Chapter 3: The Right Night, The Cold Day

Me and this guy were at the kitchen table, staring at each other and he had a smirk on his face. I look at Bravy and she's still asleep in a chair. So far, I hate everything about this guy.. "I wouldn't be smiling...Especially with the sort of Quirk I have.." I warned him, "Go ahead. Whatever happens to me..It'll get reported and the boss is that much closer to knowing how exactly you tick" he told me, "Drrrgh...Who are you?..What're you doin' here?" I asked, "As you guessed, my man..Im a Villain. 'Safari Shooter' is what they call me. *sees me get up* Hey now, I cant turn anyone into guns. In fact, I dont even have one now. *sees me sit back down* It's only a name to scare folks, y'see. It's a bit of a secret but Im just for hire. But call me Jack The Jacker. *sees me look more skeptic* From here, Imma let you figure out the rest, kid" he told me, "(Dammit...He wants me to do something to figure me out for his boss..What'd be the best move...? I need someone's help for this. Given what I've seen, it's hard to expose him for his Quirk) Hmm..Mind if I call someone over?" I asked, "! (He's really thinkin' now) Like who exactly?" he asked back, "Well..Do you know anyone by the name Hazama? *sees him give a scowling look* Think Im bluffing? Then I got another friend I can call here too, but he'll believe whatever I say in a heartbeat eue" I told him, "(Drat! He aint bad at this himself! He has to be bluffing...But the chances that he's bluffing twice in a row...That's looking real steep to me..)" Jack was thinking to himself, trying to weigh his options. He started realizing that he's in a similar position as me, especially now; If he acts violently, cover is blown. I was giving him a smile back as he was finalizing his decision. "(I could call up the boss and have him come here, but-) *sees me tapping something on me phone with a hand behind my back* What're you doin' there? Calling up a buddy?" he asked, "Nah...*puts the phone on the table* Just recording us. I'd pick your words carefully from here. Now what were you gonna say? Something about your boss? -w-" I replied, "(He's recording?! What a sneak this kid is...!) *gets up, points at me* You win, BOY. You best watch your back from here, got it?" he told me before walking away and I waved him goodbye. Bet he really felt that burn, and thought he was quite ahead too. Good thing I got him to hesitate to think of that lil' plan there.
"*wakes up* What...Happened...?"
"How timely. You missed how I outsmarted this Villain guy that mom dragged in. He turned you into a knife. Im guessing he could use your Quirk from there."
"*GASP* W-what he was trying to do really?!"
"Seems he was trying to make me get violent so his boss could go off of reports of what'd happen to him."
"That's just dirty! Well he showed his hand by using his Quirk first!"
"Yeah, I guess just to scare me. But little did he know that I bluffed twice by mentioning I had Hazama's and this other friend of mine's number!"
"He sounded decently smart so Im sure he felt that bluff."
"And you'd be right. But the kicker is my phone's recorder...I didnt even have it on. owo"
"Hahaha! He must've really cracked from that! x)"
"You were bound to wake up anyway. So I was quickly cornering him UuU"
"Ya sure are good at thinking fast, huh? That was good! ^u^"
"Yep! Now that business is settled, let's go on to Hazama's hideout."
"Right! Let's go!" La Brava said enthusiastically before we rushed out of the door. Im starting to be really fond of being with her, more than ever. It's no wonder Gentle really liked being around her and from the videos of him we saw, he looks pretty charismatic...I know I cant replace him but..I'll have to see how it all plays out for us. Nonetheless, I really appreciate how handy she often is and her attitude to alot of things. Makes me feel like we can do anything together. Im also really concerned about the thing with that guy...He was just a hired man that Jock picked up. I dont want anymore of those, so if I can talk to a Pro or even just discuss how Hazama could pitch in to stop that, that'd be pretty ideal.
On the way there, we heard news saying how they took Raikimitsu in, arrested. He says he couldn't control himself and said his body was taken over, but the police found it to be unbelievable, so he's currently trying to prove his innocence. Heroes were able to arrest over a dozen released Villain within the last two hours all over the city, with way more still out there. We haven't been attacked thus far, so I have a feeling they're just hidden in different areas. I can only hope they changed their ways but knowing them, most probably didnt. Could be a game-changer, but Im most concerned about Genius Jock. We dont even know what his Quirk is, and that's very scary...We were right in front of Hazama's rundown building, a place that was abandoned a while ago. It'd be great if he has some really good advice or intel on all this.
