EDIT: Minor Adjustments (Shocking I Know)
*5 Months Earlier*
On a dirty, filthy, city street, neon-lit signs advertised Bars/Pubs, Casinos, brothels, and Assassination Services, and on several street corners were vending machines selling drugs and other "goodies." On many street corners and standing next to dark alleyways were some sultry-dressed figures aimed to help those who want a "fun time." The sky was red with a giant pentagram along with it. And to top it all off there was a larger neon-lit sign in the distance reading: Welcome to Hell!
One of the buildings had a large sign reading "Hazbin Hotel," a place that aimed to redeem the demons of hell, it was a goal many demons didn't think was possible but that didn't stop the owner of the establishment. The most surprising thing about it was who was running this hotel it was the Princess of Hell herself Charlotte Morningstar: the daughter of Lucifer and Lillith Morningstar.
In the hotel, Charlotte, or Charlie (as she would prefer to be called) was currently moving some boxes full of junk to her office to find out what to keep and throw away.
Alastor was probably out drinking demon blood or eating household pets… or both.
Charlie's girlfriend, Vaggie, and Nifty were out getting an order for the hotel.
Husk was passed out behind the bar.
And Angel Dust was out doing… she didn't want to know.
Anyway, the boxes Charlie was carrying were stacked up in her arms her eyes barely able to see above them. Unfortunately, she couldn't see the floor as she passed by a framed picture of Charlie and her parents her foot caught a large wrinkle on the carpet. Her eyes widened as she attempted to regain her footing.
Charlie managed to stabilize herself by pressing the boxes against the wall with a heavy thud, she let out a sigh of relief. The picture rocked slightly, "Oh no!" She cried out as the picture frame fell from the wall onto the floor with a heavy thud cracking the glass in the process.
She set the boxes down and carefully lifted up the frame from the floor, "At least the frame's intact," Charlie said, only for it to come apart in her hands a moment later. She let out a deep sigh as she set the piece to the side and gently removed the larger shards of glass from the frame. Afterward, she very carefully removed the picture from the broken frame. While doing so she noticed a folded section of the picture as if it were done to fit in the frame.
"That's weird. What's this?"
She unfolded the section of the picture and her eyes widened at the sight. Standing off to the side of Charlie and her parents was another male demon. In complete and utter fascination, Charlie stared at the unfamiliar demon in the picture. She then unsheathed a sharp claw and very carefully cut the section of the picture and then very quickly, took the piece to her office and placed it flat on her desk before walking out and locking the door behind her.
She pressed her back flat on the door, 'Who is that demon? A servant? A family friend? Or a sibling?' She shook her head, 'That's absurd! He didn't look anything like mom or dad and besides, if I had a brother, why would they hide him from me?' She let out a deep sigh 'I'll take a better look after.' Charlie grabbed a dustpan and a vacuum cleaner and cleaned up the mess.
After a short while the mess was cleaned up, Charlie entered her office and locked the door behind her. She sat down behind her desk and took a better look at the figure in the picture.
His eyes were completely green and emitted a glow, interestingly his eyes didn't have any pupils. His face had some strange white markings resembling mirrored crescent moons. His hair was pure white and done up in a semi-respectable fashion.
His skin was black like charcoal and rough almost like it was all pure muscle, his clothing didn't completely conceal his very well-built body.
Speaking of clothes he wore a collared dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and had a jacket slung over his shoulder, his other hand resting at his side. On his fingertips were short, yet sharp claws. Around his shoulders was a red cape with a metal skull clasp. His belt buckle was a metallic skull just like his capel, complete with glowing green eyes. Something told Charlie that formal attire wasn't his first choice of clothing.
Lastly, his expression was blank. No smile. No frown. Just indifference.
Charlie leaned back on her chair as many questions began circulating in her head.
Who was he?
What's his name?
What type of demon is he?
Why is he in the picture in the first place?
"I should ask." She reached for the rotary phone on her desk and was about to roll the first number, but abruptly stopped herself if someone caught her with her hand in the cookie jar.
"Why would Mom and Dad keep him a secret?" Charlie said aloud.
It was a good question.
