We have officially ended the Age of Ultron! You all should know that I usually like to do a few chapters in between the movies to have some filler chapters with more interactions between our characters. In this case, the next few chapters will be centered between Spencer and Pietro. I have to build their relationship tho, it's been so long since I first started the story that I've forgotten what exactly I wanted to do for their relationship. I started this story back in 2016 and now, it's been four LONG years later and we've finally made it to this point.
I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart. This story wouldn't be here without your continued support and patience. I am so pumped for this story and I want to finish this! I have so many more ideas for Spencer's journey! I hope you'll all enjoy it! This is a very short chapter with some Spencer/Pietro fluff. I think we all deserve it considering how I left off the last chapter, lol.
"So, this is where you've been hiding."
Spencer felt her heart stutter as she heard Pietro's voice from behind her. It had been a few weeks since Ultron was defeated and Spencer had been shot in the chest. Spencer couldn't remember much, to be honest. Rhodey was able to get Spencer onto the Helicarrier and thankfully, Helen Cho had been there to tend to Spencer and managed to save Shockwave's life.
The road to recovery was frustrating, to say the least.
Spencer's healing abilities were completely gone. Her powers seemed to be weakening and no one had any clue why. Tony, Bruce, and Helen put her through so many tests but nothing in her body signified that anything was wrong with her body. It stressed everyone out; talk about perhaps retiring Shockwave had been up in the air between her father and godfather but one glare from Spencer shot that conversation down.
"Before I had my powers, I was a top-notch assassin, don't forget that," Spencer remembered snarling at them in fury.
That topic never surfaced again.
Spencer felt suffocated and though she could understand why everyone was treating her delicately, they needed to know that she was anything but delicate. The only ones who seemed to know that was Wanda and Pietro-they experienced the torture and experiments Strucker put them through, they knew with their hearts that Spencer was nowhere near being delicate.
It was why Pietro had found Spencer about two miles away from the new Avengers facility; Tony had built Spencer her stable and spared no expense at all. Arwen, Spencer's American Paint Horse, was given luxury treatment and around the clock care. Spencer often spent her alone time here, far away from the coddling.
Spencer was sitting in the pasture near the stable, watching Arwen graze nearby. Cooper, Spencer's wolf-dog, was zooming around the pasture. The young woman had a blanket spread out on the ground with an untouched book at her side. Spencer greeted Pietro with a warm smile and gestured for him to sit with her if he wanted to, "Hey, speedster," Spencer said, "Yeah, Steve and I had a heated argument and I decided to cool off." Spencer gave a light shrug as if it was no big deal but Pietro knew it was certainly a big deal.
Steve and Spencer were very close therefore a fight between them was disturbing. Steve was always patient and firm while Spencer was always understanding to a point, but given recent events and the topic of the argument, it wasn't surprising why the conversation turned into an argument. A verbal disagreement between Captain America and Shockwave wasn't comfortable at all.
Everyone had heard the argument and Pietro had even witnessed it.
Spencer huffed, "Just because I may be losing my powers doesn't mean I'm fucking helpless," Spencer muttered with a dejected look, "Do they think I'll be useless without my powers?" Spencer wondered with a gloomy voice.
Pietro made himself comfortable next to Spencer, "They are scared, princezná," Pietro told her with a shrug, "They are scared of losing you."
"But they won't lose me!" Spencer looked up at Pietro with pleading eyes.
Pietro resisted the urge to reach out and caress Spencer's face, "They almost did and that's plenty for them." Pietro gently told her.
Spencer furrowed her eyebrows and her lips turned into a pout, "I'd do it again."
Pietro shook his head, "I can never repay what you did that day," Pietro told her quietly watching Arwen make way towards them, "I should have died that day. A part of me knew that I was meant to die at that moment…" Pietro trailed off, lost in his whirlwind of thoughts.
"I had nightmares about it," Spencer told him, avoiding his gaze as his attention focused onto her, "For years, I've had nightmares about Strucker and what he would do my friends and family and most included you and Wanda, I could never see your faces but I knew it was you two. After a while, I had nightmares of seeing some guy dying saving Clint during a war," Spencer gazed at Pietro intently, "I knew how it was going to end, but I wasn't going to let you die. I wasn't going to let anybody die." She said fiercely.
"Even at the cost of your own life?" Pietro said a bit angrily.
Spencer was surprised to hear the anger in his voice but nodded, "Of course." Spencer responded without hesitation.
Pietro frowned at her, "My life is nothing compared to yours," Pietro says firmly, "You are loved by your companions, by the people you protect, everyone who meets you," Pietro says passionately, his accent becoming thicker, "Your life is worth more than mine and you were willing to throw it away for a low-life like me?"
Spencer felt confused, "My life isn't worth more or less than yours," Spencer said quietly, "We are all equal, no matter what we've been through, what we haven't been through, we are all equal, Pietro. I've seen how you've died so many times and I've seen the impact it left on everyone afterward, I wasn't going to let it happen."
"And what about the impact had you died saving me?" Pietro demanded.
Spencer was quiet and unsure how to respond and with frustration said, "I don't know how you want me to respond, Pietro."
Pietro's shoulder had relaxed, "I am sorry, princezná, I didn't mean to get so intense," Pietro ruffled his hair awkwardly, "I care for you, Spencer," Spencer's heart jolted and her eyes met Pietro's sincere silver-blue ones, "Watching you get shot like that…" Pietro looks away from her for a few seconds, "It haunts me. We have a bond, ya know? I know you feel it."
