Chapter 6: Clearwing Soars
Hey everyone I'm back with a new chapter. I'm sorry about the wait, but my only source of finding subbed episodes was gone and took me a while to find a new one. But I haven't abandoned this and finally got back into it. I'm also happy to say this story has over 100 followers and favorites! Thank you all for your support. I hope you like what I have planned. In the underground arena, everyone was eager for Round 2.
"Alright folks, the new guy Roxas has done well making it past Round 1, but if he wants a chance to face off against Gogo he's gonna need to win one more Turbo Duel and there is no way his opponent is gonna make things easy for him." The MC said.
In the pits, Roxas was working on his deck while Jessie was having a look at his runner. Scrolling through them he saw Clearwing Synchro Dragon still in it.
'Hmm haven't used this card yet. I guess with my Samurais and warriors I never really considered it.' Roxas thought.
"So Roxas you ready for Round 2?" Jessie asks checking his runner.
"I think so. I hope I can win." Roxas said.
"Hey can you hand me that wrench?" Jessie calls out.
"Sure." Putting his cards down he grabs it and turns around to see Jessie on her hands and knees right in front of him with her rear right in front of him.
"You mind not staring at my butt for a few seconds?" Jessie teases.
"What? No I-I wasn't." Roxas blushes.
"Just kidding." Jessie teases turning around and taking it. "Lighten up. I'm just having a little fun."
"How does Tifa handle this?" Roxas asks.
"How do I handle what?" Tifa asks walking in.
"Roxas is checking me out. Sorry Tifa but I think he likes me." Jessie teases.
"I swear I'm not doing anything." Roxas said quickly.
"Oh that." Tifa rolls her eyes.
"So Roxas, you got a girlfriend?" Jessie asks.
"No, I'm kinda on my own." Roxas admits.
"You mean until you find your friend again?" Tifa corrects.
"Yeah pretty much. Yusei never really explained what the plan was after he got to Jack." Roxas said.
"You think you might go back to Satellite?" Tifa asks.
"I don't know. I got a few friends there but it's not like I got much here either." Roxas shrugs.
"Well if you uh still need a roof over your head maybe if you're willing to work for me we can…come to some sort of deal." Tifa offers.
"Me too. I think it could be fun having a man around the bar." Jessie smiles.
"You want me to stay with you both?" Roxas asks.
"If you don't have any other plans." Tifa said.
"I'd like that Tifa." Roxas smiles.
Seeing his face Tifa slowly adjusts her hair before turning to Jessie.
"So uh Jessie how's the runner look?" Tifa asks.
"Well, it's Sector Security garbage so you can only get so much. Something is a little up with the engine." Jessie said.
"Enough that I have to forfeit?" Roxas asks.
"I got a feeling even if I said yes that wouldn't change anything." Jessie assumes.
"You'd be correct." Roxas said making her giggle.
"Just when I think I can't like you anymore." Jessie smiles standing up.
"I beat this guy. I can take on Gogo." Roxas said as Tifa handed him his helmet.
"We're rooting for you." Tifa said.
"I'm really glad I met you both. Wish me luck." Roxas put on his helmet and got on his runner
As the two made their way to the stands Jessie smiled.
"Tifa you wanna ask that guy out you might want to move a little faster." Jessie said.
"What? I don't want to ask him out." Tifa blushes.
"Why not? He's tough, a good duelist, and pretty cute." Jessie teases.
"True…so uh say if I was why would I move faster?" Tifa asks.
"Because if you don't. I will." Jessie declares.
On the track, Roxas waited at the starting line as the fans crowded the arena.
"Alright folks, Roxas did a good job making it through Round 1 but if he wants to take on Gogo he's gonna have to play better than he did against Raptor because tonight he's dueling against the sneaky and dangerous Damon!" The MC declares as a Damon raced on a spooky looking runner that looked like something out of your nightmares.
As the crowd went wild Damon pulled up against Roxas.
"If it's consolation. You're more decent than past competitors, but your winning streak ends here." Damon said.
"We'll see." Roxas said.
"Speedworld activated. Autopilot standing by." Around them, speedworld activated.
Leaning against the wall Gogo watched the countdown start.
