Hello AND HAPPY NEW YEAR, GUYS!
i actually wanted to release this right before next year came, but i somehow ended up taking around 8hrs to complete this chapter...but yknow Better Late Than Never...Even if Marginally Late. Anyways i wish i ended off 2020 with the line-up of the chapters for stories i posted already finished, but i guess that just goes to show you just how shit last year was. It's been an incredible struggle to even finish a story, but as long as i have readers reading whatever i put out (and my labido is as large as ever), we can make this the year where we start finishing some stories!
There may be alot of dialogue in this chapter but i promise you, there's memorable stuff happening here, with a few fights and a big threat to boot! i was reeeeeaaaaally tempted to throw in a sex scene at the end (that didnt include La Brava), but to not complicate things there, i made it a pretty important moment for Bravy. i've been thinking about introducing more Heroes, which may happen in the next chapter. There's a bit of a cliffhanger at the end, but anything can happen there. i gave this story a chapter anyway since it's done pretty well on here. i'll be lucky if i get this pass Chapter 5, and if that happens, Chapter 7 AT THE MAX. Bad enough that these can take me up to a month to even put out. What's funny is that this looks like it'll be longer than the Etna fic unless i come up with a string of great ideas. i've been having ideas to advance Brava's Quirk, and i hope anyone reading enjoys what im doing with that, or whatever i end up doing with her (eue), that is. Oh and thanks so much for exceeding over 100 views in one day! Seems folks really miss this one, so it kinda makes me glad i continued it ^^. Last note, i may or may not doing a commorative drawing for the team in my Renamon fanfic, since i really like the group that was formed from it, so watch for that in it's next chapter...And i guess one last last note, been thinking about making a Discord for my page. Dont know when, but probably when i move out or after the drawing's done, whatever comes first. I would say one other thing here, but look at my Conversations page for it. NOW, after all that's said and done, after reading all this text, read all that other text down below.
Chapter 2: Honorable Villain, Raikimitsu. Midnight's "Test" ! —
Waking up, I was hearing clicks and typings across from me. My eyes were seeing through the blurs as I pressed the bed to sit up. "*keeps typing* (Im onto something..I have to be!) SearchSearchSearchSearchSearchSear- " Manami was repeating under her breath, "*puts a hand on her head, and she stops. crouches down* Hey, dont you think you're going overboard? How long've been doing this?" I asked in worry, "! Foooor uuuh oo...A few..More hours please?" she asked, not sure if she should really tell, "Well no, not when you've been at it for too long. If you aren't getting anywhere, it's ok, alright?" I told her, "...Im sorry..I just.." she lowly replied, "Dont worry about it. This should give us time to go out or work on our Quirks ^^" I was telling her happily, "*hears my stomach growl, giggles* Was that you? I'll make us something before we do any of that" Manami told me, cutely hopping off of her chair and walks over to the stove. She took a stool with her and puts it in front of said stove. Never think such a shortcake like her would cook for us. In her own house with me, even. Jiki was seen walking around with a very stern look on his face when time struck 4:46pm, by a girl in school uniform behind the window of a restaurant, twirling her water bottle with her finger on the table. "So that Mortal Phoenix guy's name is Jiki Sonzaki?" she asked, "Do you think you can handle him, Mikura?" said the bottle, "I think with you and the other boy's help...We should be able to take him..And that other guy down. You said you fought against him before, right?" Mikura asked, "Yes. I was in a near-death state for an hour cuz of him...If I were put into another state of matter, maybe that'd do me in" the colleague replied, "...Sao, dont tell him this, but I need you to control his body. Raikimitsu shouldn't be able to activate his Quirk" she suggested, "Merkuri, even if I use a piece of myself for that, I've never taken control of him, and he could be a Passive user" she told her, "*looks around lowly, seeing a waiter turn a corner* Look, just dont mess with my brain too much, Umi. You better come right out when Im in the restroom" she whispered, "You dont need to-!" Umi said, but was getting ingested from the bottle.
"[Waiter] *walks up, hears her coughing* Are you alright, ma'am?"
"[Mikura] Yes yes, Im ready to order ^^;" she was telling him, "*sees me and Manami walking by, looks away* (T-they're not coming here, are they? It's too soon to confront them, not when I haven't gotten to Rai-) *sees the two of us step in* (ThEY ACTUALLY STEPPED IN! Q oQ)" "Geez, this place is packed. Hey, can we get a waiter?"
