"We're here!" Charlie exclaimed as she was accompanied by Vaggie and the two were led by an elder lich similar to the ones who assisted the gatekeeper Ostiarius.
She took in the sight of the mansion beyond the metal fence where they would be meeting the governing overlords of the territory, and it genuinely impressed her, not by its size or lavishness. But by how 'basic' it seemed.
The mansion was large, with four floors judging by the windows and is quarter the size of the Pride Mansion, which is an accomplishment in and of itself with how big the home of the Morningstar family is. But whereas the domain of the hellish royals was coloured black, white and gold, and intricately designed outward appearance. The one before her was coloured purple and outlined with gold, and was much more simple in design, as if it was made with functionality in mind rather than opulence.
*Creeeak*
The metal gate opened after the undead guide motioned for the creepy undead knight look-alikes that guarded it to allow them in, and they stepped aside to allow for the elder lich and his charges to enter the property.
The group of three strolled in through the front yard that housed quite the large variety of unique hellish plants such as the yellow musk creepers from Wrath and the assassin vines from Greed. And there were some that even Charlie never saw before in any of the seven rings of hell, though from how some looked like - with some that seemed to be large carnivorous plants that looked as if they either ate living demons, or they were just the flower-like plant's ugly countenance. Though even so, the princess of hell isn't willing to get any closer to them and find out personally for herself.
As they finally reached the mansion, the elder lich opened the mansion door as he led the two inside, allowing the pair to look around the place.
The inside of the place was more extravagant in nature than what the outside would imply, though not too extreme either. Paintings of mythical landscapes and beasts donned the walls and some artifacts of perhaps historical importance ranging from vases to skulls of unnatural proportions to medieval weapons of an unnatural sheen and texture scattered around the halls on top of their stands covered with glass cases.
Soon, the trio headed towards a source of noise and commotion as they neared their destination, and upon closer inspection, Charlie and Vaggie found out it was caused by their friends from the hotel. Who were kept outside of a large mahogany doorway with golden engravings across it.
"Hmm? Duckie! You're here! And you too Mag- I mean, Vaggie!" Lucifer closed in on the pair as he gave them a tight hug before separating, the elder lich that guided the hellborn and the exiled angel left as he stood by his fellows who stood at guard at the pair of doors.
"Hey dad, anything happened while we were away?" Charlie asked as the fallen angel led them towards the group, who were busy talking about their experiences in the town.
"No, not much, though I should say that I found just the most marvelous bunch of ducks that will definitely be a great addition to my collection! Say, Char-Char, when we get back, can I-"
"Dad, I love you, but we're not going to decorate the entire hotel with duck themed wallpapers or put them in the halls and the residents rooms."
"Oh…" Lucifer sighed gloomily at the instant rejection as his arms flopped at his sides. Sometimes his daughter shows how much she's similar to Lilith with her defiant attitude and her unwillingness to compromise on anything or do them half-heartedly, though he can't ever say that those are bad traits to have.
As the group of three got closer, Husk gave the newly arrived pair a nod before taking a full swing from what seemed to be a bottle of alcohol as Angel and Cherri were busy retelling the others about what happened with them.
"And then Angie here thought it was a good idea to suggest to suck the man's dick to pay off for all that shit, in front of his wife! I've never seen someone get booted out of a store and their ass caught on fire from how much it rubbed on the asphalt as I did that time!" Cherri wheezed as she held onto the wall for support, Angel both laughing as well yet a hint of red dusted his fur covered head as he was reminded of his mistake back then.
As the couple rejoined the group in the midst of Cherri's wheezing and manic laughter, the double giant doors creaked open slowly as a trio of figures stepped out. And one of them was familiar in a sense to the group, and not in a good way.
Standing on the left and right sides of the central person, were two entities covered in a thick dark fog. They had breastplates of black and silver adorned, coupled with similarly coloured metal armor pieces that covered the entities's entire upper and lower limbs, and a pteruges below the breastplate. And where a face would have been seen, a large oversized hood covered the mysterious beings' heads with glowing blue-ish red eyes visible from beneath the hoods and a finishing touch of a large cloak of the same dark fabric the hood was made of.
The Hazbin group of demons felt a sudden chill as the stared at the two entities, as if getting any closer would spell death to those foolish enough to attempt to do so. Even Lucifer felt shivers crawling up his spine as he gazed at the fog covered assassin-like beings. But honestly, that's ridiculous, right? Surely despise how admittedly scary the two beings were, he could easily handle filthy sinnerssimple demons that decided to dress edgy, right? He is the King of Hell and the Sin of Pride after all!
