Chapter 4: Love X Mark

The three of us were going down the streets of Yorknew, quickly catching the eye of several people we crossed. "Psst, you think they look a bit too young to be close to him like that?" I heard, "Dont worry, hon. That's their big brother" her husband said. Is there really that many adults that're just here? Whatever that's about. We did see some hoodlums try to approach us, but with a flicker of my Aura, they all just run away. Biscuit did her share of that as well while holding my arm with a smile. Seems she's a very strong Hunter if she trained Gon and Killua to take on the Ants...And her..Grip's getting too tight...! "H-hey..M-mind easing up? - ;;;" I asked, "Whoops. *lets go of my hand; giggles* Sorry, I got carried away there, didnt I? u" Biscuit replied. Geez...Has it been a decade or so since she's dated? Unbelievable...Well we're at the place now. After we waited in line for a bit over 30 minutes, we were finally up next. "Here, lemme pay for the night" I insisted, "You dont mind? Ooooooo what a gentleman! You must be rich too! u" she gratified while flustered, "You're easier than I thought e e... *sees her turn this way with a grimace look* I-I didnt say anything. Dont mind me! ^ ^;" Killua said, "(I dunno who'd I rather be with...This is why Im giving dating a break. These women just aint for me) *walks up to the counter* Hey, how's goin'? We got a room for three? I just want a night down for us" I requested, "Why yes we do, sir! That'll be 8000 Jenni! ^ ^" the desk lady told me, "(Fair enough) No prob. *gives her the card, and she scans it through her card reader; has the card returned from her* Much appreciated. What room?" I asked, "*opens up drawer, gives me a key and door card* Your room is written on here and use the key to enter, ok? Have a nice day" she said before I take the card and key. I gesture the two Hunters I was with over to follow me and they did so. I've stayed at hotels like this before, and the room numbers should be on...The elevator panels. Good, they're still there. And we're looking for...Room B20. Since they're numbered from 1 to 20 and the A rooms stop at Room 10, looks like we got the top floor. I press the down arrow, and the sliding doors open in front of us then after we entered I press the floor button for B20, making us ascend in no time. Everything was going pretty smoothly and these little guys were waiting patiently with me so we can talk in private. If only I could've got a better disguise for Pitou so I could do this with her. N-not that I'd want to for...Intimate purposes -v-;...Just to relax. "{Hey there! Did you miss Pommy? ⓪U⓪}" I heard in my head, "! (What the hell?! Wha...What're you doing in my head?!)" I mentally react, "{*giggles with a deeper tone* You still have remnants of echos in you...I can still locate you..I just need to get closer and I can have you all to myself again...Unfortunately your mix of brainwaves and vibrations are faint ⓪ ⓪}" she told me, "(So you can still hear me..Dammit..I gotta find a way to get rid of her vibrations..I can barely feel any of them too)" I was thinking to myself, followed by her haunting giggles that were swimming in my head. "*looks over to me, seeing my fists shake with a stressed look on my face* Umm..Are you ok? You look like you've seen a ghost" Biscuit asked, "! Oh. I-I did? Uh..Dont worry about it. Im alright" I told her, "You sure dont sound like it" Killua pointed out, "...We'll talk about it when we get to the room" I replied, "I cant wait either. You kinda reek and it's not just the sweat -v-" she told me, "Fine..I was planning to bathe anyway" I replied and agreed, "{By the -ay...Th-e's anoth-r cr...ure c...ing to you- rea. So I wouldn't st-y long}" I was warned mentally. Now that's strange...She's cutting off here and there, as if we were having bad connection through phones..I dunno what'd cause that interference but I think it's worth figuring out. Guess I might as well tell them about her and how she's trying to find me. We shortly enter our room in the middle of the hallway. There were two doors on opposite ends of each other too. One was locked and the other wasnt, yet they had the same room number to 'em. Guess this is how they're cutting corners. Anyways, room's not too bad. Seeing two beds, a TV and bathroom has always been welcoming to me. I can make do with the mini-fridge too. We went ahead and sat down on the beds, giving ourselves a breather.

