Warning: A lot of dialogue. I wasn't aware of how much until I looked through the chapter.
"Boys, are you done going back and forth?" Spencer sarcastically asked; she was tucked against a corner with Bruce and Thor. Somehow, the two men started bickering like an old married couple. Bruce had his five-minute freak-out in the Quinjet, but as soon as the group moved into the thick, celebrating crowds inside the city, well, Bruce looked ready to explode with stress. Now, Bruce was accusing of being a bad friend for using Bruce to get to the Hulk.
Bruce and Thor glanced at her and saw the impatient expression on her pretty face, "We need disguises," Thor said turning around and grabbing some random cloth drying on someone's clothing line, "Here," Thor handed her a light brown, thin shawl and Thor kept a similar one in the color gray and draped it over his head.
"I need a disguise," Bruce reminded.
Spencer stared at her 'disguise' and muttered, "not the brightest crayon in the crayon box, huh, buddy?" before following Thor's lead.
Thor looked at Bruce, "You are the disguise," He tells Bruce plainly.
Bruce randomly pulls out a pair of sunglasses, "I'll be Tony Stark!" He crows.
Thor and Spencer share a look, "What?" Thor is bewildered.
"No one even knows who Tony Stark is on Sakaar," Spencer patiently reminds Bruce.
"Yeah, but we can be Tony and the gypsies," Bruce insists.
"No, no, you're not Tony. You're Bruce Banner," Thor shakes his head, and Spencer feels as if this whole conversation was going off course at this point.
Bruce looks irritated now, "Then why did you dress me up like Tony?"
"Because you were naked," Thor deadpans.
Bruce's look of irritation melts away and awkwardly says, "Okay, I'll give you that."
"This conversation is wasting our time," Spencer inserts her two cents.
Bruce stands up and awkwardly adjusts his crotch inside Tony's tight pants, "What are you doing?" Thor demands, looking weirded out, "Stop doing that!"
"Tony wears his pants super tight!" Bruce whined in agitation.
"Why are you being so weird?" Thor huffs, annoyed.
"I don't know, maybe the fact that I was trapped for two years inside a monster made me a little weird!" Bruce snapped, his voice disorientating and his face flashing green for a brief moment.
"Hey, it's okay," Thor pats Bruce awkwardly, "You're good. Calm down, come on," Thor begins to lead Bruce out of the alleyway they were tucked into and back towards the main street, "Listen, we're going to go to Asgard, and you're not going to have to think about the Hulk ever again, all right?" Thor says confidently.
A second later, Bruce gets nailed in the face with green powder.
Spencer choked on her spit from trying not to laugh as the cloud of green momentarily surrounds them, "Well, that was short-lived," Spencer comments to Thor, waving away the cloud of green. The entire street is crawling with citizens cheering to their beloved Hulk, dancing, and flinging green powder everywhere. It was chaos and as Spencer's busy gazing at the dancing crowd, she hears Thor's voice, "Banner? Banner?!"
Spencer looks down to where Bruce was supposed to be and finds him gone; somehow he had gotten swept away from them by the cheering crowd, "Shit!" Spencer hisses before the duo charge into the massive crowd to find their friend.
She keeps Thor within her eyesight as they follow the crowd down into a main plaza; Thor is calling for Bruce and Spencer's eyes are searching the crowds for her friend; "Thor! Spencer!" Her ears hone in on the sound of Bruce's voice calling them and as Spencer sweeps the crowd down in the plaza, she sees Bruce.
"Thor," Spencer grabs Thor's shoulder and points to where Bruce is waving frantically at them, "He's right there!" Spencer and Thor begin to shove through everyone to quickly get to Bruce before he's somehow swept away from them again.
Just as they reach Bruce, there's a large Scrapper growling at Bruce. Spencer pulls Bruce to her protectively as Thor steps in front of Bruce to glare down the large Scrapper. As the beastly The scrapper goes to lunge at them, the familiar sound of the obedience disk shocking their victim can be heard as the Scrapper convulses and drops to the ground. Behind this scrapper, is Valkyrie. Spencer is holding Bruce's hand tightly in her own to make sure he isn't taken by the crowd again, "Hi," Tony says awkwardly.
Valkyrie stares at them coolly.
"I-I was going to do that," Thor points to the knocked out scrapper.
Valkyrie rolled her eyes and snottily said, "Yeah, well, I did it first."
"That's good," Thor says awkwardly as Valkyrie's smirk drops slightly when she sees Bruce, "What are you doing here?" Thor asks as he moves his body to obstruct Valkyrie's curious gaze.
Her nonchalant gaze turns back to Thor, "What are you doing here? I thought you were leaving?" She questions back with a cocked eyebrow.
"Who's that?" Bruce whispers to Spencer.
"A total badass," Spencer whispers back to Bruce with a grin.
