CHAPTER SIX: THE GLAMROCKS
I woke up on my own, rather than to the sound of my alarm clock. It took me a moment to realize that I forgot to set up my alarm before going to sleep. Normally, that would've annoyed me to no end, but it didn't. I was as happy as I could ever be, something strange for someone like me.
As I rubbed my eyes to get rid of the morning fog, along with cleaning the corners of my eyes of eye boogers, it took me a moment to realize something else.
'I slept through the night without any nightmares,' I thought to myself, almost stopping midway through cleaning the corners of my eyes. 'I wonder why that happened.' I shrugged my shoulders. 'I guess I shouldn't question it. I should be glad I woke up without being a sweaty mess.'
I finished cleaning out my eyes and began to stretch to get the blood flowing. Once that was done, I hopped out of bed and walked over to the bedroom door. I opened it and stepped out of the room, closing the door behind me.
I entered the kitchen in good spirits, feeling a smile on my face. Lisa and my parents are sitting at the table eating away at their breakfast, which consisted of eggs and bacon. There was a lone plate sitting at the table, the food waiting to be devoured by me. My father looked up from his plate, looking ready to call out my name when he caught sight of me.
"Oh, Mihael, you're up," he said, surprise clear in his tone. He must've seen the big smile on my face because the surprise became present on his face. "I see you're in good spirits. What's got you in such a good mood?"
I couldn't help but feel offended by the question, but at the same time, I understood the reasoning behind it. It's not every day I wake up in the morning in a jolly good mood, considering I was the family's biggest pessimist and always in a foul mood. Plus, it was also because I always woke up from nightmares, which didn't help my mental health with everything that has been going on at the Mega Pizzaplex.
I shrugged, a smirk taking my smile's place. "I don't know. I just am. There's nothing wrong with that, is there?"
"No, I was just wondering, son," my father replied as I took my usual spot at the table. I began to eat, the food thankfully still warm.
"I bet it has something to do with Roxy," Lisa suddenly said. I instinctively spat out the piece of egg that I had in my mouth, coughing uncontrollably. It took me a good moment for me to collect myself before turning my attention to my sister.
"Absolutely not!" I declared. "She's a robot designed to entertain children, for God's sake. It doesn't mean anything special."
"Are you sure?" she teased. "If that's true, then why are you blushing so hard?"
It took me a moment to realize the familiar heat in my cheeks. The heat in my cheeks built up at this. I slapped myself to get it back in check.
"I'm not!" I exclaimed. "It's because you keep saying things that aren't true!"
"Mmm-hmm, sure it is," she said, that stupid smirk on her face growing.
"SHUT UP!" I shouted.
"I think it's adorable, you finally making friends," she teased. I bared my teeth at her, grabbing my spoon off the table. I got up from my chair, glaring at her as I raised it in the air.
"That's it, I'm going to crush you," I threatened. Lisa seemed to have gotten the hint because her eyes widened at the sight. She hopped out of her seat and began to run. I chased after her, the spoon over my head. "I'm gonna smack you!"
She shrieked as I caught up to her, smacking her with the spoon. It only prompted her to go faster. That prompted me to do the same, a fierce determination to get back at her.
"Get back here, you son of a bitch!" I ordered.
"Did you have to hit me that hard?" she asked, rubbing her head with her hands from where I hit her with the spoon a good number of times. We were in my truck as I drove her to the school.
"Yes, you deserved it," I said bluntly. "You didn't take the hint, so I had to make it clear with the use of an old friend."
"Well, I think your friend went a little overboard," Lisa said sarcastically as she went ahead and rubbed her arm.
"Well, pain can either be your teacher or your worst tormentor, little missy," I retorted. "You kept teasing me so I decided that pain should teach you a lesson."
She didn't say anything. She pouted, which I found to be adorable, but I didn't say anything. She had that coming. If she stopped when I told her to, the pain wouldn't have been used to teach her a lesson about not taking things too far. Honestly, I really hate having to go to such lengths, but if I hadn't, she would've kept going.
We arrived at the middle school shortly after, neither of us said a single word. I pulled up in front of the school and looked at my sister. That pouty expression was no longer on her face. Instead, she had a blank expression.
"We're here," I said simply.
"I know," she said blankly. I stared at her like she just lost a screw.
"Well, I hope you have a great day," I said casually. "Don't get into any trouble or kick your butt."
She nodded before she opened the door and hopped out, slamming the door shut. She walked over to the school. I kept my eyes trained on her until she entered the building. I stayed where I was, waiting to see if anything happened. When nothing did, I drove out of the parking lot and headed back to the house, ready to start another day of doing chores for my mother.
*A FEW HOURS LATER*
I tossed the trash bag into the trash bin before closing the lid. I wiped the sweat off of my forehead as I walked back into the house. I closed the door behind me, letting out a huge gasp.
"There, it's done!" I exclaimed. My mother walked into the living room, having been done cleaning the kitchen. A small, warm smile formed on her face.
"Thanks," she said.
"Anything else?" I asked. She went into deep thought. I waited for what would be next as I wiped the sweat off my forehead again with the back of my right hand.
