Later that day, Max, Stacy, Bobby and his kids went out to play golf. Bobby had put the tee into the ground, put the ball on the tee and for some reason, he backed up and got in his hitting position and then he started moving forward and swinging but missed the ball and the kids started laughing.
Max was just sitting there with sunglasses on him but still has a confused look on his face. "That's the stupidest-looking I've ever seen," he said.
"I'm going to take a Molokai on that one." Bobby said before picking up the golf ball and throwing it to the course.
"Hey, no throwing, c'mon." Max said as the kids laughed again.
"Stop laughing. Let's see what y'all got. C'mon show your dad what he got." Bobby said as his kids all at once put their tees onto the ground and then put their balls on their tees and then they hit their balls far enough to the next hill where the hole is and close to the hole. The kids giggled as they went back to their position and Bobby was looking jealous.
"Y'all suck…" Bobby said with jealousy.
"Father of the year strikes again." Max joked as he went to put his tee onto the ground and his ball on the tee.
"Oh, Max. By the way, I met this sexy, blonde tax attorney at Starbucks today and I told her you're the kahuna and she wants to have fun on this island…" Bobby said as he pulled out a folded piece of paper. "You want her number?"
"Are you pimping on tourists for me again?" Max asked in annoyance.
"Yes, I live vicariously through you, remember? My life sucks. Now, c'mon. Give her the Waikikiki sneaky between the cheeky." Bobby said. "Ula needs it. I imagine I did it and then I can get through another weekend." He said.
"I'm staying in, sorry. But thank you though." Max said.
"What?!" Bobby exclaimed.
"Hey dad." one kid said.
"Not now, son." Bobby said to his kid.
"But your stitches are bleeding." Kid said.
Bobby looked at his stitches and there was blood coming out and the kids were grossed out. "It must've been my huge back-swing." Bobby said. "Max, you think you can stitch me up after I get back from surfing?" Bobby asked Max.
"Yeah, looking forward to it." Max said as he got into position to swing his club.
"You know, I wouldn't surf with a bleeding wound like that." Stacy said. "You might attract a shark or something."
"What's wrong with that? Sharks are normally peaceful." Bobby said.
"Is that so?" Stacy said as Max was starting to get annoyed by them talking while trying to focus on the game. "How'd you get that nasty cut, anyway?" Stacy asked.
"A shark bit me." Bobby said.
"Oh…" Stacy said before grabbing Bobby's golf club. "Let's go smoke another one." she said as she walked away and Bobby looked back at her.
"I'm telling you, that shark theory is starting to catch on. Now will everybody please keep it down while I whack the crap out of this ball." Max said before he swings and hits his ball. It managed to make it to the next hill but then fell off the course.
"NOOO!" Max yelled.
Few minutes later, Max was down by the bench where all the rocks are, looking for his ball. "Where the hell is it?" Max said to himself as he continued looking for his body.
"Looking for something?" a lady called out. Max was in shock and awe as he saw Roxanne in her white dress just above the knees, holding his golf ball as he walked up to him.
"Oh my god…"Max said as he was in awe at the way she was dressed. "What are you doing here?"
"The same reason you are. Looking for my ball." Roxanne said with a lovely smile.
Max was trying to keep his composer. "Wow…this is weird. I've been thinking about you all morning, all day." Max said. "I can't wait to have breakfast with you again."
"I know, I just wanna eat you up." Roxanne said as she started walking closer to Max.
"Really?" Max said with a smile as he backed up.
"Yeah. Tomorrow and the next day and the next day and the next day…" Roxanne said while still walking closer to Max. He eventually tripped and fell backwards and then Roxanne got on top of him and kissed him on the lips.
"Oh Roxanne, that feels so good…my nipples are too sensitive…" Max said before he started hearing kids laughing and it suddenly went black. Max takes off his sunglasses and sees Bobby and the kids looking down on him and laughing at him. "What happened?
"Your ball got hooked into that cart, bounced back and hit you in the head. It was freaking hilarious." Bobby said as him and the kids continued laughing at Max.
"Who's Roxanne and what's up with your nipples?" one kid asked and then everyone else continued laughing as Max sit up.
"I can't be falling for a local, I'm never going back to that diner." Max said.
"Is this where you got hit?" Bobby asked as he put pressure on his bump using his finger, which caused pain to Max as he yells in pain.