"[Waiter] Sorry ma'am, wait here. *turns to me* I'll be with you, sir"
"[Yusao] (Got a Plan B?)"
"[Mikura] (N-no...I mean Shut up! )"
"[Yusao] (They dont pay either of us enough for this...~ ~)"
"[Mikura] (It'll work out, you'll see, ok?!)"
"[Waiter] *brings me and Manami up to Mikura's table* Do you mind sitting here? The rest are reserved.""Nah, we'll be fine here."
"[Mikura] (Im soooo not gonna tip him now!)"
"[Manami] M-mind if we sit with you?"
"[Mikura] (Maybe...Just maybe I can get more info out of these two this way. It's not like Yusao knows what the girl can do.)"
"[Yusao] (Im still here yknow. -.-)"
"[Mikura] N-no problem, go ahead. :D"
"Alright, cool."
"[Mikura] *sees me and her sit, then looks to the waiter* (Wow she's a bit on the heavy side) I'll have a Sushi Special please."
"I'll get the Jumbo Calamari meal, side of eggrolls."
"[Manami] You've eaten here before? Well you sure got hungry quick after training."
"[Mikura] *sees her look through the menu* (So he already was training hard huh...)"
"Heheh. If I use it alot like that, my Quirk can make real hungry like that."
"[Waiter] *jots down* And for you, lil lady?"
"[Manami] Umm..Just a Miso Beef Bowl for me is fine."
"[Waiter] *jots it down too* Oook then, wait there for 25 minutes."
"*sees him walk away* Im guessing you go to one of those Hero Schools?"
"[Mikura] (Dammit what's a Hero School name? Like...Liiike) Oh, well Im a UA student. I live on my own though."
"*pets Manami's head and she makes relaxed smile* I've met shortcake here online, and we're pretty close after...What, about a week?"
"[Manami] A week? I forget how much time passed for us. ^^"
"[Mikura] That's kinda fast, but as long as you two're ok with that. If it's not too much to ask, what're your Quirks?"
"Hmm, mind giving your's first?"
"[Mikura] (Drrrrgh not bad..) I call mine Mercury, *strikes a neko pose* and since my name's Mikura, my Hero name will be Merku! Im still trying to get my license, but I think I'll be able to soar in rankings in no time!"
"(I...Dont know where the pose came from, but ok o⊿ o;) That is a pretty recognizable name. Hope your Quirk can back it up."
"[Mikura] Oh it will! I can control, and spew out Mercury from my hair. I can also make it combustible, so if I can get it on a Villain's gun, they better not use it from there!"
"Well...It's a very dangerous thing in the first place, so I dont think you gotta go that far. Just dont get it in our food if anything ʘ̆uʘ̆;"
"[Mikura] (Dont tempt me - -...Please go to the restroom -u-)"
"*looks at her gray hair* (She must have alot as it is. Best not to leave for the rest room.)"
"[Yusao] (You cant expect them to just use it soon. Come now, we had you join last week.)"
"[Mikura] (Hush or else Imma go to the restroom on you!)" she shouted in her head, and the three of us bickered and talked with each other til we felt the need to go on our phones. We soon started eating once the food got to us, and we went back to conversing.
"Eh Merku. Do you know a guy named Genius or anyone close to him?"
"[Mikura] ! (How would he even know about him?!) You mean the guy that got really demoted? I dunno about anyone under him. *goes back to eating*
"Apparently there've been rumors here and there about him being involved in criminal acts recently."
"[Mikura] *swallows* Pffft, no way any of it can be right."
"Well we've been trying to track down whoever's been behind taking some Villains out."
"[Mikura] Good luck with that."
"*shows a ziplock bag of a pen covered in gray liquids* Yeah, cuz this is our clue. We found it on the way here."
"[Mikura] (! I...It must've fell through my pocket!)"
"[Manami] The News and people online say things about Vigilantes and of them being behind it all, but the suspects were still these three Heroes."
"[Mikura] (...Dodging questions will get baited in no time at this rate..) Yeah..Like when they said Goth Vespa escaped from being cut down by one of you. They said they're tracking her down now."
"They did?! Have you heard of that, Manami?"