After all, they were the ones who gave her that picture for the Hotel, which means they deliberately folded the picture to fit in a smaller frame to hide it. Very slowly she lowered the phone and sat back in her chair…
*knock knock knock*
Charlie jumped slightly. Quickly she grabbed the picture and folded it before hiding it behind a bookshelf. She then steadied herself before answering the door. The rest of the day proceeded as normal, making sure the hotel was functioning as normal but in the back of her head was the mystery demon and as the day progressed she had more and more questions.
Later that night, Charlie let out a long yawn as she climbed into bed quietly to not wake up her girlfriend who had fallen asleep earlier. She lay on her side and soon afterward fell asleep.
Charlie slammed the door so hard it echoed through the halls. She flopped down on her bed and began crying into her pillow. 'Why can't he understand?' A series of knocks comes from her door.
"Go away!" She yelled through her tears.
"Charlotte, it's me!" A male voice called from the other side, "Please, can I come in?"
A moment of silence passes, "...yes..."
She heard the sound of the door opened and closed, she didn't look up from her pillow. She felt a weight on her bed and a hand began to rub her back. "Look I won't force you to talk about it, take all the time you need. But I just want you to know, I'm here for you."
Charlie slowly sat up and locked eyes with the green glowing eyes of the figure, sitting down on her bed.
"Promise?"
The demon handed her a few tissues and gave her a reassuring smile, "Promise."
After wiping away her tears, Charlie wrapped her arms around him. "Thank you." She buried her face into his shoulder.
They wrapped their arms and cape around her, "Anything for my big sister."
Charlie quickly sat up and noticed she was in her bed. She panted heavily as the events of her dream caught up with her. 'Is it real?' she thought to herself.
A lamp turned on suddenly, and her girlfriend sat up beside her, "Charlie? What's wrong?"
Charlie turned to her with her eyes wide and tears leaking out of her eyes, "I...I..." she stammered.
Vaggie then wrapped her arms around her and pulled her into a gentle embrace. "You don't have to tell me, I'm here."
Charlie didn't respond, her mind instead recalled the words:
"Anything for my big sister."
Night after night she would have different dreams involving the demon from the picture.
They weren't ordinary dreams, they felt more like long-lost memories that suddenly came into view for no real reason. And with every dream Charlie had, the more convinced she was that that demon was a long-lost brother.
She needed to find out what happened to him.
Charlie set up a spare hotel room to conduct her "investigation" where she would document what happened in her dreams and any shred of evidence he found in them.
After five months of work, Today was the day. Charlie walked into the hotel room and locked the door behind her. She looked at the corkboard on the wall where the picture of her brother was pinned next to pictures her contact (who owed her a favor from a while ago now) had found for her on various human social media platforms, and he did look a lot like her brother, only human obviously.
She began to take off her current outfit and changed into a black hoodie, black jeans, gloves, combat boots (For lack of a better description), and a balaclava. She took extra care to tuck all of her hair under her hoodie.
Over the five-month investigation, her contact had a location for him. He was in the human world, living a normal human life. She was surprised, to say the least. On the corkboard was a checklist her eyes glanced over them as she changed.
"Why was he in the human world? Unknown"
"Was he sent there? Unknown"
"Was it his choice? Unknown"
"Did he know he's a royalty? Not Likely"
"Did he even know he's a demon? Definite No"
After putting on her new outfit, she grabbed a small backpack with some lock picks, some water, a few cookies, and a spell scroll with some crystals, candles, and chalk to get back. She didn't know what else to bring, she never broke into a house before. Besides, if someone tried to stop her, she would just use her natural demonic wrath to scare them away!
… hopefully she wouldn't need to…
Charlie began to set up a ritual to create a portal.
Taking a deep breath she pulled the balaclava over her face and stepped into the human realm.
*Present day*
Hayden stared at the figure, it was as if his drawing came to life and was now right in front of him. His eyes began to tear up and the figure began to tear up as well.
The figure… no the demoness slowly approached him her hands raised in surrender. Once she was within arms reach, Hayden wrapped his arms around her and began to cry into her shoulder. The demoness wrapped her arms around him and let her tears flow as well.
Hope you enjoyed it.
Thanks for your patience.
Have a good one.
