Not long after Emmet's sentimental (and somewhat valuable) items went missing Jack decided it was time to have a week at Violet's. After all she had more space and Jack had a feeling Emmet was suspicious of him.
"Oh, don't be silly, Emmet's just a private person. Of course he likes you." Was Rose's reply when Jack said he best leave because he thought Emmet didn't like him.
In truth she knew Emmet didn't like her half-brother, what she didn't know was he had been logging all the items which had gone missing during his stay. Ready to hand into the police.

Just down the road at the 'Bouquet Residence' Hyacinth Bucket could not believe what her sister Violet was telling her down the phone.
"But why should he need to stay with you Violet? The man has a wife. A sick one at that he should be attending to. I'm sorry Violet but I know what I saw at your birthday party and I stand by it. The man was trying to steal your object d'art. I don't care if he inherited a successful grain emporium. I don't trust the man and that's not just because he is blackening dear Daddy's name. There is something off about him. You mark my words, dear." Hyacinth didn't wait for her sister's reply. Instead, she thrust down the receiver of her slimline white telephone with last number redial.
"Well really, the cheek of that man." She muttered returning to the living room. Where her husband was sitting trying to complete that day's newspaper crossword.
"Oh, you aren't still on about Mr Barker-Finch, are you?" Richard asked, referring to the fact while the Barker-Finch's at number 23 were having their driveway repaved, they had parked their car outside Hyacinth and Richard's.
"Indeed I am not, Richard. Do try and lay attention, dear. That was Violet on the telephone. She's got that Mr O'Riley staying with her. I have tried to tell her he is no relation to us, whatsoever and the man is a thief but she won't listen. Why can't my sisters see this man for who he really is?"
Richard had heard this constantly since Jack had undertaken the DNA test. Like most of Hyacinth's rants, he just let it wash over him.
Since Jack had been rotating his abode between her sister's homes Hyacinth hadn't heard much from her family and she was getting increasingly jealous of Jack. Not to mention she was absolutely certainly she saw him trying to steal from Violet at her birthday party.
Somehow, she would find a way of showing her sisters that Jack O'Riley couldn't be trusted.
