Sorry for not updating quicker. Anyways hope you like it. This is all the further I've written so far but I do have a plan.
"Huh?" Will startled awake.
"Did Percy break his fingers, a knuckle, a rib, and sprain a rib two weeks ago?" Nico questions.
"Wha-yeah, he did. Why?" Will answers.
"And why didn't you say anything?!" Annabeth shouts.
"He told me I couldn't!" He responds.
"So?!" They all shout.
"When the Savior of Olympus threatens you with his sword, you listen." Will defends.
"I didn't do that!" Percy gets glares from everyone in the room, "Ok maybe I did that." They all move back to Percy after confronting Will. Chiron grabs a thermometer from the table and puts it up to Percy's forehead. "Woah, I'm fine." Percy states as he blocks his head with his casted wrist.
"No, you're not." Chiron says, moving his arm out of the way. He holds the device to his head for a few seconds before it beeps and the screen lights up with a small number. "101.7." Chiron announces, "Fever. You're staying here tonight."
"What?!" Percy exclaims, "Why?!"
"Fever, broken ribs, snapped ligament in your knee, concussion," Leo states.
"Ok Leo, I get it."
"No, I'm not done. Where was I… oh yeah, broken open stitches, a broken arm, stab wounds, and a half-broken hand." After Leo's rant, Piper speaks up.
"Yeah, you're definitely staying here tonight." Will moves around Percy's bed and to the cupboards on the other side, he pops back up from the ground with some sort or weird splint in hand.
"Uh, Will?" Hazel hints.
"Ah, medieval torture device."
"What?!" Percy jolts, immediately pushing himself up further.
"Kidding," Will says, shoving Percy back down in bed. "It's a splint for your hand." He sits down on a stool next to the bed and slides Percy's hand into it.
"Great, now I can't use either of my hands." Will tightens the straps and Percy winces.
"Ok, pain scale time." Will warns.
"Oh no." Percy whines.
"Knee."
"Six."
"Wrist."
"One."
"Arm?"
"Eight."
"Side?"
"Ribs?"
"Eight and a half."
"Fingers?"
"Two."
"Percy."
"Fine, nine."
"Head?"
"Five."
"Ok, we'd give you some ambrosia but the mortals would get suspicious."
"That's okay, I'm fine."
"You guys should probably get back to your cabins. Annabeth, I'll let you come back and stay with Percy but for now let him get to sleep." Chiron says.
"Fine. Be good, Seaweed Brain." Annabeth commands her boyfriend.
"I'm always good Wise Girl."
"Yeah right." Leo snickers.
"Bye guys." Percy says as they all wave back at him while walking out.
"I should go too. Be good. Listen to Will. I'll be back to check on you later." Chiron says.
"Okay." Will and Percy reply in unison. Will turns to Percy after the door shuts, "Lay down, you're exhausted." Percy's smile had faded and his eyes were drooping. Will pushes Percy forward a bit while he removes three of the pillows before laying the boy back down.
"Mm." He groans.
"Percy, go back to sleep. You're safe here, you're okay. I'm not leaving." Will reassures. Percy cringes and his eyebrows furrow.
"Will, I can't sleep. I know I'm safe, I know she's safe, I know I'm not dying and I'm okay… but I can't shake the feeling. I just, I feel like there's someone coming for me, and I know they're not going to stop. I can sense it. My brain won't shut off, I can't fall asleep. I've tried, but I can't and I am so tired." He explains through gritted teeth. The injured demigod starts crying in frustration with his mixed exhaustion.
"Hey, hey, Percy, calm down. You've done the best you can. You took care of her, now let me take care of you. Relax, I've got you. I'm not leaving." Percy is sitting back up and crying into Will's shoulder. The son of Apollo starts humming a healing hymn to his father which helps Percy regain his composure after a few minutes.
"Sorry." Percy says, feeling embarrassed.
