A few days after Charlotte and Hayden made their plans and Hayden was already out of patience and was currently trying to find things to do to stay occupied. Charlotte did text him occasionally but it was usually very late and there were only a few texts between the two. Of course, she was attempting to keep their communication a secret. He was sitting on the couch watching a show called Vigil, his friends Jennifer and Jane recommended it to him a while back.

*Ring*

He paused the show and pulled up his phone, hoping it was Charlotte.

"Hello,"

"Hey Haydie!" It was Jennifer.

"Hey there, Char- uh, Jennifer. What do you need?"

"Jane's currently at work and I'm bored out of my goddamn mind. Can you come over and keep me company?"

"Whoa, buddy, didn't you think of me that way…"

"Yeah totally. Are you coming or not?"

"Yeah, I'll be over soon."

"Cool see you."

Hayden hung up, 'At least it's something to do.' Hayden paused his show and got up. He went to his room, grabbed his drawing book and pencils, and placed them in his satchel. He got into his car and went over to her house.

Hayden pulled into the driveway and turned off his car. Grabbing his satchel he stepped out of the car and locked it. He then knocked on the door

"It's open!" came a voice from the inside.

Hayden quickly stepped inside. "Hello there." he greeted, closing the door behind him.

"General Kyle," Jennifer greeted from the couch, "How are you?"

Hayden smiled at her while making his way to the couch, "Yeah, pretty good actually"

"Wow that's weird, you're happy," She said as Hayden sat beside her.

Hayden rolled his eyes and took out a few pencils and a drawing pad. He glanced down at Jennifer's casted leg which was propped up on the coffee table. "How's your leg?"

"Annoying," She rubbed her thigh, "I just want to walk normally again"

"I'm still blown away you managed to make it to Loo Loo Land"

"Yeah, my arms are still sore." She said while stretching, "Worth it though."

"Was pretty sweet wasn't it"

"Mhm," She put her hands on the back of her head and leaned back, "Oh, now that you're here can you get me a glass of water?"

"Dude, I'm here to keep you company not to be your servant."

"Damn saw through my ruse" Hayden then opened up his notepad and began to draw. It was a drawing of Charlotte making pancakes as it was a hell of a coincidence to a game he played called Helltaker.

"Who's Char?"

Hayden immediately tensed up, inadvertently causing his pencil lead to snap. "What?"

Jennifer sat up a little, "When I called you, you said, "Hey there Char."

Hayden set down his pencil and pulled out a sharpener, "Did I?"

"Hayden, come on we both know what you said."

"Uhh... "Char" is a... client of mine," He lied as smoothly as possible "They wanted a logo for her car detailing service." Hayden turned to the TV to see what she was watching in an attempt to change the subject. " Are you watching that?"

"Nah, there's just nothing else to watch" Jennifer replied while tapping at her phone.

"Can I put on Vigil?" he asked putting down his pencil "I'm at the third episode."

"Anything to get you away from drawing," She said sitting up straighter. "Can we start at the first episode?"

"Sure," She said excitedly "There's some chips in the pantry." Hayden got up and grabbed the chips from the pantry. "Oh, while you're there can you get me some water?" Hayden suppressed a groan.

"Okay, mom…" He deadpanned.

"That's my boy"

*A few hours later*

"HAYDEN!" Jane yelled as the front door opened. "Get out of my house!"

"No" Hayden deadpanned.

"Okay," She locked the door behind her, "What are you doing here?"

"Keeping your girlfriend company."

She put her handbag down and turned to Jennifer, kissing her on the lips, "Am I not good enough for you?"

"It gets lonely here," Jennifer pouted with puppy-dog eyes.

"Oh, well forgive me for having to work to support you." Jane turned to Hayden, "How are you doing bro?"

"Yeah, I'm pretty good!" Hayden said while placing this drawing stuff back in his satchel. "And apparently that's very surprising."

"Well, I thought you looked happier than normal," Jane smirked.

"Okay, I'm out."

