Cole POV: I watched as Zane checked Kai over again after three weeks. Nya and Lloyd were going to be here, but they needed to get some sleep since they both had been on edge. Not in a bad way, but when Zane mentioned that Kai could start using a wheelchair they've both been way too excited. Thankfully though Lloyd's ribs are mostly healed, so he didn't hurt himself. I promised them that I would make sure that he was fine and to update them afterward.

I also couldn't help but be reassured as I watched everything. Kai looked so much better than when I carried him back. Even though he was still wrapped up like a mummy, he didn't look so… broken anymore. That alone makes me feel a lot better, and there was something else that confirmed everything was going to be okay.

"Seriously Zane, I'm fine. So can I please take this off my face." Kai said, gesturing to his mask.

"I'm still doing tests. Please be patient." Was all that Zane said without looking at him. He was checking the results of his scans, and Kai groaned in frustration. Even though that made him cringe slightly in pain.

He's still as stubborn as he usually is. That means he's definitely getting better. I laughed quietly at him and stated, "Just let him do his job, Kai."

He rolled his eyes, and Zane finally turned back. "It appears your infection has healed, and your lung seems to be healthy as well. I would like you to stay in bed for one more day, just to be safe. Then we can have you use a wheelchair until you're stable enough for crutches."

"Alright. I might be able to handle one more day of boredom, sure." Kai said, despite not looking so happy about that.

"Don't worry about that. I think Lloyd was planning on coming in for another movie marathon." I told him, and that perked him up a bit.

"And seeing that we don't have to worry about your breathing anymore. You can take the oxygen mask off." Zane said, and Kai immediately nodded.

Since his wrist was still wrapped, he could grab anything too well, but he managed. And sighed in relief once it was off and said, "That feels so much better."

"I'm sure it does. But that also means that you're going to be trying even harder to get out of here." I stated, and he rolled his eyes again.

"Excuse me for wanting to move around and not wanting to be trapped. Unlike Lloyd, who you guys let roam around." he said, but I raised an eyebrow at him.

"Well, he doesn't have a broken leg." I countered, and he flinched at that. He didn't say anything else, so I won this argument.

"Speaking of Lloyd, I should go and check on him. I'll return later for another check-up." Zane said and left.

I pulled up a chair and said, "Well, are you going to listen to him?"

He laughed quietly and said, "It's not like I can just walk out of here."

I laughed too, then continued, "But I'm going to guess that you're not looking forward to being pushed around?"

"It's not something I'm looking forward to, but it's not like I can do anything about it." He answered, but I noticed that he sounded off.

And I think I know what it is. "Kai, just because you need help doesn't mean we think of you differently."

He didn't answer me. He just sighed and laid back against the pillows, not looking at me. I think I hit the nail on the head. Eventually, he said, "I know that… it doesn't change the fact that I can't really do anything."

"Well, yeah, you can't. But that's what happens when you nearly get buried alive." I stated, and he gave me a soft glare.

But I ignored that and continued, "It's just natural that we take care of you when you're like this. So just let us, okay?"

He just sighed again, but he did eventually nod in agreement. So that was another win for me. Though he was getting tired and I had to make him take a nap. After I made sure that he was actually sleeping, I left. Lloyd and Nya would want an update, and I did promise them.

They weren't in their rooms, where I thought they were. I ended up finding them out on the deck, training. Since Lloyd wasn't in too much pain, we agreed to let him train again. But only if it was with one of us just in case. He had a lot of energy building up, and he needed to do something more active. Plus, his anxiety was getting affected by that, and it wasn't doing him any good. But we don't have to worry about that anymore. Though the second that they saw me, they stopped and rushed towards me.

"Cole, how did it go? Was everything okay? Can we start moving him? Is his lung better?" Lloyd immediately started asking before I could get a word out.

Nya lightly grabbed his shoulder and interrupted, "Calm down, Lloyd, let him speak." She says that, but I know her well enough to know that Lloyd beat her to the punch with the questions.

"He's fine and his lungs are okay. Zane just wants him to rest one more day before using the chair." I explained, making Lloyd groan loudly.

"Really?" He has never sounded more like a kid.

"Hey if you want to argue this, then by all means. Go talk with Zan then." But I knew that he wouldn't do that.

He grumbled and Nya laughed behind him. But she still said, "We'll just have to wait one more day. It'll be okay."

"I know, but I just feel bad for Kai. He's probably bored out of his mind. I would be, if I were in his shoes." Lloyd said, and he wasn't wrong.

Since Kai started to feel better he has mentioned that he was getting bored. But that wasn't surprising, and I'm guessing that it wasn't the only reason. Lloyd probably wanted to make it up to him since Kai saved him. Whatever the reason, he was going to need to wait even if he didn't want to.

Then Nya said, "We can still go to the med-bay to hang out. That should help with keeping both of you distracted."

"Hey, I'm doing better than Kai." Lloyd argued, but I rolled my eyes a little at that.

"You do know that's a low bar, right?" I commented. He lightly punched me for that, but he didn't try to counter what I said.

Nya shook her head and tapped his shoulder again, "Come on, let's go make sure that Kai hasn't tried to escape."

I laughed as they walked away. But my guess is that he is going to try and convince them to leave the second they open the door. Kai never could just sit down and accept his fate, even when he's injured. It doesn't make much sense to me, but that's just who he is. And it's not like we can't handle him at this point, especially Nya.

Though I wish that he would just let himself heal. It would make all of our lives easier.