"[Biscuit] *lays back on the bed, stretches out* Ahhhhh~ I really needed this break _n_..There was so much trouble we had to deal with today."

"No kidding...It felt like one thing after another for me too...So y'all were dealing with some Dark Continent creatures too?"

"[Killua] ! So they really were from the Dark Continent..Now wonder we had our works cut out for us."

"How many were you able to kill?"

"[Killua] Hmmm maybe one or two. We had help from other Hunters here and there but even if you do kill them, most of them get their Post-Mortem Nen boosts. We have to run away when that happens."

"Yeah...I was only able to take out one that used it against me.."

"[Biscuit] But your Nen is very good against them, right? How does it work?"

"Had a feeling you'd be curious. Y'see..Fake Fissure can let me warp to someone or to a space within a certain distance. A target loses some Aura but it's negligible. Then my Death Core lets me kill anything with a punch, but the chances of it killing is low."

"[Biscuit] *gasps* That's sooo good! You're just the person to take care of these things! ^u^"

"I wouldn't get too carried away. It does take quite a bit of Aura to use back to back. I'd say I got 7 uses of it before Im tapped out. Missing is a big issue too."

"[Killua] You sound like an Enhancer. Possibly a bit of a Specialist?"

"I guess that's close enough."

"[Biscuit] So you're trying to be a Specialist? Good luck with that."

"So..How many of those creatures did you guys face?"

"[Killua] Five...They all gave us a run for our money."

"[Biscuit] Someone's behind this, right?! I'll knock whoever it is into next week! oVo"

"...What if I told y'all I've encountered one of them?"

"[Killua & Biscuit] YOU DID?!"

"Believe it or not...These guys seem to be a terrorist organization of Dark Continent beast tamers. I've been investigating them recently. They seem to be bringing them over to dominate our regions. Even worse...They're stronger than the creatures I've fought so far..."

"[Biscuit] ! N-...No way! No one can possibly beat any of them!"

"[Killua] And you managed to survive against one of 'em?"

"Well..She saw that I wasnt worth killing. Apparently their plans are bigger than taking me out."

"[Killua] (I dunno...There's something fishy about this. His Nen's impressive but he shouldn't even last a second if they're this strong.)"

"Said you knew about Gon, right? Mind telling me more about him? I heard about him being out there during the Ant attacks."

"[Killua]...We..Had a fight..I saved him from one of the Chimera Ant King's Royal Guards. He tried to kill me...Once our fight took place in a city, Paristan, one of the Association's Zodiacs..He stopped us. Then he ended up taking Gon away after knocking him out."

"Huh...Im sure you didnt appreciate that."

"[Killua] I'll make him pay...He threatened to take my license away if I didnt let him take Gon away..He told me nothing else after that. Then one of the other higher-ups had us go out and look into this whole situation too."

"I already dont trust that guy...I guess Gon was really strong for his age?"

"[Biscuit] You have to be so you can be a Hunter, but Gon's very special. Have you ever heard of Ging Freeces?"

"Ging...Where've I heard that.."

"[Biscuit] Really? Well I wouldn't blame you since he really doesnt try to get his name out there, but he's one of the people that made it back from the Dark Continent."

"! A-are you serious? He must be incredibly strong."

"[Killua] Gon inherited a good amount of his strength but he wouldn't be able to compare. You'd have to be that monstrously powerful to get anywhere in the Dark Continent."

"(I see then...So Gon is that impressive eh...I'd wanna see where I can find Ging and train under him.)"

"[Biscuit] If you're planning to go up there yourself, I'd recommend looking for Knuckle. They say he's been through 100s of battles and he did really good against Gon and Killua."

"Really? I guess it's another guy I can look into. I have someone Im supposed to be getting back to training with but the more the merrier."

"[Killua] *yawns* Im getting a bit tired..I feel like napping.."

"[Biscuit] *hops off the bed* I'll go ahead and run your bath."

