Once he was sure that he had successfully escaped from the heroes, Renegade crouched on a rooftop and brought a hand to an earpiece. "Lady Shiva and Cheshire. Report."
For a moment he heard sounds of fighting in the background and a male cry of pain before all noise ceased, giving way to silence. "Just finished killing the last mobster." Cheshire spoke, her breathing labored.
"As you ordered us we first made a massacre at the Red Shark base where they were trafficking human beings and sexually abusing them." Lady Shiva began to give him a well-detailed report on their situation. "Subsequently we also cleaned up in their other base where they were involved in arms trafficking which we destroyed all of them completely."
"We killed every single mobster involved in the organization and none of them managed to escape. They are all dead." Cheshire continued, mirroring the professional voice of her friend and partner. "As for the victims, we contacted the local authorities and waited in a hidden corner to make sure they were in good hands before heading to the other base."
"Both good work."
"How is your situation?"
"Killed all the mobsters, including Bestial Dragon." the mercenary answered his older sister's question. "From his computer I made a copy of all useful information and evidence incriminating several U.S. ministers of treason and corruption."
"I knew there was someone corrupt." the world's deadliest woman murmured. "It was virtually impossible for them to steal information so important to U.S. security."
"I bet you caused a bloodbath." Sportsmaster's daughter speculated.
"You bet right. I let myself go but just a little bit."
"And that means there is nothing left of the mobsters but pulped flesh and lots of organs and guts scattered all over their base." Lady Shiva snorted, letting slight amusement shine through.
"Yeah, well, just enough to traumatize the Justice League." stated the acrobat casually.
"WHAT?"
Their simultaneous scream forced Dick to wince slightly at the excessive noise in his poor ear. "You heard right. I had a pleasant visit from the seven founding members." he hummed as if he had not just dropped a bombshell on the two assassins. He then chuckled. "It was child's play to escape from them."
"What the hell are the heroes doing here?" Cheshire asked only to retract her question. "No wait, I have a better question: how the hell did they learn about the Red Sharks' main base?"
"Maybe it was Batman or someone high up in the U.S. government. I don't know." the Talon answered honestly. "In any case, I advise you to get away from your position immediately and meet us back at the hotel. I don't want to risk them finding out that you are there."
"We are moving now." Lady Shiva grunted.
"I recommend keeping radio silence. Batman should not be able to hack our communications since I have personally taken care of their defenses but I don't want to risk Superman with his super hearing recognizing my voice."
Two grunts of assent resounded in the young assassin's ear and silence fell in the communications, which died down. Renegade rose to his feet and ran from rooftop to rooftop, heading for their appointed place.
The three assassins gathered in their hotel room. Dick felt his eyes turn golden when he saw Jade's left shoulder bandaged and Sandra favoring her right leg, in addition to their different wounds on their bodies, and again he cursed the fact that he was the one with an excellent healing factor and not them. He calmed down almost immediately with the knowledge that the bastards who wounded them were now in Hell and after they were dressed in their night clothes Dick told them about his encounter with the heroes.
"Unbelievable. I knew Wayne was stubborn but damn I didn't think so much." Sandra huffed crossing her arms.
Dick rolled his eyes. "And everyone calls me stubborn."
Jade gave him a gentle nudge to his shoulders. "Please. You are literally the most stubborn person I have ever met."
"It's an honor, sis."
"That was not a compliment."
"I know." replied the acrobat cheekily, giggling at the mock annoyed looks of the other two assassins. His gaze softened a little as he looked at them. "Get some sleep. You need it so much. We've been out for more than four hours." he said, not having missed the tiredness shining through the two women despite the fact that they did their best to hide it.
Obviously both women were capable of staying awake for a long time consecutively but why waste any more energy when their mission had been completed?
His older sister nodded. "Now that's an idea I don't mind." she agreed, throwing herself onto the soft bed and letting out a dramatically blissful sigh.
Sandra's gaze stared intently at her nephew, narrowing her eyes analytically. "What are you going to do while we sleep?"
Dick sent her an amused look, not surprised at how his aunt knew him so well. "Hack the servers of all the terrorist organizations and enemy states of the U.S. that have bought information from the Red Sharks."
A muffled snort came from Jade's direction and the Talon stared at her as she sat down on the bed. "How long will it take you?"
"Thirty minutes minimum both to make sure I leave no trace of information on their servers and because the number of servers to hack is quite large." Dick grimaced. "Apparently the Red Sharks had a lot of customers."
The three friends and partners chatted for a few more minutes -with even some teasing toward the acrobat for seeing Wonder Woman again, much to the displeasure of the youngest- before Jade and Sandra began to sleep, respectively on the bed and couch. Dick sat on the other end of the bed, preventing the bright light of his holographic glove from waking or bothering his older sister, and quickly began hacking the first server of a terrorist organization, letting his mind wander a bit as his fingers moved automatically.
The mission was easier and faster than he expected despite the fact that it involved permanently taking down one of the most dangerous and powerful mafias in the world.
Or the mission was still very dangerous and difficult but Dick was too skilled and effective to the point that he could not recognize the danger level of a mission, believing all of them to be practically easy.
Either way, the mission was a success and that was all that mattered.
As for the traitor and corrupt U.S. ministers, Dick thought the heroes would take care of them and have them arrested, although he did not know whether the JL would tell the government that it was actually Renegade who had completely destroyed the Red Sharks in a very violent way or not.
The Talon hoped so: at least then his reputation as a ruthless and cruel anti-hero mercenary would further skyrocket, giving him more publicity and increasing the rumors about him being even more ruthless and violent than his former mentor, to Dick's amusement and Slade's displeasure.
And it would also probably have avoided potential diplomatic dangers.
Eventually Dick finished his work and nodded contentedly to himself. He stowed his holographic glove along with the rest of his Renegade suit and then lay down on the bed, quietly covering himself with the blankets without waking Jade. He stiffened when she turned to his side but he relaxed his muscles when he noticed that she was still asleep.
Wanting some cuddling from his older sister Dick hugged her carefully over her wounds and, making sure once again that he had not woken her up, he snuggled against her, sighing contentedly when automatically Jade returned the embrace by snuggling against him.
Comforted by the warmth that only his older sister could give him Dick closed his eyes in an attempt to fall asleep, hoping that he would not have one of his usual nightmares or anyone new.
Fortunately Dick did not have any nightmares but his dream was centered on a familiar Amazon beauty.
It was definitely his Aunt Sandra's fault.
Dick smiled sweetly when he realized that both Joey and Rose had fallen asleep on him after they had spent an entire afternoon together. He moved to pick up the remote control, careful not to wake his little siblings, and began lazily flipping through the channels, turning down the sound of the television. A few seconds later he came across a news report that was showing his masked face and he listened curiously with his enhanced hearing.
The acrobat learned that it had become public knowledge both the arrest for treason and corruption of U.S. ministers through evidence provided by the Justice League to the government and the destruction of the powerful Russian Red Sharks mafia at the hands of Renegade with vague details of what had happened but hinting that the mercenary's methods were very violent, inhuman and cruel.
Dick made a mental note to check later through his holographic glove to see if the U.S. government had come into possession of any photos about the massacre and bloodbath he had carried out: which was very likely, he thought.
The assassin reached for his phone when it rang several times and huffed with amusement when he saw that Jade and Sandra had sent him messages expressing their displeasure and annoyance that Renegade had taken all the credit for taking down the Red Sharks. With a smile between his lips he sent a quick reply to both of them before putting the phone back in his pocket and changing the TV channel, content to act as a pillow for his little siblings.