"Yes!" Max yelled as the kids giggled.
Later that night, Max had made a promise to not go back to the diner and not meet Roxanne so he ended up going out for dinner with the tax attorney Bobby hooked him up with. They were now at a pirate themed restaurant. The tax attorney's name was Noreen and she had a fishbowl full of a non-alcoholic drink.
"You're so lucky you're a professional cliff diver in Hawaii." Noreen said.
"Yeah, well, it's for a living." Max said.
"I'm a tax attorney, we never get to have any fun." Noreen said. "I'd like to do something extra fun tonight." she said as she started drinking her drink pretty quick, not knowing it's non-alcoholic.
Noreen continues drinking her drink really quick, so quick Max can see the drink shrinking through the fishbowl. Eventually, she got done with her drink.
"Taking it deep, aren't you?" Max said with a smile. "How about another fishbowl for the lady?" Max yelled to a nearby waiter.
"Why don't I just tap a keg for her?" the waiter said.
Max just shrugs his shoulders. "Okay." He said.
"I think I'm getting kind of drunk. Are you getting drunk?" Noreen asked.
"Getting there." Max lied with a smile.
"So, what are you thinking about now?" Noreen asked.
"What am I thinking?" Max asks himself and then he continues thinking about Roxanne. It seems like no matter how much he tries, he continues to think about Roxanne, it's almost like his heart is meant for her. He simply sighs, looking at Noreen. "I'm…actually not drunk at all, Noreen, and neither of you…because there's no alcohol in these drinks. Sadly, I've used this technique many times. It helps lovely tourists, such as yourself, loosen up without impairing your ability to stay awake…and have guilt-free, vigorous sex with me." he confessed.
Noreen was in disbelief. "Wow…" she said.
"I'm sorry, I'm not a cliff diver, either…I'm afraid of heights…" Max admitted.
"Well, since it's my last night in town,...can I pretend you didn't just say that and still have sex with you anyways?" Noreen said before smiling again.
"I can't do it, I'm sorry." Max said as he pulled out his wallet.
"Well, can you at least point me in the direction of someone who can?" Noreen asked.
"Uh, that guy over there could help you out." Max said as he pointed at someone behind Noreen.
She turned around and saw Stacy, smiling and waving at her and then looked back at Max with a confused look. "Isn't that a woman?" She asked.
"You know, I'm actually not sure…but you're too drunk to notice, remember?" Max said as he put money on the table and walked away.
Noreen was left at the table and just shrugs his shoulders and then gets up and goes to Stacy.
"The next morning, Max arrived at the diner as it was raining outside and uses his jacket as an umbrella and then went inside the diner and sit at a bar stool.
"Hey, you. Ahola." Sue said as she went up to Max.
"Ahola." Max said back to Sue.
"Not ahola "hello", ahola "goodbye." Sue said. "We're closed today. Go away." she said as a waiter walks past them with a tray of food. Max was looking confused.
"What are you talking about?" Max asked.
A bell ding from the kitchen as Pete brings the next order of food from the kitchen. "Order up!" Pete says before putting the food down and walking away.
Sue rolled his eyes. "Don't move. I have to talk to you." She said before walking away.
Max still looked confused. "Okay." he said. "Hey, Pete." he said as he waved at Pete.
"Hey, Peanut Butter Cups." Pete said.
Roxanne walks in the diner with a coat. As she took off her coat, she was wearing the same clothes from yesterday. She then walked past Max and went to her seat at the booth. Max smiles, seeing Roxanne as he walks up to her, reading her book.
"Hi." Max said with a smile.
"Hi." Roxanne responds before getting back to her book.
"So, my fingers are extra fishy today, if you care to take a whiff" Max said as he sat across from Roxanne.
Roxanne looked confused as she slowly closed her book. "What was that?" she said.
"I was petting my walrus all morning and thinking of you the whole time." Max said with a chuckle.
"Okay pervert. I think you should leave." Roxanne said nervously.
"What?" Max said. "I was just joking because of what we talked about yesterday." Max said.
"Yesterday…? I've never even met you!" Roxanne said before getting up and walking behind the bar. "Pete, I need help!"
"Wait!" Max said, following Roxanne, wondering what he did wrong.
"Coming, Roxanne." Pete says as he grabs a huge knife.
