Chapter 9: An Audience with the Princess

"Goodness me, you're much better than I expected. I can see your suit is serious," The ghost guard says, "I permit you an audience with the princess. You may pass!"

And with that the group walks into the campus to meet with the princess.

Soon enough, they arrive at the cafeteria where the wedding venue is. There, they meet Princess Eliza.

Seeing them, Eliza asks, "Are you the ones who seek my hand?"

"There she is! So that's the Ghost Bride who nabbed Idia," Jack says.

"I appreciate you coming all this way, but I'm afraid I have to apologize," Eliza says, "You see, there's this lovely man named Idia, and we've already promised ourselves to each other. He's tall, with an air of nonchalance… His skin is luminous, his lidded eyes dignified. Oh, and he has the most charming smile that he reserves just for me. His hair is so vibrant it burns! And he's got the loveliest lips, which are a color I've never seen before. He's positively dashing. Perfect in every way!"

"Weirdly, I can't say that description DOESN'T match Idia," Trey replies.

"Your attentions flatter me, but compared to my darling Idia, you're—" Rliza says

And suddenly Vil & Leona say, "Obviously superior!"

"Looks like they've lost sight of our objective," Jade says.

Seeing there is no way out of it, Eliza says, "Oh well, if you INSIST. Fine, I suppose I can see if any of you are fit to be my husband. Let's start with you—the rugged one with the cute ears."

"You're talkin' to me, right?" Leona questions with a frown.

And he soon says, "Okay, yeah, hey. I'm Leona Kingscholar. Go ahead and test me. I'm your guy, guaranteed," and soon end it right there.

"Ahem…" Eliza calmly says.

And soon, she begins to sing.

Eliza:

Would you believe how long I've waited?

"...Huh?" Leona says.

Eliza continues to sing.

Eliza:

I've waited for so very long!

Leona reacts in shock, "Bwha?"

Eliza:

For a glimpse of that tender smile... From youuuuuu!

Leona is very dumbfounded, "I am so lost."

Eliza remains silent.

"Why's she burstin' into song? Is choosing one of us too much for her?" Leona questions.

Suddenly, Eliza shouts, "YOU'RE OUT!" And slaps Leona in the face.

Leona screams, "OWW!"

"Why did the ghost suddenly slap him?!" Sebek exclaims in shock.

And then Eliza says, "Unbelievable. A princess was singing right in front of you, and you wouldn't even join her for a duet! You're no prince at all!"

"Eesh, and Leona's the only actual prince in our group…" Jack says.

"Next!" Eliza calls out, and turns to Vil, "You there, with the pretty blond hair."

Vil introduces himself, "Hey there. The name's Vil Schoenheit."

"All righty…" Eliza says and warms herself up, "Ahem!"

And with that, Eliza begins singing again.

Eliza:

Would you believe how long I've waited?

Vil decides to sing along.

Vil:

Waiting for me all this time!

Eliza:

I've waited for so very long!

Vil:

My feelings won't steer me wrong!

Eliza

For a glimpse of that tender smile…

Eliza and Vil:

From youuuuuu!

"Is he actually SINGING ALONG with some random ghost tune none of us have heard before?" Sebek asks, confused.

"And harmonizing perfectly, I might add," Jade says.

'I could serenade you forever. That's the least I could do for someone whose love I seek," Vil says.

"How very charming!" Eliza says.

She then asks, "Now, what's your dog's name?"

This has Vil confused, "Why are you asking about dogs? For one thing, I live in a dorm. Of course I don't have a dog—"

And Eliza shouts, "YOU'RE OUT!" And slaps Vil too in the face.

Vil cries out, "OWW! I don't believe this! Have you ANY inkling how valuable my face is?!"

"Ah, there's the Vil we know," Jack says.

"Anybody'd break character if they got turbo-slapped like that," Floyd says.

And then Eliza says, "You're no prince in MY book if you don't have a big dog who'll come running when you whistle for help."

"She's got a very narrow view of what princes are," Trey responds.

He then asks, "Leona? Vil? You two okay?"

Vil & Leona however, struggle to move, "Ah... Ah…"

"What's wrong? You're both freezing up. Did she slap you that hard?" Trey asks.

Vil & Leona cry out, "I CAN'T MOVE!"

"What?!" Trey asks.