"Nope, that was it," she said finally. "Now, go take a shower, you little stinker."
I gave her a deadpan expression, ignoring the sweat that continued to trail down my face. I stayed where I was for a moment before I took off my shoes and went upstairs to go take a shower.
I turned off the water and stepped out of the tub, water dripping and trailing down my body. I grabbed my towel and began to dry off. As I did, I walked over to the sink where the small glass container of Q-tips was sitting. After drying off my chest, I wrapped the towel around me and grabbed two Q-tips. I cleaned out my ears and threw them away. I looked in the mirror, my reflection staring back at me.
Suddenly, I thought about what happened yesterday with Roxanne. So many questions formed in my head. Although I liked the warm feeling from last night, the feeling of doubt came crashing down on me.
'Why me, Roxanne?' I thought to myself as I continued to stare at my reflection in the mirror. 'Why me when you have so many others who are better than me? Who are not as hideous? Who is not some… shiny vampire?'
The last question sent a hot dagger to my heart. I shut my eyes tightly at that, a tear trailing down my face. I just didn't get it. I wasn't someone special or anything of the sort. There were plenty of kids that she could spend most of her time with and not waste it on a 17-year-old kid. And yet, she looked really happy to see me and wanted to do things with me, creating jealousy amongst the other kids. So… why?
I opened my eyes and was taken aback by the wet trails on my face. I must've been crying without realizing it. I wiped my tears away, keeping my eyes on the mirror.
As I did, I felt something within me. A strong urge… no, more like a desire to get… closer to Roxanne. I placed my right hand on my chest where my heart was. That feeling became stronger. Is this what it's supposed to feel like? Feel very… alien?
I looked away and stormed out of the bathroom, unsure what to make any of it.
'I'm going to take a nap,' I thought to myself as I opened my door and slammed it shut behind me. 'I hope I get no dreams. I don't need any.'
"Mihael… big brother, wake up," I stirred in my sleep as a voice whispered softly in my right ear. I groaned as I sat up in my bed, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. I checked to see Lisa standing beside the bed.
"Lisa, you're back from school," I whispered softly. "When did you get back?"
"Around like 20 minutes ago," she replied. She looked at me for a moment. "Are you okay? You look like something's bothering you. It even showed while you were sleeping."
I stared at her for a moment, thinking about whether I should tell her or not. I loved my sister and all, but I didn't want to tell her everything. At the same time, it would be nice to get things off of my chest, knowing it would help me feel better. Yet, I wasn't ready to tell her about what happened in the bathroom.
I gave her my best soothing smile. "I'm fine, Lisa. It's nothing to be concerned about. I appreciate your concern, though."
She eyed me intensely, no doubt trying to see if I telling the truth. I stared back at her, waiting to see what she would do next. However, I had a feeling she might keep pushing on it. Out of the both of us, if she wanted to, she would be the most mature child in this household. Funnily enough, she sometimes acted like the oldest sibling, always looking out for me when I should be looking out for her since I was the oldest.
"I don't believe you," she said finally. "You have something on your mind, and whatever it is, it's eating away at you. Mihael, I'm your sister. You can tell me anything. We're family, after all."
I stared at her for a moment. It was true that I could tell her anything, but there were some things that I preferred to keep to myself, and that included the desire to get closer to Roxanne. It may help get some answers, I prefer learning it on my own.
"Lisa, I know that, and again, I appreciate your concern," I said. "However, what I've got going on in my head is something I prefer to keep to myself. I know that you're concerned, but I'm going to be a grown man next year and I don't want to rely on others too much. If I do want to tell you, I will let you know."
A frown formed on her face along with an expression of what looked to be hurt.
"Do you not trust me, Mihael?" she asked. I felt my heart ache at that question, but I kept myself composed.
"Lisa, I trust you and you know that," I said softly. "But like I said, I don't want to rely on others too much and there are things I don't want to share. When I feel ready, I will. Believe me."
The hurt expression remained on her face, but she nodded her head. It genuinely hurt me to see her upset, but I wanted to know if that feeling I had in the bathroom was normal. It was nice to learn from other people, but this was different.
"So, did you come here to let me know we will be heading over to the Pizzaplex?" I guessed, both trying to lighten her mood while also knowing what the answer will be.
Lisa smiled softly. "Yeah, that was the sole reason for coming to wake you up. Dad wanted me to tell you to get ready in 30 minutes."
"Understood, I'll be ready in no time," I said. With that, Lisa walked out of the bedroom, closing the door behind her. I stayed where I was for a moment before I hopped out of bed.
I took off my pajamas and threw them onto the bed. I walked over to my dresser and grabbed a plain T-shirt and blue shorts, along with a pair of socks. I put them on, flattening out my shirt and shorts before putting on my socks.
Once I got my clothes on, I thought about the Pizzaplex. For some reason, I felt a surge of excitement at being able to see Roxanne. I only hung out with her twice and after yesterday, maybe I was a little wrong about her. Maybe the wolf mascot wasn't as bad as I originally thought. Who knows? Maybe I will have more fun than I had back at the arcade. Maybe do it with the whole family.