Yet, the shock that covered the group washed away almost immediately as the final person among the newly arrived trio spoke up, in a haughty, snarky, and a very familiar voice.
One they couldn't forget even if they wanted to.
"Well, well, well, look what the dirty infernal cat dragged in! If it isn't the group of bastards who killed me and many of my girls!"
A demon of large proportions laughed loudly in a mocking tone, yet it didn't do anything to stop the wave of power washing over them from its might. The final and considerably large demon was one that seemed to be a mix of multiple beasts. He had a large oversized black coat which was covered with symbols of lightning and fires and surprisingly unflipped normal crosses on his torso pockets, with golden buttons hanging off of the coat a bit loosely as mere accessories than for an actual function.
Under the coat, was an equally large robe of a purple colour with golden outlines and intricate engravings, coupled with a pair of boots not too dissimilar from the ones worn by rock bands, complete with silver chains and rings hanging off of the footwear.
Behind the large demon, were a pair of large draconic black wings with clawed finger-like protrusions on each wing. And a living silver serpentine tail moving aimlessly from side to side as it regarded each member of the group with a hiss and a glare of its glowing yellow eyes.
And the head of the demon was what perturbed the group the most, because despite the change of colouration in the now silver hair that almost seemed like a lion's mane and goatee, and the pale skin that seemed to be covered in draconic scales and a bit of fur from what's visible from the demon's neck. The familiar facial structure, albeit more muscular and chiseled than before, the large horns that are now serrated and more jagged than before, and the very same golden hued eyes told them all who this person exactly was, even though the pupils of the demon were shaped like that of a goat's.
"ADAM!!!"
At that moment each of the group reached out to their respective weapons, causing them to materialize as Angel, Husk, and Cherri aimed at the man with their weapons of choice. And even Alastor and Nifty seemed content to step away and enjoy the show, Alastor's smile tensed a bit as his grip on his cane tightened ever so slightly, glaring at the man-turned-demon.
Lucifer, having picked up on his identity before the others, let his cane disappear in a torrent of flames as his wings erupted from his back. The fallen angel aimed a punch at the man, fury in his eyes as he glared at the filthy humancreature that dared to attempt to hurt his daughter in the past.
But before he could…
*Shhhink!*
Lucifer felt pain affecting his arms that were held back by something or someone along with an indescribable itch on his neck, it felt like his skin was on fire as a clawed hand wrapped his nape, and it hurt…
It hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hu-
"Oi, you two, as much as I would love to see Lucifuck get turned into a decayed disease ridden corpse, we don't want him dead… at least yet."
With Adam's words, Lucifer felt the pressure of the steel clawed hand relieve him, yet the pain infecting him still remained, even if it was only in a smaller amount in comparison to just a moment prior.
The fallen angel fell to his knees as his wings disappeared into his back once again, his vision was blurry for a bit as his regenerative ability began slowly healing his injuries neck, yet, even from his own blurry eyesight, he saw bits of golden blood dripping to his pants, with bits of what seemed like decayed skin falling off like crust.
Charlie rushed to her father as she patted his back with a hand as she gazed at him with concern before aiming her pitchfork held in her other hand at the now revealed former head exorcist Adam, a murderous glare in her eyes as she gritted her teeth, yet she couldn't help but feel wary about the other two companions of her enemy.
Lucifer is a seraphim, even if he's not as strong as an unfallen one, he's still one nonetheless, and his power gave him complete dominion over any would-be challengers to his reign over Pride or Hell at some point.
And yet, one of these two unknown beings easily hurt her father and gave him such a severe injury, and that wasn't even with the help of the elongated deformed daggers sheathed at the hips of these strangers.
Vaggie and everyone else came to the same conclusion as Charlie, regardless of how ignorant they are of the strength of the king of hell as a baseline for what occurred. Adam gave them trouble in the past and nearly defeated them had it not been for the help of the fallen seraphim, yet one of these two unknown entities siding with their enemy fell the angel with ease and if they were to assume that they would be capable of such based on Adam's words, would've killed him as well. It brought a shiver up their spines as they felt threatened by not one, but two of these strangers, assuming that they have the same strength, and a now rematerialised Adam.
"Alrighty, as much as I would love seeing you fuck-ups get scared shitless over what these death babes might've done, we should get down to business." Adam clapped his silver-gloved hands with a shit eating grin on his face as he gave them a look over before turning and opening the doors once again, beckoning the group to follow as he went through accompanied by the two assassins.