"[Manami] Huh...They said one went missing from the scene from what I've gathered. They sounded unsure, but that's probably since she's now so low ranked. Outlets usually dont list revoked Heroes like her."
"[Mikura] Someone told me about this other revoked Hero, Snake-eyed Mask, and how he's been attacking around the far East area away from UA. I live five minutes away from that, so who knows how much more damage he'll cause from there."
"*sighs* We'll have to check it out in two more days. I still need to work on my Quirk some more. *eats some more*"
"[Manami] *looks at Mikura's bottle* (Something's off about that bottle...) *remembers being attacked Yusao* (!O O Uh oh...S-she...There could be an outbreak if I tell him here..I hope Im just overthinking.)"
"*finishes eating with Manami* Aaaaah~, that sure was good. *sees the waiter put the tab on the table* 12590¥? I went a bit overboard but I got it. *puts down 14050¥* Well it's been nice talkin', Merky-ku. We seem to've gotten some sort of lead."
"[Mikura] Nice meeting you too ^^. *sees the two of us leave* (OOO I Cant WAIT to take down those chumps when they get up there!)"
"[Yusao] (Now now, let's get to Watatoshi to start up our plan.)"
"[Mikura] (Im going Im going! _V_#)" she told her, and before exciting a minute later. On the way to meet him, Mikura took note of how I detailed my Quirk, along with how Manami's was explained, manically chuckling to herself. She didn't, however, look forward to actually confronting Watatoshi. Not due to how strong he was, but due to a personal matter.
The two of us were taking it easy at the park, sitting at a bench. "*pets her long hair* I like it in your Villain do a bit more, but it still looks really good when it's down" I compliment, "T-thank you../w/" Manami responds, "...A few weeks ago...I quit my job. *looks up at me* I saved up quite a bit at the cubical too..But eventually..I just wanted to live life more freely. It put me in a very bad space, especially when I was thinking about ways to improve my Quirk" I explained, "Oh..I-it really didn't sound right for you" she lowly comment, "...I tried using it..On someone. *hears her gasp* Thankfully, nothing happened, but I quit in case things got worse..Before I could possibly get fired. Bad enough that doing things like that is illegal...Think I should be an A/C for someone? *hears her giggle*...Yknow what, I haven't tried that. Cmon, let's try a house or two" I then told her, and she got up with me. Jokes aside, I really should think..What could I do on the side..
In a rundown, abandoned facility, a sword-wielder was cutting down the support beams and dodging them as they fell. "*walks in, sees a beam fling off of him from a zip around his body, shifts to the left* Someone's in the middle of a warm-up" Mikura said, "*doesnt turn, aims sword at her* Leave. You're interrupting me, and my session" he told her, "I'd turn if I were you" she told him back, "*turns to her, seeing a water bottle. gives furious look* (She isn't going to..) Alpha. He told me about needing my blade. You dare to get in the way of our boss' plan?" Watatoshi was saying, squaring into a samurai stance, warning her as his long hair flew in the wind, "Just a small detour. I know we both want the money, but either you do things my way..*takes out a wired Mercury gun* Or the hard way. *hears him grunt* Can you drop the Bushido act for once? Tell me..What righteous Samurai do you know that's greedy?" she prefaced, "Silence, you damn cur! *runs in, sparks flying from the sword's tip as it drags on the ground* Dragon's Storm!" Watatoshi shouts, sending a bolt of electricity out of his sword with a slash, and she dodges by rolling. "*rolls backwards, shooting him with mercury shots, which he slashes at. notices a toe sticking out of shoe* (! Drrrgh, he's as good as ever with that damn sword..He shouldn't get through this!) *sprays the floor with mercury from the gun, and makes them boil, releasing toxic fumes faster* You shouldn't last long now" Mikura said with a cheeky smile, "*gets a foot covered in hot mercury* But you underestimate. *leaps into the air* (Errrgh! Focus Raikimitsu!) *flips and raises sword* Diving Falcon!" shouted Watatoshi, "(If I use my hair, he'll just cut right through it..I have to use all of it!) *shoots him with several