Suddenly, the thought of my family waiting for me downstairs was enough to snap me out of my thoughts. I made sure everything was ok before I walked out of the bedroom, closing the door behind me.
We pulled into the parking lot of the Pizzaplex, which of course, was full of cars. It was no big surprise, considering that it was a Friday, the last school day of any week before the weekend. If I had to put it simply, the busiest days of the week for the Mega Pizzaplex were Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and who can forget, the holidays.
My father found a parking spot, which was a little bit of a walk from the Pizzaplex, and turned off the engine. We hopped out of the car, slamming the doors behind us. I stared at the Pizzaplex with a mix of both hate and excitement. Hate for what has been happening and excitement for who was waiting inside.
We began to walk over to the Mega Pizzaplex, walking past a few families who were already leaving to go home with happy, yet tired expressions on their faces. Some of the kids were upset about leaving, yet some looked satisfied and holding plush toys of one of the four mascots. I smiled while keeping the hate that I felt for the Mega Pizzaplex at bay. It was nice to see them happy, yet it was awful to know that kids had been going missing and hadn't been found as of yet.
'Here we go again,' I thought to myself as we approached the front doors and stepped inside.
'Why does this place always amaze me?' I asked myself in my head as we entered the Lobby, which was crowded with families who had kids that were screaming in either excitement, fear, or maybe even frustration. God only knows what could be going through those kids' heads.
"So," I began slowly. Mom, Dad, and Lisa turned their attention to me. "Do any of you have any plans on what we're going to do today?"
They all looked at each other, slight surprise plastered on their faces. I couldn't blame them. It wasn't like me to ask questions such as that. 100% of the time, I just remain in a bad mood and be all negative, considering how awful the place was in general.
"Well," my father began, "since everything has been going well so far, and I know I can trust you both, I figured that you and Lisa go have fun like last time."
I blinked a few times before the words had fully registered in my head. I was surprised, yet should have been. Since there hasn't been a disappearance in the last 2 weeks, and since nothing bad has happened yet, my father might be starting to feel a little bit more confident that we will be okay. Yet at the same time, there might come a time when we will have to go back to the same roots that we had been since Bobby Walker disappeared.
"Sweet!" Lisa shouted happily. She turned her full attention to me. "So, what do you want to do?"
"Well…" I began.
"ROCKSTAR, YOU'RE HERE!" shouted a voice that was all too familiar to me. We all turned at the same time to see Roxanne Wolf charging at us at full speed with her arms stretched out in front of her, a wide and happy smile on her face.
I didn't know why, but seeing Roxanne like that was setting off my fight-or-flight instincts like crazy. Any sane mind in the world would start running by seeing that. I would be running for my life faster than Sonic the Hedgehog, but I was glued to my spot.
"Oh, hey Roxanne," I said loudly. "Nice to see-"
I was cut off by Roxanne doing something I never thought she would ever do or ever expected to happen to me in a million years; she wrapped her arms around me, proceeding to give me a hug.
I felt my heart beating fast in my chest, the voice of a lot of the kids who were undoubtedly watching this spectacle catching my full attention.
"Hey, why is Roxanne hugging that guy?"
"I want a hug too!"
"That's not fair!"
"Lucky!"
"He smells like an old man!"
"What makes him so special?!"
I decided to ignore them and focus on the animatronic that had me in a slightly embarrassing, yet warm embrace. I had no idea what the expressions on my family's faces were, but if I had to guess, it had to be a mixture of shock, excitement, and amusement.
"It's so good to see you!" she exclaimed happily.
"Uhh, nice to see you too, Roxanne," I said, embarrassed. Roxanne finally let me go. I turned my full attention to my family. They had the exact expression I guessed they would have. I didn't know, but Lisa looked like she was going to burst into laughter at any moment. I collected myself. "So, how have you been?"
She beamed brightly at the question. "I've been great, Rockstar! I was wondering if you were going to come because I have something really special planned and I'm really that you are here."
"That's great to hear," I said nonchalantly, butterflies forming in my stomach. "So, what is it that you have planned?"
"I want to introduce you to my friends," Roxanne replied, the smile still on her face. "I told them all about you and they want to meet you in person."
I felt my heart skip a beat at that. Meeting her friends for the first time? That's something I never thought would happen. To be quite honest, I've never met them since my family and I have been coming here for the past 2 years. Now that I thought about it, it was a bit odd that I never did. Was it because we somehow never bumped into each other due to fate or what?
To be honest, it sounded like a cool idea to meet them, but at the same time, it didn't. I didn't feel comfortable with meeting any of Roxanne's bandmates at the moment. I preferred to be only close to her and take things slow. However, the smile on her face told me it was something really important to her.
I took a deep breath before letting it out.
"Is that so?" I asked. She nodded her head. "Well then, I guess we better go meet them. Wouldn't want to keep them waiting for too long. That would be considered rude in my eyes." I turned my full attention to Lisa. "Come on, Lisa. Let's go."
Lisa didn't move. Instead, she turned around and motioned for our parents with her right hand. They both leaned their heads forward and Lisa began whispering into their ears. I arched an eyebrow at them, curious as to what was going on. Whatever it was that Lisa was whispering to them, they kept nodding their heads, and smirks formed on their faces. For some reason, I didn't like those smirks one little bit.