Bruce just gives Spencer a bewildered look.
"I got side-tracked," Thor shrugs.
Valkyrie eyes Thor and gestures to the shawl, "What's with the?""
"It's his disguise," Spencer chimes in with a snort.
Valkyrie snorts, "But I can see your face?"
"Not when I do this, you can't," Thor says, covering a portion of his face with the shawl.
Bruce and Spencer exchange exasperated looks as Thor continued awkwardly, "Your hair looks nice, I like what you did with it. Did you change it? Washed it maybe?" Thor presses.
"And He's a prince?" Bruce snickered.
Spencer snorted to hide her laugh.
Valkyrie just rolls her eyes at Thor's antics before turning her back to them and towards the crowd, "Let's go," Valkyrie tells them over the roar of the crowd.
The trio follow Valkyrie through the crowd, "What are those things on her eyes?" Bruce asks Spencer with wide eyes on Valkyrie, "Are those the people she's killed?" Spencer laughs at that, and Bruce goes on to say, "She's so beautiful and strong and courageous."
"You're smitten as a kitten, Bruce," Spencer laughs.
"Who is this guy?" Valkyrie looks at Bruce over her shoulder; she's leading them through the crowds and takes them down a less populated alleyway.
"He's a friend," Thor chimes.
"Who? Me? I'm Bruce," Bruce introduces himself to Valkyrie.
Valkyrie is taking them to a Sakaarian apartment building a little ways from the main crowd, "I feel like I know you," Valkyrie admits with a small smile.
Spencer gives Bruce her shitty disguise and Bruce uses it to clean his face, "I feel like I know you, too!" Bruce grins.
Valkyrie leads them into what Spencer was assuming was Valkyrie's apartment, into a smallish hallway, and down to the end of the hall to a door. There Valkyrie hesitates and turns towards them, "Look, I've spent years in a haze trying to forget my past. Sakaar seemed like the best place to drink and forget, and to die one day," She admits in a rushed, hard voice.
Bruce just nods along as if he understood what was going, but he was probably clueless. Spencer's stomach growled in hunger; she really wanted some food. "I was thinking that you drink too much, and that probably was going to kill you." Thor tells her with a solemn look.
Valkyrie looks mildly annoyed, "I don't plan to stop drinking,"
"Oh," Thor says awkwardly.
Valkyrie sighs, "But I don't want to forget. I can't turn away anymore. So, if I'm going to die, well, it may as well be driving my sword through the heart of that murderous hag."
"Ooo," Spencer says with an excited smile, "You're getting me riled up!" Spencer says.
Valkyrie smirks at Spencer's reaction, "So, I'm saying that I wanna be on the team," Valkyrie tells Thor plainly since Thor didn't exactly understand her words, "Has it got a name?" She questions.
The trio exchange unsure looks, "Erm," Thor looks like his brain is struggling to come up with a decent name, "Yeah! Of course, we do!" Thor laughs awkwardly as Spencer, Valkyrie, and Bruce stare at him expectantly, "It's called the Revengers!"
"Revengers?" Spencer and Valkyrie say at the same time in the same ludicrous tone.
"That's the best you could come up with?" Spencer hisses at Thor.
Thor glares at her, a little hurt, "I didn't exactly have the time to come up with a name! It makes sense, doesn't it? I'm getting revenge, she's getting revenge," Thor explained pointing to himself to Valkyrie and then looked at Bruce.
Poor Bruce just looked awkward and confused.
Thor asks Bruce, "Do you want revenge?"
Bruce shrugs, "I'm undecided, to be honest."
"Okay, fair enough." Thor nods in agreement and looks at Spencer, "Do you want revenge?"
All eyes go onto Spencer, the young woman blinks owlishly before shrugging, "Sure, I can do with some revenge," Spencer bobs her head, "She's destroying my best friend's home, the least I can do is kick her ass, right?" Spencer questions.
Thor gasps lightly, "Best friend? Truly, Spencer? I am your best friend?"
"That's sweet of you, Spencer," Bruce awes.
Spencer rolls her eyes, "This is getting off course again."
Valkyrie smirks at the interaction before adding, "Also, I've got a peace offering." The door to her apartment opens and reveals Loki sitting in the corner in front of the door. Valkyrie is smirking at her handiwork as Loki is restrained with thick, golden chains.
Spencer is howling in laughter as Loki sarcastically says, "Surprise."
The group walk into Valkyrie's apartment; which is trashed and dirty with liquor bottles and cans. Valkyrie is heading to the kitchen, "Drinks?" Valkyrie looked eager to drown a bottle of liquor.
"Anything to eat? I'm starving!" Spencer moans.
"Sure, check the fridge," Spencer moves to the kitchen, but not before seeing Thor grab an empty can of alcohol and fling it at Loki's head; it hits Loki in the forehead and drops to the ground.
