The group are on their recently upgraded Rotom Bikes close to the edge of the water.
"You really think these Rotom Bikes can travel on water now?" asked Leni.
"Well, there's only one way to find out." replied Lincoln. Taking a deep breath, Lincoln begins riding towards the water until he found himself on top of it and the wheels on his Rotom Bike were inflated.
"Cool." replied Lana. She and the rest of the group rode their Rotom Bikes onto the water.
"This is so amazing!" said Clyde as he and the rest of the group continued riding around on the water.
"Come on, everyone; to Spikemuth!" said Lincoln.
"Yeah!" everyone else cheered in response.
They all continue south through the cold waters that had large chunks of ice floating around all over.
"Let's try and be careful." said Luna. As they continued riding across the water, Lincoln sees what appeared to be a karate black belt on a chunk of ice.
"Hey; that's a Black Belt." said Lincoln. "Those increase the fighting type moves of the Pokemon holding it." He rides to the chunk of ice the Black Belt was on and grabs its.
"What are you going to do with that?" asked Lucy from beside Lincoln, scaring him, almost making him fall of his bike, but he grabbed the handlebars of his Rotom Bike.
"I'm going to give it to Lucario." said Lincoln. He looks around the area until he saw some land with tall grass on it. "Let's go there; I can give the Black Belt to Lucario there." He and the rest of the group rode their Rotom Bikes to the land until they were on it. Lincoln lets out his Lucario; he gives him the Black Belt.
"Hey, a Pokemon." said Sam. Everyone looks to see what appeared to be a chunk of ice with four, stubby white legs, walking around. Sam takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Bergmite, the Ice Chunk Pokemon. This Pokémon lives in areas of frigid cold. It secures itself to the back of an Avalugg by freezing its feet in place." said Sam's Rotom Phone. Sam takes out a pokeball.
"I'm catching this one; Stunfisk, go!" said Sam, throwing Stunfisk's pokeball and releasing her. "Okay, Stunfisk, use Metal Claw!" Stunfisk leaps at Bermite while one of her fins turns to steel and slashes Bergmite with it, dealing super effective damage. The Bergmite releases a strong wind with sparkling snow from its body and it hits Stunfisk, damaging her.
"Stunfisk, use Mud Shot!" said Sam. Stunfisk fires a glob of mud out of her mouth and it hits Bergmite, damaging it. Bergmite leaps at Stunfisk while opening its mouth, revealing ice covered fangs and bites Stunfisk, damaging her.
"Water Gun, Stunfisk!" said Sam. Stunfisk fires a stream of water out of her mouth and it hits Bergmite, damaging it, and knocking it to the ground. Sam pulls out an empty pokeball and throws it at Bergmite, hitting it, and sucking it in; it wiggled around until it clicked. "Radical; I caught Bergmite." Bergmite's pokeball vanishes and is transported to storage. Sam looks up Bergmite's information on her Rotom Phone.
"Okay; my Bergmite's a dude, he knows Rapid Spin, Harden, Tackle, Powder Snow, Curse, Icy Wind, Protect, Avalanche, Bite, Ice Fang, Iron Defense, Recover, Crunch, Take Down, and Blizzard." said Sam. "He has the Ice Body ability which recovers some of his health during hailstorms."
"What's that Pokemon?" asked Lucy from behind Sam, scaring her. Everyone looks to see a Pokemon that looked like an anchor and a ship's wheel with an eye on it, wrapped in seaweed floating out of the grass. Lucy points her Rotom Phone at it.
"Dhelmise, the Sea Creeper Pokemon. After lowering its anchor, it waits for its prey. It catches large Wailord and drains their life-force." said Lucy's Rotom Phone.
"Wicked; I'm catching this Pokemon." said Lucy, pulling out a pokeball. "Trevenant, go." She tosses Trevenant's pokeball and releases her. "Trevenant, Shadow Claw." Trevenant leaps at Dhelmise while dark energy surrounds her right arm and she claws Dhelmise, dealing super effective damage. Dhelmise floats up into the air while a silver aura surrounds its body; it comes down and crashes onto Trevenant.
"Trevenant, Phantom Force." said Lucy. A purple portal appears on the ground near Trevenant; she jumps into it and it disappears. As Dhelmise was looking around, another portal appears near it; Trevenant jumps out of it and punches Dhelmise, dealing super effective damage. A green stream of energy comes out of Dhelmise's anchor and it wraps around Trevenant, draining only a little of her stamina and healing some of Dhelmise's wounds.
"Trevenant, Will-O-Wisp." said Lucy. Trevenant becomes surrounded by blue fireballs; Trevenant launches them at Dhelmise and they hit it; fire surrounds Dhelmise's body.
"Dhelmise is burned." said Lincoln. Dhelmise floats at Trevenant and makes a scary face at her, making her stumble back and fall to the ground, receiving super effective damage. Dhelmise flinches in pain from its burn.