They finally straightened their postures, turning their attention to me. Lisa turned around to face me, a smile on her face.
"Actually, you go on ahead," she said. "I'm going to spend time with Mom and Dad. I've already met them so I think you should go meet them yourself. You know, to make the moment a little special for you, big brother."
My eyes widened slightly at that. I stared at her for a moment, blinking my eyes a few times and cleaning out my ears, even though I cleaned them earlier. My head began to feel very heavy as if it suddenly weighed a hundred pounds. Was this for real?
If I had to guess, that was probably what Lisa was whispering to them just seconds earlier. Maybe my mother would agree to it, but my father might be more hesitant. After all, kids were going missing around here. Even though it was only happening to kids that were around 6 - 12 years old, it could happen to me.
"You're kidding, right?" I asked. She shook her head. I turned my attention to our parents. "Do you really agree with this?"
"We do," my mother replied. "You're going to be with Roxanne Wolf so we know you will be safe and sound with her."
"And I think it will help you loosen up a bit, as well," my father chimed in. "Have a wonderful time."
My father's response caught me by surprise. It was like seeing a much different side to him; a side that I never knew existed inside him. Before I could say anything, I felt something grab hold of my left hand. I looked to see that Roxanne had wrapped her hand around mine gently.
"That's great!" Roxanne exclaimed happily. "I'll bring him back in 2 hours." She turned to face me, her smile shining brightly. " Come on, Rockstar! Let's go!"
With that, Roxanne began dragging me to wherever her friends might be, with me wondering what the hell was going on.
'This is so embarrassing,' I thought to myself, my cheeks red as Roxanne continued to hold my hand and drag me to wherever she wanted to take me. A lot of the local kids were glaring at me along the way, no doubt jealous that Roxanne was acting this way towards me and not them. 'Jeez, what's their problem?'
We pushed forward through a series of double doors. I checked my surroundings. The familiar eerieness of the place, the neon lights with the names of the mascots, and the lighting of the room was all that I needed to know that we were in Rockstar Row.
"Roxanne, why are we here?" I asked, even though something deep down had a feeling why.
"My friends are here," she replied. "I told them to wait here while I went to go looking for you, you know, in case you and your family decided to come here at some point today. I wanted to introduce you to my friends here."
I nodded, my heart pounding in my chest. My legs started to feel a little weak, my head began to swim, and my hands began to shake. It was insane enough that Lisa introduced me to Roxanne Wolf a few days ago, but it was totally different to have her introduce me to her friends shortly afterward. It was both exhilarating and scary at the same time.
"There they are," Roxanne said, snapping me out of my thoughts. I looked in the direction she was pointing. That was when I first saw them.
They were standing in front of the statue that had Roxanne holding a racing flag in her hand. They were chatting amongst themselves. I couldn't hear what was being said between them, but if I had to guess, it was probably something random.
To the left was the titular mascot himself; Freddy Fazbear. He was an orange bear wearing a top hat and black bow tie. He had light blue eyes and claws, a red earring in his left ear, and was wearing red shoulder pauldrons, and spiked bracelets.
The one in the center was Glamrock Chica. She was a white and pink chicken with an orange beak, dark blue eyes, and orange feet. She had stray feathers on the top of her head, a pink bow, a pink marking surrounding her right eye, spiked bracelets on her wrists, and green triangular-shaped earrings.
The last mascot on the right was Montgomery Gator. He was an alligator with green scales sporting a red mohawk, green scale-textured pants, and black claws. He was wearing spiked bracelets on his wrists, yellow-star-shaped sunglasses, and purple shoulder pauldrons.
"Hey guys!" Roxanne called out. They all turned in our direction at the same time.
I tensed up, my stomach feeling funny. The instinct to run away and hide was overwhelming my senses. My hands, feet, and legs all began shaking, making it difficult to stay balanced. God, it was like the first day of starting at a new school all over again.
"Hey, Roxanne!" they called back as we walked over to them. We stopped about a foot away from them. They turned their attention to me. I tensed up, beads of sweat forming on my forehead.
"So, is this the guy you kept talking about?" Montgomery asked.
"Yep," Roxanne replied, pointing to me. "Everyone, this is Mihael Patel. Go on. Say hi."
I did nothing. I just stared at them, my body shaking immensely. The instinct to run was overpowering, yet my body stayed where it was, refusing to move or obey me. I looked away, my cheeks becoming warm. It didn't help that I could feel the sweat trailing down my face.
"I think I left the sink on back home," I said hastily, turning my body around. "Bye!"
"Now, don't be shy, little fella," Chica said, placing a hand on my left shoulder. She turned me around so that I was facing her. "Our friend didn't bring you here just for you to leave so suddenly. I think we will be the bestest of friends."
"Eep!" I blurted out, my shaking reaching uncontrollable levels.
"Wow," I heard Montgomery say in the background, chuckling as he did. "Roxy, you never said anything about him being such a big, fat scaredy-cat."