"DUEL!" Both duelists said as their engines revved and they raced out.
Roxas: 4000 SC: 0
Damon: 4000 SC: 0
"I'll go first." Damon drew. "I summon Fabled Anac in defense mode!"
Appearing on his field was a creepy blue demonic beaver monster.
"Aw that's kinda cute." Jessie said.
"Yeah but it's not really strong." Tifa narrows her eyes.
Fabeled Abnac: 1000/ 600
"And I'll play one card facedown to end my turn."
"My turn." Roxas drew.
Roxas: 4000 SC: 1
Damon: 4000 SC: 1
"I summon Legendary Six Samural Kageki!" Roxas said summoning his 4 armed samurai.
Kageki: 200/ 2000
"And thanks to his ability I can summon another Six Samurai. Like my Six Samurai Kamon!" Jumping out his orange armored Samurai appeared. "And since I have another one. Kagei's attack goes up by 1500."
Kageki: 1700/ 2000
Kamon: 1500/ 1500
"Kamon attack his Abnac!" Roxas said Kamon threw dynamite at his monster destroying it. "Now Kageki attack him directly!"
As Kageki spins his weapons Roxas didn't notice a grin on Damon's face as Kageki slashed him.
Roxas: 4000 SC: 1
Damon: 2300 SC: 0
"Oh yeah! Looks like this guy isn't so tough after all." Jessie said.
"I activate my trap Damage Condenser. By discarding one card from my hand to the grave I can special summon any monster from deck as long as its attack are less or equal to the damage I just took. So say hello to my Fabled Ganashia!" Bursting out of the trap was a scary looking elephant monster.
Fabled Ganashia: 1600/ 1000
"But I'm far from done. Because the monster I discarded was my Fabled Catsith and he's got a very sneaky ability. When I discard him to the graveyard I can destroy one of your monsters. So say goodbye to your Kamon." Damon points.
Appearing out of the shadows, Fabled Catsith slashes Kamon destroying him.
"Oh no. With him gone Kageki's points go back to normal." Tifa gasps.
Kageki: 200/ 2000
"Uh oh you're in trouble now." Damon smirks.
"I play one card facedown and end my turn." Roxas said.
"He can still pull this around. He's got way more lifepoints than him." Jessie said hopeful.
'Not a chance. That's Damon's strategy. By sending his cards to the grave he actually becomes stronger while at the same time shuts his opponents down leaving them without any moves or any tricks left.' Gogo thought.
"My turn." Damon drew.
Roxas: 4000 SC: 2
Damon: 2300 SC: 1
"And I'll start by using my Fabled Abnac's effect from the graveyard. By discarding another card to the grave I bring him back to the field." Damon said as his Abnac appeared on the field.
Fabled Abnac: 1000/ 600
"And guess what? The card I discarded was another Fabled Monster. My Fabled Lurrie in defense mode." Appearing at his side was a small little demon.
Fabled Lurrie: 200/ 400
"And just like that Damon's forces have overwhelmed Roxas's monsters. From the grave they rise to destroy his enemies. That is Damon's Fabled Demons!" The Mc declares.
"And now I tune my level 3 Ganashea, my level 1 Lurrie and my level 2 Abnac in order to Synchro summon Fabled Andwrath!" Appearing on his field was a dark angel monster.
Fabled: Andwrath: 2400/ 2000
"Now this monster has a pretty interesting ability. You can discard a card from your hand and if you do his effect his negated, if not I get to draw 2 more cards." Damon explains.
Looking at his hand, Roxas only had 3 cards.
'If I let him draw more cards, he's probably gonna discard them to trip me up.' Roxas thought.
"Why's Roxas hesitating?" Jessie asks worried.
"He's in a tight spot. He only has half a hand so he can't afford to make any bad calls. Either way, he's in trouble." Tifa cringed.
"I don't negate it." Roxas said as Damon drew his cards.
"Thank you for that because now I summon my Fabled Dyf!" On his side of the field a scaley witch monster appeared.
Fabled Dyf: 1400/ 1700
"Now attack his Kageki!" Damon said as Dyf blasts Kageki destroying him and the resulting shockwave causing his engine to stutter for a few seconds.