Spencer reached out to grasp his hand, "I'm sorry, Pietro," She apologized sincerely.
Pietro's cheeks tinged pink, "You're too nice to me, princezná," Pietro says thickly taking Spencer's hand and seeing the size difference between their hands; hers were so dainty and small while his hands were large and calloused.
Spencer blushed enjoying the feeling of holding Pietro's hand-Spencer wouldn't admit it but seeing Pietro's hand holding hers was making her feel faint, "Do you think I was too harsh on Steve?" Spencer timidly asked.
Pietro hummed lightly, "No, but I also understand Steve's side," Pietro sighs, "Perhaps a bit too much."
Spencer cocked an eyebrow, "What do you mean by that?" Spencer asked.
Pietro chuckled, "Don't look at me like that, princezná," Pietro teased poking her forehead, "You don't scare me, Spencer."
Spencer shyly looks away, "I wasn't trying to scare you." She mumbles.
Pietro smiles at her.
Spencer doesn't know what to do; she wants to address this strange feeling she feels whenever she's with Pietro but doesn't want to ruin the mood. Spencer knew she had a deep bond with the twins' but she didn't feel these intense emotions with Wanda. It had been bothering her; her thoughts constantly revolving around Pietro.
She felt almost obsessed with him.
She wasn't some love-struck girl, no, these emotions were strong and intense, it almost scared her. "Pietro?" Spencer blurted out without warning.
"Yeah?" Pietro asked, looking at her curiously.
Spencer opened her mouth but was interrupted when Cooper zoomed right in between them, startling the both of them. "Cooper, you asshole!" Spencer cried as her dog stared at them with mischief in his eyes. Pietro only laughed.
Cooper trotted back over to them and settled himself in between Pietro and Spencer; Cooper had taken a great liking to Pietro, which wounded and made Tony jealous. "As I was saying before we were interrupted," Spencer tugged very gently on Cooper's ear and her dog only wagged his tail happily, "I wanted to ask, uh, about that bond you were talking about."
Pietro stared at her intently before nodding, "Yes?"
Spencer felt her cheeks blush and her ears getting hot, "Um, are they intense?"
Pietro nodded thoughtfully, "Very."
Spencer swallows uneasily, "And?"
Pietro smirks, "I think you know what emotions are, princezná, and what they mean." Pietro says slyly.
Spencer glares hotly at the speedster, "Of course I know that, Pietro! I was asking if you felt the same way!"
Pietro's expression softens and he's reaching out towards Spencer, gently caressing her face with his fingers, Spencer's heart explodes and she feels herself closing her eyes to enjoy the feeling, "I do," Pietro says without much thought, "I feel drawn to you, always and without much reason, I just want to be near you," Pietro trails off with a thoughtful look, "I've never felt like this before, but I know what it means. I care for you, Spencer, deeply."
Spencer stares at Pietro as he looks back at her curiously, "I didn't want to say anything because it didn't feel right. We've only known each other for not even a month, I didn't want to scare you or pressure you or make you feel uncomfortable," Pietro chuckles lightly, "Wanda was always scolding me because I made it too obvious."
Spencer gently pulls away from his hand and takes it in her hand, "I've never been in this situation before," Spencer admitted with a light chuckle, "So, I'm not sure how to respond."
Pietro smiles brightly at her and Spencer's head feels light-headed, "Let's go out on a date," Pietro asks breezily, "How does that sound? Isn't that what American couples do?" Pietro questions.
Spencer's eyes widen, "A date?" She sputters.
"Are they not a good idea?" Pietro frowns.
"No, it's a good idea, I was just taken by surprise," Spencer mumbles with a wild blush, "Dates are for people who want to be in an intimate relationship, ya know?" Spencer blushes even more and it entertains the shit out of Pietro.
"Yes," Pietro drawls, "That's the idea, Spencer."
Spencer feels stupid, "Oh."
Pietro laughs loudly, "Are you sure you're a master assassin?" He teases bopping her nose as he leans away from her.
Spencer pouts, "I'm not the most experienced in the romance department, Pietro!" She huffs with her arms crossed over her chest.
"Me neither," Pietro muses softly, "But how about that date?"
Spencer shyly smiles, "I'd love to go on a date with you, Pietro."
Pietro grins happily.
"Well, this is revolting," Wanda's snarky voice entered, "At least you both have clothes on."
"Wanda, that isn't appropriate." Pietro deadpans with a frown.
Spencer is mad blushing and glaring at Wanda who trots over to them with a grin, "I'm glad this," She gestures between Spencer and Pietro, "Is working out." Wanda plops down on Spencer's other side, "Steve's looking for you."
"Oh, great," Spencer muttered, back in a sour mood.
"He looks like someone kicked his puppy," Wanda mused with a grin, "You have him wrapped around your finger, eh, Spence? Take note, brother, you'll be the same way," Wanda paused and a bigger smirk was on her face, "Oh, sorry, you're already wrapped around her little finger."
"Wanda!" Pietro and Spencer groan before the trio burst out in a fit of laughter.
Spencer's spirits were always in a better mood when she was with the twins. For the time being, she could forget about the fight she had with Steve. Her dad was going to freak out when Spencer tells him she's going on her first date. Ooooh, she couldn't wait to tell Laura and Nat.