The group exchanged wary looks as they slowly lowered their weapons, looking in Charlie's direction as she bit her lip while looking at Adam's retreating back and wings. She gave her father another lookover as she his wound was nearly healing to completion, yet a faint scar seems to remain after that, something she didn't know was possible.
The fallen angel in question gave a small sigh of relief as the pain in his neck gradually disappeared and didn't bother him as much as before, and as he finally saw his daughter looking at him with concern and Adam along with those two… monsters, following him, he gave her a nod as he slowly stood up and began walking through the doors, with Charlie and the rest catching up to the trio. Their mouth shut as they glared at the former exorcist with vitriol.
"How the hell are you still alive?" Vaggie was the first to speak towards the man, who didn't stop, let alone turn back to look at her, as he replied.
"I didn't, dumbass, I died, duh. Why else would I be a demon now?" Adam mocked the former exorcist with a mocking tone, his hands folded behind his back as he walked through the corridor of rooms to what they all presume their destination in the mansion.
Lucifer gave a chuckle as he stretched his arms, giving the First Man turned sinner a grin. "Guess Father finally realized how much of a failure you were that he finally sent you down here where you deserve, huh?"
The fallen angel would've continued with his taunts had it not been for one of the assassin's at Adam's side giving him a glare from underneath the hood, which made him flinch almost imperceptibly as he tried to ignore the figure.
Adam snorted seeing how Lucifer was terrified by his two guards, but didn't say anything else as he just waved his hand dismissively in the king of hell's direction.
"Or maybe Dad sent me down here since you obviously can't even do one single fucking job properly and manage these shithead losers. I mean, you can't really look at our town here without telling me it's a hundred times better than the rest of your worthless ring. And we only did it in, what, three weeks? And you had ten fucking thousands years to do the same but didn't! Says a lot about which one of us is the loser here, doesn't it?"
Lucifer would've retorted back as he saw the shit eating grin on the man's face, yet before he could, Charlie spoke up instead with surprise and shock.
"'Your' town? Wait… are you… one of the two overlords in control of this place?!" Charlie exclaimed as she pieced up the clues she got about this place and its bosses.
Adam gave her a smug grin as he stopped and turned around for a second before patting her condescendingly. "Good job, kiddo! You finally realized something on your own that wasn't spoon fed to you by your twinky daddy and whore of a mommy! I would give you a lollipop, but I'm all out of them. Had to give them to the actually responsible brats out here instead of hoarding it for Hell's sheltered little princess. Next time, eh?"
Charlie felt her anger rise to the surface as Adam ruffled her hair for a bit before turning back and continuing to walk, and had it not been for Vaggie placing a hand on her shoulder supportively as she too glared at her former commander, she might've snapped and attacked the man.
"...Then why?"
"Hmm?" Adam raised an eyebrow as he gave her a small side glance.
"Why are you making a place to help sinners live peacefully even though you supported, no, led the exterminations?!"
"For one, why not?" Adam looked at her with genuine curiosity, which stumped Charlie for a bit.
"Because… you're…"
"Because I'm what? The big bad man in your little storybook fairytale written by your dear mommy and daddy? Because I led the exterminations to curb the uprisings that happened and any potential war instigated by the shitstains you call your citizens? I did what I had to do because it was both the only option remaining and because the opposite is to have those fuckers attack Heaven or Earth in full fucking capacity and harm everybody." Adam scoffed as he turned and gave her a heated glare before returning to walk briskly, the assassin's by his side the entire time.
Charlie stood still for a moment before a hand on her shoulder by Angel Dust and a look of concern from Husk made her continue walking, yet she bit her lower lip as she tried to think of something to say.
Curb uprisings? Her parents told her that Heaven only feared them happening, not that they already happened! And did he mean by 'no other options'? There's always an option, he was probably just lazy and took the easy way out of genociding her people! That's the type of man Adam is!
And yet, before Charlie could voice those statements of hers, to force her mother's bastard of an ex to reveal his true colours, Adam spoke up once more.
"And two, it wasn't my idea to get a territory like this for ourselves or set up a bunch of laws, I might have agreed to help with it, but the idea was entirely Skelly's."
His words dumbfounded everyone. 'Skelly'? Was that another fallen angel Adam knew, is it perhaps the other overlord in charge?
They didn't take long to think about this as Vaggie asked the man with some wariness and anger in her voice as she looked at the back of Adam's head.
"Who the hell is this 'Skelly'? Some unfortunate slave of yours? Or is it that other overlord that chose to side with you of all people?"
For some reason, Adam living serpentine tail began hissing loudly as it glared at Vaggie, making the woman flinch as she stool a step back as everybody stopped moving. Their hands now held their weapons once more as they prepared for conflict, while the assassins' postures shifty ever so slightly to indicate their preparedness for battle.
