Chapter 9: I've chosen

I felt uncomfortable in such an expensive car. It was like I didn't belong. When I walked up to the car, the driver hadn't said much. He only opened the door and closed it behind me when I got in. I wrapped my arms around myself. My heart was pounding. I was excited but scared all at the same time. I wanted to see him. The car had finally come to a stop, and I was shaking. The thought of being alone with him made me behave like this. The driver got out of the car, opening the door for me. I stepped out, looking around. We were in a really rich part of Tokyo. There wasn't anyone walking on the streets. It looked like this part had been cut off by a gate. I looked up at the tall building. Is this where I was supposed to go?

"Please go in, miss," he said, getting back in the car, and driving away.

I walked towards the doors, and the doorman opened the door for me. The lobby was spotless. Marble floors and leather couches. An older man was standing by the elevator. He gave me a small smile.

"Ms. Higurashi, I presume."

I nodded. He pressed the elevator button for me. We both stepped in and he pressed the last button on the panel. Living on the last floor of a very expensive apartment building. In one of the most expensive parts of Tokyo. Very much on brand with the Taisho name. The elevator stopped and I stepped off. I didn't think that this building could get any better. It was a beautiful open space. Ceiling-to-floor panoramic windows. There was an upper level. I could tell the furniture here was expensive. I would have to live four lifetimes just to buy one of the couches here. I heard footsteps. I turned around to see him coming down the stairs. He had dress pants and a dress shirt; both back with matching shoes. His hair was pulled into a high ponytail. He stopped only a few inches away from me. Towering over me like he usually did.

"Hi."

That was all I managed to get out. I sounded like such an idiot. He gave me a smirk. It was the first time I had ever seen him do that. It helped me relax a bit.

"Hello, Kagome."

God that voice. He didn't usually sound so… enticing. It was Sesshomaru but different. I was used to seeing Sesshomaru the professor. I didn't know this side of him, but I wanted to. He slid my coat off my shoulders, laying over the back of the couch. Standing close to me again What was I doing? Was I interested in Sesshomaru? Or was I just physically attracted to him? There was that look again. What was it?

"Have you eaten?"

I snapped out of it.

"No, why?"

He took my hand and pulled me to the dining table. He pulled out the chair for me. He was being very gentlemanly. I could feel my face getting hot. I watched him from my seat. He rolled up his sleeves while he made me a plate. I couldn't help but notice the bulging veins in his arms. I looked down at the table. God, what had gotten into me? He came back over to me, placing the plate in front of me. It smelled delicious.

"Did you make this?"

He nodded. My stomach made a small growling noise, and I had gotten embarrassed all over again. I looked up at him. He wasn't smiling with his lips but with his eyes. It's as if he was trying not to make fun of me for it.

"Eat," he said softly.

"Oh! Right."

I took a bite of the food and I just melted. It was so flavorful. I had no idea what I was eating, but I couldn't stop eating it. Halfway through me stuffing my face. I remembered that he was sitting there watching me. He had that same smirk on his face. I put the fork down and wiped my mouth with the napkin.

"Sorry," I said looking down at my lap.

That was so embarrassing. That was so not sexy at all.

He took my chin between his fingers again, making me look at him.

"Do not apologize. I enjoy watching you eat the food I made for you." He said, letting go.

"You're behaving differently."

"Me in the office and me at home, are two very different things Kagome. Especially when I am alone with you."

I licked my lips. There was that feeling between my thighs again. This time I didn't even try to hide it. He opened his mouth to say something, but my phone started ringing. It was still in my jacket pocket. He got up from the table, getting my phone. I could see who was calling from here. It was Inuyasha.

I sighed. "You can just hang u-"

"Hello," he said, answering the phone.

I froze. I didn't expect him to answer the phone.

"Kagome cannot come to the phone right now."

"It does not matter why I have her phone," he said in a condescending tone.

"She does not wish to speak to you. She is with me, and she is enjoying herself."

"Goodbye, Inuyasha."

I watched him put my phone back. He came back over to me, holding out his hand to me. I stood up and took it. He held my hand firmly. I liked the way his skin felt against mine. He led me over to the living room and we sat. It felt like his eyes were looking through me. I knew he could smell it on me. The fact that I wanted him. Why wasn't he saying anything? He was just giving me that look again.

"Aren't you going to touch me?"

I wasn't sure where I'd gotten the courage to ask that question, but I did. I guess I was running out of patience. It was out there and there was no taking it back. At first, he seemed to be shocked, but soon after that, his eyes darkened.

"Do you want me to touch you?"

I nodded. There was that smirk again. He grabbed one of my thighs, grabbing my hip with the other. He pulled me onto his lap. I was straddling him and my dress was hiked up. At that moment I was glad Sango had talked me into wearing a thong. He took a deep breath in. He pulled me closer to him. I could see specks of red in his eyes.

I put my hands on his shoulders. I leaned forward and touched my forehead to his.

"Why are you being like this all of a sudden?" I whispered.

He licked his lips. "I can answer your question. Or, I can touch you. You cannot have both."

I gripped his shoulders firmly.

"That is not fair Sesshomaru."

He smiled. "Choose."

I clenched my jaw and took a deep breath. I climbed off of him and fixed my dress. Sitting right beside him. Close enough that our thighs were touching. Judging by the look in his eyes. He was a bit disappointed by the choice I'd made. Served him right. He shouldn't have played like that.

"So, exactly why are you treating me like this? What changed? You've never even looked at me until now."

"Not that you have noticed."

I wasn't sure I had heard him right. "What?" I asked softly.

"I have always had my eyes on you Kagome. I have just made sure that you were not aware. I have always paid close attention to you."

"But why?"

"I have chosen."

"Chosen? Chosen what?"

"You."
