It had been a month since Roy and Riza's date and it has been great. They were in a secret relationship that they would make public when he was Fuhrer. He was currently doing his paperwork with Chiko on his head, when there was knock on the door. "Come in." He looked up and was surprised to see Riza looking at him worried. "Lieutenant? Is everything okay?" He only called her by first name when they were alone. She closed the door and said. "I wish it was sir. Have you seen today's paper?" "Uh, I have not. Should I have?" "I think it would have been best, but I think it's better discussing it here then you heading to my apartment scared about my reaction. (Hands him paper) Take a look."
He takes the paper and read it. "'In a shocking turn of events, it is revealed that Colonel Roy Mustang the flame alchemist and First lieutenant Riza Hawkeye are in a relationship immediately after the Lieutenant's first love Private Link Monroe's arrest. An Anonymous source has asked us to look into Monroe's father and his past with Mustang that could link to his death. Will there be justice for these crimes?'" Roy scoffs, throws it in the trash and burns it.
"Colonel?" "I'm fine Lieutenant. Just angry at the world, the news, Monroe and Kimble. (looks at her) What do you want to do?" She looked at him and sighed. "I believe it would be best to tell the truth sir. After all, they are asking for a conference with us." Roy looked at her in surprise. "A press conference? When did this happen?"
"Before I got here sir, the receptionists told me that the Fuhrer has called a press conference to reveal the truth to the public about Monroe's lies. It was obvious that the anonymous tip was from him. So, he decided to make this meeting and has asked us to keep it professional." Roy nodded and walked up to her, then hugged her tight. She was caught off guard but hugged him back. She buried her face into his shoulder while he buried his nose in her hair, taking in her scent.
He rubbed the back of her hair and said. "I love you Riza." "I love you to Roy." They separated and kissed with Chiko covering her eyes but peeking.
Roy and Riza were currently sitting on a table surrounded by reporters, asking questions.
Reporter one: Are the rumors true that Monroe had beaten the colonel for revenge and was in a relationship with Lieutenant Hawkeye?
Riza: While it is true that Monroe has beaten the colonel for blinded revenge and based off untrue facts, me and him were not in a relationship. He had a crush on me but I did not feel the same or made he think I did.
Reporter two: Is it true that the colonel murdered those men for reasons to hear his flames roaring?
Roy: (Rolls his eyes) No, I didn't even know a Monroe in the war. But I can clarify that it was an alchemist that killed those men for the reason to hear their screams, but I can say that man is facing justice for these crimes right now.
Reporter three: How did Monroe come to believe these lies?
Riza: Recent reports have shown that after his mothers death, he went to collect her thing but met the very man that killed his father but was given a twisted version of it because that man is a psychopath and wants nothing more than for the colonel to suffer for putting him behind bars.
The conference was going smoothly until they asked. "Is it true that you two got into a relationship after Monroe's arrest?" Riza was about to deny this. "No, we actually-." "Forgive me Lieutenant but I don't want to keep this a secret." She looked at him in surprise at he smiles at her then holds her hand saying while looking at the crowd. "Me and the lieutenant are in a relationship. For we love each other but this does not mean I favor her or will break any laws to raise her up the food chain but will do anything to protect the ones I love from harm. I love Hawkeye and I want to be with her forever. We love each other forever."
Everyone stared at him in shock as he looked at her saying. "I love you Riza, now and forever." Riza blushed and said. "I love you too."
After the press conference, Roy and Riza were chilling at his house with the pets. Riza was leaning her back on Roy's chest while Roy was leaning against the edge with Chiko on his head and Hayate sleeping on Riza's lap. "It surprised me sir that you confessed to being in a relationship with me. Are sure that was wise?" "While I wanted to keep it a secret and keep up my womanizer appearance, we both knew they had evidence of it, and I was just speaking the truth. I really do love you Riza." Riza smiled and says. "I love you too Roy."
Riza turned towards him and they kissed. Roy put his hand on the back of her neck, deepening the kiss. As they kissed, Roy was thinking. 'No matter what, He'll always believe Kimble and not evidence. I know no matter what I say or do, he's never going to believe me. It's time to show that monster that I would never use my alchemy like that. No matter what people say.' Roy separates from Riza and says. "I need to go somewhere." He gets up from the couch as Riza looks at him confusedly. "Where?"
Roy looks at her determinedly and says. "To put an end to this mess, once and for all."