"S-shut up!" I retorted, my body refusing to stop shaking and the beads of sweat continuing to form and fall. "This i-is just so s-sudden, you know. I-I never thought I w-would ever m-m-meet you guys in p-person!"
I turned my attention to Roxanne, who looked like she was trying her best to fight off her laughter. The sight made my heart ache. I was already embarrassed enough. The last thing I needed was to be laughed at by someone I wanted to get closer with.
"I apologize if we're making you so nervous," Freddy said calmly, his face apologetic. Seeing that face was enough to help me get somewhat of a hold over myself.
"There's no need to apologize," I said slowly. "It's not really your fault. I honestly wasn't expecting any of this to happen. You can imagine my surprise when Roxanne told me that she wanted to introduce me to you guys." I cleared my throat. "So yeah, my name's Mihael Patel."
"Yeah, we know," Montgomery said matter-of-factly. "Roxy told us all about you, including what happened yesterday." He stopped for a moment before he snickered. "Imagine my surprise when she told us that you beat her in her own game and on Whack-A-Mole. Classic."
Roxanne glared at him before she smacked him on the back of the head, the impact sending his head to lean forward. I flinched at the action, blinking my eyes a few times.
"Hey!" Montgomery shouted angrily.
"Shut up, Monty!" she growled. "I lost to him because I wasn't on my A-game and his dumb luck!"
I couldn't help but chuckle lightly at that. I could tell that was a lie. When I was competing against her, she showed signs that she was giving it her all. It wasn't 'dumb luck' that caused Roxanne to lose against me; it was because she faced against someone that was better than her. Maybe if Roxanne practiced a lot, her skills might improve even a little bit.
"Speaking of which, do you guys have any ideas on what we can do?" I asked. Everyone turned their attention to me.
"Oh, we can have pizza at the pizzeria!" Chica suggested. Roxanne facepalmed at that.
"You always suggest that, Chica!" Roxanne exclaimed.
"I can't help it!" she retorted. "Besides, who doesn't love a good pizza?!"
I chuckled once again, rolling my eyes as I did. Just from this, I could tell that this was something that happened between the two of them on occasion. I could only hope that this didn't initiate a catfight. That was the last thing any of us needed to deal with at the moment.
"Well, how about we play some golf at my attraction?" Montgomery suggested. We all turned our attention to him.
Honestly, golf sounded like a good idea. It wasn't one of those sports where it involved you working up much of a sweat. It was one that was peaceful and quiet and was a lot of fun.
"Fuck yeah, I'm up for that!" I exclaimed. "Let's do it! Lead the way!"
Montgomery led us to his attraction, an indoor mini-golf course called 'Monty's Gator Golf'. The attraction was jungle-themed with some alligator props that made sounds that were very similar to that of a real alligator and a few cutouts. There were huts at certain parts of the attraction with a huge bucket that had to be filled with God knows what. Probably water or such.
"So, this is Monty's Gator Golf?" I asked no one in particular.
"Sure is," Montgomery replied pridefully.
"It's um…" I hesitated. "It's very… spooky."
Montgomery gave me a slight glare. "It's not that spooky."
"What do you mean?" I asked, pointing it out. "What with all the lighting and the alligator props, it's definitely spooky. I would be surprised if this place hasn't given any of the kiddies night terrors."
"It's not THAT creepy," Montgomery growled.
"Okay, let's not fight, please," Chica pleaded. "We're all here to have a good time. Let's do that, shall we?"
We looked at each other for a moment before Montgomery began to calm down. I rubbed the back of my head with my right hand.
"Yeah, you're right," I said sheepishly.
"I'll go get the golf clubs and balls," Montgomery said before he began walking away. "I'll be right back."
It didn't take long for us to lose sight of Montgomery. I turned my attention to Freddy, Chica, and Roxanne. They were giving me a big smile of their own. There was a moment of silence between us. None of us said anything to each other.
"So, do you like pizza, Mihael?" Chica asked suddenly.
Roxanne groaned, annoyed. "Chica, I thought I told you to not ask him that."
"What? I can't help it," Chica said. I chuckled. Judging from this alone, I could tell that Chica loved pizza… a lot. Something told me that was a question she had been wanting to ask me for some time now.
"Yeah, pizza is fine," I replied. "It's not really something that my family and I eat all the time. We only do it when we're in the mood for it."
Chica stared at me for a moment before a bright smile formed on her face.
"YES!" she shouted. "Pizza for life!"
Roxanne groaned while Freddy chuckled. I rolled my eyes, amused at this reaction. What I said about pizza was true. If I had to be honest here, my favorite topping on pizza was bacon. I liked other toppings, but bacon was something I genuinely preferred to have on my pizza.
"I'm back!" Montgomery exclaimed, his hands filled with golf clubs and balls. "Let's rock and roll!"
I had to admit, I was having fun. The game went smoothly, despite there being some mishaps and close calls. At the fifth hole, I was readying my golf club to hit the ball. Unfortunately, there was an alligator prop a few meters away from me. When it went off so suddenly, I never let out a girlish scream so loud in my life. I almost jumped in to pummel it.