"Alright. Just gimme a minute" I replied and she went in the restroom. I really wish I could travel with these guys...Spending the night here would be great too...Unfortunately I cant due to this new Nen Im dealing with..Because of it, sleeping anywhere is even a scary thought. Im effectively cursed with it, even if I could kill Pitou...What do I do? Biscuit seems to be a really experienced Hunter. Maybe she might have an idea or two. I walked to the restroom and opened the door...And when I did..I saw her undoing her bra while facing the tub. "...Umm..I thought the bath was for me...o/o" I said, "Eeek! *turns to me while covered* Y-you could've knocked! /V/" she shouted, "W-well what happened with this being for me?" I asked, "I...Kinda changed my mind..I wanted to share the bath with you..The bed was fine but I feel like I need this ...But no touching, got it?! oVo" Biscuit told me, "A-alright then..Not that..I was going to anyway..I'll let you step in first so I'll turn away" I replied, "Y-you better../ (Oooooh~ He's really tempting me to let him with how gentlemanly he is~3 I dont find ever find men like him these days /o/)" she then reacted to herself. After a moment of undressing, Biscuit sat herself in the warm tub, relaxed, followed by a long sigh of relief. "(This is more like it...-/-) Ok...You can come in now" she told me. I took off my clothes as well, which...Now that I think about it. These are new clothes. These purple stripe patterns on the shirt...They're really growing on me. I guess so much that I didnt even notice. Pitou must've gotten them for me when I was out cold..Once I put my underwear on the counter next to the sink I notice Biscuit was bright red and her face dug into her hands. Oh boy..It really has been that long for her huh? I dunno how Imma make this easier so I'll just..Step it.

"*hears me getting in the water as the waters shift around, heart pounds faster* (Oooooooooh he's in the tub with me! WhatdoIdoWhatdoIdoWhatDoI- / ) *DEEPLY BREATHES* (Cmon Bisky! You can do this! He hasn't even found you attractive!) *opens eyes a bit, seeing me close my eyes; sees me re-open them after a moment as I stare in the water* (He...I cant believe how relaxed he is..At least he's not some pervy creep like most guys these days) H-hey uhhh.."

"*looks at her* Hmm?"

"Umm...How..Do..Are there any girls you've been with? ^/^"

"Why you ask?"

"(Oh no he didnt like that I asked! ;) J-just curious is all.. "

"Well if you really wanna know...Just one..."

"WAIT WHAT?! T-THERE'S NO WAY YOU CAN BE THIS CALM AFTER BEING WITH ONE GIRL! OoO;;"

"Maybe...But I rather not talk about it.."

"Sorry...Let's just say she's why I became an Ex-Hunter.."

"Well I aint out of the woods yet...I got alot of problems Im dealing with.."

"What if I told you...That my Nen could've healed you much better than us bathing together? -u-"

"S-so you've set this up from the start?"

"Not much I can do about it yknow...I hate attracting creeps that just want me for my child-like body, and I cant find anyone that's into true form."

"Do you see now...Why you wouldn't..Huh? *looks back over to her, seeing her slumped over with a glazed, empty look in her eyes* She...Actually cracked..I gotta get out of here.." I lowly said to myself, giving myself a short washing process before stepping out...I hate to've disturbed her like that..I dunno how else I could've went about this..Not like I could've stayed anyway. There's still some serious threats coming my way. And I still have to get to the bottom of them. Before I knew it my clothes were already dressed on me, and I found myself opening the door, only to be welcomed by an instant stare from Killua. It was as if his gaze froze me when I looked back at him. "You dont look alright. Did something happen in there?" he asked, "Nothing really...But I dont wanna talk about it. *sees his brows forming into an upset look* (I know he didnt like that answer..But Im low on choices here..) Listen...I cant stay here any longer. Sorry I haven't told you two but Im being tracked. It'd be best if you didnt stay here either. *goes to the door to exit* Watch yourselves too. There's a very powerful Chimera Ant out there.." I warned him. One thing's for sure...I saved them from knowing about my past..When I was with my first and only Chimera Ant. To this day, ever since she left my life..."*sees me opening the door* And Pitou's going to stop her with my Plaything! ^W^" Neferpitou suddenly shouts in front of me, "W-wha-! Pitou what're you doing-!? *hears a slight swift movement behind me* H-huh?!" I react, turning around and seeing Pitou holding Killua's claw being held by her grip. "What the hell're you doing here...WHERE'S GON?! WHY AREN'T YOU DEAD?! OVO" Killua yells, "*puts a finger to cheek* Hmm Pitou doesnt know at the moment, but I'll find out. Oh and if you touch my Plaything, Pitou will have to kill you, ok? ^v^" she told him, "*gets thrown into the wall, head busts through the window*...You're...Working with HER? I swear...Next time we meet...*takes head out of the broken glass, staring at me with blood dripping with a dark look* IM KILLING BOTH OF YOU " Killua threatens us, "*giggles* Not if you can catch us. Cmon Plaything! We got a friend to meet!" Pitou told me before gripping my hand and having us jump through a wall she slashed open. Killua was left in disbelief as blood continued to flow from his head wound and he slipped into unconsciousness.