Spencer snorted in laughter.
"Ow," Loki growls at his brother.
"Just had to be sure," Thor shrugs.
Spencer is digging through Valkyrie's fridge; the one labeled food. Apparently, Valkyrie had two fridges. One for her booze and the other for food, "Yum, I love these, can I eat these?" Spencer was holding up her favorite Sakaar fruit.
"Feel free," Valkyrie said, chugging down some booze.
Spencer didn't waste any time in stuffing her face at Valkyrie's counter; the older woman watching Spencer's ravenous table manners with an impressed smirk. Spencer saw Bruce lingering in the doorway; eyes intently on Loki. It was easy to see Bruce's hesitation, "Hello, Bruce." Loki greets with an awkward smile.
Bruce walks to Loki with wariness, "So, last time I saw you, you were trying to kill everybody. Where are you at these days?" Bruce asks sarcastically.
"It varies from moment to moment," Loki responds darkly.
Spencer laughs at the expression on Bruce's face and Bruce looks at Spencer mortified by Loki's words, "And this guy saved your life? And you've been living with him?" Bruce demanded in shock.
"He grows on you," Spencer responds cheekily, watching as Valkyrie places something onto the counter next to Spencer. It doesn't take a genius to see that it was a sword, but not just any sword, it was a Dragonfang. They were powerful swords with sapphiric steel blades and hilts carved from dragon's teeth, that were only carried by the Valkyries in battle. Spencer and Thor's eyes went wide as Valkyrie unwrapped it and handed it to Spencer, giving the younger woman permission to hold it.
Spencer's mouth dropped as she held the Dragonfang; it was extremely lightweight and felt amazing in her hand. Spencer twirled the sword between her fingers in complete awe; Thor looked envious, and Valkyrie was watching Spencer with a smirk.
Spencer caught Thor's jealous gaze and smirked at her friend, "Jealous?" Spencer taunted with a giggle.
Thor pouted and muttered, "Not fair."
Spencer placed Dragonfang back down onto the counter and Thor hurried to look at it more closely, "So," Valkyrie begins the conversation, "Sakaar and Asgard are about as far apart as any two known systems," Spencer perked up instantly, "Our best bet is a wormhole just outside the city limits."
Valkyrie continues, since Thor is too busy wielding the Dragonfang, "We refuel on Xander and be back in Asgard in around eighteen months."
Spencer nearly chokes on her fruit, "Eighteen months?!" She cries out in horror.
"They'll fly by quickly, don't worry," Valkyrie reassures.
"Are you not scared by this?" Spencer asks Bruce, who is in the kitchen stuffing his face with fruit, "Buddy, slow down before you make yourself sick." Spencer tells him with friendly concern.
Bruce shrugs off her concern, "I don't know what these are, but they are delicious." Bruce comments giddily.
Spencer looked at her friend with amusement; the big guy really liked his fruit too. "Nope," Thor suddenly says after satisfying his excitement over Dragonfang, "We're going through that one," Thor points outside Valkyrie's window to the nightmare tornado wormhole outside the city.
"Are you shitting me?" Spencer was horrified.
"The Devil's Anus?" Valkyrie echoed with a ludicrous expression.
"Anus?!" That finally got Bruce to stop eating and got back into the conversation, "Wait, whose anus are we going through?" Bruce demanded, looking scared and shocked.
"For the record, I didn't know it was called that when I picked it," Thor told them defensively.
"That looks like a collapsing neutron star inside an Einstein-Rosen bridge!" Bruce looked at the Wormhole excitedly.
"We need another ship," Valkyrie rejoined the group with a large bottle of liquor, "That would tear mine to pieces." She explained.
"She's right, we need one that can withstand the geodetic strain from the singularity," Thor adds in with a nod of understanding. Bruce and Spencer look at Thor with quizzical looks before looking at each other in slight surprise.
"And has an offline power steering system that could also function without the on-board computer." Bruce added.
"And we need one with cup holders, because we're gonna die, so, drinks!" Valkyrie cheered, holding up her bottle of booze and a funny grin on her face.
"Do I know you? I feel like I know you." Bruce states again with a grin.
"I feel like I know you, too," Valkyrie states with a tipsy laugh, "It's weird." The older woman goes to into her bedroom to grab something.
"What do you say, doctor? Uncharted metagalactic travel through a volatile cosmic gateway," Thor grins at Bruce, "Talk about an adventure."
Bruce grins back, and they high-five; Spencer just stares at them blankly before looking at Loki, who shrugs in his chains, "They're your friends."
"We need a ship," Thor confirms.
"Yeah, we need a ship," Bruce echoes, looking more pumped and less stressed out about this whole ordeal now.
