Chapter 31: Consequences of Our Actions
The front gate of the prison shook violently as the weight of the Walker horde pushed up against it. Tenten and Choji watched that gate like a hawk. Soon the bolts that held it up would snap and the gates would tumble to the ground. Upon inspection before this happened, it seemed the gate was fine, but an important detail was missed, the fact the bolts holding the hinges of the gates were rusted.
"It's not going to hold much longer!" yelled Tenten.
"Everybody, inside the prison, now!" ordered Naruto.
While Tenten and Choji watched the gate, Naruto had everyone else gather all the vegetables they could from the garden that was growing and a large amount of water from the well.
Now Naruto was ushering everyone inside the prison itself. He wanted their presence gone by time that gate came down, allowing the Walker horde inside the walls. Naruto's hope was that if there were no people to be heard, they wouldn't stack up against the prison door.
After everyone was inside the prison, including Tenten and Choji, Naruto locked the front doors and watched the front gate from the barred windows.
"I need everyone to get downstairs, I don't want these walkers to know we are inside," Naruto ordered.
His other hope was they would just walk around the prison and then leave. Once the horde would be gone, they could return to the outside and fix the gate.
Suddenly the front gates came crashing down to the ground and the undead began entering the prison yard. Naruto moved away from the windows and quietly went down the elevator shaft to the basement level of the prison.
"Did they fall yet?" whispered Tenten.
Naruto nodded and sat down. Everyone was sitting down and not making a sound.
"Do you think the prison doors will hold up?" Sasuke whispered to Naruto.
"It doesn't sound like they're piling up against the door. As long as they don't do that, it should be fine," Naruto whispered back.
Outside the prison, the yard was filling up with Walkers. However, they did not pile up against the front door as all sign of life had disappeared and the Walkers just started walking around the prison itself.
Hours Before.
The front gates of the prison opened up and Yuko walked outside and up to Tensai. Yuko could feel sick inside seeing his stupid grin on his face. He really was in love with her, but the feelings were not mutual. Yuko hid the kunai she would use behind her back where it would be easiest to get to.
"Are you ready to go, my darling?" asked Tensai.
"Only if you promise you're really not going to hurt anyone here," Yuko said.
"I'm not, I walked the horde into a quarry and then locked the gate. They're not a threat to anyone right now," Tensai said, trying to assure Yuko he was going to keep his end of the deal.
Naruto watched Tensai and Yuko, walk into the woods and disappear from sight. He sighed and hoped the plan works. Sasuke then appeared by Naruto's side.
"I found his horde; he has them locked up inside a quarry. They are no threat to the prison right now," he said.
"All that's left is Yuko killing him and there will never be a threat again," Naruto said, coldly.
"I'm surprised you gave in," Sasuke said.
"Yeah, I really didn't want her to have to do this, but she insisted," Naruto revealed.
Naruto and Sasuke returned to the prison yard from the guard tower. Naruto advised Tenten and Choji to be on the lookout for Yuko when she came back.
"So where are we going to go?" asked Yuko.
"I figured we can return to the Research Pod and reinforce it to protect us," Tensai answered.
"Why do we have to go back there?" Yuko asked, "Why can't we just find somewhere else? There was so much..."
"God Damn Yuko, do you always have to make things so fucking difficult?!" yelled Tensai.
"I'm not trying to be difficult; I just don't want to go back to a place where I saw a bunch of people get ripped to shreds by Walkers!" explained Yuko.
"Tch. You didn't waste any time talking like them," Tensai spat.
Yuko chose to ignore Tensai last sentence as she slowly reached for the kunai that was hiding behind her back. This was as good as any time to carry out her mission to get rid of this bastard. She was following close behind as Tensai yakked about his reasoning on why going back to The Research Pod was a good idea. As Tensai talked, he revealed that it was him that allowed the undead inside to kill everyone which disgusted Yuko to her core, and she just did it.