It took us several hours to get to Bask's new place. Pitou's strings had already made their way throughout my body, making me faster and stronger like before as the landscapes seemingly pass us at great speed. "Do you...Still feel Pom's weird vibrations in your body? I suddenly dont feel any" I asked her, "Hmm. Me either" she answers, "I wanted to...Ask them about how I could get rid of it, but I didnt wanna risk them making me leave too soon to answer" I reply, "As far as Pitou sees it, the vibrations will just go away over time. It could be due to us moving so fast. *sees look away with a stern face* Also Plaything, Pitou just got a great idea for next time we face her! owo" she then told me, "Is that right? Let's hear it" I reply, "*giggles* Im not telliiiing~! It'll ruin the surprise ewe. Let's just say she has a big weakness Pitou's been thinking about" she alludes to. I sorta have an idea myself. Only thing is that I'd need to put it into practice to make sure it works...Now...There's this other thing. I hate to say it but...After what just happened, I decided to speak up.

"*sees me suddenly stop* Nyuh? *digs legs into ground, cancelling momentum while stopping and makes a deep rocky streak of torn ground; walks up to me* Why'd you stop, Plaything? Did you see something?"

"It's not that...There's something I want to get off my chest."

"! Ooooooo~ Is Plaything finally opening up to Pitou? OwO"

"Dont get ahead of yourself...I told one of them about how..I've been taken advantage of...By you and Pom."

"Oh you did? Pitou doesnt see why you would."

"I needed to get out there as soon as possible. One of them tried entrapping me for answers and I was pushed to telling her quite a bit about myself.."

"Oooooh, good thing Pitou came by quick enough. -w-"

"Well..I was on my way out and you...Made things worse but anyways. I didnt stop you for that...You see these marks on my face?"

"Yeah-huh. They're pretty cute on you. ^w^"

"These...Are my Love Marks."

"Nyuh? But you're supposed to be my Plaything! Who gave those to you? Pitou'll make sure she-! oVo"

"Listen...I wanted to tell them about this..But just telling one of them about you two was plenty as is. So...I wanted to tell someone that wouldn't judge me...What better person than another Ant.."

"W-what do you...Did Plaything get Love Marks from an Ant? OWO"

"L-Look, it's...Not as good as it seems.."

"Pitou knew you'd have a thing for us Ants! ^W^"

"Again look...You should remember what I told you about valuing life, right? Haven't you given it some thought by now?"

"...Pitou has.."

"Her name was Amyrela...She was a Spider Ant. But she...She had cataracts. It got bad to the point where she became blind one day.."

"Oh...Poor Amy.."

"As you'd figure, she was very attracted to me, and...I felt the same for her too from all those times she protected me. Her Nen allowed her to mark things with a black coloring from her hands, so she can see them."

"But your's are purple. How come?"

"That's...Because her love for me flourished. To where her marks on me just become this way."

"Awwww and you dont want to wipe them away since you love her that much. ^W^"

"Y'see...I actually cant. It's her Post-Mortem Nen's effect.."

"...Post-Mortem eh..."