"[Hazama] *opens the door to us* Oh it's you two again. Something happened?"
"We need help with this big Villain crisis we've been dealing with. Do you have any info?"
"[Hazama] Info eh? It depends. Got any big names we're talkin'?"
"[Manami] Those other Villains you fought! Who were they?"
"[Hazama] Heh. I must've gotten carried away cuz I dunno. I made 'em all run away so fast. Well...Everyone expect this one guy. He actually spared me. The police and Best Jeanist were pretty close anyway."
"! Do you at least know him?"
"[Hazama] Not really, but he mentioned his first name being Idorama. He had a really mean Quirk on him."
"(Good! Maybe this is him!) Tell me! What could he do?"
"[Hazama] How do I put it...He seems to have two, actually. He could beef himself up instantly and he made me really weak...Specifically, it was attacking my muscles. I couldn't hold a damn thing."
"[Manami] *GASP* That's- That's horrible! Why would he wanna use a Quirk like that?!"
"(The fact that he's using it...And he's a Villain..) Hazama...If he just uses that on any of the Pros..He can just take them all out...Even if it's one by one..We have to stop him asap! That's just unfair!"
"[Hazama] Now I dunno if he was bluffing when he said this...But he told me he has another Quirk."
"! WHERE IS HE?! We have to find him immediately and-!"
"[Hazama] *slaps me* Losing your head won't get us anywhere. We gotta think here."
"[Manami] He's right...But what do we now?"
"[Hazama] My gang is out training for a few days. Though, a few called and told me that our numbers got halved cuz of these escaped Villains."
"Lemme guess..You want us to meet them and have 'em help us with our training?"
"[Hazama] Yeah, but time is ticking before Ido finds out where we're all hidin'. Imma have to rest here a bit more before I go back out to roll some heads. But listen...I got a lady that's running things with my gang while they're out and about. She's my second-in-command anyway."
"She got a name?"
"[Hazama] Shiroko. I'd be real careful around her though. Rumor has it that she's sisters with a Villain that's been on the run for a while. I aint close to her at all, and no one knows if she helps her sister out with anything."
"[Manami] Have...You seen her do anything with her sister..?"
"[Hazama] Nah. It's just that she never answers that question...Is there anything else you two gotta do before finding her and the boys?"
"There's just a set of equipment Bravami here ordered, and it'll take about two days to get here. Think you can help keep things down in this area til we get 'em?"
"[Hazama] *sighs, lights up a cigarette* I can only try. Who knows how tough it is out there now. Just whatever ya do, if you so much as see this guy, run like hell."
"Yeah...Both of us need to have our Quirks mastered by the time we try to fight him."
"[Manami] S-sounds like a plan...Ok. Thanks for helping" she told him before the two of us exited the building. It was 9:15pm and we both needed some time to recover from what happened today. We felt the time that we needed to get back to our homes was really close, so we decided that I was gonna walk Bravy home. Though...We really didnt want things to end off like this. Or go home in the first place, but knew that it was pretty necessary for our safety. He's right about keeping our heads. Pretty ironic coming from a guy that loves fighting eh? That's how bad things are, heheh...To think I was getting confident in us earlier. Now Im not sure how we'll beat this guy. We dont know why he's doing all this too..I look down and some uneasiness was showing on Manami's face too. "Hey..Do you..How've you been feeling?" I asked her, "Different...It's like everything is so different that it's scary..*looks up to me* But Im not too worried. I got you after all. As long as you pull through like you have, everything will be ok! ^^" she replied, "*pets her* Dont forget Imma need you to do the same too, shortcake. I cant do everything on my own, just like earlier with...Her = =...