Adam turned around fully once more as he glared at Vaggie who partly hid herself behind Charlie while pointing her spear at him once more. With the princess of hell rematerializing her pitchfork as she glared at the man, her body slowly shifting into her full demon form.
Lucifer didn't make any hostile moves as of the moment as he grew wary of the assassin's guarding the wretchAdam. But even so, his hand twitched imperceptibly as he prepared to grab his daughter and teleport out of there should the situation turn ugly. Even if it means abandoning the rest of these demons his daughter calls as her so-called family.
Adam stepped slowly towards them as he glared his nostrils, his fangs slowly slipping into view as he snarled at his former subordinate.
"Fucking rich, ain't it? You talk about slaves as if you don't live under the same roof with that strawberry twink Bambi who as far as I remember, is one of hell's most notorious overlords in the current age. And I can see the invisible chains on that cat bird freak and that cycloptic little shit hanging off of that poor excuse of a radio host."
Alastor's smile stiffened ever so slightly as he glared at Adam, prepared to unleash a torrent of shadows in hopes of doing what he couldn't do the first time and out down this uncouth pathetic creature.
Adam stepped towards them once more as he adopted a mocking grin on his face, his eyes shifting to glare at both Charlie and Vaggie now.
"And that's not talking about Weapons Overlord bitch who you got your literal fuckton of weapons from to arm those cannibals for that fight, that bitch has as many soul contracts as the walking used tampon over there if not more, but you oh so willingly agreed to get into an alliance with her."
The First Man took another step towards them that he was now only a foot between him and the two.
"And speaking of cannibals, what about your literal army of cannibals you got from that cannibal bitch overlord? Even if she gave you the opportunity to convince them, she's still the overlord with control over their souls, and a friend of Bambi over there, and that's a fucking red flag all on it's own, pun bloody intended. But you still went ahead with that bullshit!"
Adam leaned slightly as his golden goat-like eyes stared deep into Vaggie's very soul, sweat building up on her forehead as she struggled to keep her fear of Ada… no, that thing, contained.
"So if you have the fucking audacity to try and call me a slaver despite knowing how much I hate it and damn well don't even condone it, I'll give you the same fucking treatment you gave to your own sisters and let you get eaten alive by those shitty cannibals, got it?"
Vaggie's response to Adam's threat was complete silence, yet her shaking hand as she tried to hold her spear properly and how Charlie stood as a barrier between her and Adam completely while glaring at the former angel turned sinner, told a very different story.
Adam scoffed as he turned back for a moment before freezing immediately, a surprised look on his face as he adopted a small smile.
"Oh right, before I forget…"
And before anybody could even react, a shockwave spread through the hallway, one with the seismic strength of an earthquake, which nearly caused everybody to fall on the floor. And when they reoriented themselves again, they found the reason for what happened.
Charlie was pushed towards Lucifer's arms as a pitch black obsidian halberd of titanic size with golden engravings and unknown runic symbols written across the blade cleaved through the floor besides Vaggie, a hair's breadth was between her and the smooth edge of the weapon's blade as it glowed and cackled with dark coloured lightning and flames dancing across it.
The exiled angel fell down as her legs gave out from beneath her, a small trail of golden blood dripped down her cheek as she stared wide eyed with shock and an unnatural paleness to her skin at the former head exorcist.
"If you as much as show the slightest bit of disrespect to my people like you do with everyone you meet, you miserable excuse of a soldier, I'll make Lucifuck's Fall look like kid's play compared to what I'll fucking do to you the next time you step out of line! GOT THAT?!"
Vaggie didn't respond to the man as she shook with primordial fear, her throat dry as she looked at Adam as if it was the very first time she saw him for who he truly was.
None uttered a sound as Adam continued glaring and growling at Vaggie with his serpentine tile hissing venomously at her. And soon enough, the man grabbed his halberd once again before letting it dematerialize into motes of light. He ran a hand across his white hair for a moment with a scoff before looking in the direction of the two undead that were lent to him, they haven't moved an inch since his burst of outrage, their arms crossed behind their backs as they waited for orders. And seeing that none of those stupid sinners were planning on giving him any reason to actually go through with it and put them all down for good, he sighed with disappointment before recontinuing his walk once again.
"Alecto, Tiche, let's go, we're already late because of these stupid fucks, and we're running on a tight schedule out here." At this, the undead pair briskly joined by his sides once again, none of the three waiting for the demons behind them.