"It's okay, you need it." Will says. Percy nods in response. "Lay back down. I'll give you something to help you sleep." The young healer finds the right amount and kind of medication. Once he has it, he injects it into Percy's IV line. The medicine makes its way into Percy's body and it takes effect very quickly. His eyes fall shut and his muscles relax. Will shuffles around, putting his supplies away and sitting in the armchair once he's done.
Annabeth makes her way into the med bay to see Will sleeping in a green armchair and Percy sleeping in the bed. She pulls another armchair from the corner to the right side of the bed. She falls asleep on her boyfriend's bed, holding his hand the best she can. Chiron checks on the three campers two times during the night and Will had to put Percy back to sleep once that night but other than that it went smoothly… Until about 7:30 the next morning.
Percy woke up to a very unpleasant, very severe ache in his arm and side. He had to hold back tears and cries of pain as he sat himself up. Moving a little too much, he accidentally woke up Annabeth and Will.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to wake you up." Percy apologizes.
"It's okay, how are you feeling?" Annabeth wonders.
"I'm okay." Percy says. "Why don't you go get ready and we'll meet you in the dining hall." He suggests.
"Okay, fine. See you in a bit." She leaves the infirmary which leaves Percy and Will alone again.
"You know the drill, shirt off." Will commands.
"FYI I'm physically and mentally rolling my eyes at you right now." Percy states then flinches and grimaces as Will pulls Percy's shirt over his head.
"Sorry." Will expresses his regret. Apollo's son undoes the bandages and the wounded boy notices him trying not to stare at his scars.
"Hey Will, you're not doing a very good job at not staring. I do appreciate the effort though."
"Percy, I'm sorry-" Will quickly starts.
"You're good. If it wasn't me I'd be curious too." Percy notices the boy's face shift from embarrassment to deep in thought, "Go ahead. Ask away."
"It's just, some of these scars aren't from monster fighting…"
"Abuse. From my stepfather Gabe. I endured it from when I was four to when I was twelve. That's how I broke my arm too. I was trying to escape from him… it worked, sort of. I didn't tell my mom, otherwise he would hurt her too, and I was okay most of the time. There were only a few times I needed actual medical attention… but please, please, please don't tell anyone. I don't need them to worry more than they already do." Percy explains.
"Percy… does anyone know?" Will asks cautiously.
"They don't need to. Annabeth has asked a few times but she's never pushed it. Percy responds.
"Perce, I'm so sorry." Will says, while helping Percy put his shirt back on over the fresh bandages. "Ready?"
"Yeah." Percy stands up unsteadily and leans heavily on Will. They take a step forward and Will is slept stranded while Percy is yanked to Mount Olympus. In the second it takes to get there, Percy roughly falls on the floor with a yelp.
"Aagh! I know you guys are god and everything, but couldn't you bring me here a little more gently." Percy groans as he pushes himself off the ground. Once he's standing and facing them, the gods get a closer look at how hurt Percy is.
"Son! Perseus, what happened to you?" Poseidon's voice rings out.
"Um…" Percy says. "You guys don't know? I mean aren't you guys all knowing?"
"We don't watch you demigods 24/7. Now tell us what happened to you." Zeus barks.
"Sorry. I just thought Apollo would've told you, he's been taking care of me." Percy explains, the gods all gasp and start yelling at Apollo.
"Apollo! Why didn't you inform me that my son was severely injured?!" Poseidon shouts.
"Calm down. I didn't want you guys stressing him out while he was trying to heal. He was stabbed twice for Olympus's sake!"
"What?!" They all exclaim. Percy, meanwhile, shrinks further into himself.
"Son, is this true?" Poseidon asks in a concerned voice. Percy shifts uncomfortably and blushes under the gods' stares.
"Yeah, I was just doing what anyone would've done."
"Which was?" Hades asks.
"There was this girl," Percy starts.
"Always a girl!" Artemis shouts.
"You got yourself stabbed for a girl?!" Hephaestus exclaims.
"Let him finish!" Zeus commands.
"She was probably eight or nine, she was walking in front of me while I was on the way home from practice and she was grabbed and pulled into an alley so I followed and it was Xavier and some other guys trying to tie her up and shove her into a pickup. I grabbed her and they stabbed me. I couldn't use Riptide because then they would know about the mythological world, and Xavier had a knife so… yeah." Percy explains.