*sees her giggling* Anyway, you look like you're sorting things out too. Just take your time with it" I replied, "Yeah..Besides, we got Hazama's group and the Heroes that're trying to take care of the problem too. I know we still have to be careful if we act on our own but.." she was saying, "Look at it like this. It'll all be really toned down after we beat this guy and put him behind bars" I told her, "And if that happens...I think..I can really move on.." she said with a smile as she looked at the ground, "I'll make sure it was all thanks to us too. Not just me. I know I'll need as much help as I can get from you ^u^" I replied, putting a smile on her face too. As uplifting of a moment this was, something interrupted it. A gust suddenly blew hard and stopped us in our tracks. Huh? Who could this be? Dont tell me we have to fight now =v=. I look up and see a young girl standing above us, atop a building with the moon right behind her, holding her large hat. She was pretty hard to see, with her being dressed in all black, but I can tell she had her jacket open with some baggy pants. She then skated down the building. "(How's she doing that? Maybe she has anti-gravity?) *sees a guy run up to me with a charged fist, and someone else coming from an alley with a gun* ! (Where the hell did they come from?!)" I react, having very little time to do anything. Fired up, Manami jumped up and gives the guy in front of me a headbutt, knocking him away, "Good work, short-stuff! *turns to the other guy* But-! *sees him get throttled away from a sudden burst of speed and sees the girl slide past me; turns to her* (So fast!) Hey, who're you?!" I asked, "*sees the guy with the charging knuckle regain his footing* Just call me Crescent, now move! *sees me move to the side with my back to the wall* (Good!) *dashes past the opposition with a speedy bump, throwing him off balance* (Shoot! Running low already) *swings around a light pole and flings off of it towards him with a leg lifted up, giving him an axe kick; lands and spins around, kicking him hard in the head, knocking him out this way* A bit messy, but that'll do it" she said, "*sees her trying to skate off* Hey! Are you Shiroko by any chance?" I asked her, "*turns to me* Hmm? Pffft, as if I can compare to her. Wait! How do you know her? You aren't part of our gang!" Crescent asked with a skeptical face, "I've trained with Hazama before and we've been in contact ever since, k? He's only now told me about you guys..Would've been a bit handy if he mentioned more about you guys much sooner..- 3-" I comment and reply, "(Some leader he is..Did he mean for us to just fend for ourselves or what? oVo) Well if you're so curious, I can gather some wind in my feet and they can give me bursts of speed. The name's Kisawa, but Kisa is fine" she replied, "Speed eh? Say you're really good with your skates. Aint she, Bravy? *looks over to her and notices her holding her head in pain* Man...You must've hit him really hard huh? Uh mind helping us, Ki- *turn to Kisa but doesnt see her; hears some distant skating, snaps* Aw damn. Even without the wind, she's still fast. The corner was just a meter away too...Alright Bravy, c'mere" I said before helping her up.
Manami continued guiding us all the way to her house, and it was only 10 minutes away from where we were. As for my place..Not sure if I wanna walk aaaaalll the way back home on foo- Wait, I can always get a taxi. I sometimes forget about it being a thing. Kinda how I subconsciously save up on money ;p. "Oh and I almost forgot about the jobs you can see about doing. Wanna try them out tomorrow?" she asked, "Oh right, I really forgot about those ^▿^;" I replied, "I'll send 'em to you by email, ok? Just text me your address first" she told me, "*texts it to her* And there. By the way, as for me getting home, I'll just take a cab, alright?" I let her know, "O-ok then...And uhh..Did you wanna do anything tonight?...Together? /" she offered, "Together?..Oh that! Umm...C-can it wait tomorrow after this whole job thing? /u/" I asked back, "Oh s-sure, I can wait /u/...Sorry I asked../" she replied in an embarrassed manner, "Hey dont sweat it. I really like being with you too. Just need to take my mind off of things, ok? Yknow, on my own ^ ^" I said to her, "T-that's..F-fine. *walks in front of house* Waiting tomorrow won't hurt at all. Thanks for walking me all the way home ouo" Bravy then said before waving goodbye and stepping inside as I waved back. Unknowingly, I paced myself away from the area as fast as possible. Sure, I have feelings for her and all but we've been through alot today and she still really loves the last guy she's with, and I dont wanna go too fast on her with any of this. Sure she has a really nice bod and is really cute but Im not some perv that wants just jump into her or anything /! I have some decency, dammit! Pheeeew..But yeah. First things first. Lemme find a cab for a bit and I'll pull up the jobs she sent me. On my home, mom called and I updated her on a good amount of things that happened...At least the stuff that wouldn't worry her.