pints worth of liquid mercury, painting him as he leads with sword in front of him while dropping* (How hard-headed can he be?! I'll have to time this..!)" she was saying in her head, whipping her now soaked hair to wave in front of her. Despite the whipping indeed landing in Watatoshi's face, his attack resulted in the ground exploding in front of her upon landing as he charged his body in electricity, sending her flying out of the establishment. Upon getting up, Merku saw the mercury-drenched Raikimitsu standing there with his face dripping in her substances, then he zipped left and right out of her field of vision with streaks of lightning, "! (Wh-where'd he go?!)" she reacts, "*spins sword in one hand* Storming...! *cuts her across her body a few times, whirling her into the air, finishing with a dashing, raising cut* Typhoon!" he howls, "AAAAAGGHHH! *lands on arm and on the gun hard* GHNNN! *coughs, starts bleeding and really feels weak-kneed* (Dammit!...I..I cant hope to beat him..Not when he's this strong..) *walks away, trips and falls with a grunt. turns back, seeing him stand there with both hands in his big sleeves* (He's letting me off...Good eu-)" she then thought, "*sees her struggle to walk off, silently catches breath* Why she'd challenge me so soon is quite beyond me..Either way, it is vexing..Especially after that fateful day...Master Talon..He may have the answer" Watatoshi spoke alone, taking a seat in the grassy field to save his strength and recoup. "(Yes, in and out. In and out. Keep that air flowing, but little do you know, getting under your skin was quite easy.) *looks at the cut up bottle with his eyes as he picks it up* (Especially after that last wild attack of your's. All I need is a bit of shut-eye from you, my naive Samurai)" Yusao was discretely saying, with him only hearing very few murmurs from her.
Bravy was next to me as I had a hand on an emptied, mossy building. "(Nothing eh? I wonder...) *puts both hands on it, and soon fires started appearing on both sides of the house* Hey it's kinda working" I comment, "! *jumps back* H-hey! Put it out before it burns us!" Bravy frantically said, "Im trying...! *sees the fires continue* (Shit, how am I gonna put it out now?) *feels a breeze pass by* (If only it could be enough to help...Or maybe!) *waves my hands at the house in big motions and the air starts to have icy particles, moistening the air near me as it collides with the heat, lowering the fire and makes the exterior moisten as well* I see. So it must be melting the cold air around it" I surmise, "*sees steam and the wall of the house darkens* Good thinking! It's getting more damp, so the fire won't be able to burn for long! Just wave faster and I'll help! *waves arms with me circularly and the flames shrink into small, barely visible embers, which the wind took care of from there* Yay a new technique for your Quirk!...That's..Good.." she said at a lower tone, "Hmm? What's wrong, MNM?" I asked, "Nothing just..What'd you- W-well anyways...My Quirk hasn't gotten anywhere for a while..It makes me think it's yknow..useless.." she was lowly saying, "(Hmm..If her Quirk is Love...She's told me before how it always runs out after one use...Maybe..Just maybe..) Have you ever..Started loving yourself?" I asked, "!...I..Umm..Well..N-not.../~/" she was hesitantly responding, looking flustered, "*puts hands on her shoulders* Listen, I know it's really hard now that he's been away from you and all, but you gotta see your own self-worth. You aren't useless. You helped me beat that tough guy yesterday. I dont think I'd be able to take him out if you didn't pitch in. *sees her blush get brighter* You have worth, Bravy. Believe in it, k? ^ ^" I was telling her and she was nodding. However I wish I could've timed the pep talk better, since the sun was setting, signaling that we need to get back to our homes. "Do you still live with your parents?" she asked, "Make that parent. Mom and I have been trying to look for another job for me" I answer, "Then...I'll look for you too. Everyone needs help these days, yknow ^ ^" Bravy told me, "(Especially those who aren't gonna be Heroes..And who quit..) Really appreciate it, Bravami :) We'll see about tomorrow" I farewell before walking back home, and she giggled at the other nickname I gave her.
