After Reo's explosive confrontation with Rin and Nagi, things shifted—though not in the way anyone might have expected. If anything, the confrontation seemed to solidify something between Rin and Nagi, drawing them closer. This new development baffled the rest of Blue Lock who had not yet observed the pair being anything other than growing rivals.

Until now, Rin was usually off brooding or focusing on his training, while Nagi napped lazily or buried himself in his phone games. They existed in separate orbits. But something changed.

Suddenly, Rin and Nagi were almost always seen together. If Rin was reviewing footage, Nagi was lounging nearby, lazily scrolling through his phone. If Nagi was killing time in the common area, Rin would be next to him, silently watching or doing his own thing. It wasn't the dramatic, intense kind of closeness some might expect from two hyper-competitive strikers, but rather a quiet, natural companionship. They didn't even need to speak much—there was an unspoken understanding between them, a gravitational pull that brought them into each other's space without either of them really trying.

It wasn't long before the rest of Blue Lock took notice.

Isagi was the first to bring it up. He'd been heading toward the gym when he spotted the two of them through one of the common room windows. Nagi was sprawled out on the couch, phone in hand, while Rin sat beside him, flipping through a notebook, completely at ease. They looked like they'd always been that close, as if this was something that had been happening for months. But Isagi knew better.

"Hey, are you seeing this?" Isagi nudged Bachira, who had been stretching nearby.

Bachira followed Isagi's gaze, his eyes widening when he saw Rin and Nagi together. "Whoa, what the heck? When did that happen?"

Chigiri, who had been finishing up a set of weights, walked over, glancing at the pair. "This is… unexpected."

Isagi ran a hand through his hair, looking puzzled. "I mean, we've all noticed them competing more on the field, but… I didn't think they'd be friends."

Bachira grinned mischievously. "Maybe 'friends' isn't the right word, Yoichi. You saw them play against each other in our 3v3. That wasn't just rivalry."

Isagi blinked, taken aback by the suggestion. "What are you saying? No way. Rin's never like that with anyone. And Nagi is.. Nagi."

Chigiri, shaking his head with a small smirk, chimed in. "Honestly, it kind of makes sense. As weird as it seems, their personalities… complement each other. Nagi's lazy and laid-back, but Rin's all focused intensity. Somehow, it balances out."

Isagi crossed his arms, frowning as he thought it over. He'd always pegged Rin as the type who didn't get close to anyone—his tunnel vision for soccer seemed to make that impossible. But then again, Nagi was a unique case. He didn't follow the usual rules either.

Still, it was strange. But that would explain why Reo had been acting even more out of sorts lately.

"How do you think this happened?" Isagi asked, his curiosity getting the better of him. "And when?"

Bachira shrugged with a laugh, leaning against the wall. "Maybe Rin finally found someone who doesn't annoy the crap out of him. Nagi doesn't try too hard, doesn't push too much. Maybe that's what Rin needs—someone who can just chill with him."

Chigiri nodded thoughtfully. "Honestly, it's kind of funny. Rin's always been so intense and focused, and now Nagi's just… there. It's like they're a weird balance for each other."

The more they thought about it, the more it seemed to make sense. Nagi's laid-back attitude could diffuse some of Rin's sharp edges, and Rin's ambition might be the push Nagi needed to keep evolving. It was an unexpected pairing, but one that, in hindsight, might have been inevitable.

Despite the initial shock, most of their teammates found themselves growing accustomed to the new dynamic and no longer questioned the oddness of it. Accepting the strange mystery surrounding the two's newfound closeness was almost fitting for the two socially inept boys. Bachira even joked about how Rin and Nagi were "like yin and yang" now, complete opposites that somehow worked together. Isagi, while still surprised, couldn't deny that Rin's intensity and Nagi's natural talent seemed to sharpen each other. And Chigiri—he was just amused at how the whole situation had unfolded.

In a way, no one should've been surprised. Blue Lock had always been a place where the unexpected happened. Still, seeing Rin and Nagi gravitate toward each other so naturally was something few could have predicted. It wasn't the kind of loud, obvious friendship that others had, but rather a quiet companionship that made sense in its own way.

Reo, however, wasn't handling it well.

He'd been avoiding both of them since the confrontation, his frustration and jealousy only growing as he watched Nagi drift even further into Rin's orbit. Every time he saw them together—it felt like a personal betrayal. Reo couldn't understand how Nagi had made this shift so easily, how his best friend could be so comfortable with someone else. Nagi is supposed to lean on him like that.

As for Rin and Nagi, the change had felt natural. They found a kind of peace in each other's presence. On the field, they were still rivals, but off the field, there was a quiet understanding that allowed them to just be. Rin still internally called Nagi his pet, but he knew it was more than that. His ultimate goal was to become the Number One striker, but Nagi was becoming someone he thought he maybe wanted to keep by his side beyond that. Nagi was expanding his dreams in ways he'd never even considered before.

As days passed, it became clear that this wasn't a fleeting connection. Rin and Nagi had found something in each other that worked, and now that the rest of Blue Lock had seen it, they couldn't unsee it. No one quite knew what that would mean for the future.

But one thing was certain—Rin and Nagi's new bond had shaken things up in Blue Lock, and no one was sure just how much more it would change the dynamic of their already high-stakes competition.