"Pete, put that away. I'll handle it." Sue said as she grabbed Max by the arm and dragged him out of the diner.
"Wait, I- I was just kidding around with you!" Max screams to Roxanne but she ignores him and walks back to her booth. When Sue takes Max outside, they just stand at the front door.
"What's going on here!? Is she crazy or something?" Max exclaimed.
"Look, Roxanne is a very special person. Very different from other people." Sue said.
"What do you mean?" Max asked.
"About a year ago, Roxanne was in a terrible car accident. She and her father went up North Shore to get a pineapple…"
Roxanne was riding the passenger seat, holding the pineapple as her dad turns on the radio and music starts playing from the radio. Her dad looks at Roxanne, smiling, not paying attention on the road while Roxanne looks back at him, smiling. When her dad looks back on the road, his eyes widen as there was a cow on the road, he turns his steering wheel aggressively, losing control and then the car hits a tree, leaving them unconscious.
"Her father broke some ribs, but Roxanne suffered a serious head injury. She lost her short-term memory." Sue said.
"So she can't remember anything?" Max asked.
"No, she still has all of her long-term memory. That's a different part of her brain." Sue said. "Her whole, up to the night before the accident, she remembers. She just can't retain any new information. It's like…her slate gets wiped clean every night while she sleeps." She said.
"Hold on." Max said. "This sounds like something I would tell a psycho girl so she'd stop calling. Am I the psycho girl?"
"I wish I was making this up. She has no memory that she has ever met you." Sue said.
"Well, what about the pineapple-picking thing?" Max asked.
"She says that every day because each morning, she wakes up, thinking it's October 13th of last year. She comes for breakfast because that's why she does on Sundays and October 13th was on a Sunday. She has no idea it's been more than a year later." Sue said.
"But she reads the newspaper, though." Max said.
"It's a special paper her father puts on the porch, it's from the day of the accident. He got hundreds of them." Sue said. "Roxanne does the same thing every day."
On the other side of the island, there was Roxanne's house, which was a big yellow house with a big dock on the ocean behind the home. Roxanne has just arrived home as she walks inside. "Hello!" she yelled, checking if anyone was home.
"Back here." Her dad yelled from the kitchen.
Roxanne walks to the back of the house, where the kitchen is. "Hey, dad." She said.
"Hi, sweetie." Her dad said as he turned to Roxanne, holding a pineapple.
Roxanne saw the pineapple and started to frown. "You got one…without me…" she said, disappointed.
"Well, the lady at the farmer's market gave it to me as a birthday present. I didn't want to hurt your feelings" Her dad said.
Roxanne smiles back as she takes the pineapple. "I think she likes you." she said.
"Yeah, what's not to like?" Her dad said.
"Well, what about our tradition?" Roxanne asked.
"Well, I have another idea." Her dad said. "I painted my workshop yesterday."
"White. Now it's too white. Gives me a headache." They were now in the workshop and it was completely white and the painting stuff was already out.
"Oh, yeah you definitely need some color here." Roxanne said.
"Well, you know, that's what I was thinking…" Her dad said.
Roxanne smiled as he understood why he wanted her to do it. "Really?" She asked.
"Go one. Go nuts. Paint something for my birthday." He said.
"I will," Roxanne said as she walked closer to her dad. "And promise that we can pick a pineapple for Thanksgiving, okay?"
"Sounds great." Her dad said.
"Okay." Roxanne said before turning around and then turned back around. "Hey, you should watch the Cowboys game while I'm painting."
"Good idea." Her dad said softly as he watched her daughter starting painting as he has to deal with her short-term memory.
Inside the house, Doug was wearing a red tank top while sitting on the kitchen counter and lifting one weight. Dad walked back inside through the back door.
"What are we eating tonight, Doug?" Dad asked.
Doug lifted up a lid from the pot that was boiling spaghetti noodles. "Spaghetti, Pops." He answered.
"Try not to sweat on the sauce." Dad said as Doug's arm was indeed sweating and his sweating arm was above another pot that was the sauce he just got done making. He quickly moved his arm away.
"Sorry, pops." Doug said as he continued lifting weight.
Dad then grabbed a box on the top of the fridge, opened it and the grab the VCR tape that shows the Dallas Cowboys game against the Chicago Bears and went to the living room to get it set up.