I do feel like I more feelings for her than she does for me. Living together's starting to not seem like a bad idea, but one thing at a time. Job first, then I need to be sure she's really ok with...Well actually are we in a relationship? It still feels "Friends with Benefits"-ie. Maybe I should give it another week or so, we'll see. Minutes pass and I was now a few more miles from home. Before I could complain, I saw a familiar metro bus, and took it. I gave the driver the change, then searched for a seat to take. Right when I took a seat, I spotted a familiar face further up, who had cuts on her body and clothes. "! (Merku? What the hell happened to her?) *looks around for a moment, walks towards the back, sits next to her* Hey, is this a new look you're trying?" I quietly asked, "Real funny - -. (This could be really good for me. It'd get some attention off of me too -w-)I ran into this one Villain named Raikimitsu on the way home. Be really careful if you ever see him..Or you can end up like me, or worse" she was telling me, "I think I've heard of a Samurai Pro or two, but Villain Samurai? What's his Quirk like?" I asked, "I-Im not sure, but it has alot to do with electricity. M-maybe he can generate it from his swords, I dunno but he can cover himself in static charges while attacking..It's really scary and strong to go up against /n\" Merku was stressing to me, "Damn..Well if you're gonna be a Hero, you'll really have to think on your feet to beat someone like that" I comment, "(Dont remind me -V-#) I'll really need to rest when I get home..So I was wondering, what's the thing between you two?" she asked. Oh boy, wait til she hears all this. I sat there explaining to her our whole situation for a few minutes, with the bus making a handful of stops before my place came up. "Then I quit and Im at where I am now in life. Oh and her old boyfriend's name is- *sees my neighborhood come up* Oh this is my stop. Sorry, I'll have to tell you some other time, Merku" I quickly told her and walked off before she could stop me. She wasn't too mad about not knowing, but something stirred in her, making her frown the rest of the way to her stop.
"Later guys. I'll be fine on the way home" a student farewelled to her friends after they hung out at a park. It was 2:30am at the time. The streets were darkening, and the lights flickered the whole time. Suddenly the street lights shut off completely, making her gasp, and she felt herself get yanked. By the time the lights came back on, she was face-to-face with another girl who had a gray mask, with a pen sticking into her throat. "Shhhh, it's already over" her assailant coldly says, putting her down as she chokes with pounds of lead being pumped into her windpipe, and once the lights blinked a few more time, the masked criminal escapes with the victim's wallet in-hand. "*looks above, seeing no Hero in sight* Good, coast is clea-" she was saying to herself, "Quite the scene you left there" said a deep voice, "! (Someone saw me?!) *looks back, the lights come back on, sees a man in black and shaggy hair* (Dammit, not Eraser Head! oVo)" she cursed in her head, "*points at her wallet* Put it down and maybe I'll let you go. Dont try anything funny" Eraser Head warned, "(I never fought him be...fore...I...Hmmm!?) *falls, has a hard time sitting up* (My body..My eyes..I feel...heav..y..)" she was thinking, "Tsk tsk. Did a little girl forget it's too late to go outside?" said a arousing voice, "*looks behind, feeling the embrace of a woman* M-midnight?!" she reacts, "We chose quite a time to do a stakeout. Take away her toys, Midnight. *sees her pick 9 black pens out of her pockets and a Mercury gun out of her coat* You're real dangerous, huh? Lay her down, I'll attend to the victim here" Aizawa told her. "*sees him pick the pen out of her neck* (I'll...Be taken in...Not..Now!) *raises mask slightly, tilts head to the air* Ugghhll...!" she upchucks, spewing a load of gray fluids out of her mouth into the air, "! *jumps away* Eraser! Quick, over here!" she urged him, making him bat his head to her. Simultaneously, Aizawa slings his cloth and Midnight lashes her whip to wrap their weapons around the naughty girl, however Aizawa's started to tear in no time, with Midnight's giving at any moment. "*sees rusts and stains forming on the weapons* (This is some sort of special mercury! Damn if only I released more fumes)" Midnight mentally said. As Mikura was trying to reach for the gun, the Heroes felt two dices bounce off of their heads, immobilizing them, "*feels the weapons loosen* (They're..Wait!) *falls to the ground, seeing dices bounce off of the cloth and whip* (Snake-eyed Mask! He's here somewhere.) *slips out of weapons' grasps, grabs guns, runs away* (Now I can get out of here!)" she told herself, trembling a few times and running into the shadows. "*shudders to knees* Whatever hit me..It wasn't much, but I couldn't move...*looks down, sees a dice* A dice...? Hmm. Im reporting back, Kayama. Take care of the girl" Eraser Head told her, and she complied. After hearing some pulses, Nemuri takes the unconscious to an ER.