Another time, we were at the 9th hole. It was Roxanne's turn. She said something before she hit the ball with her golf club. She hit it a too little hard and it went flying. That wouldn't have been so bad… if the ball wasn't so close to taking out Montgomery's left eye. If his head was an inch closer, it would've taken it out. I doubt it would've been fun.
Now, we were currently at the 18th hole. Roxanne failed to get a hole-in-one, but she did get a double boogie.
"Your turn, Mihael," Roxanne said. I nodded and took her spot. The thing was that I haven't gotten a hole-in-one in this whole game. I prayed I would get on this time.
I placed the ball on the floor and readied my golf club. When I was ready, I hit the little ball with the club. The small ball began to roll. Anticipation overwhelmed me as the ball rolled, inching its way closer to the hole. It took a moment for it to reach the hole.
My heart began beating rapidly in my chest, threatening to burst. I watched the ball as if my life depended on it. I prayed that it would fall in. If not, then shit.
As if luck was on my side, the ball leaned over and fell into the hole. I stared at the hole with my eyes wide in shock.
"HOLE-IN-ONE!" they all shouted excitedly behind me. Montgomery walked behind me and gave me a pat on the back.
"Nicely done, little guy!" he said proudly. I rubbed the back of my head sheepishly.
"Thanks, Montgomery," I said softly.
"Well done, superstar!" Freddy congratulated me. Chica wrapped her arms around me and began to hug me tightly.
"Congrats, Mihael!" she exclaimed happily. I nodded my head before looking over to Roxanne. Maybe it was my imagination, but it looked as though she was… jealous?
I suddenly felt a vibration in my pocket. I tapped Chica rapidly to let her know to let me go. She seemed to get the message and let me go. I reached into my pocket and took out my phone. I flipped it open and put it close to my ear.
"Hello?" I said into the phone.
"Hey, boo-boo bear," the familiar voice of my mother said over the phone. A deadpan expression formed on my face.
"I'm going to pretend you didn't just say that," I said. "Anyway, what's up?"
"It's time to go," she said. I felt my heart drop at that. Did the time fly by that quickly? Had to be since she was calling me.
"Okay, I will be at the Lobby in a minute," I said calmly.
"We'll be waiting," she said. With that, she hung up. I put the phone back in my pocket, aiming my attention at the mascots.
"That was my mom," I said. "It's time for me to head home."
"Really?" Chica asked, disappointment clear in her tone. "Can't you stay a little longer?"
I shook my head. "No can do. My father is strict on this kind of thing. When we have to leave at a certain time, that's the time we are leaving. No exceptions."
Sadness was clear on her face. I could tell she wanted to object, but she understood there was no convincing. For some reason, I felt my heart ache at that. I've only known her for a short time, and yet, I wanted to see her smile again.
"I'll lead you back to the Lobby," Roxanne said, walking over to my side.
"I'm coming too," Chica said, sticking to my side.
"I am as well," Freddy said as he walked over to me.
"I'm going to stay here," Montgomery said. "It was nice hanging out with you, Mihael."
I nodded my head we headed in the direction of the elevator. We all stepped in at the same time. Roxanne pushed a button and the doors closed. I felt the elevator begin to move. It felt awkward at having being cramped in an elevator with 3 of the mascots. It was a little better than being cramped in here when the five of us were in here.
The elevator stopped moving before we heard a ding. The elevator doors opened and we stepped out, heading in the direction of the Main Lobby.
"Give it back!" we heard a kid beg. We stopped in our tracks and looked to see a little kid trying to reach for his Monty plushy, which was being held up in the air by the antagonizing force. I felt sick to my stomach when I recognized him; a semi-buff boy with combed black hair, a black eye, still healing broken nose, and a smile that would make even the Devil cringe… Kenny Wilds.
"If you want it, you're gonna have to do better than that," Kenny mocked sinisterly.
"Give it!" the little boy begged, hopping like a bunny to get his plushy back.
"Sorry, but I don't give back the goods to whiners," Kenny mocked. The little boy glared at him before he punched him in the family jewels. Kenny groaned in pain for a moment before he glared back at the boy. "You little SHIT!"
He pulled back his leg and thrust it forward. His foot struck the kid in the stomach. He cried out in pain before he fell onto the floor, clutching his stomach as tears formed in the corner of his eyes. I heard Freddy, Chica, and Roxanne gasp behind me.
My eyes widened, my body tensing up. Time slowed down as it took a moment for the events that took place to click in. I felt something raw and powerful flow through me, my blood boiling. Today was going great and of course, Kenny had to show up and ruin it for someone.
"HEY!" I shouted loudly. Kenny jumped and quickly turned his head in our direction. His eyes widened a little upon seeing me before a sinister smile formed on his face.
"Well, well, if it isn't Mihael," he said evilly. He began to walk over to us, the plushy still in his hand. "What a nice surprise. I didn't expect to see you here today."
"I didn't expect to see a piece of worthless life like you walking among these parts either," I spat venomously. That sinister smile left his face, being replaced with a glare.
"You better watch it, Mihael," he growled angrily. "After what you did to me a few days ago, I wouldn't mind kicking your ass in front of everyone. In fact, I think I should right now. Would be the best kind of payback."
