Chapter 4:
Miranda Midgeon:
My name is Miranda Midgeon. You probably remember how my best friend pretended to be friends with Harry Potter, who then helped him out. Anyway, yes, my friend is a boy, but trust me, we are just friends. He's not my type. What is my type? Girls and if you have a problem with that, I'll turn you into a ferret. I do, however, think my life would be easier if I was into boys. I was just sitting at the Gryffindor table when she came. Hestia Tonks. She was so beautiful. When she came to me, I felt my heart stopping. "Mind if I sit here," she asked. "UUUUUUUUUhhhhhhhhh... sure." Now I know how John felt.
...
I started hanging with Hestia. It was amazing. She may have been the most wonderful person I have ever met. I think I might be falling in love with her. There is one problem, John doesn't really like her. He's not sure why, he just says she doesn't rub him the right way.
"I certainly hope the girl I love doesn't rub you in anyway," I joked.
"I'm serious," he said, "I don't trust her."
"You're just being ridiculous."
...
Hestia did ask me to do some favors for her, like watching her cat, getting her broom, and even doing her homework. I know she can do those things herself, but I'm just happy to do it.
"Are you her girlfriend or her assistant," John asks.
"I'm sure she'll return the favor to me," I said.
"She's taking advantage of you."
"As my best friend, I thought you'd be more supportive of me!"
"I just don't think..."
"That's right, you don't!" I then walked away.
...
I decided to see Hestia, but then I heard her talking to her friend, Bertha Jorkins.
"You got her eating out of your hands," Bertha says.
"It was too easy," says Hestia.
I had no idea what they were talking about.
"Do you think she'll ever realize you have a boyfriend," asks Bertha.
What?
"I doubt it," says Hestia, "that Midgeon girl is too stupid. She actually thinks I love her."
John was right. Hestia has been using me the whole time. I then got out my wand and turned them both into ferrets.
...
I apologized to John and admitted he was right. Then, we met Hestia's boyfriend. It seems he had no idea what she was doing. He then broke up with her and started hanging with John and me. I know that sounds awkward, but we did bond over our anger towards Hestia. Anyway, I learned my lesson. I'm not just going to trust someone based on their looks.
"Hi, I'm Winky Gaunt, mind if I sit here?"
She was even more beautiful than Hestia.