Charlie quickly moved towards her girlfriend as she helped her up, her heart breaking into pieces as she saw the look of utter shock and fear on her face, she gave a quick glare towards the perpetrator who was casually walking away before looking at Vaggie and wiping away the blood from her cheek with a napkin she materialized using magic.
Alastor and by extension Nifty kept their distance from the pair, an amused yet strained smile on the overlord's face as he saw the new expression on the former exorcist's face while his mind replayed the fight between him and Adam back then. He at first thought that the sloppy fool just won by stroke of luck. Yet, he couldn't even see the man move or stile his weapon on the ground until he already did it. The speed he showed was beyond anything he ever saw, and the strength he displayed was fearsome, something he never saw in any overlord he fought in the past, or in her.
And it scared him witless.
Husk, Angel, and Cherri were no different. They felt goosebumps running across their skins as they witnessed the terrifying visage of their former angelic enemy, the man was never this terrifying when they fought him in the past. Though then again, they never fought him directly before, the only time they ever got close to him was when Charlie and Lucifer defeated him. Yet now, they didn't know if the Adam before them was stronger or weaker than before, but they were grateful nonetheless that they didn't have to face him personally.
Lucifer was shocked, both by what he saw and heard. He will be the first to admit, that the Adam he fought at his daughter's hotel was much weaker than the one he met when he died and ascended to Heaven. And his power, despite how pathetic it was compared to a seraphim like himself, was quite impressive, so when he saw that Adam grew weaker through the tens of hundreds of millennia after his death, he was disappointed and pleased.
Yet now, he was shocked, for whatever reason, his undeservedpower returned, despite having fallen and becoming a sinner like the rest, which confused him, how was it even possible? Adam is the farthest he has ever been from Father, the holiness he had both as an angel and even as a human, regardless of how miniscule it was back then, has vanished completely. So how could a filthyman like him regain this?
Lucifer bit her lip as he looked with abject anger at the man's back, he wanted to finally finish the job and kill the man, to finally rid creation of its greatest stain.
But unfortunately, unlike Adam, he has morals and priorities, and they include his daughter, and if he knows her well, regardless of what occurred now, she'd still want to meet with Adam and whoever was stupid enough to ally with him.
And so, seeing how Charlie lifted her girlfriend on her feet slowly, Lucifer went to Maggie's other side and helped balance her on her feet as they began walking once more.
But as this all went down, one thought gnawed on his mind throughout the entire silence permeating the group.
Honestly, why is this corridor so bloody long?! And how many doors are there?!
Omake: Never let a skeleton play poker. (Omake Idea by Deagon_God, thanks a lot!)
"So… why did you choose this place again, Adam?" Though his skull could show no expression, Ainz's confusion was quite visible in his voice, his head tilting as he looked at the opulent casino in front him.
"To get funds, duh! The quickest way to get money in Hell is either to steal from any poor fuck out here, or to get it from a casino. And there ain't no 'honest' job out here that would give us enough money to help fund the building of the town!" Adam stood in front of Ainz as he pointed at the casino at the back, the neon light illuminated name of the establishment, 'Fortune's End', glowed with a purple hue against the black and gold design of the building. And from what Ainz remembers from the reports his undead summons told him, it is one of the most reputable casinos in Pentagram City, and most of its clientele are of the upper crust of the hellborn or sinner populations…
Though it didn't matter much to Ainz when every now and then a sinner or even a hellborn were jumping off the roof of the building. With crowds on top of the hotel watching these people get thrown down, meaning it was intentional and purposefully done.
'Haahh… This is just like my Earth, I don't know if I should feel nostalgic or angry seeing all this go down in front of me.' Ainz looked at Adam once more as the man in question was waiting smugly for Ainz to supposedly agree with his 'brilliant idea'.
"Adam, my friend, are you sure we can even earn much here? Aren't casinos places where you can either win or lose ludicrous sums of money? Wouldn't it be possible that we would lose the funds we already accrued instead?" Ainz tried to get his point across about how bad of an idea this all is. There was another option Ainz could use, but it would mean to use his Yggdrasil gold here in hell, which would attract the wrong sorts of folk, besides, just because he found himself alone at the in Hell in his Yggdrasil Avatar, doesn't mean other Players don't, and if they do and still hold grudges against him and his guild, they'd definitely attack him on sight or stab him in the back, which he doesn't intend to allow to happen, at least, until they could officially appear in the limelight after they properly secure their territory and base of operations.
Adam made a small 'pssh' sound with his mouth as he moved his hand dismissively of Ainz's worries. "Don't worry, Bones! You have me with you! We can just play Poker all the time inside, I'm the best at it, and I can guarantee your skeletal ass that I would make us both walk out of this shithole twice as rich!"