"What the fuck?!" Tensai yelled as he felt a sharp pain coming from his side.
Tensai looked to find a kunai sticking out of his side near his kidney and the blood dripping to the ground. He looked up at Yuko who was backing away. Tensai's heart broke and then he became angry.
"You fucking bitch! Why'd you stab me?!" he yelled. "You and those fucking people are going to regret this!"
Tensai turned and began walking toward the quarry he had trapped the undead.
"Shit!" Yuko said and turned around and ran back toward the prison to warn everyone.
Tensai reached the quarry he had trapped the undead in. He was in a lot of pain and feeling quite woozy from all the blood loss. Somewhere along the way between where he was stabbed and the quarry, he managed to get the kunai out of his side and used parts of his shirt to pack the womb. Luckily, he found a shack with some clothing inside which he took to wrap around his body and wound but he was still slowly bleeding out.
Tensai was determined to end the prison like he did with The Research Pod. After resting for a moment, he made his way to the gate, unlocked them and opened them up. Once opened, he found the undead all the way at the bottom of the quarry, so Tensai started shouting and making noise. Of course, doing all that made the pain of his kunai stab wound hurt more.
The undead took the bait, however, and started climbing back out of the quarry toward the gate where Tensai continued to bang on the metal gate with a metal pipe. Once the undead were close enough, Tensai began walking in the direction of the prison. Even in pain, he tried to keep his distance just far enough away where the dead could still follow him but not actually get him.
Yuko managed to find the prison again. Tenten and Choji, who were in the guard towers, recognized her and opened the gate for Yuko to come back inside. Yuko ran inside as Naruto met up with her.
"Are you okay?" Naruto asked.
Yuko fell to her knees and tears began to fall, "I stabbed him, but I failed to kill him. He's going to round up the undead horde and come back here with them. I'm sorry."
Naruto placed a hand on her shoulder, "It's okay, I knew this was a big task for you and I was certainty prepared if it failed."
Naruto walked to the center of the courtyard and rounded everyone up. He began giving out orders to prepare for the worst. He had people begin harvesting the garden Hinata had been tending to as she mourned Kiba. Naruto had people take supplies to the basement of the prison where they will stay if the horde breaks through the gate. Naruto kept Tenten and Choji at the gate to look out for the horde or even Tensai himself.
Sasuke walked up to Naruto, "Don't forget, I'm the only person that never breathed in that orange smog. I can use my jutsu just fine to kill that horde."
"I know, but that will be a last resort, if they break into the courtyard," Naruto stated. "I'm hoping the gate will hold and the horde will move on."
"Just so you know, I am ready," Sasuke said.
Next Morning.
Tensai dragged himself out into the clearing near the prison. He limped a bit as he got closer, and the undead horde wasn't too far behind. Tensai stopped when he was close enough for Naruto or the gate guards to hear him.
"All I wanted was Yuko to love me like I loved her, but you motherfuckers turned her against me!" Tensai yelled. "You just sent her with me to try and kill me!"
Naruto was on the right guard tower listening.
"You did it to yourself!" Naruto yelled back. "Yuko told us she was going to stay with you until you revealed that it was you that allowed the Walkers into The Reasearch Pod to kill everyone!"
"I thought she would understand because everyone there treated me like shit, unlike her!" Tensai stated. "Because I was pissed off with everyone else, I ended up taking it out on her and then she flushed me as her partner and that's when I had enough! I saved Yuko in hopes she'd like me again but all she did was see me like the others see me!"
Naruto sighed as he knew exactly what that felt like as he remembered when he was younger and everyone in Konohagakure hated him, and at the time, never understood why.
"I know how you feel!" Naruto said. "When I was younger, my own home village of Konoha treated me the same way and I never understood why at the time, but I managed to change everyone's opinion of me the right way! Something you could have done too!"
"It doesn't matter anymore, just so you'll know, this is the consequences of your actions!" Tensai yelled.
