complimented. Duncan turned back to Gwen with a smug expression on his face. Gwen rolled her eyes at him as Clyde continued talking. "He'll be looking after Ace since I'm heading out now. Alright bye guys!" Clyde waved as he walked off.

"Would you like our premium package?" Duncan asked as he tried not letting out his snicker.

"Listen here, Duncan. No jokes. I'm so sick of this, alright? Let's just get this over with." Gwen furiously stated as she poked Duncan's chest. "And don't you dare lose the dog."

Duncan's face went from trying to hold in his laughter to nonchalant as he stared back at Gwen. "I'm guessing you want the basic package then. And I'm guessing you wouldn't be able to afford premium as a broke college student."

"Shut up!" Gwen groaned as she shoved the small pouch in Duncan's hands. "These are Ace's toys. He only plays with those toys and if you lose it, you'll be buying a new pair." Gwen instructed as she handed Duncan her card. "Also, Ace is allergic to dust mi-"

"I know what he's allergic to. I was the one who bought the dog for you, Gwen." Duncan interjected, looking down at the counter. He was getting ready to scan the card through the PIN pad. Once he finished, he handed Gwen the card back. "Anything else you'd like the add?"

Gwen scoffed at Duncan's remark. "Whatever. I have to go now. I'll pay once I come back." Gwen huffed as she walked off.

"Bye Sweetheart!"

"Stop that!" Gwen snapped before storming into her car.

Duncan chuckled at Gwen's annoyance as he looked back at the dog. "Guess it's just you and me Ace."

Oh and Gwen has an older brother, Mason but shortly after All Stars, he decided to leave the country so he's never going to be mentioned