Currently, Roy was sitting in a room with a glass window in front of him. Chiko wasn't with him because he wanted to do this alone. Roy looked up at the sound of a door opening to see a familiar man in cuffs and a guard leading him. The man glares at him and yanks the phone as Roy does the same but gently. "Mustang." "Monroe." This skinny, worn out and scruffy looking man was Link Monroe. Roy's tormentor. "Here to gloat for stealing the woman I love?" Roy shook his head and said. "No, while I did that to havoc, it was because it was funny and those women would have left him anyway but that's not why I'm here. I'm here about Ishval and your father."
Monroe flinches at this and bangs his fist on the glass saying. "I DON'T WANT TO HEAR YOUR EXCUSES!" Roy didn't flinch at the banging and continued. "I know you're not gonna believe me, even if the evidence was staring you in the face but I just wanna show you the truth that Kimble kept from you." Monroe looked confused but the grinned at said. "He knew you were gonna place the blame on him and to not listen to anything you said and I'm not gonna listen to a manipulator like you." "How ironic that you listen to a man in prison for charges of murder instead of a man who never even met a 'Monroe' until you."
Monroe's eyes widened at this and looked confused, but he shook his head saying. "No, Your lying! He wouldn't-!" "Matthew Monroe," Monroes eyes widened at this and looked up at him as he continued. "Jackson Brenic, John Mordoc, Jake burns and James Avery. These were the men in Kimble's group." 'How did?' These were the men that Kimble told him that were Mustangs group and said that he didn't have any men. "Alchemists in the war either enjoyed killing or wished to die where they've committed sins. They war brought out colors in people that I wished to never see again and broke men so much they will kill themselves. Myself included in the latter."
This was shocking to Monroe; he never knew this. "You remember when I said that I hired a Winged serpent to put a soldier in Ishval for justice for what they did?" Monroe nodded and Roy continued. "Well, that man was Kimble. He did all those things, including killing your father and your friend's father's." Monroe looked down and shook at this revelation, Kimble? The man he considered a friend did all that. No! he was lying!
"I told the guards to bring you the file in case you wanted to see for it yourself." Monroe looked up in shock. "Didn't you consider why Kimble didn't want you to look up the files? It's because he didn't want you to learn the truth and keep it to himself. Making you into his puppet." Monroe stared at Roy, unable to comprehend what he has been told. "Believe me, don't believe. I don't care, I just wanted to tell you the truth because you deserved to know but that doesn't mean I forgive you. I wish nothing more then for you to suffer. I'll never forgive you for threatening my men and the woman I love. Remember that. Enjoy your sentence."
Roy got up from his chair and left as Monroe finally realized that Roy mustang the flame alchemist and the man he supposedly wanting to kill, was telling the truth. Tears fell down his face as he cried out. "MUSTANG!" Roy ignored his calls and thought to himself. 'If you were only smarter and tried to confirm the truth, then you would have been one of the people that I would protect but now?' Roy stepped out of the prison and saw Riza with an umbrella looking at the sunny sky that cleared up from the rain, she looked at him with Chiko on her shoulder and smiled at him. He smiled back at her and walked up towards. 'I have a future to look forward to without you in it.' Roy took Riza's hands and kissed, with Chiko covering her eyes while blushing red but peeked a little.
One year later.
Roy, with Chiko in his hair, made his way through the hallway after getting the news. Ed and Al found the for the philosopher's stone and got their bodies back. He got to their room and took a deep breath, before opening the door to see Ed and a newly restored Al, laughing while playing cards. They looked at the door and saw Roy standing there, looking shocked. Ed smiled and walked up to him saying. "Hey there colonel."
Roy smiled and held out his left hand, wanting to be the first to shake his flesh hand. Ed smirked and grabbed his hand with his right hand but lost it when Roy pulled him into a hug. He hugged back and smiled. After a minute, they separated, and Roy said. "I'm glad your arm is back Ed." "Me too sir." Roy looked at Al and saw that he was sickly thin and had really long hair, but he was Alphonse Elric. There's no mistaking those golden eyes. "Al." "Hey there Colonel. Good to see you in the flesh. I thought it would be a while before I got to see you again but I guess I was wrong."
Roy smirked and said. "Don't underestimate me kid." Al giggled but then held out his hand for Roy to grab. Roy smiled before taking off his glove and grabbed his hand softly causing Al's smile to grow bigger. "It's so warm." Roy smiled at this, then Chiko ran down his arm and went to Al. He held Chiko and Softly held her in his hand. "So soft. I mean I knew she was soft but this is really soft." This caused Ed and Roy to chuckle. Suddenly, Roy pulled Ed and Al towards him and said. "I'm so proud of both of you. My boys."