"Trevenant, Hex." said Lucy. Trevenant forms a ball of black energy with a red eye in the center of it above her; blue energy rings fire out of the eye and they hit Dhelmise, dealing massive damage to it, and it falls to the ground. Lucy takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Dhelmise, hitting it, and sucking it in; it wiggled around until it clicked.
"Good work, Lucy." said Lana. Dhelmise's pokeball vanishes and is transported to storage. Lucy looks up her new Dhelmise's information on her Rotom Phone.
"This says my Dhelmise has no gender, it knows Absorb, Rapid Spin, Astonish, Wrap, Mega Drain, Growth, Gyro Ball, Switcheroo, Giga Drain, Whirlpool, and Heavy Slam." said Lucy. "It has the Steelworker ability which powers up its steel type moves." After Lucy returns Trevenant to her pokeball, everyone climbed back onto their Rotom Bikes and continued riding down the river until they finally reached the end of it; they ride off and their bike tires return to normal.
"We should be almost to Spikemuth." said Lincoln as he looks at his Rotom Phone's map.
"Looks like it's about a quarter mile until we get there." said Clyde.
"Yeah, but I don't see a stadium." said Lola.
"You'd think we would see one from here if Spikemuth is so close." said Lucy.
The group then starts to walk their bikes up a hill until they get to the top where they see several other Gym Challengers standing outside the gate of a walled city.
"What's this place?" asked Lincoln. He looks at the map on his Rotom Phone and sees that Spikemuth was in the exact spot that was in front of them.
"Is this Spikemuth?" asked Luna.
"Not much to look at." said Lola.
"I like it." said Lana.
"How do we get in?" asked Clyde.
"They won't open the gate." said a person who heard Clyde's question.
"We can't challenge the dark type Gym Leader like this." said a Gym Challenger.
"Let us in!" shouted another Gym Challenger.
"There's gotta be a way inside." said Lincoln.
"Lincoln." a voice that Lincoln recognized calls out to him from nearby; he and the rest of the group look to see Marnie standing near some crates with several Team Yell members.
"Hi, Marnie." said Leni.
"Quiet." said Marnie. "Come over here."
"What do you think she wants?" asked Lana.
"Maybe to spend more time with Linky." suggested Lola, making Lincoln blush.
"Let's go see." said Luna with a grin as she pushes Lincoln over to where Marnie and her groupies were with the others following after them.
They soon reach the spot where Lincoln and Marnie look at each other with blushes on their faces.
"It's... uh... been a while, Lincoln." said Marnie as she gives Lincoln a small smile.
"Yeah." said Lincoln as he blushes.
"How have you been?" asked Marnie.
"We all got our sixth badges yesterday." said Lincoln.
"That's great." said Marnie. "I better keep a closer eye on you and your friends."
"I'll bet you'll be more focused on Lincoln." said Lola with a grin, making Marnie and Lincoln blush.
"Most likely." said Marnie.
"Better watch out." said Luna. "There's another girl who wants Lincoln also."
"What?!" Marnie shouted, surprising everyone.
"Her name's Gloria." said Lucy. "We met her in Ballonlea a couple days ago."
"She kissed Lincoln." said Lola.
"On the LIPS!" said Lana. Marnie growls in response before she grabs Lincoln's face and presses her lips against his, making his face turn red.
"Yeah!" shouted a female Team Yell member.
"Lincoln is Marnie's!" said a male Team Yell member.
Meanwhile, on the Isle of Armor in the Forest of Focus; Gloria was gathering Max Mushrooms before she felt a surge of anger go through her.
"What's wrong with me?" asked Gloria. "Another girl better not be going after my white-haired cutie!"
Back outside Spikemuth, Marnie was continuing to kiss Lincoln while his sisters watched and giggled, and Ronnie Anne was glaring angrily with her teeth clenched.
"If you see that Gloria girl again, tell her to back off Marnie's man!" said another male Team Yell member. A minute later, Marnie finally breaks the kiss, leaving Lincoln in a stunned state.
"So, what are you doing here, Marnie?" asked Lana.
"This is my hometown." said Marnie.
"Really?" asked Luna.
"Yeah." said Marnie.
"Why is the gate closed?" asked Sam.
"I want to know that myself." said Marnie. "There's another way into the city."
"Where?" asked Clyde.
"Before I show you; I want to challenge one of you to a Pokemon battle." said Marnie.
"Sure." said Leni.
"Who's gonna do it?" asked Luna.
"I don't think Lincoln's in any condition to do it right now." said Leni with a giggle as she points at Lincoln who was sitting on the ground with a blank expression and red face.
"I'll battle you!" said Ronnie Anne.
"Sure." said Marnie. "You and your friends got a good winning streak going on in the Gym Challenge."
"Watch out for Ronnie Anne." said Clyde.
"Is she a strong trainer?" asked Marnie.
"That, and she likes Lincoln, too." said Lola, making Marnie frown, and Ronnie Anne blush.
"N-No I don't." said Ronnie Anne.
"You better not; he's mine." said Marnie. Everyone spreads out to give the two girls some room to battle.
It's Ronnie Anne vs. Marnie. Who will win? Wait and find out.