The next day came by and I wake up, looking forward to meeting Manami somewhere. I was texting her while making breakfast for me and mom. "I sure have some news for you this time. There's a few jobs I've found, some nice orders I got for us, and an incident happened last night!" the latest text from her read. Wow, looks like I missed just about everything when I was snoozing. "Is that the girlfriend you told me about?" mom was asking, "W-well she's not my girlfriend, but yknow...Let's say we're going places. She's been really helpful lately" I answered and she giggled. "Oh yeah, I dont think you ever told me about your dad. Do you mind telling me about him?" she asked in another text, "...I'll tell you when we meet up today. Let's meet at U.A. entrance then go near one of Hazama's hideouts" I text back, "Oh..ok" she followed up.
I shortly arrive at U.A, and I sat there waiting for her on a bench that was close to the place. My ears catch a monitor saying something about finding some dice on the ground, and something else. Also mentioned about two Pros getting involved and how it became a 2-on-1 fight. Next thing they're gonna say Hazama all three on his own. Actually there was a thing saying he fought off five Villains and a Pro yesterday. He should be really tired today.
"*turns to me* Oh there you are!"
"Hey Bravy. Glad you got here without any Villains attacking this time. ^ ^"
"I guess after that stunt Hazama pulled yesterday, some Villains are laying off today."
"(Wow, she even heard about that.) Say, that could be the same for that Snake-eyes guy. Though I just heard that something went down last night."
"Yeah, Midnight and Eraser Head had a run-in with someone who could corrode their weapons. A girl got hunted down and pickpocketed by her, but she ended up escaping. How crazy is that!?"
"Those two should be able to take one person down with no problem. Sounds like a pretty slight mistake costed them."
"Or! She could've gotten outside help, hence the dices in the report."
"And yknow what, we can stop whatever Snake-eyes is doing tomorrow by reporting him to a Pro. School's right here anyway."
"Good idea!"
"Oh and yesterday, I met Mikura on the ride home, and she had some nasty cuts on her."
"R-really? From who?"
"From this Villain called Raikimitsu. He's some sort of electric Samurai or something. She had this run-in with him. Did you check into a Villain database?"
"I did last night, but he must be a new Villain cuz I dont think I've heard of that name before."
"Huh..."
"I tried emitting my Quirk on myself last night and couldnt get anywhere. *looks around, leans into me* Hopefully I can with these Enhancer gloves I bought off of this underground site. I paid extra for shipping to be here in two days, but dont tell anyone!"
"Where do you get the money from?"
"Dont worry about it! ｡ﾟ( )ﾟ｡"
"Ok ok just know what you're doing."
"So...You were gonna tell me about your dad, right?"
"I'll...Tell you when I come back from reporting."
"Alright. Go ahead" Manami complied, seeing go into U.A. She kicked her cute little feet in the seat, looking alot more things up. A frown came to her face when she forgot to tell me about the jobs she found for me. Looking up more jobs for a few more minutes, she saw the skies turn a violent blue, and hopped out of her seat to look around. "Hmmhmhmm, all according to plan" said from our main villain of the story from a rooftop, with a smile unbeknownst to everyone. Once the little girl stepped into the street, Manami turned her head, seeing a huge mass of electricity emitting from a man, walking forward and destroying buildings in his path. "O.O;;; *dials my number, hearing it ring* ( .UP.) *hears the phone get staticky and unresponsive* (I GOTTA HURRY! ⓪0⓪;)" she urged herself, sprinting inside the U.A. building. She was running down the halls wildly, screaming for my name and catching the attention of all the students. "Yes, Midnight. His name's Snake-eyed Mask. You guys must've not known he was there and- *hears La Brava hollering in the halls* Wait there. Is that her?" I asked myself, opening the door, "*stops in front of the door* GiantThunder!City'sUnderAttack!MyPhone!The- *takes deep breath* THERE'S A GUY WITH TONS OF ELECTRICITY HEADING THIS WAY! O" she shouted frantically, "! *turns around* A Villain's attacking!" I told her, "*gets a phone* Villain Attack, Everyone! Move out!" Midnight told everyone on the intercom, and rushed out of the room, followed by a handful of other Heroes. Me and La Brava rushed outside with them, then they stopped from seeing the size of how much power the dangerous opposition was outputting. "*flies to the scene* (Who the hell could this be from?!) *takes a closer look at him* (Oh him...Umi must've took control of him!