The night went and came, then the morning light was shinning in my face, waking me up. I got a decent amount of rest from my 8 hour nap and it's now 9am. This would give me plenty of time to go to those places!...Well wherever they are, I still need to look at the list she sent. "*comes in the room* Good morning, dear. How are you?" mom asked me with glee in her tone, "Oh Im great, mom. Just need a bit to eat and I'll feel even better ^^. Imma head out for these list of places a certain lil' shortcake. For jobs, yknow" I told her, "Aww how sweet of her. Let's hurry before someone beats you those positions, and tell her hi for me ^^" she replied, "I'll be sure, ma! *pockets my phone, walks out the door* Alright, Im off now, so later ouo" I said back and found myself outside in seconds. While I was strolling down the streets, my phone rattles in my pocket. when I opened it, a message popped up. "Heeeeey! It's been a while since you came 2 our favrit site 2 chat, dood! U didnt 4get about ur ol' bud Ukie, didja? U own me so cmon ovr asap! I'll sneak in ur house again if u dont! n u got rel mad bout it, remember? BTW met this hot chicky last night eWe cant wait 2 tell ya!" it read. Geez, you have to use all the character limits for that though? That's Shizaki Ukawa for ya. Ever since we were kids, you can always count on him to bother you. Even though I dont like that, he really helped me out as a friend in the past when people found out how dangerous my Quirk was...Now he doesnt have to worry much due to his Quirk, since he can become malleable and he can control his boiling and freezing point like this. I just wish he could help himself out as much with his money problems..You're usually broke and still never think about saving? He sure is a confusing guy -3-. Still, I'll visit after this is done.
On my way to this supermarket that's in plain sight now, I see a few screaming woman running out of it, and a muscular man comes out of it with a knife while running after one of them. That knife though...It cant be from that Jacker guy, could it?! "P-please run away! Im sorry! I cant stop! RUN!" he was shouting, "(He seems to not want to do it...Could he be possessed by it? Well no Heroes are around so I gotta do something!)" I thought to myself. One of the women tripped and his dagger drew him close to her, "*tries to move fingers but they won't respond* You have to get up! Someone help! Ruuuun! *suddenly slows down and freezes up* Brrrrg, w-where'd that come from?!" he reacted, "*walks up to him* Security must be on break or something. *looks at his knife* (If my hunch is right...) *takes the knife out of his hand, and a person morphs out of it, unconsciously landing on his back* He was already out cold? Even weirder...Hey man, are you ok now?" I asked him, "*feels my hand on back, is dethawed by me* Phew..I got control back...I knew there was something fishy about him giving a knife for free" he said to himself, "Good. Now lemme get back to applying here" I said before stepping inside. The clerk saw me coming up and I told him that I wanted to work. I guess he was in a good mood today cuz he was willing to put in a good word for me, helped me fill out the application to be another clerk and some other paperwork to be a store associate. Wanted to ask if I could be an A/C unit for them but even that sounded too silly for me ^^;...
I walked back outside, feeling really good about dropping off my forms. Once I get to Ukie's place, Imma make sure to tell him to try this with me. It'd be perfect if me and him work here together ^u^! As long as he doesnt goof up and knock alot of food down or crash into people. Alright, now I gooooot a restaurant, vet assistant at a pet store, pool cleaner and a gas station as an attendant...I really like pets, so pet store here I come ^^! "Heheheheee! Let's see him handle this!" said an assailant unknown to me from above a building, "*walks away from the premises then hears a gunshot* ! (Is someone trying to shoot me?! Now?!) *turns to where I heard the gunshot, seeing the bullet in a split second, instinctively putting my hands in front of me* (If I can just concentrate the air in front of me...!) *very cold air collects around my chest, close to my heart, but feels the bullet punch into my chest, knocking me down* GAAAUHH! (Dammit! It actually hit me!...Wait..) *picks the bullet up, out of my shirt* A blank...? Who would.. *hears another gunshot coming from the other side, seeing the car this time, putting a hand out in that direction* (Cmooon! FREEZE! NOW!) *makes a block of ice appear and encompass my hand, making the bullet bounce off of it from it's really high density* (Good!) *watches that hand drop like a rock* (For an instant too I made sure the around it could just have more and more layers, but thankfully my outermost layer was hard enough for it) *gets up, seeing surrounding people flee the scene and looks around* (Who was trying to shoot me anyway? It's like Im being hunted...Unless!) Jacker! If you're there, show yourself!" I shouted, "*drives through the