"Go Cowboys…" Doug said as he continued lifting weight.
Few hours later, Dad was playing solitaire in the living room while Doug was also in the living room, reading a magazine. Dad hears her daughter coming from outside of the back door and then he quickly turns on the TV and shows the Cowboys game. Roxanne walked in and went to the living room.
"Hey, you guys." Roxanne said.
"Hey sweetie. How's the painting coming?" Dad asked.
"You'll see." Roxanne said with a smile and then turned to the TV. "Oh, what's the score?"
"The Cowboys are on the 5-yard line, if they score here, they'll make it 7-13." Dad said.
"Maybe they'll win on your birthday." Roxanne said with a smile and then turned to Doug. "And I bet Jones runs it."
"I'll bet he fakes a handoff to Jones and then throws it to Johnson. Loser does the kitchen." Doug said.
"You're on." Roxanne said as they both shook hands and the Dad was not happy about it because Doug does this to Roxanne every time.
The TV shows the quarterback spiked the ball and then he did a fake handoff and then passed it to Johnson for the touchdown.
Roxanne looked impressed. "You're good…maybe you should be a coach." Roxanne said as she gets up and walks out of the room and Doug was just smiling. Dad waited for Roxanne to fully walked out of the room and then take one of his filp flop and throws it at Doug.
"Ow, Dad!" Doug said.
"Moron." Dad said.
"That hurt." Doug said as he continues reading his magazine.
Later that night, Roxanne and Doug was singing Happy Birthday to their Dad as she brings the cake with candles lighten and set it on the table. After they sang, Dad blows out their candles out and then Roxanne and Doug applause to their dad.
"And you don't look a day over 25." Roxanne complimented.
"Yeah, right, and Doug's muscles aren't pharmaceutically enhanced." Dad said.
"What are you talking? I use an herb supplement that can be purchased at any health-food store." Doug said. "Check out these glutes." He turned around and started flexing and clenching on his butt. "Rock-hard, baby. Pretty sweet, huh?"
"Stop it!" You're gonna make me throw up on the cake." Dad complained.
"Okay, just open your present." Roxanne said as she handed her a small gift wrapped up in wrapping paper. Dad then starts unwrapping his gift and it was The Sixth Sense VCR movie."
"Hey, The Sixth Sense. Thank you very much." Dad said.
"You're welcome." Roxanne said. "Hey! When I'm done washing the dishes, do you guys want to watch it?"
"Sure…" Both Dad and Doug said with a fake smile.
Eventually, after she did the dishes, Roxanne, Doug and their dad sat down and watched The Sixth Sense…Well, at least Roxanne. Both Doug and Dad were asleep but Dad did wake up a little and take a look at Roxanne and sees she's enjoying the movie. After the movie was over, Roxanne was heading towards the stairways and Doug and their Dad were following them.
"I can't believe it. Bruce Willis is a ghost, I'm just shocked." Roxanne exclaimed. "Did y'all see that coming?" she asked.
"No, not at all." Dad lied.
"Shocked as hell." Doug lied as well.
"Anyways, tonight was awesome. Happy Birthday." Roxanne said to her dad.
"Love you sis." Doug said as they hugged each other.
"Oooh, your muscles are getting so big, I can barely wrap my arms around you." Roxanne said.
"You like that? Check this out?" Doug said before making his chest pecs move.
Roxanne giggled.
"Okay, okay! Enough with the titty dance." Dad said. "Let your sister sleep."
"I like it." Roxanne said as she walked up upstairs.
"Good night." Dad said to Roxanne.
"Good night." Roxanne said at the top of the stairs before walking in her room.
Dad and Doug looked back at each other and then they both signed. They then went to erase and/or throw everything that has happened today and get prepared for tomorrow. For example, Dad put The Sixth Sense VCR movie back in its case and then wrapped the case back up, Doug threw away the birthday cake, Dad grabbed a stack of old newspapers of the day of the accident. And then finally, they both went to the stack and saw Roxanne's painting creative art on the walls and they both signed as they started to grab paint brushes and paint over the art in white.
In the original script for this movie, it was the Vikings, instead of Cowboys. The reason I changed is because mainly it's my remake and I'm also a huge Cowboys fans. Sometimes, it can be a good thing but it can also be a bad thing.