"Hayden!" Jane whined. "That's not what I meant."

"I know, Jane," Hayden said while ruffling her hair, "I know."

"Get off!" She yelled swiping away his hand. "See you around, Kyle."

"See you later ladies!"

A loud cry echoed through the halls of the mansion. The long-haired succubus held the crying bundle in her arms and gritted her teeth in frustration every single time. Her husband was sitting in the chair beside her, and his fingers clutched the newspaper he was reading tighter every time it happened.

"Have you fed him?"

"Yes, Lucifer."

"Did he finish the bottle?"

Before she could respond, the door burst open, and in ran a young demoness. "Mommy, daddy I'm home!" She jumped into Lucifer's arms, tearing the newspaper in half.

"Good afternoon Darling," He said pulling his daughter into a hug, "How was school?"

"Great! We learned about Humans and why they are the biggest scum of the earth!"

"That's lovely sweetheart" He replied, as she crawled out of his lap and onto the couch.

"Hi, mom! How was your day?"

Lilith put on the best fake smile she could, "Oh, my day was fuc... uh fine," she turned back to the crying bundle in her arms, "This little ... thing has been keeping me busy."

Charlotte held out her arms "Can I hold him?!"

Lilith gladly held out the bundle in her arms and Charlotte held him gently and sat down in the middle of the floor. "Hey, there Spawnie!" Spawn's eyes locked onto Charlotte's and almost immediately, stopped crying. Charlotte pulled out a small handkerchief and gently dabbed his eyes. "Aww, does Spawnie not like the taste of baby formula?"

Seemingly understanding, Spawn rubbed his eyes and shook his head. He looked back up at his sister and reached out to her with grabby hands. "Aww, does Spawnie want a hug?" She pulled him close and Spawn rested his head on her shoulder. "Aww, I love you too, Spawn!"

Lucifer then sat beside his wife and wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "Let's hope he gets used to that formula soon."

"What did you put in it?"

"Extra iron, protein powder, and some human blood from one of my finest sacrifices."

"Is it really necessary at his age, Lucifer?"

"If we wish for an early retirement, yes."

Hayden woke up, this time not with a jolt. He slowly sat up and rubbed his eyes. He turned on the lamp and checked his phone. It read 4:52 AM.

The dreams were becoming more common, not surprising. "No point trying to go back to sleep." He thought aloud as he felt fully rested. Or as rested as he can be at least.

A few moments later, he sat down at the dining table with a cup of black coffee. "Maybe my demonic ancestry means I don't require a lot of sleep?" He thought. Indeed many questions like that began to crop up. He had never been the type to get a lot of sleep and not just because of the nightmares. Generally, he was able to get a few hours of sleep and still feel fully rested. Suddenly his phone rang and very quickly he answered.

"Hello?" he said softly.

"Hayden?"

"Charlotte! Hey, how are you?"

"I'm doing fine thank you," she responded with a chuckle. "Why are you whispering?"

"I don't know, it's a quiet morning it feels right, y'know?"

"Fair enough, did I wake you up?"

"No, I was up beforehand, I had another dream."

"Another nightmare?"

"More like an insight into my past life."

"Ooh, don't tell me," she quickly interrupted, "I want to hear about your dreams in person."

"I cannot wai-" Suddenly there was a chime on Charlotte's end.

"Ooh, just hold on a second." After a moment, she let out a frustrated sigh. "Sorry, Hayden I got to go."

"It's okay I understand." He replied, sharing his sister's tone.

"Okay, talk to you soon! Love you, bro!"

I love you. Those were words Hayden didn't use all that much. He said it a lot to his parents when he was younger and a few times with girlfriends that ultimately didn't lead to anything. "I..." He stammered and slowly steadied himself.

"..."

"I love you too."

Admittedly, this is a fairly boring chapter.

But don't worry the best is yet to come when the two siblings are together again!

Sorry for the wait.

Life can't wait for shit these days...

See you in the next one!