"What?!" Poseidon shouts.
"What happened after that?" Aphrodite asks, intrigued.
"They drove away when they heard sirens, the girl's mom came and found her, and I ran home before the ambulance and police could show up." He finishes.
"So that explains the sling, but what about everything else?" Artemis asks. Percy looks down at himself, remembering he's hurt.
"Past injuries: a broken arm that didn't heal right, fell and got a concussion, tore my ACL, broke my hand. It's fine though, doesn't hurt too bad."
"Come here son." Poseidon says, shrinking down into his human form. Percy moves toward him warily. Once he reaches the god, his dad embraces him in a hug for a few long moments. Slowly but surely, Percy feels the pain leaving his body, not all of it, but a significant amount. Poseidon loosens his grip and percy pulls away feeling better than he's felt in two weeks, but scared of the consequences.
"Dad you didn't… you didn't heal me did you?" Percy asks.
"No, Percy, I wish I could've. I only took away about 50% of your pain, that's all I can do for you." Poseidon says solemnly.
"Thank you." Percy says, tightly embracing his father.
"Poseidon! We are not to interfere with our children's lives!" Zeus shouts at his brother.
"Zeus, he's in pain! So much so that I do not even know how he's standing! We can't heal him so, so help me, I would have to be dead or you, to leave him to deal with it on his own!" Poseidon objects.
"Wait, how did you know that?" Percy asks.
"Know what?" Poseidon questions.
"Oh no." Percy realizes, "You took it didn't you?"
"Took what?" Poseidon asks, concerned for his son.
"My pain. No, no, no, you don't deserve it, you didn't sign up for this, I did." Percy starts mumbling. "I can't do this. I can't cause anyone else this much pain. No, no, no, no, no…" Percy starts, his breath picks up and he starts panicking. He backs into the nearest column and slides down it, now hyperventilating. Poseidon and Apollo rush to his side.
"Hey, hey, hey, Percy. Percy, breathe. You are okay. Breathe. Everybody's okay." Apollo soothes. It takes a few minutes but Percy does eventually calm down. "Are you good now?" Apollo asks.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm okay now. Thank you." He says. The god helps him stand up. They look at each other and make a silent, mutual agreement.
"You guys have something you wanna share with the rest of the class?" Poseidon asks, annoyed that he doesn't know what's wrong with his son.
"You know what, I think it's time for Percy to get back to camp." Apollo suggests.
"Yeah, that sounds great." Percy says, "Bye Dad." Percy puts his hand on Apollo's shoulder and they're gone. They flash into camp in the infirmary with no one in sight. Percy sits on the cot and stares down, fumbling with his hands.
"How long?"
"A couple weeks." Percy responds, immediately knowing what he's talking about.
"How often?" The god questions.
"Once a day." Silence settles again, "Sometimes more." The demigod adds.
"Does anyone know?"
"Of course." Apollo gives him the same stare Will did the night before. "Fine. Nobody knows. I don't want them to worry more than they already are." Percy explains. "I don't like all the attention." Apollo starts gathering supplies from around the room and coming back to redress Percy's arm and torso. Apollo helps the teen take off his shirt and sling and is shocked to find so many grueling, non-quest induced scars.
"What are these from?" He gasps.
"Nothing, I'm just clumsy." Percy tries to play it off, to no avail.
"Nobody, not even you, is this clumsy." Apollo states. "You have to tell them."
"I can't. They'll pity me. I don't want their sympathy. It won't help fix anything and the scars will never go away. Besides It wasn't any worse than the kids around me." Apollo listens as he cleans out his cuts and Percy hisses in pain. "Agh! That stings!" Percy claims through gritted teeth.
"Sorry." Apollo apologizes. "I have to." Percy just nods as he handles only half of the pain he had earlier. Apollo patches him up and says something before he flashes back to Olympus.
"You know I have to tell Poseidon about your panic attacks right?"