parking lot, almost hitting someone* You're real interesting, kid. Cant wait to see what you do about this" he said while laughing, revving up his car as he was 7 meters away, facing me. "(We'll see how strong this unique fire-ice Quirk of your's is. With how unstable it is, I'd want to get rid of you asap) *gets kicked across the face by someone zipping by, knocked away from the ledge, coughs blood while standing up* Who..! Who did that?!" Genius shouted, "*slides in from the side in front of him* Sorry Im late! Someone like you is hard to keep track of you! *points at him* A certain Phoenix man told the right girl for this, cuz Im here to take you in!" Miruko said to him with a big grin on her face, making his eyes widen. "(Quick! I have to bulk up and fast before she lands a kick!) *sees her make a big leap forward, shooting this way* (Within this time, I'll only have 1/5th of my maximum output!) *catches her foot, creating a big shock wave, strong enough to crack the floor below, with the arm spurting blood in several places* You...! Damn bitc-" he was about to say, but he gets axe kicked on his head from her other leg that was faster than what he could react to, busting him through the floor and making him fall on his back on the second highest floor. Miruko lands in front of him, crouched over him even with that big excited smile of her's. "You're not bad! Wanna go a bit more before you're out cold? *feels a book land on head* Hmm o o? The hell's this about?" she asked, taking it off of her, "It's my little trump card...!" Genius said with a sly smile, "Huh? How's tha- *feels whole body pulsate, again and again, with series of internal quakes; stands up while backing away, staggering left and right* (W..What's..Happening..?) *arms drop and then quickly drops to knees* Im...Feeling weak..?" she pondered, "Heheheheheheheeeh! You're in the grasp of my Quirk, Number 5 Hero!" he said, "What..Could it be?! Poison? System shocking?" she guessed, "You're getting there! I have two Quirks! Muscle Atrophy...And one for the mind. Muscle-Mental Atrophy! This depends on how much I read from my books! This is all in one Quirk I have...! *gets up, puts a hand on an arm, makes it incredibly muscular* Muscle Control! I can make my body up to 1000 times stronger than before! As you can see, Im pretty effective at using both at the same time..*runs in, winds up big arm* And you're about to see that, first hand!" Genius shouts with a crazy smile, "*puts on a damaged grin* Try...Me.. euo" she told him. When he was about a foot away from landing a massive punch to her face as she defenselessly sat there, our Villain finds out he made a very slight oversight from what she told him. "ANNIHILATING PHOENIX!" he heard from above, and for a split second, he looked up, seeing Jiki already engulfed in his own big ball of flames, and made a great explosion upon impact, taking out several floors of the big building.
Hearing the boom in the distance, I turned my gaze behind me, seeing a massive explosion occur at the top of this building, and I see a woman flying out of it. "! (I have to get through this guy quickly so I can try to save her!)" I thought to myself, "(Good, now he's distracted! Time to slam the ga-) *car is suddenly pushed to the left from a quick but powerful attack* WHAT THE HELL?! WHO DID THAT?! *sees a girl that kicked the door in from above before she hopped off of it* It was...SOME GIRL?!" Jacker reacts, "! *looks back at him, seeing the passenger side of his car caved in* Whoa! Who could do that much damage?! OoO" I reacted, "*lands in the distance* There! That should do it. *turns to me, still seeing his car coming my way* HEY! He's still coming for you!" the girl shouted at me, "(This crazy bastard!) *jumps back, putting a hand out while holding it's arm, building a mass of ice in front* (Concentrate! Focus it all in one point. FREEZE!)" I told myself in my head, "*sees a sudden big block of ice* (Im afraid you'll need bit more than that for me when Im at 85mph, big man!) *busts through the ice block but only sees a wall of embers* Huh?! Where'd he-! *hears a thud above* Is he on top of my car? He's lucky I cant move like this!" he said, "*is above him in the air for a second as he keeps moving forward* (Good thing I made that explosion strong enough to lift me. Now I need to just attach this and...!)" I was thinking some more to myself, dropping upside-down with both hands out, solidifying the air between where I am and where his car is, starting from his roof, taking alot of my focus. "*sees the inner roof and the door starting to freeze up* Huh?! B-but how's he doing this!? I cant see and-! *looks to the right and left, seeing both arms are freezing up on the wheel* AAGGGHHHH-!" he was screaming before I completely froze all of the car while a beam of ice was chained somewhat above it, shifting with me as my head was a few inches off of the ground. I break my arms free of the beam as it was still attached to the car, flopping my back on the ground. The girl walked up to me and stood over me.