Ainz sighed as he crossed his arms, sometimes, Adam's confidence could be infuriating, but he couldn't deny that it reminded him fondly of his comrades in the guild, which helped ease his mind a bit.
"Fine, I trust you on this. However, there are two conditions. One, we will not bet any large sum that could jeopardize the funds we already have. And two, should we lose even once while inside, we will leave immediately, understood?" Ainz's tone made it clear that he would accept no compromise or plead, and Adam only groaned and scoffed while rolling his eyes at the undead.
"Fine, mom, I understand. Now can we go in already? We're burning daylight here! Or whatever the equivalent of it in this fucked up place."
Ainz sighed softly as he moved aside to let Adam take lead inside as the undead was quite the novice on what should be done in environments such as this, which the First Man happily did as he strolled right in with the Overlord following him, the progenitors turned demon casually talking with the clerk while presenting a suitable sum of money in exchange for chips.
Ainz sighed, though he couldn't really complain considering the situation. Besides, what's the worst that could happen here? They're already in hell, and you can't go much lower than that.
"What the fuck is with these two monsters?! How could someone win so damn much?!" A sinner whispered to another as he and a considerably large crowd watched with shock and disbelief as they saw the poker table in front of them.
The sight was quite normal all things considered, with an imp dealer managing the table, and an assortment of hellborns and sinners of different shapes and forms as the players.
But that's where the normality ends.
Because sitting on opposite sides, a skeletal sinner demon of a fearsome visage clothed in academic purple robes, and a sinner that bears a frightening similarity to what the older Head Exorcist looks like, but a more demonic version of the deceased angel, had a large stash of chips that nearly hid the players from view with how tall they were.
The dealer in question was sweating bullets as he saw the large amount of winnings of the two sinners, and wanted to immediately go and report to his boss, but fearing for his life, he hoped that his fellow co-workers, assholes as they are, would throw him a bone and go report on his behalf instead.
Meanwhile the other players on the table with Adam and Ainz were slowly leaving one by one as they grumbled about their losses, their anger palpable in their body languages yet none dared to actually try and attack either of the two both out of fear of the overlord managing this casino, and of the pair in question, who look like they'd carve their skulls as trophies if given the opportunity.
"Adam, how about we leave for now? We have amassed quite the sum today, enough for our purposes." Ainz said as he saw the large crowd gathering around the table, and the fearful look on the impossible dealer's face. By now, even if either of them were to lose to the other in the game, they wouldn't be winning or losing more at all considering that they're both together in this.
Adam shook his head as a feral grin and fierce glare found their way on his face. "Nah, I have a better idea, let's play again!"
Ainz sighed as he looked at the large mountain of chips that belonged to him on the table.
"And why exactly? What do you have to gain from continuing this?"
Adam scoffed as if the undead said something offensive. "To win, fucking obviously! Skelly, I played poker for longer than you ever did, but somehow you have more chips than me! It's bullshit and I refuse to accept it!"
Ainz felt his nonexistent brain short-circuit for a moment as he saw Adam's determined expression, and it clicked in his mind as he felt a ghost smile itch itself to his skull.
"...Adam, are you… jealous?" Ainz nearly felt his {Emotional Suppressor} trigger as he almost doubled down in laughter, yet fortunately he didn't and spared Adam the humiliation.
The First Man turned demon scoffed as he waved his dismissively. "Hah! As if! Don't kid yourself, Bones!"
Ainz chuckled for a bit at the instant response before humming in thought. "Even if I were to agree, I don't think this casino here allows for two player poker." The undead sinner commented as he looked at the fearful imp dealer, who seemed as if he would get blown away by the slightest wind.
Adam scratched his coat for a moment before his expression brightened, an idea forming in his mind. "I know! How about you bring out some of those summons of yours! I know they can think for themselves, so they should be able to play, right?"
Ainz slowly nodded as he agreed, his summons are capable of thinking for themselves and acting out based on his orders as they see fit to accomplish them. And besides, a side benefit of this perhaps would be that he would be able to test how deep do their cognitive abilities go as far as lesser undead are concerned.
And so, with a flick of his finger he casted a spell.
[Silent Magic: Triplet Magic: Summon Low Tier Undead: Skeleton Mages]
Within an instant, three skeletons in tattered brown robes appeared from within the dark mist formed by Ainz's hand. The three skeletons bowed reverentially to Ainz for a moment before sitting in the seats of the former players, courtesy of their connection to the Overlord giving them immediate information of what their orders are.
