Chapter One.
At Modoc's place in the middle of the pitch black night, Leopold was in Modoc's study room, sitting on a couch as he and Modoc were talking about what had happened to Nora and Leopold explained it to him. He understood now that Nora was not the one for McCarthy. He looked at Leopold with a surprised ralization. "Nora is not the one for you and you're looking for a soulmate, Leopold. Aren't you?" Modoc asked him with his eyes widened in surprise. He figured of what the answer would be from the former Professor.
Modoc knew why Nora was killed because McCarthy was looking for someone to love and cherish to Nora, but Nora went to go seek other lovers and Leopold found out about it when he found her with another man and he felt rejected and broken hearted. He walked over to the bed and then he lifted her with his one hand around her neck and his other hand slammed against her chest to her heart when the skin broke and blood was coming out, gushing. The man looked at them in horror before he ran out of the room in fear. Nora looked at Leopold with horror as his hand disapeared into her chest and came out was her heart. McCarthy looked at it and he crushed it with his own bare hands and Nora then went limp and died by his own hand. He let go of her and Nora fell to the floor dead.
Leopold looked at Modoc with a frown and his eye brows raised as he asked if it was the truth all the way. "Yes, Modoc, I am looking for a soulmate. It turns out that Nora is not the one for me. Someone else is out there. It could be another vampire or a human being, who knows our kind perhaps." McCarthy said as he nodded. He want to be loved and cherished by someone for a very long time. Leopold hoped to find that someone and very soon.
Modoc looked at Leopold before he spoke. "Speaking of human beings, Leopold. I have a God daughter just outside of Los Angeles named, Dakota Harding." At his words, McCarthy's eyes widened in wondering and he became very interested in this person. "She is a human being and her parents died in a plane crash when she was in college. I took care of her until she started working and living on her own." He said to him. They spoke some more about Modoc's God daughter before the both of them walked out of the room, walked out of the house that had with tinted windows and went over to Dakota's apartment on foot in the pitch darkness of night.
In a small town just outside of Los Angeles, in an apartment complex on the third floor and in her room of three zero one was a lady named Dakota Harding, thirty years old, who had long light brown hair, clear turquoise eyes, she was five foot and seven inches tall and weighs around one hundred and twenty three pounds. She looked very beautiful and pretty attractive. Her former boyfriend was still stalking her after she broke up with him three years earlier and Dakota was so scared to go out alone because of Jeremy would come to get her and kidnap her to hold her against her will.
He only cared about no one else but himself and he was also a player, going from girl to girl. He mostly goes for money and cars, including manipulating, charms others until he goes behind closed doors. Jeremy would all ways get what he wants and he would act nice in public and turned into a whole another person behind closed doors. A split personality more likely. Just like Dr. Jeykel and Mr. Hyde.
She would also get her food and drinks delivered to her apartment without getting out of her home. All she had to do was call the local store and place her orders. Harding had her apartment filled with security alarms in case if anyone intruded, that included Jeremy into her place, the alarms would go off when they enter at their own risks. Her windows were tinted and covered in blinds and curtains, including the alarms attatched to them and she got the codes to activate and deactivate as well. She knew to stay away from the windows if her former boyfriend came to look through them at her with his binoculars. Good thing that she got out of that abusive relationship with Jeremy for good. Her windows were tinted when her Godfather, Modoc came to visit her just to make sure that she was doing alright, looking after her and if she needed anything.
Dakota works at home, sitting at her desk or standing in front of wall with a hanging easel and rectangle canvas on the wall, working as a painter during the week Mondays through Fridays and a fashion designer on the weekends Friday nights until Sundays at home. She made really good money doing these things by selling her paintings and she would donate then over to the art galas and to some museums and making clothes for the models.
That night, Dakota was staying up late in the middle of the night and she was working on her painting of a fifteenth century British woman, walking with her husband and their two children in a field of flowers. She had already sold quite a bit of her paintings between five tousand up to thirty five thousand dollars. When suddenly, then her phone was ringing. Harding was nervous to the core. She knew that her former boyfriend was still stalking her and planning. Dakota knew that there was a pay phone right across the street and she stayed well away from the tinted windows. She placed her paint brush and her bottle of paint color down on her dining room table before she walked over to where her phone was hanging on the wall at in the kitchen.
Harding knew who it was at this time of night. It was her former boyfriend, Jeremy, who happened to be outside in his car, but he was out of his car, calling and watching her from a pay phone across the street. Dakota knew that he was taunting and stalking her especially making her feel vulnerable. She knew she was sronger than this. Good thing that she never bothered to answer her phone for the time being. Harding sat down in a bar chair in the kitchen with her face in her hands as tears streaming down her cheeks, shaken to the core. She was absolutely terrified.
Just a few blocks down the street from his God daughter's apartment, Modoc and Leopold had really good eye sights because of them being vampires and they have seen a man, who happened to be in his thirties, standing in front of a telephone pole that who it was holding a pay phone receiver with a wicked smile on his face, looking up towards an apartment complex and he was waiting for someone to answer on the other end to torment her. Just then, both McCarthy and Modoc sensed a distressed person, coming from across the street, in that very apartment complex where Dakota was living in.
The two vampires knew that this guy was up to no good at all. Both Leopold and Modoc rushed over and Jeremy's smile fell when he saw two paled looking men, who were glaring hard straight at him. Jeremy knew he was done for the second he saw Modoc came running towards him. "Leopold, go across the street and stay with Dakota so I can deal with this man, who has hurt my God daughter. And she is in apartment number three zero one." Modoc commanded over his shoulder at him. McCarthy nodded in under standing before he turned his heels and he rushed over to Harding's apartment.