"[?] You sure barely got away with whatever you were doing, huh?"
"You can say that again...- =;;; Say...Who're you anyway?"
"[?] Im unregistered but I do wanna be a Hero myself real soon. For now, Im with Hazama's gang, and no one knows this, but Im also being trained by Miruko. Dont tell anyone, ok?"
"Is that right...Well, especially with that help you gave me there, I owe ya this much..I needed a bit of time to come up with that lil plan there...And..This might be the first time using my Quirk got me tired.."
"[?] The lot of us are hanging at this harbor building a few miles from here. We dont mind helping you out with that."
"Much appreciated..Miss...Uhh..Name?"
"[?] Emiko. I'll be 13 next week."
"*notices her skates shoes* (Skates...Wait a minute) *sits up* Are you...Related to Crescent by any chance?"
"[Emiko] ! Since when'd you meet her?"
"Literally last night. Saved my hide too."
"[Emiko] Well...Im more closely taught by her than Miruko...e e"
"Oh. So I guess you really have your own advantage in the group too, huh? ^ ^"
"[Emiko] It gets me ahead. U U"
"Then what was that Quirk? You really totaled that side of the car there."
"[Emiko] I have two. The Kinesis Kick and Surface Cling. I stick somewhere and depending on how much distance is between me and my target, I can do alot of damage. So I wouldn't do nearly as much as I did in this area compared to back there."
"Back where?"
"[Emiko] *points up behind* I was on the building in the way of where that explosion was for that building much further back. While I was Clinging, I slowly made my way around this building and tried my kick out from there with the right enough angle."
"You must've really been hit the books, huh? I wish I was smart as you at your age ^ ^."
"[Emiko] I was able to get into physics early but I think anyone can figure this out. I'll say that distance was about 700ft that time."
"You've kept track like that?"
"[Emiko] L-look, you have somewhere to be? I kinda need to go back to the group now. - -"
"Well I do need to save that girl I saw fly out of that building..Uh oh."
"[Emiko] (...If that was Jiki...o.o!) UGH YOU'RE TOO RELAXED NOW! THAT COULD BE MIRUKO YKNOW! O"
"*sees her use her Kinesis Kicks to dash and zip around, skating along buildings on their walls; gets up* Well I'll her handle that..Im..Still a bit tired but I think i can make it.."
"[Mikura] *sees me limping forward* ! (How lucky can I get today? He's actually really weakened right now..I could take him out now..Genius told me how dangerous he can be..) *looks at the frozen car* (...I'll get him when he really has his guard down) *runs to me* Hey! Is that you from the restaurant, Frosty? You dont look so hot!"
"*turns to her* Oh hey Merku, I'll be fine! What timing to see you here though ^ ^."
"[Mikura] Yeah, I was about to change into my Hero costume after getting released early. If I go as Guku and in a different outfit, ya think anyone will tell the difference?"
"I doubt it, but I won't tell anyone, k? Gyuh! *falls over on a knee* I must've bumped my knee hard on the car a minute ago.. "
"[Mikura] S-sit tight alright? I should have first-aid in my backpack. *looks around, seeing everyone's ran away and no Heroes* (Good good, this should be easy now ewe)"
"*sees my knee bleeding* Hopefully you can fire it, cuz it's a bit of a nasty- *hears a spewing noise* ! *sees some gray liquids shooting my way as I turned around, jumps to the right, gets the whole right arm, leg and side get covered the hot mercury* WAAAAAAUUGHHH!" I shouted in great pain as my skin was boiling and popping from the intense burns. I...Gotta get this stuff off of me..I-if I can..I can..Maybe get Suzaki's help...Or Bravy's...Anyone! As I moved, the stuff hardened and made it more difficult to move while still burning me. I...I cant seem to freeze it off..And heating it will just make it worse! I cant do anything to it! "*walks up to me* Hmmhmhhmmm, having some trouble? Mercury has a much higher boiling point and the freezing point is much lower than some think...But y'see...My mercury is exponentially higher than even that!