I could feel eyes on me, no doubt Freddy, Chica, Roxanne, and the little boy. I clenched my fists, fighting the urge to jump him and give him another beating.
"Kenny, you and I both know that you deserved that," I said calmly despite the rage clear in my tone. "You had zero right to say such nasty shit about Lisa, who happens to be my sister. In fact, you know damn well that you don't stand a chance against me. While you are strong, it still doesn't mean shit to someone who knows all martial arts. If I were you, I give that kid back his plushy or I will personally give you a reason to do so."
Kenny continued to glare at me for a moment before it suddenly left his face. I felt uneasy at this. Whenever Kenny did that, it meant only one thing; he was thinking of a plan. Whatever plan it was, I knew it wasn't going to be anything good.
After a moment, that sinister smile reformed on his face. I tensed at that.
"I don't think I will," he sneered. "In fact, here's exactly what I'm going to do. First, I'm going to do this."
Kenny placed his hands on the plushy's head and neck. His smile grew some more. It took me a moment to realize what he was going to do. Before I could do anything to stop him, he pulled at the plushy as hard as he could. A sickening tearing sound echoed throughout the lobby. Kenny laughed evilly as he dropped the remains of the plushy on the floor.
I felt my blood boil. I clenched my fists tightly, small twinges of pain surging through. That was the last straw. Not only was he picking on a little kid for no reason other than sick pleasure, but he went ahead and tore apart the plushy, no doubt out of spite. He was going to get it now.
"Now-" was all Kenny was able to say before I swung my right fist. It connected with the left side of his face, a few of his teeth flying out of his disgusting mouth. He spun like a Beyblade for a moment before he fell flat on his stomach a few feet away from me.
I straightened my posture, glaring at Kenny, who was groaning in pain.
"I warned you," I growled angrily. I knew that I did something a bit reckless, but I wasn't going to let him get away with it.
"Kenny!" someone suddenly shouted. We looked to see a man with brown hair with a fit build and a woman with long, silky black hair with a curvaceous body running over to Kenny. I recognized them as Kenny's parents.
"What happened?!" Mr. Wilds demanded.
"That… boy… punched me in the face," Kenny simply said, pointing in my direction. Mrs. Wilds slowly turned her head in my direction, her eyes full of rage. I stared at her, unfazed.
"How DARE you hurt my baby!" she shouted. She got up and started walking over to me. "Nobody hurts my little baby and gets away with it!"
"No, don't hurt him!" shouted the little boy who ran over to shield me from her. Mrs. Wilds stopped in her tracks, glaring at the boy. "He tried to stand up for me when your son wouldn't give me back my plushy!"
Silence filled the room. I stared intensely at Mrs. Wilds, waiting to see what she would do next. She had an angry expression on her face, but it wasn't as intense. I had no idea what Mr. Wilds was thinking or what the expression on his face was. If I had to guess, he was trying to make sense of all of this.
"Liar," Mrs. Wilds finally said.
"It's true," Roxanne insisted. "Your son was picking on that boy for no reason and was refusing to give back the plushy."
"He also kicked this little boy in the stomach," Freddy added.
"He even tore the plushy's head off after Mihael told him to give it back," Chica added. "That's why he punched him."
Mrs. Wilds stared at me, her eyes wide with shock. She probably didn't want to believe any of it, but due to everyone adding in what happened, something told me that she wouldn't be able to deny it at all.
I turned my attention to Mr. Wilds, who now held Kenny by the ear. He had the most enraged expression on his face. The thing was, he wasn't aiming it at me; he was aiming at Kenny. There was even a hint of that 'I've had enough of your shit' look in it.
"Kenny Wilds, what do you have to say for yourself?" Mr. Wilds said in a calm, intimidating manner.
"Me?" Kenny scoffed angrily. He pointed at me. "He's the one who you should be asking that. He punched me."
"I don't give a damn if he punched you in the family jewels, face, or what, that doesn't excuse the fact over what you did!" Mr. Wilds roared. Kenny jumped in fright. "I've officially had enough of your shit. I gave you multiple chances to get your act together, but all you've done is do whatever you want, pick on kids, and destroy their property. I'm sending your ass to boot camp."
Kenny's face went completely pale, the light in his eyes dying. My eyes widened at this. This was surprising, to say the least. I knew Kenny was a bad kid, but to the point where he was going to be sent to boot camp, I couldn't help but feel sorry for the kid. But then again, he brought that on himself. I could only hope he gets out of the whole thing alive.
Mr. Wilds began dragging Kenny away, the boy not trying to resist. Mrs. Wilds looked at me, an apologetic expression plastered on her face. I smiled and mouthed 'No hard feelings'. She nodded softly and walked away.
The little boy looked at me, a grateful smile on his face.
"Thanks for sticking up for me, mister," he said. I waved my left hand dismissively.
"It was no trouble," I said. Something clicked in my head. Why was he all by himself? Where were his parents? His siblings? Anyone?