Roxas: 2800 SC: 1
Damon: 2300 SC: 1
"Now Andrwaith attack him directly!" Drawing his swords, Andrwraith flew in.
"I activate my facedown card Defense Draw! Not only does it negate your attack but I get to draw a new card." Roxas said stopping the attack.
"Well looks like you have some fight in you." Damon said.
"You bet I do." Roxas growls.
"I'll end my turn with one card facedown." Damon said ending his turn.
"Roxas managed to avoid that onslaught but how long can this guy hold against Damon's dangerous discard monsters?" The MC asks.
Roxas: 2800 SC: 2
Damon: 2300 SC: 2
"Since you have monster and I don't. I can special summon Elder of the Six Samurai!" Roxas said summoning an elderly man in a high-tech carriage.
Elder of the Six Samurai: 400/ 0000
"And now I summon Rose Warrior of Revenge!" Roxas said as his female warrior appeared.
Roxas: 1600/ 300
"And now I tune my level 3 Elder with my level 4 Rose in order to Synchro Summon Lightning Warrior!" Roxas said summoning the monster that won him the last battle.
Lightning Warrior: 2400/ 1200
"Nice try but I activate my trap Phoneix Wing Wind Blast! By discarding one card from my hand I send one card you control back to the top of your deck!" Damon declares.
Turning around Damon aims his runner at him creating a powerful backdraft making Roxas skid backwards and his Lighitng warrior disappeared.
"And just like that Roxas is wide open again. Damon is destroying his monsters! If Roxas doesn't get something on the field he is done for!" The MC said.
"I activate the Speed Spell Summon Speeder! Since I have 2 Speed Counters I can summon Six Secret Six Samurai Fuma in defense mode."
Appearing on the field purple ninja warrior appeared.
Fuma: 200/ 1800
"Go on. Say it. Say those beautiful words." Damon said eagerly waiting for them.
"I end my turn." Roxas said in defeat.
"Oh no! Looks like Roxas is in a corner once again and if I know Damon and I do he's planning on going all out." The MC said.
"You would be correct." Damon drew.
Roxas: 2800 SC: 3
Damon: 2300 SC: 3
"I activate the effect of my Fabled Chawa, by sending one Fabled Mosnter to the grave I can summon him right to the field." Damon said as a demonic little dog appeared.
Fabled Chawa: 200/ 100
"Another Tuner Monster? That means he can synchro again." Jessie panics.
"And it just gets better because I just discarded another Fabled Ganashia." Damn smirks.
"Let me guess you can summon him since you discared him?" Roxas asks getting real sick of that ability."
"Well look at that, you're actually learning. Yes my monster comes back but he comes back with 200 more attack points!" Damon said as Ganshaia appeared with a deadly aura around it.
Fabled Ganashia: 1800
"I tune my level 3 Fabled Dyu with my level 1 Fabled Chawa in order to Synchro Summon Fabled Unicore!" Damon declares as a Unicorn in black armor appeared.
Fabled Unicore: 2300/ 1000
"And thanks to his ability when you and I have the same number of cards in our hands all your card effects are negated." Damon said showing he had no cards while Roxas only had 2 cards.
"Now Unicore destroy his Fuma!" With a glowing horn Unicore charges in and rams into Fuma destroying it.
"When Fuma's destroyed I can summon another Six Samurai from my deck to the field. I summon Six Samurai Zanji in defense mode." Roxas said as his spear wielding samurai appeared to protect him.
Zanji: 1800/ 1200
"Not bad but not good enough! Ganashia crush that Samurai!" Damon yells.
Blowing its horn, Ganashia charges at full speed and rams into Zanji destroying him.
"And now that you're defenseless my Andwraith can attack you directly! Demonic Demon Sword!" As darkness surrounded his sword Andwraith dived down and slashes Roxas making him flinch in pain.
Roxas: 400 SC: 1
Damon: 2300 SC: 3
In response to the fierce attack, something happened to the runner's engine causing it to stall and smoke to start coming out the back.
"Uh oh looks like Roxas is having a little technical difficulty."
"Oh no no no this isn't good." Jessie panics.