Ed and Al smiled, hugging Roy back as Chiko ran up his arm and hugged his neck. Finally, the Elric's suffering was over.
It had been five years since that incident and now Roy was getting ready for this big day, the day he made Fuhrer now. It was a dream come true. He looked in the mirror of the bath and breathed heavily. This was it, his dream will finally be a reality. He just wish that Hughes was here and that would make this day even greater.
He sighed and stood up straight. "Today's the day I make Fuhrer. The dream he and I had is coming true. I won't let you down Hughes, I promise." He sighed once again and headed outside the bathroom where Havoc was waiting outside. He looked at him and said. "Finally ready?" "I've been ready since Ishval. Let's go." "Yes sir." They walked towards the area where the stage was. As they were walking, Havoc said. "Glad you shaved the beard. It was freaking everyone out and no body liked it." Roy rolled his eyes at this and said. "Don't get your hopes up, it's coming back after this." Havoc groaned at this. Hoping the bread will be gone for good but he just had to get his hopes up. They make it to the stage and Havoc salutes him. He salutes back with a smile and gets on stage. Grunmen, the old Fuhrer, is standing there and gives a speech. After the speech, he said. "And I now do with a relieved heart give up my position to my successor to General Roy Mustang the flame Alchemist."
Everyone cheered as Grunman gave the Fuhrer rank pins on Roy. The two salute to each other and Roy walks to the podium. He looks into the crowd and sees the people he cares about. He sees Ed and Al in the crowd watching him with a Heavily pregnant Winry with a little boy with them, he sees Gracia and Elica. Elica is so big now that Roy didn't recognize her. She had her father's eyes but looked just like her mother. He saw his team, they were smiling at him and looked proud at how he'd come and then he saw her. Riza Hawkeye, the love of his life. She was holding Chiko in her hands with Hayate next to her.
Chiko was wearing a nice dress that Roy got for her and Hayate had a bow tie on. Today was going good and now it was time for his speech.
Roy: I'd just like to thank everyone for coming here today and making the time. I know these past three years have been rough. With Fuhrer King Bradley being killed and going to war with Dracma but we made it through. Bradley was a good leader and a loving Father and husband to his family. 'Lies, Bradley wasn't a good Fuhrer but they don't need to hear that.' I hope to one day live up to his image. 'Not.' The reason I stand here today among you is because this was once a dream I had when I was in the civil war in Ishval. I hoped for no more pointless bloodshed and wars. I know that might seem like a pointless dream but It's mine and I'm sure all of yours as well. The war has brought tears and heartache to everyone, loved ones and family. I make this promise that I will do my best for there to be no more pointless war or bloodshed during my reign as Fuhrer.
Roy took a breath and looked at Riza and she nodded. He smiled and continued.
Roy: I make this proclamation to all of that if we every go to war again, it will not be a repeat of ishval only if absolutely necessary. (Takes a breath) I made this proclamation back in Ishval with brigadier general Maes Hughes to become Fuhrer and I am glad to be carrying on this promise now more then ever to carry on that promise.
Gracia and Elicia have tears in their eyes on the mention of Hughes but were happy about it.
Roy: I make this promise to everyone that I will do my best to make sure that there will be no more pointless wars and bloodshed. (Take out watch and holds it up) I swear it on my life as an Alchemist that I will ensure peace will come before bloodshed.
Everyone cheered at this and clapped. Roy smiled and said. "I would now ask captain Riza Hawkeye to come to the stage please." Riza looked surprised but got up anyway with Chiko in Al's hands now. She got up to the stage in front of Roy as he talked. "I know your gonna reprimand me for this but you know I love dramatic flares. (Takes her hands) Riza Hawkeye, I have known you since we were children and I have loved you since then and was too scared to say anything but after Ishval, I felt undeserving of love so I gave up on it but my love for you grew over time. When Monroe came along and threatened to hurt you, I knew that I had to endure everything just to keep you safe."
Riza had tears in her eyes as Roy continued. "These six years with you have been a dream come true for me and I wish to make it into a reality. So, Riza Hawkeye." Roy slowly got on one knee, making her gasp at what he was doing. He smiles at her and asks. "Will you continue to make this dream a reality today and give me the honor of calling you my wife?"
