Weeks after his battle with Sachiel, Quest Strother and the newly upgraded Godslayer 2.0 were back in action.
The Angel Sahaquiel had appeared, hovering ominously in space. Its size and shape were massive, with vast wings stretched out as it prepared to launch an apocalyptic strike on Earth. NERV's commanders watched in silent horror from their headquarters. The Evangelions were grounded—there was nothing they could do, no way for them to reach an enemy in space.
"None of the Evas can fight in space," Misato muttered, her eyes glued to the screen. "We're completely helpless."
Gendo sat back in his chair, hands steepled as he observed the situation. His eyes, however, shifted toward a different monitor, where a single signal was rapidly approaching the battlefield.
"He's here," Gendo said quietly, his voice betraying no emotion.
Far below, on Earth's surface, the Godslayer 2.0 stood ready. It was a sight to behold, a towering behemoth of futuristic design, miles ahead of its predecessor. Sleeker, more advanced, with angular features and cutting-edge technology integrated into every inch of its frame, it looked like a weapon pulled from the farthest reaches of a distant future. Red accents gleamed across its dark, metallic body, pulsing with energy. The most noticeable addition was a massive, retractable laser cannon, its structure lined with glowing red lights, ready to fire.
Quest sat in the cockpit, calm and focused. The enhanced HUD display tracked the Angel's position with pinpoint accuracy, despite the vast distance. He had one shot, and he was going to make it count.
The laser cannon extended from the Godslayer's back, its components shifting with mechanical precision as it emerged. The sleek barrel, sharp edges, and angular components gave it an aggressive, deadly look. The cannon hummed with power as red energy began to gather at its core, the air around it vibrating with raw destructive potential.
"Target locked," Quest muttered, his voice cold and calculated.
From NERV HQ, everyone watched in awe and disbelief as the Godslayer took aim from the ground. The Angel hovered miles above the planet, far out of reach for any conventional weaponry—but this was anything but conventional.
Without hesitation, Quest fired.
A blinding beam of red energy shot from the Godslayer, cutting through the atmosphere with unimaginable speed. The beam was so fast that it seemed like a flash of light—there one second, gone the next. It pierced the heavens, hurtling toward Sahaquiel with unerring accuracy.
For a split second, the Angel seemed to register the incoming attack, but there was no time to react. The red beam struck it dead center, slicing through its AT Field as if it weren't even there. The sheer force of the blast tore through Sahaquiel's core, causing a massive explosion in the sky. A brilliant flash of light consumed the Angel, and in an instant, it was gone—nothing more than a vaporized memory.
The laser cannon retracted back into the Godslayer as if it had never been there at all. The entire event had taken seconds.
Down below, Quest sighed quietly. "Too easy."
In the command center, everyone stared in stunned silence. It wasn't just the fact that the Godslayer had destroyed the Angel so effortlessly—it was how it had done it. The power, the precision, the sheer scale of the technology they had just witnessed was unlike anything they had ever seen before.
Misato finally broke the silence. "He…he shot it from Earth. He destroyed an Angel in space from the ground."
Ritsuko leaned forward, her eyes wide with a mixture of awe and disbelief. "The precision required to hit a target in space… that's impossible. But he just did it."
Gendo smiled faintly, his expression unreadable. "The Godslayer 2.0… It's far beyond what we anticipated. This changes everything."
As the command center erupted into a flurry of activity, Quest's calm voice crackled over the communication line. "I'll be back when you need me. Until then, try to keep up."
And with that, the Godslayer turned, its thrusters engaging as it silently retreated into the distance. The battlefield was clear, the Angel obliterated, and Quest Strother once again proved that his fight was on an entirely different level.
The message was clear: as long as the Godslayer stood, no enemy—on Earth or beyond—could stand against it.