"Jessie what's happening to the runner?" Tifa asks.
"That last attack must have been too much. The processing chip is being overloaded and all the excess damage went to the engine." Jessie said.
"So what does that mean for Roxas?" Tifa asks.
"It means if this duel doesn't end real soon it's gonna be real hard to ride a runner with no engine." Jessie declares.
Struggling to keep it together, Roxas was trying to gain control as his runner was trying to keep it up.
"Oh man this is just sad. I've punished you enough for today. I'll end my turn with one card facedown." Damon said ending his turn.
'Little does this rookie realize I've got my Dimensional Prison, so even on the slim chance he summons a powerful monster he'll lose it the second he attacks and then I'll have my Fabled monsters bring his nightmares to life and end this duel.' Damon grins ready to win.
"He's shutting down all my cards. I have no idea how I can win this." Roxas said.
"Just give up. It's not like you were ever gonna win. You got no drive, no goal, no heart." Damon lectures.
Hearing this Roxas couldn't help but hear the truth. He wasn't as inspired to play as Yusei was. Yusei was willing to risk everything for this game.
Flashback:
Back in Satellite, Roxas was doing some practice runs with Yusei before they headed to escape.
Coming to a stop at the same time, Yusei and Roxas took off their helmets.
"How'd I do?" Roxas asks.
"Better. You're a natural Roxas. At this rate we'll make that time easy." Yusei smiles.
"Hey Yusei, I gotta ask you something." Roxas said.
"What's up?" Yusei asks.
"Why are you doing all this?" Roxas asks.
"What do you mean? To get my card back from Jack." Yusei reminds.
"Yeah your Stardust Dragon but it's just one card. We're talking about breaking who knows how many laws to find your old friend in a city neither of us know how to navigate to get one card. It can't be worth all this." Roxas asks.
"It is Roxas. It's worth more than anything in the world." Yusei sighs.
"How?" Roxas asks curious asks.
"That card represents our dream Roxas. For Tank, Blitz, Nervin and Rally that card represented all our hopes and dreams of getting out of here. I need to get it back Roxas. Have you ever wanted a new life for yourself, but no one wanted to let you have it?" Yusei asks.
Pausing Roxas looks to his hands and imagined his keyblades in them.
"Yeah Yusei. I have and I-I still want one. I want my own life." Roxas admits.
Smiling Yusei held out his hand.
"So now you see why I need it. What do you say Roxas? Let's get my card back and get those lives we've always wanted." Yusei offers.
Holding out his hand Roxas shook it.
"And who knows maybe you'll find your own card that you can pin your hopes on." Yusei said.
Flashback End:
'Yusei was willing to risk everything for his Stardust Dragon because it was so much more than a card. It represented everything he held dear and it gave him the drive to do all this. Well it seems I need a card to represent me.' Roxas thought more determined than ever.
Revving the engine flames started to emit from it and Roxas struggled to catch up.
"You know what? You're right Damon. I don't have the drive, but I do now! I'm winning this duel and finding my friends!" Roxas drew.
Roxas: 400 SC: 2
Damon: 2300 SC: 4
"I activate the Speed Spell Angel Baton which lets me draw 2 cards from my deck!" Roxas said drawing his cards. "I might toss one, but the cards I have left more than make up for it."
"I summon Kagemusha of the Six Samurai!" Roxas said summoning his tuner monster.
Kagemusha: 400/ 1800
"And since I have a Six Samurai monster I can summon my Grandmaster of the Six Samurai!" Roxas said summoning his elderly warrior monster.
Grandmaster: 2100/ 800
"I'm betting it all on this one! I tune my level 5 Grandmaster and level 2 Kagemusha! I'm betting it all on this card! A beast that refuses to be beaten down by anyone!" Roxas roars as a power energy radiated from him. "To Yusei and all my friends in Satellite this is for you! I synchro summon Clear Wing Synchro Dragon!"
Bursting out a large white, black and blue dragon with glowing green wings appeared and let out a fierce roar.
Clearwing Synchro Dragon: 2500/ 2000
"What is this?!" Damon gasps as a glowing red mark appeared on Roxas' arm resembling the body of a dragon.