"One day...While her vision came back after having her love for me grow larger each day, so did her Nen. I was told by the Association to kill a certain Ant that's been causing deaths around me. I had no idea what was happening..Until I traced some bodies back to her. She been killing many people behind my back. They were all accidental."

"So...You decided to kill her right there?"

"When I approached her in an empty cave, I was already cut by her thin wire webs. Her other Nen allowed her colonies of spiders come out of whoever she cuts if unattended for a minute, so it didnt happen to me after she saw me...We talked for a while after that. She got angry with me after I told her about what I was ordered to do. She wanted me to kill whoever sent out to investigate. Of course...I chose not to. I saw how dangerous it'd be to leave her as is."

"So it became that bad huh..."

"I didnt use my Nen abilities to fight her. I couldnt bring myself to...So I used physical force to subdue her. She was far worse off than me...Then she begged me to leave her be..I wanted to make it quick...But seeing that look just...It was really tearing me up inside..I couldnt do anything..."

"So did she...?"

"She killed herself..."

"Oh Plaything...Pitou's really sorry you had to.."

"My hands may've been...Tied, to say the least...But do you see how valuable something like that is? She was gone...Just like that.."

"...It's...It's almost like when..I heard about The King dying..."

"I remember you looked awful...I guess we're in a similar boat now."

"Y-yeah...Let's..Let's go, ok?"

"Right..." I agreed and we hopped back to the rest of the way to Bask's place. I...Only told her about half of this story...Even she couldn't believe what she was hearing...Amyrela...She was the most gentle Ant there was..She made me less hesitant to be with an Ant...Though Bask could imagine how much I miss her, the hate she has for them deepened after I told her about...Her last moments. She hated how the evolution of this race to the detriment of the kindest Ant to ever live. To an extent, it seems that's happened to Meruem too. I couldnt even meet him...Still. Bask hates the though of me possibly being with an Ant too. To her, it was like taking away a guy she was interested in this way. Could she...Hate me as well cuz of that? It's hard to say now, so I'll be careful around her...We dropped in front of her small house, but like last time, she wasnt anywhere to be seen. I check around the side of her house and see a note. "Something came up. Something really big. Help if you can..." it reads...No..Dont tell me.. "*looks behind, seeing clouds turning gray; traces it towards the shores* We have to go, Pitou...Now!" I urged her and sped southward towards the shores and Pitou followed me.

