Ghost dug his hands into his jacket pockets and paced back and forth in front of the fence to the orchard. It was locked, and no one was there to open it.
Normally, he would just cut his losses and go home, but he couldn't do that today! He had a date that was supposed to be here! He didn't even get the time wrong!
The orchard was supposed to be open to the public today from 14-20! It was only, Ghost checked his watch, 16:23! There wasn't even any kind of warning on the website that it'd be closed today! Ghost would know, he checked maybe 500 times!
What was he supposed to do now?! His date, who he knew was very busy and very important, would show up any minute! He's gonna be so disappointed when he finds out the orchard is closed and that Ghost doesn't know when it'll be open!
A shiver ran up his spine, and he wrapped his arms around himself, "This sucks!" he whined.
Then, like the world decided today was the day to play the cruelest of pranks on him, he was tackled to the ground by a force strong enough to knock a brick wall over.
Ghost let out a shriek as his head hit the ground, semi thankful that there was a bed of leaves covering the entire area and his head hadn't burst open to let his brains spill out.
"HA!" a familiar, playful voice exclaimed, "Got ya! You should've seen the look on your face!"
Ghost, still in shock, could only stare at the boy on top of him, haughty with pride at his catch. His date, Kaiba Mokuba.
Mokuba jumped off of Ghost, and helped him to his feet.
"You ok Kotsuzaka?" he asked, panting out a few laughs.
"Uh, yeah," he brushed himself off and huffed out a giggle, "don't do that again I think I might break something."
Mokuba rolled his eyes and looked at the clearly locked fence, and no surrounding people. A wide grin began to spread across his face and his eyes obtained a hint of mischief, he looked over to Ghost, "Is it locked?"
The clear smugness that laced his voice completely washed a massive wave of embarrassment over Ghost that, for the first time since he was a baby, his entire face was colored in a bright, vibrant red.
"SHUT UP I DIDN"T KNOW!" he yelled. Not the best decision to make, because that only encouraged Mokuba's teasing.
"Did you invite me to a closed orchard, Kostuzaka?" He moved his face closer to Ghost's.
"The website said it was open today, and…" he shied away and hid his face away in his hood.
Mokuba pulled the hood off and triumphantly proclaimed, "Don't worry! I know how we can get in!"
Mokuba then ran over to the fence and examined it, "Chainlink, nothing on top of it, easy-peasy! It's like they want a break in" he grabbed onto the fence, and then began to climb, "c'mon Kotsuzaka! If we're fast and sneaky we won't get caught!"
Ghost began to sweat, but quickly wiped his palms on his pants in preparation to follow his companion. By the time he was done with that, Mokuba was at the top of the fence.
"Hurry up! The more time we waste the less time we have to- GAH!" Mokuba fell off the fence and landed on his butt, but at least he landed inside the orchard. He quickly got up and brushed off all the leaves that had snuck into his hair and hood, "I'm ok!"
Ghost laughed at his partner's antics, and climbed up the fence, then down the fence. When he got by Mokuba's side, he lightly smacked his arm, "you're crazy! This is a crime!"
He wasn't being serious. Truthfully, Ghost was excited to do this. He wasn't sure why, but the thought of trespassing with Mokuba sounded fun.
Mokuba snickered, and grabbed Ghost's hand, "c'mon~ you know you wanna explore with me~"
Trespassing wasn't on the to-do list for their date, but Ghost was just happy Mokuba wasn't angry at him. Hopefully, nothing went wrong for them.