I was about to say something to him when a man walked out of the bathroom. He was a stock-build with little hair on his head and brown eyes. He had tattoos on his arms and had a mustache. He aimed his attention at us before aiming them at the little boy. He walked over to us, the sound of his footsteps catching the boy's attention very quickly. He looked in the man's direction.
"Daddy!" he shouted happily. He ran over to the man and hugged him tightly.
"Sorry I took so long, boyo," he said in a gruffy voice. He looked at me. "Who are you?"
"He's my hero," the boy said. "He stood up for me when a big meanie took my plushy and tore its head off."
He pointed to the remains of his plushy, whose stuffings were now all over the floor. He stared at the remains before looking back at me.
"Is that so?" the man asked.
"Yep," the boy replied. The man grabbed my right hand and shook it gently, a smile plastered on his face.
"I thank you for being there for my little boy," he said, traces of gratitude present in his tone.
"It was nothing," I said, rubbing the back of my head with my left hand. "I did what was right."
"Whether right or not, I'm still thankful," he said. He let go of my hand and picked up the remains of the plushy. He looked at his son. "Let's go, boyo."
The boy nodded. With that, the two of them left and walked out of the lobby. We waited for a moment before I looked at the others. I motioned with my head to let them know it was time to go. They all understood. We walked out of the lobby ourselves in the direction of the Main Lobby.
We got back to the Lobby, the place not as crowded as before. There were still families, just not as many as before. Freddy, Chica, and Roxanne were now walking beside me with Roxanne walking beside me a bit too closely. So much so that our arms were almost touching. I looked around to see some of the kids glaring at me with jealousy in their eyes.
"What's the big deal?!"
"First, Roxy, and now Freddy and Chica!"
"I wish I was him!"
"Hairy gorilla!"
I ignored them. They could say whatever they wanted about me. It didn't matter to me in the slightest.
"Big brother!" I heard a familiar voice call out to me. I looked to see Lisa running over to me. She collided into me and proceeded to give me a big hug. I looked to see my mother and father standing a few feet away, smiles plastered on their faces. "How was it? Did you have fun?"
I looked at Roxanne, Freddy, and Chica, who were looking at me with smiles. I smiled at them for a moment before turning my full attention back to Lisa.
"Yeah, I did," I replied. "We were at Monty's Gator Golf playing a little bit of golf. I got a hole-in-one at the last hole."
Her smile became brighter. "That's great to hear! I knew you would have a great time! It's nice to see you enjoying yourself for once, grumpy pants!"
The smile I had on my face washed away like dried dirt. A deadpan look took its place. Of course, out of all the times to say that, she picked this time to say it. I knew I could be grumpy, but she didn't have to announce that to the rest of Roxanne's friends, who just happened to be watching the whole thing.
"I'm going to pretend you didn't just say that, Lisa," I said plainly. Lisa giggled before she let go of me. I looked over to the others. "It was nice to meet you guys."
"It was nice meeting you too, Mr. Patel," Freddy said.
"When you come back, I will have a slice of pizza ready for you," Chica said. I chuckled at that.
Roxanne didn't say anything. She just stared at me, looking like she was contemplating on something. I wondered what was going on in that head of hers. Finally, she smiled.
"I had a lot of fun, Mihael," Roxanne said.
"I did too," I said, smiling back at her.
"And just between you and me," she said. I arched an eyebrow at her, wondering what it was. Roxanne leaned forward, placing both of her hands gently on her face, her mouth an inch away from my right ear as if she wanted to whisper in my ear. "You're my favorite."
Suddenly, Roxanne did something I wasn't expecting. She stared at me for a moment before she planted her purple lips on my forehead, mimicking the sound of kissing. I tensed up at this, my mind going blank as a result.
"WHAT?!" I heard everyone in the entire Pizzaplex shout in utter surprise. After a moment, Roxanne straightened her posture, a smile on her face.
"See you later, Rockstar," Roxanne said before she walked away, a small skip in her step. Freddy and Chica stood there for a moment, a look of shock on their faces before they went in the direction the wolf mascot went.
I stayed where I was, trying to make sense of what just happened. My mind was going a million miles an hour. I was aware of the heat in my cheeks, despite it all.
'What the hell just happened?' I thought to myself as I felt myself being dragged out of the Pizzaplex, no doubt by my parents.
Author's Note:
After an eternity, Chapter Six is finally here! :D
This was without a doubt the hardest chapter I've ever written. There were a lot of things that were going to be in this chapter, but new ideas came up and they hindered the progress for this chapter. On top of that, I wanted to introduce the rest of the animatronics to Mihael and I wanted to get it right, which was the whole reason this took so long. In fact, I came very close on scrapping the whole idea, but I pushed myself to do it. I'm honestly glad I didn't scrap it. Lastly, I was debating on introducing Kenny Wilds in this chapter. Since he was mentioned in the first chapter, I figured I let him make an appearance and not have one at all. What a big bully he was, huh?
If I have to be honest, I'm really proud with how this turned out. A lot of hard work went into this and I hope I didn't disappoint.
That's all for now. Hope you enjoyed this chapter. Chapter Seven won't take as long since I know how that one will go. Just two more chapters before the big event begins. Constructive criticism is appreciated and I will see you guys next time! :)