The Walker horde came out of the forest and headed straight for the prison. Tensai got down on his knees and opened up his arms and closed his eyes as Walkers grabbed onto Tensai and bit down, tearing off Tensai skin. Naruto looked away but was unsettled by the fact that Tensai didn't scream as he was being eaten by Walkers.
The Walkers then started piling up at the front gate, pounding on it, trying to find a way in to get to Naruto. Naruto got down from the guard tower and ushered everyone closer to the prison itself.
"What happened?" asked Sasuke.
"Tensai told me why he unleashed Walkers in The Research Pod and then sacrificed himself to the Walkers and now they're at the front gate," Naruto answered.
Yuko overheard Naruto saying Tensai sacrificed himself and had to ask, "Sacrificed? Is he dead?"
Naruto nodded yes and Yuko didn't feel sad, she felt relieved that she dosen't have to worry about the psycho trying to come back for her again.

"Everybody, inside the prison, now!" ordered Naruto.
Present Time.
"It's been a few hours now, think they've gone?" asked Choji, whispering.
"I don't know, but Sasuke is trying to get to the roof, quietly to see," whispered Naruto.
Everyone nodded and went back to being silent.
On the ground floor of the prison, Sasuke quietly walked to the prison main doors. He slowly looked out the dirty, barred windows to see the Walkers were just barely moving in circles but luckily, they were not piling up against the doors.
Sasuke quietly backed away from the door and headed towards the prison guard area of the prison to get to the roof access. Sasuke walked through the main guard control post and to the hallway that led to the roof access.
During preparations, Naruto had every prison door opened so Sasuke could get to the roof without making any noise. Naruto even had the roof access door opened so no noise would be made.
Sasuke made it to the ladder and climbed up and out onto the roof. Sasuke stayed low and walked as silently as he could to the back of the prison. Sasuke slightly looked over the edge and found a few walkers. Sasuke performed his body flicker technique and ended up on top of the wall surrounding the prison. He quietly made his way to the prison gate where he would perform his jutsu to kill all the Walkers in one go.
Sasuke made it to the top of the brick portion of the prison gate and stood up and began performing hand seals. As he is performing the hand seals, the sky starts to darken with clouds. The clouds began to flash with lightning. The chirping of the lightning causes the Walker horde to stop moving and just look up at the sky. They had not noticed Sasuke standing on top of the prison gate as Sasuke lifted his Kusanagi into the air as it collected electricity and then brings it back down, pointing to the ground and a massive amount of lightning strikes hit the Walker horde, instantly killing them all.
Sasuke dropped down to one knee as he hadn't used a lightning jutsu that powerful in a while, bu the managed to kill most of the horde as the stragglers that were in the back of the prison came walking to the front. It was only a few, so Sasuke jumped from the gate to the ground and begin stabbing the remaining walkers in the head with his Kusanagi.
After a few moments, they were all dead. Sasuke decided to take a walk around the prison one time to make sure they were no Walkers left. After one lap around the prison, he did not find any more living Walkers and they were all dead.
Sasuke then walked to the prison doors and used the key Naruto had given him to unlock the doors.
Naruto heard the echo of the front prison doors being unlocked and stood up. Everyone else watched him.
"What was that?" asked Yuko.
"Sasuke managed to kill all of the horde because that was the sound of the front prison doors being unlocked. I had given Sasuke the key to come in that way if he was successful," Naruto answered.
Sure enough, Sasuke came down into the basement. However, Sasuke was covered in blood and Naruto was concerned.
"Are you..." Naruto started but Sasuke interrupted.
"The blood's not mine, I had to kill a few Walkers with a kunai," Sasuke stated. "But the task is done, they're all dead."
Sasuke stayed behind to clean up and rest as Naruto and the rest of the group left the basement and walked outside the prison. The group looked around and found hundreds of dead Walkers. He sighed because this was going to be one hell of a clean-up job.
"Alright guys, I guess it's time to start cleaning up and rebuild the prison gate," Naruto said.