"I know. But he's gonna go all 'overprotective dad' on me." Percy says. "I mean he's already gonna be mad enough at me since I didn't tell him I was hurt. The sea is gonna go insane!"
"He's already suspicious because you had an attack on Olympus. When I get back he's gonna pester me until I tell him." Apollo says, helping Percy put his sling back on and then says goodbye before flashing back to Olympus.
Percy sits on the bed in the med bay and the thought of his dad flipping out over a few panic attacks almost sent him into another full blown attack. He got a hold of himself just in time because Will coincidentally walked in.
"Percy?!" Will exclaims, "Where did you go? When did you get here? I was helping you walk to the pavilion and then you were just gone." Will explains as if Percy wasn't there. Finally he sighs. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah. Zeus flashed me to Olympus and they all thought I was dead. They asked me what happened and I told them and then my dad took away half of my pain temporarily so, yeah, I'm on top of the world right now." Percy explains. He looks around and notices there's nobody outside or really anywhere. "Where is everybody?" Percy questions.
"Cleaning up for cabin inspection. I think you'll be excused from that since, you know." Will assures, gesturing to his variety of injuries. "Either way you should get back to your cabin. Can you walk?" Percy takes all things into consideration then answers Will.
"Maybe, I'll need help though." Percy is embarrassed that he can't even walk down the hill to his own cabin.
"You know what, you're tired, let's just grab a wheelchair and I'll take you down there." Percy tries to protest but Will stops him. "I know, I know. You don't want to, you can do it yourself!" Will says. Percy pushes himself up and grabs Will's arm to help him into the chair.
"I… hate… you… Solace." Percy claims between breaths. Will situates so he won't hurt his knee then starts pushing him out of the infirmary.
"You love me, Jackson. Now sit back and calm down." Will commands. Percy slumps into the chair and sits up. Out of nowhere, Jason and Leo come walking out of the gym.
"Woah, Will, what happened?" Jason exclaims.
"Literally nothing." Percy says. "Will's just being overkill." Jason and Leo look to Will.
"It's not overkill. He could barely hold himself up long enough to make it four feet to the chair."
"Not even, I could've gotten down here with a little help." Percy defends.
"Calm down. You just got zapped to Olympus and back, take it easy." Will commands.
"What?!" The boys exclaim.
"Chill out. Zeus zapped me to Olympus to make sure I wasn't dead. They dropped me from like three feet in the air and it did not feel good. They made sure I explained everything and my dad freaked out. Then Apollo took me back here." Percy explains.
"Dang." Leo comments.
"That's why the sea was going crazy!" Jason yells in revelation.
"What?!" Percy asks.
"We had to close off the dock and evacuate the lake because the current was so strong." Jason proceeds. Percy's chest tightens and his head starts pounding.
"Oh yeah. And then there was that earthquake in Cali." Leo chimes in. The injured boy gets thrown into a coughing fit.
"Ok, ok, ok. Calm down. Breathe please. Let's not rip your stitches." Will suggests, jumping in front of Percy and breathing with him.
"Okay, okay, yeah, I'm okay. But what?! How do you guys know that?!" Percy exclaims.
"We got a call from Reyna a couple minutes ago. They were in the middle of sword practice and sparring, so when the earthquake hit… things did not go so well. Nico and I are heading over there tonight." Jason explains.
"Ok, so how do you guys know that then? We don't have phones and the only one at camp is in the Big House, you guys wouldn't know yet." Percy analyzes.
"Oh yeah, Chiron ran and told me and Nico we should go right away." Jason answers.
"But also there are about ten more phones in camp. One of them with your name on it." Leo states, excitedly.
"Wait, what?!" Percy shouts, "Phones!" You know demigods can't have phones right?!"
"Yeah, normal phones. I made ones using a certain radio wave pattern and other mechanical stuff no one understands along with some magic from the Hecate kids. So the signals they give off are untraceable which means no monster." Leo explains. "You just gotta get it from my cabin." Leo looks him up and down, "One second thought… maybe I'll just run and bring it to you."