"There are one or two ships," Valkyrie returns and stands back in the group, "Absolute top of the line models-"
'I don't mean to impose-" Loki began to speak, but Valkyrie throws her bottle at him; it explodes behind Loki, though the God of Mischief didn't look phased, "But the Grandmaster has a great many ships. I may have even stolen the access codes to his security system." Loki looks smug now, as if Valkyrie didn't just throw a bottle at his head.
"And suddenly you're overcome with an urge to do the right thing," Valkyrie sneers at Loki with dripping sarcasm and doubt.
"Heavens, no-"
"Hold on!" Spencer suddenly realized, cutting off Loki and all eyes turned to her now, "How long have you had these access codes?" Spencer growled, stepping up towards Loki.
Loki grimaces as if realizing where he screwed up.
Spencer's eyes are dark and angry, "Don't go shy on me now, Loki," Spencer's voice was quiet, but filled with fury, "You always love to talk so, talk before I make you talk!" Spencer snarled, her hands curling into fists.
Loki sighs, "I've had them for a few days," He admits, "But I was trying to figure out the right time to use them!" Loki defended himself.
Spencer barked out a laugh; it sounded harsh and cruel coming from her; everyone stared at Spencer in bewilderment; though Valkyrie looked ready to propose to Spencer, "Don't think I wasn't aware of your ulterior motives, Loki, don't take me for a fool," Spencer spat down at him.
Loki had the decency to look a little ashamed, "Okay, okay, I'm sorry, but I am not lying when i say I was trying my best to get you back home, Spencer," Loki expressed seriously.
Spencer's eyes narrowed on the chains wrapped around Loki's chest; Loki's eyes widened, "N-Now, Spencer-"
Spencer grinned in an almost feral way as the golden chains around Loki tightened; Loki gasped at the suddenness of it, "Asshole," Spencer muttered, feeling a bit betrayed, but she didn't blame anyone but herself for being so trusting with Loki. The chains that were tightening around Loki like a snake suddenly sagged back to their original state.
"As you were saying," Spencer dismissed coldly.
Loki huffed in slight pain, "I've run out of favor with the Grandmaster, and in exchange for codes and access to a ship, I'm asking for safe passage through the anus." Loki quietly says.
"You're telling us that you can get us access into the garage without setting off any alarms?" Thor reiterated.
Loki looked annoyed but nods, "Yes, brother, I can."
Bruce steps forward, "Okay, can I just-" Bruce gestures to the group to come in for a huddle, "A quick FYI, I was just talking to him just a couple of minutes ago, and he was totally ready to kill any of us." Bruce hurriedly whispered.
"He did try to kill me," Valkyrie agreed with her arms crossed around her chest.
"He did kill my father," Spencer mused, earning a bewildered look from Valkyrie.
"Seriously?" Valkyrie rasped in horror.
Spencer bobbed her head, "Yup, right in front of me."
"And me," Thor added in, "He's tried to kill me on many, many occasions. There was this one time, when we were children, he transformed himself into a snake, and he knows that I love snakes," The group listened intently to Thor's story, "So, I went to pick up the snake to admire it, and he transformed back into himself, and he was like, "Yeah, it's me!" And he stabbed me. We were eight at the time." Bruce was gasping, and slowly the group turned to look at the person in question.
Loki was sitting straight, trying and failing to suppress a smile.
"Wow, dick move," Spencer muttered.
"If we're boosting a ship, we're gonna need to draw some guards away from the palace," Valkyrie reminds them.
"Why not set the beast loose?" Loki drawls.
"Shut up!" Thor hisses at Loki.
Bruce starts to panic as Valkyrie's face lights up with excitement, "You guys have a beast?"
"No, no," Spencer shakes her head.
"No, there's no beast," Valkyrie looks disappointed now, "He's just being stupid, we're going to start a revolution." Thor says firmly.
"Revolution?" Bruce and Spencer parrot in confusion.
"I'll explain later," Thor tells them in a low voice.
"Who's this guy again?" Valkyrie asks, eying Bruce.
"I'll explain later," Thor tells her.
Spencer grumbles, "I need some time to get back to my apartment to get my things," She looks at the group, "What's the plan? I just need ten minutes. Not to sound like a brat, but I'm not leaving this planet without my backpack." Spencer pointed out.
"You have an apartment?" Bruce looks confused.
Spencer nods, "Yeah, with Loki."
"With him?!" Bruce cries out.
Spencer nods, "He's not that bad, okay?" Spencer grumbles, "He did save my life, remember?" Spencer reminds.
"After he killed your father?" Valkyrie asks.
"Well, years later, yes." Spencer replied.
"And yet you consider him a friend?" Valkyrie balked.
Spencer shrugged, "My boyfriend got me shot once upon a time."
Valkyrie just stared at Spencer, "You're weird."
The others are nodding along to this in silent agreement, "Relationships are weird," Spencer countered.
Valkyrie sighed, "Okay, here's the plan."