She had a feeling this would happen, a couple of years ago she and Roy had made a deal that if he made Fuhrer and promised to do his paperwork (She had said that as a joke but he took it seriously) then she'd marry him but she wasn't expecting it like this but like Roy said, he liked dramatic flares. She smiled as tears went down her face saying. "Yes." Roy smile turn into a grin as he got up and kissed her as everyone cheered for them. Hayate was howling in glee while Chiko did some flips in Alphonse's hand. Two dreams came true that day, Roy made Fuhrer and he proposed to Hawkeye, this was truly a great day.
three month later
Roy was currently fixing his uniform and fixing his hair, today was the day he was marrying the love of his life. Originally it was supposed to be Hughes to be his best man but that changed to Havoc but now? It was Edward. The Monroe Incident had made him and the Elric's closer, which surprised everyone that he and Ed got close but hey, Ed liked proving people wrong.
After finally getting ready and calming his nerves, he gets out to see Edward waiting for him. He looks at Roy and says. "Finally! You ready?" "As I'll ever be." "Then let's get going." Ed and Roy make there way to the hall. Roy stood near the alter with his groomsmen near him. It went like this, Ed was his best men, Al a groomsmen next to him and Havoc stood near Al. On the bridesmaid's side, held Rebecca, Gracia and Sheska. Elicia was a flower girl while Hayate was the ring barrier and Chiko would hand them the rings in a very adorable dress, Roy cooed at the sight of her but what made Roy jaw dropped, was Riza.
She was in a very beautiful wedding dress that made her glow and more beautiful. Ed casually put his hand under his jaw and shut his mouth for him and Roy kept it shut with a smile on his face. Riza got to him and they held each other's hands. Hearing the mans words and going through the vows was a breeze to him. Then can the important part.
Man: Do you, Roy Mustang, take Riza Hawkeye as your lofted wedded wife, in sickness and in health, to never leave her side and remember your promise?
Roy: I do.
Man: Do you, Riza Hawkeye, take Roy Mustang as your lofted wedded husband, in sickness and in health, to never leave his side and to remember your promise?
Riza: I'd follow him into hell if in have to.
This made the audience laugh as well as the man that was marrying them before continuing.
Man: Now, the rings.
Hayate took his cue and presented them with Chiko holding them out. Roy and Riza blush at this and took the rings in thanks. Then they faced each other, repeating the words the man said and placed their rings on each other's fingers. Slipping the ring onto her small, strong and delicate finger felt right and when she slipped his ring onto his finger, it was the greatest thing in the world. He remembered when Hughes talked about the ring and how great a feeling it was. 'He's right.' Roy thought in his head. 'It is the greatest thing in the world. You were right Hughes, I hope you're watching from wherever you are.' After the rings were on the man said.
Man: By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may kiss the bride.
"Don't have to tell me twice." Roy grabbed her by the hips and brought her into a kiss, Riza placed her hands on his cheeks and they kissed. Everyone cheered, cried and made a noise. Finally the couple they have been waiting for was now together.
It had been a couple of years since the wedding and right now, Riza was laying on a hospital bed with sweat down her face as she looked at her husband. "You know, your gonna have to say something instead of staring at your son."
Roy Mustang, still adjuring his scruffy beard was holding a baby in his arms, completely in awe of the sight. "I'm sorry, he's just so small and tiny. I'm just amazed that's all." Riza chuckled at this and said. "At least be amazed over here. I wanna see my son as well." "That's understandable." Roy said while coming to her bed and laying their son down in between them. Chiko came out of Roy's hair and looked at the baby in awe with sparkles around her. "You know he can't be called baby mustang forever." "I know, how about Micheal or John or Tim? Or all three. Micheal Johnny Tim."
He looks at his wife who has a look of disapproval, Chiko as well. He smiled at her and said. "What? Don't like that?" "You know you can name him whatever you want right?" "I know." She looks at him and says. "Including the one your thinking about." Roy's smile turned sad as he looks at his son. "I don't want it to burden him." Riza shook her head and says. "It won't be a burden for him." She kisses his forehead and says. "Will it Maes?"
Their son, now named Maes, woke up and cooed at that name and started giggling. "See? He likes it." Tear started going down Roy's face with a smile. He covered his eyes and said while his voice broke. "Yeah, I think so to." Riza places a hand on his shoulder while Chiko held his neck in comfort. They've hit rough patches before this day.
Ishval, Hughes death, Monroe, the Media, Bradley, everything. But nothing can stop them, because even if they didn't have feelings for each other, they would always be a team. No matter what.