"*dodges clouds of dark matter from above, watches as it rots away rows of trees and spreads deeper in the forest, corroding the wildlife to bones* (What the hell is this? I cant afford to get touched by that) *looks up, seeing a dozen massive bladed tentacles ominously spinning around as they hover forward in unison* (One thing's for sure...It's from the Dark Continent) *sees a tentacle stretch out this way with morphed spikes at the end* ! (They can shapeshift?!) Shit!" Bask reacts, swinging her Nail Bat at the tentacle, making many sparks fly from their clash and a bit of her arm squirts blood upon impact before she's pressed backwards by a yard from it. Though the Nail Bat was able to make many Nen Nails travel through the giant limb and overload it enough to make it burst open violently, the stump was able to form several more tentacles in it's place. "(Ah hell...The one time my Nail Shrapnel isn't effective..This is very mindless so I cant tell what it's thinking)" she thinks to herself, "I guess we're late" she heard, turning to me and seeing me walk up to her as I stared up at our absent-minded adversary, "I've been at this for half an hour and cant seem to get anywhere..It's regen is something else" she told me, "Then we'll have to kill it as fast as possible. *sees a huge rotating metal saucer right above the swirling tentacles* Good chance that the head's there. Though I aint sure how it's even alive" I point out, "I can get us there in no time! You'll have to swipe those arms away on the way up, Plaything! OwO" Pitou said with excitement in her voice, "Have me up there too. I still haven't used my Limiter Nails yet" Bask told her, "You got it! ^w^" Pitou complied. She manifests a big puppet above her, made it inject it's strings in our bodies and with a few upward yanks, we were shooting through the air and drew close to the huge tentacle monster in no time. Through whatever means of sensory it had, the big thing reacts by opening up it's metallic saucer when we were 200ft away from it, revealing a gummy yet webs and woads of flesh within along with varying sizes of eyes that looked around. This compartment sprouted more tentacles before closing, having them extend to us with dark matter on them. "! (I dont like the looks of that! If I can just smack it away..)" I was deciding in my head, charing my fist with Death Core energy, "Dont do it! *gets my attention* When it covers any part of it's body in that coating, it can wipe away anything, including Nen and people!" Bask warns me, "I had an inkling about that...In that case..*tugs at one of my attached threads, forcing me to go upward and dodge out of the tentacle's way* Death Core!" I shout, punching down on the parts of the tentacle that weren't covered in the black coating, "Good thinking. (Hope you figured that it'll fall for just about anything since it's mindless)" Bask said with a proud smile appearing on her face, "TYPE CHANGE. GROUND BREED" we heard, surprising us with a tinge of shudder in our hearts. Did...Did it just say something? It..Sounded robotic. Im guessing it's actually cybernetic, but seeing how the saucer it's been having for a head and body start morphing and ball up into a meat ball is making me unsure. My best guess now is that it's adapting. Sure chose a weird way to do so. It's ball form made a big crater upon impact with the ground and shortly became a 50ft wolf-like monster with a neck that had the length of it's black body, and a head of a much thinner disc. Just what the hell is this thing... "It seems to change forms whenever it wants. We gotta make this quick. Any ideas, Pitou?...Pitou?" I asked her and see that she held her eyes closed as we were dropping from her strings retracting to her puppet. Looks like she's planning something...Whatever, as long as it's worth the wait. Me & Bask land on our feet, and the creature starts of by extending it's neck at us, with a mouth full of fangs coming out of it. Bask hits it away with her Nail-imbued Nen Bat, and had to do so a dozen more times as it was taking little damage from her strong swings. While she was busy with that, I ran to the side and dashed towards it with a charged Death Core in one hand. "(How's this...!) *jumps up, throws a charged Death Core punch at it when I got close to it's rib but sees it get out of the way with a sudden burst of speed, stopping itself behind me to my surprise* (It got way faster?!) *gets kicked away by it's hind leg, with it's razor foot cutting across my chest* GYAAAAGH!" I shout in pain as I fly backwards with some blood coming out of my wound. "*still smacks it's head and bites away with Nail Bat* (Damn, it looks like it can attack two people at the same time. This is the best time to not hold back)" Bask thought to herself, then impaled the creature through it's back with two large, 10ft Limiter Nails that came from her back and put her horn Wedger into it's neck, locking it down to the ground in this manner too. "Perfect..Now come out, Wedgehog!" she calls out, with a big yellow hedgehog-like creature manifesting next to her. Bask gets grabbed by it and the the things puts her in front of it's stomach before curling up, spinning into the creature in front of us, starting from it's head, shredding through it and down it's neck while having horns on it's body shoot out by the 100s and making more in their place to keep up the attack. Once they got to the body, Bask jumps out of her Nen Beast's grasp before it goes into her Nail Bat, making it larger with thicker nails and bigger spikes on it as she slams it down on the creature's body, making it's guts spew from it's sides as her Limiter Nails pop out of it's crushed back from the force of her attack. "*gets up* Way to go, Bask! I think that actually killed it!" I said with a bit of excitement in my voice, "*walks to me, wiping blood off face with a hand* Tch. Went about as I figured" she replied, "(Heheh. Look at her acting so accomplished. I can tell she used alot of Aura there but she still doesnt look winded) *sees dark red energies coming from the creature's body* Bask...I dont think we're done yet" I tell her, making her turn around with a more serious face, realizing that it's Post-Mortem Nen is trying to take shape. "*sees a big black sphere take shape above it's body with a vertically stretched mouth that reached to the body of it's shape emitting dark purple Aura, along with eyes on top that pointed upwards; notices several quacking gravity weils occurring randomly, making large, deep holes in the ground* ! It isn't controlled at all..It's like it wants to destroy everything!" I point out, "*flicks severals Nen Nails at it and they bounce off before they can touch it* Dammit.