The undead then gave humble sums of gambling chips to each of the skeletons as Adam nodded in approval, looking at the freaked out dealer so that they could begin.
'Satan save me…' The poor imp wept internally as he attempted to hide his growing fear of these sinn… no, these monsters.
But the growing puddle of sweat forming on his red coloured skin showed otherwise.
"This is bullshit!" Adam nearly flipped the table for the nth time in a row as he lost once more. His giant mountain of earnings slowed turned into a small ant hill due to the efforts of the four undead skeletal beings sitting across the table.
"Would you like to stop playing? I don't think this could be reversed, my friend." Ainz tried once more to call off the game to stop the former exorcist's growing rage, but alas, to no avail.
"You fucking kidding me?! Hell no! I'm playing to win! And I won't stop till I come out on top!" Adam shook his fist in Ainz's direction as if to accentuate his point, to which the Overlord only sighed as his own anger began to surface.
'Honestly! We've been here for like what… six or seven hours? It's too much now! …Was this how Buku and Pero felt whenever I got into a fit of mania while doing the gacha roles?' As Ainz was internally recounting the times he went a bit mad in the past, Adam had a savage grin on his face as he threw down his cards.
"Four of a kind! You lost Skelly!" Adam laughed rambunctiously as he displayed his hand.
Ainz only looked slowly at Adam's cards before looking at his, and with a sigh made as he prepared for what's to come, he placed down his own cards.
A Royal Flush.

"...MOTHERFU-!"
A serpentine overlord, with poker motifs strewn all across his body's length in black and red in contrast to his red and white scales, held to his office table tightly as another earthquake shook the casino.
"What the hell isss going on?!" The overlord hissed as he looked at his subordinates for an answer, who were all just as confused and shocked as him, but terrified as well.
Earthquakes, or rather hellquakes, rarely happen in hell, and when they do, even more rare does it get severe. But to have multiple of them happening in less than a day, it terrified all the sinners inside.
Suddenly, another sinner in the apparel of a guard opened the doors as he looked for the overlord frantically for aid.
"Boss! You gotta help us!"
The serpent tilted his head as his multitude of eyes glared with both anger and confusion at the man's panic, the fools know full well to never disturb him for any pathetic reason like this. But to forgo this and still ask him for help? Either he's suicidal or something worth noting has happened.
"Why the fuck are you shaking like a leaf, ugh, jussst tell me what's going on?!"
The sinner nodded as he wiped his sweat with a napkin before answering. "There's two customers down there who've been winning a shitton amount of chips in poker, we wanted to get them to leave after they forced everybody else to give up with how much they kept winning, but suddenly, one of the two, the skeleton dude, summoned more skeletons and they started playing again! And then whenever the Skelly guy and his kids or subordinates or whatever the fuck those are, the other demon, who looks like a chimera or some shit with dragon wings and a living snake tail, he would thrash the casino on rage before continuing! Please, boss! We tried to stop them, but three of us already died and I don't know when they're gonna come back!"
The overlord looked at his subordinate with confusion for a moment as the pieces of the puzzle clicked together in his mind.
'A skeleton and a demon with wings and a serpent tail? Ahhh, so he's talking about those two fucking upstarts, Atan and Ais or whatever. So those two brats had the audacity to try and mess with me of all people?! Oh that's fucking it!!!'
The overlord hissed venomously once more as he materialized a machine gun and shoved his subordinate out of the way. The rest brought out their own weapons as they followed the snake demon.
'I'll show those two brats who they're messing with!'
"You alright, Adam?" Ainz strolled near the man who just destroyed another roulette table, the sinner's serpent tail was thrashing wildly with frustration as a secondary response.
The man sighed for a moment before running a hand through his white hair, taking a few deep breaths before speaking.
"Yeah, yeah… Let's just go, I think we got enough shit for today."
Ainz nodded for a moment as he ordered his skeleton summons to collect the chips the two of them accrued, and when they intend to go cash them out, the large doorway that connected the hall they were in to the other part of the building opened wide, the other customers and employees were murmuring with shock as a tall cobra-like sinner with red and white scales and black and red card motifs ran across its body.
And if the two had to guess, it's probably the owner of this casino.
"So you are the two bastardssss who were messing up my essstablishment!!!" The snake hissed as he aimed his machine gun at the pair.
Adam almost immediately extended his hand to materialize his new halberd, but Ainz stopped the former angel as he walked in front of him to try and placate the situation.
"Indeed, it was a mistake made from wrath and rashness, and as such, I apologize for the both of us, good sir. And we are prepared to pay for the damages we have caused here."
The serpent demon looked thoughtful for a moment as he cradled his chin.
