"Oh, hey Apo-"

"I got a bone to pick with you." Percy looks up, confused. "One, I am very disappointed that you didn't tell anyone about being stabbed. Why did you hide it? Knowing you, you knew it was bad. And two, I am even more disappointed that you didn't tell anyone your knee was hurting. Your ACL is almost completely torn and you knew something was seriously wrong." Apollo chastises.

"How long ago did it happen?"

"Um," Percy says, uncertainly.

"Perseus." Apollo pushes.

"About a month ago. Maybe a little less, I dunno."

"Percy, there are people here who can help you. You just need to tell them." Apollo informs. Percy grimaces at his words and from the pain of his injuries.

"I know."

"Now that you've been informed of the situation, there's one more thing I need you to understand… The surgeons found all your scars and bruises and they called Child Protective Services on your mother. Now they think I'm a social worker because I know your mother would never hurt you, but Gabe did." Percy flinches at the mention of the mortal's name.

"I know he did. We all knew. Zeus was too stubborn to let Poseidon step in."

"But he would've if he could've?" Percy asks, a spark of hope igniting behind his eyes.

"Believe me, he wanted to, with everything he had. The only reason he didn't was to prevent a war." Apollo reassures. "Your friends will find out about your scars if they haven't already. You might as well tell them now."

As Percy listens, the pain and aching in his body intensifies greatly and is almost too much for him to handle.

"I know, but I can't tell them. They all think I had the perfect childhood because my mom is amazing. They don't know. The only one who does is Grover. I don't want them to see me fall apart at the mere mention of a mortal. I have to be stronger than that." Percy explains.

"Perseus, you're the strongest demigod I know, but even you can't keep this up much longer." They both pause and the god stares at the demigod in sympathy.

"Thanks for keeping my mom out of trouble, and Paul too. I didn't mean to get any of them in trouble. I just thought I could handle it myself…" He closes his eyes and he cringes in agony, "But Apollo, why aren't the pain meds working?" He asks through gritted teeth.

"What? What're you talking about?" Apollo questions.

"I assume they gave me pain meds, right?"

"Yeah, I'm guessing a shit ton of 'em."

"Then why can I still feel all of it? I woke up and I expected the pain to go away, or at least dull it. But I'm awake and it's at least ten times worse." Percy explains. His eyes are watering intensely and his jaw is clenched tightly.

"They're not working?!" Apollo gapes.

"They're not working." Percy confirms. The young god rushes to his side and puts hands on the boy. He closes his eyes and concentrates as Percy writhes from the pressure on his injuries.

"Mm! Aagh!" He groans, trying to get away from his grasp.

"I'm sorry, but hold still." Apollo commands. Percy calms down a bit but still moves away slightly.

They stay in their places for about a minute before the god comes to a conclusion. "Your blood is half mortal blood and half god blood, so when the pain medication enters your bloodstream to try and relieve some of the pain, the godly blood overtakes it and dissolves it, rendering it useless." Percy grimaces at Apollo's examination.

"The amount of godly blood you have is almost enough to kill most half bloods and make them pure god, but you're still alive and mortal so you're fine as far as that goes. There's nothing I can do for you since I can't fully heal you without the mortals getting suspicious and you can't have ambrosia or nectar, even though that's what your blood is programmed for. I'm so sorry."

"It's fine, I'm okay." He pauses, "Can my mom and Paul and Will and Austin come in, please?"

"Sure, I'll send them in." He pats Percy on his left shoulder and walks out of the room, leaving Percy with silent tears running down his face.

"No, not now. They'll see." He says, then wipes the tears off his face and puts on a smile. His mom was the first to run in and give him a soft hug, careful not to hurt him.

"Oh my goodness, Percy!" His mother exclaims, then softly back-hands him in the head.

"Ow, Mom. Concussion." Percy reminds.

"How could you be such an idiot?!" She rants, turning to Paul, "How did I manage to raise such an idiot.?!"

"Ouch!" Percy fake stabs his heart.

"Well it's true!" She states, "How could you hide this from all of us? Percy, you know better. I thought I taught you better."

"I'm sorry." Percy apologizes.

"But I'm still extremely proud of you." She hugs him and kisses him on the forehead once again.

"What, why?" He questions.

"Why?! Dude, you saved a little girl from being kidnapped!" Will explains.

"Ho-how did you know that?" Percy asks, confused. "I left before the ambulance got there."

"Some random guy took a video and sent it to the news, now that you're identified, they aired it on the news." Paul says.

"You're a hero!" Austin declares.

"I was- I was just doing the right thing you know, anybody else would've done the same." Percy says.

"No, Percy, I don't think many other kids would've done that." Paul suggests.

"Maybe, I'm just kinda tired right now." Percy notes.

"Oh yeah, Apollo told us your pain meds aren't working. We're really sorry." Austin reminds him. "Will and I have to get back to camp. We'll be waiting for you when you come back."

They both turn to leave but they stop when Percy speaks.

"Tell Annie I love her. Don't let her visit me. It's too dangerous, especially right now."

"Ok man, we won't. We promise." Will states. The children of Apollo leave the room as Paul and Sally take their rightful spots in the chairs on the sides of his bed.

"Go to bed, Percy, you earned it." Paul commands.