Across the city, Goodwin felt a powerful surge in energy.
"What is this?" Goodwin looks down and he sees the body mark just like the one on Roxas' back appear.
"The Soul of the Dragon." Goodwin gasps.
At the arena smoke and flames was erupting out of the thrusters from his runner but Roxas wasn't fazed.
"And now I activate my Speed Spell Mystical Space Typhoon. When I have 2 or more Speed Counters I can remove them to destroy your facedown card!" Roxas said as his speed counter meter went down to zero.
"Looks like you forgot about my Unicore's power! Since your hand is the same as mine it's negated!" Damon said showing they both had no cards left.
"I don't think so! My Clearwing has his own ability! Whenever a monster on your side of the field activates its effect, he can destroy it on the spot!" Roxas yells.
"What?! Then that means!" Damon gasps.
"Your Unicore is done for!" Roxas yells as Clearwing swings his claw and slashes Fabled Unicore destroying. "And you wanna know the best part? When my Clearwing destroys a monster with this effect, he gains attack points equal to the monster he just destroyed. So that's 2300 points right there! More than enough to wipe you out!"
Clearwing Synchro Dragon: 4800
"And since your card's effect was negated my spell kicks in allowing me to destroy your facedown!" Roxas said as a powerful storm flew in and destroys Damon's trap card.
"I-I can't stop this one." Damon said in horror.
As he turned around all the smoke and flames erupting from Roxas's runner combined with his dragon and determination made him shudder in fear.
"Wh-What's happening to me?" Damon asks.
"Looks like you've been shutdown Damon." Gogo said impressed.
"Clearwing destroy his monsters and the rest of his lifepoints! Sky Strike!" Roxas roars.
Roaring Clearwing glowed bright green and flew down destroying Damon's entire field creating a powerful explosion.
Roxas: 400
Damon: 0000
As smoke escaped Damon's runner the crowd went nuts.
"He's done it! Roxas has defeated Damon! He's going on to challenge Gogo!" The MC screams.
"He did it!" Tifa cheers as she and Jessie hug.
As the mark on his back disappeared Roxas looks to see Clearwing flying over him.
Seeing the powerful dragon fly alongside him, Roxas finally understood why Yusei wanted Stardust so badly.
This feeling, it was like nothing else mattered and he could do anything he set his mind to.
"You and I make a good team." Roxas smiles.
"Well I'll be. Looks like I got some competition after all." Gogo smiles.
However that moment was short lived when Roxas' engine exploded from too strain.
Panicking Roxas tried to get it under control but when he swerved he fell off his runner and tumbled to the ground as it exploded nearby.
"Roxas!" Tifa and Jessie scream in horror.
"Oh no! Roxas is down! Someone get a stretcher!" The MC said.
Groaning Roxas looks up to see flames around his runner before he passed out.
Running over Tifa ran to Roxas while Jessie grabbed his disk and deck.
"Roxas hang in there. You're gonna be okay. You hear me. You're gonna be fine." Roxas said as a stretcher came in and he was put on it.
"Folks this is one of the uglier underground duels. If Roxas can recover and maybe get his runner fixed he'll be able to challenge Gogo. But that's a big if right now." The MC said.
As Roxas was wheeled away with Tifa and Jessie looking at him in worry.
"This stuff happens Roxas." Gogo sighs walking out. "Hey see if you can salvage that runner." She orders as some of her grunts ran out.
In Neo Domino City, Zigzix was going nuts looking at hic machines.
"Amazing! This D-Energy reading is off the charts!" Zigzix said looking at the readings.
As he ran around he didn't notice the door opening behind him.
"I need to tell Director Goodwin about this immediately!" He panics.
"I already know." Goodwin said startling him.
"D-Director Goodwin?!" Zigzix said surprised. "T-The energy."
"I know. I felt it to. There's another signer in the city, a powerful one." Goodwin said.
"It came from the same area, the Underground Duel circuit." Zigzix explains.
"Send Sector Security to search the area. I want you to find me that duelist." Goodwin orders.
"And then what sir?" Zigzix asks.
"Why give them an invite of course." Goodwin hints.