"I see, well that changes things…"
Ainz nodded in a pleased manner as the casino owner seemed to consider his offer and asked the man once again. "Indeed, so based on your estimations, sir, how much do you suppose we owe you? Should it require more than what we have on hand, we are willing to use the earnings we had here today along with more back home should it require it."
Adam wanted to protest at that moment, but the internal flames in Ainz's eye sockets growing large with anger made the man clamp his mouth shut, giving the serpent demon time to think.
"Well that'ssss good, but you don't have to worry at all. What you have right now would be more than enough!"
Ainz nodded appreciatively as he extended his hand to shake the sinner's hand. "Then how much does it all cost?"
The sinner made a faux gesture of agreeing as he looked the undead in the eyes. "This all costs approximately…"
And right before he continues, he threw a grenade he hid in his sleeve in Ainz's direction before backing away quickly, letting the bomb explode in Ainz and Adam's faces as he rearmed his machine gun.
"Your lives! FIRE!!"
At the overlord's commands, all the sinners fired at the pair amidst the heat from the bomb, the customers and weaker employees running away from the scene to not get caught in the crossfire.
A few more moments were spent as the overlord and his lackeys kept firing at Ainz and Adam's location, only stopping to reload.
Once they all ran out of bullets, they waited for the smoke and fire to dissipate so they could collect the corpses to make them an example for others.
Yet what they found was contrary to all their expectations.
"I should've known that they wouldn't accept a peaceful resolution." The definitely not-dead undead sighed disappointingly as he looked at the serpent demon and his lackeys, a barrier of sorts guarding both him and Adam as they looked at the demons.
"I told you, but you didn't listen, of course they wouldn't accept doing this the easy way." Adam shook his head disappointedly as he gave Ainz a 'told you so' look.
"Do you mean like how you listened to me when I told you to not cause a ruckus?" Ainz tilted his head as he gave Adam a pointed glare, or as much as he could with a skull for a head.
"Touche."
The overlord stammered as he looked at the two who were unharmed and unfazed by the hail of bullets, angelic bullets, and kept talking with another as if they weren't in lethal danger at all.
But before he could even reply, the skeleton looked at him with his flaming red eyes, which caused the overlord to involuntarily flinch.
"It's a shame that you chose to attack, but I do understand why you did it, and I shall give you more painless death in comparison to all the other fools who chose to attack us."
The serpent's eyes widened as he dropped his machine gun in a panic. "W-wait a moment, good sir! You said that you understand why I did what I did, n-no?! P-please, you can just go and leave with your earnings! And no compensation is needed at all! You can even-!"
The demon all of a sudden felt as if his heart was squeezed by a crushing force, he couldn't breath, or even focus beyond the unimaginable pain he was under, and looking at the undead demon in front of him, told him why.
In his skeletal hand, was a heart, that kept beating in his rhythm and rate, that was slowly getting crushed by the pressure caused by the skeleton's sharp appendages.
"P-please, merc- akh!"
And just as he had his final thoughts, his eyes popped out of their sockets and blood spewed from them and his mouth as he fell face first. As Ainz has finally crushed the heart in his hand completely, the only evidence of it ever existing was the red blood dripping down his hand before it disappeared completely.
And just like that, Meyer Lansky, a dangerous man in both Earth and Hell, fell like a puppet whose strings have been cut, unimportant and irrelevant.
"Well, this was fucking anticlimactic." Adam said in a deadpan tone as he looked at the serpent corpse in front of him. He expected more of a fight from whoever this bastard was, but he should've known to keep his expectations low when fighting with sinners, they never proved to be any good in a fight, both when he was an exorcist and as a demon like them.
"I have to agree, I heard that this man was an overlord, the top of the hierarchy, and yet, he was quite…"
"Stupid, cowardly, a slithery bitch?"
"...Disappointing. I had hoped that he would at least survive a spell like [Grasp Heart], but he died quite quickly."
Adam sighed while patting Ainz's back comfortingly, and after a few seconds, he glared at the employees of the now deceased overlord.
"Alright you fucks, I'll make it clear and simple, you either surrender or we will-"
Adam didn't have to continue before they all threw down their weapons and raised their hands in the air as a sign of surrendering.
The pair exchanged looks as they looked at the surrendering demons in front of them, to which Adam laughed wildly afterwards as Ainz gave a small chuckle.
The two of them entered the casino with the goal of earning money for the future of their newly claimed territory, and they did, with the added bonus of claiming one of the biggest casinos in Pentagram City for themselves.
But neither can deny that they enjoyed this unexpected twist of fate.
