As it happened in other realities, Hiro and Hector were doing what they love best, showing their love of anime and doing so in the most fabulous manner possible by dressing and acting as the characters of different anime, they got it down so well that they began to become famous in anime conventions and the organizers felt like hiring them to attend along other actors who pretended to be characters from the anime they were doing a convention about, or even when they were doing an exposition to announce a new game to adoring gamers.
Unlike most others, these two did not simply act to pretend to be the anime characters they pretended to be like the other actors, they went further and actually behaved as if they were in fact these characters. To the people attending one of these anime conventions, these two friends simply were not there at all, they were the two characters they said they were. Flawlessly talking and expressing themselves as if they were indeed these fictional characters, that is why they were so loved, they made people feel like their favorite anime characters had walked through the screen their favorite anime and into the real world, and these anime fans loved that it felt like they could spend time with the characters they loved so much.
They have done a lot of conventions and in some, they went as Goku and Vegeta, in others, they went as Superman and Lex Luthor, it was a blast for people to see Superman walking with Lex Luthor and basically arguing sometimes, but most of the times having fun answering and interacting with conventioneers as the actual character would. One of them once asked Lex Luthor why he stood anywhere near Superman, to which much to that woman's shock he told her, that he grew up in the same small town as Superman, he might not like this constant interference with his plans, but deep down Superman was one of his most important and frequent aid to his plans, to which Hiro still as Superman told him that was not fair.
These sorts of interactions made them believable, and to the people organizing these conventions there was no better publicity than this, they promoted games in the same manner too. Some would say that the superhero gaming genre is boring and dead, so why have it go on anyway, thanks to the efforts of these two people realized that the characters in the anime and games when they looked at it deep down, were people, with powers and abilities true, but it didn't change the fact they were people.
The current convention was an attempt to promote a brand new Bleach Game and Hiro and Hector were hired to pretend to be Ichigo Kurosaki and Uryu Ichida, these two knew the characters so well thanks to their love of the Bleach anime, games, and manga. They went further and even had replica physical weapons made, the iconic weapons that these two characters used in the anime no less. So essentially Hiro showed up holding a massive sword that even Sephiroth would have called a bit excessive, and Hector showed up wearing so much white and holding a bow with a quiver of arrows that looked like they were made of crystals which somehow strapped to his belt.
One of the people in the convention saw these two walking around and asked them why they chose to dress up as Uryu and Ichigo, Kenpachi or Urahara could have been more fun, this made Hiro start laughing as Ichigo would have if he heard something like that, Uryu as serious as ever looked at the person, "What do you mean dress up? I am Uryu Ichida, and the laughing mess that is my cousin is Ichigo Kurosaki, honestly Kurosaki why do you stand for his level of disrespect?"
Hector as Ichigo went to his friend, "Look around you Cousin, these people are pretending to be people we know, of course, they are going to think we are like them, so relax, take a chill pill will you, and have some fun, no need to go overboard thanks to you feeling they insulted your precious Quincy pride!"
Hector looked at him pushing his glasses back up much like Uryu would have done and began shaking his head, "I suppose you are right, after all, look what Orihime is wearing, I've never seen her wear anything that daring or revealing, she is of ten more shy and demure. So clearly these are not like the people we know." Hiro still in his Ichigo persona looked at Orihime, and had to admit she was wearing something daring alright, something Rangiku would wear in less than a heartbeat but Orihime?
He walked over to her while she was having a conversation with another person attending the convention and he smiled, taking a chance and simply being near her did something as Ichigo would do, he smiled, "Hey Orihime. Got to tell you, you look beautiful today." The young woman blushed and in a much-expected reaction she simply kissed Ichigo on the cheek telling him, "Thank you Ichi." This made some of the convention people laugh as they were actually seeing their beloved anime characters actually be among them as real and living people.
One of the people attending decided to put Hector on the spot and asked him why he called Ichigo his cousin, trying to make him embarrassed when he could not answer in the way that Uryu in the anime would, but instead in a very serious and stoic manner, he looked at the young man. "Why do I call Kurosaki Cousin, he is my Cousin, his mother is a Quincy, and sister to my Father, so yes Kurosaki there is my Cousin, and sometimes a little more annoying than I can stand but at the end of the day, he is still family. Does that answer your question or does anyone else have a question for me and my cousin, as Quincy I don't back away from a challenge, not now, not ever."
One of the people present said if they are really the people they clearly pretend to be why not show everyone something memorable, something exciting to prove they are actually Ichigo and Uryu and not some people paid to pretend to be them. Ichigo began to smile as he heard these words and he walked onto a small platform and took a stance any fan of Bleach would recognize, as he held his massive sword, and while pointing his sword in the manner he was so used to simply said one word, Bankai.
The air pressure increased the air felt charged with energy as the lights went out for a second and in a matter of seconds his clothes and sword transformed into his Bankai Form, the crowd screamed in excitement as they saw him do some moves only Ichigo could ever pull off and didn't even looked tired like he had done them a million times. A man who looked like a man dressed as Captain Isshin was only shaking his head as he saw what had happened. The crowd even many of the people pretending to be these actors were called to actually come together for a large Q&A session where they each sat down behind his large long table as if they were going to be interviewed, and that is exactly what happened.
The convention goers were excited and asked them many questions they were simply dying to ask if they could talk to the characters of their beloved anime, Ichigo was as friendly and upbeat as possible, but he did say some things that made the poor woman pretend to be Orihime blush three shades of red, but it was expected when he was asked if he was happy with his marriage with Orihime, in a much Ichigo fashion he grinned and said he would have it no other way, he loved his wife, and their precious little boy.
One of the people attending decided to put Uryu on the spot saying he clearly being so emo and distant would never actually have a girlfriend much less get married, Uryu looked at the woman and in a much Uryu fashion he pushed up his glasses and looked at her, "Actually I did get married and had three daughters, thank goodness my wife Nemu was not hear or else she would have not been happy to hear you say that. Yes, my wife may have been created in a lab in Soul Society, but that nonetheless makes her any less the woman whom I love very much and mother to our precious little girls. She just happens to like the fact I focus on my work, much like she does."
The man dressed as Mayuri Kurotsuchi looked at him when he said, "Yeah, you keep saying that, but I have yet to be introduced to these precious granddaughters of mine. You have a lot of nerve bragging about them in front of the grandfather who has never even been allowed to meet those three girls, and you will not even tell me WHY!" Uryu looked at the man still wearing that lousy makeup and wearing extravagant version of a Captain's uniform before he decided to answer since everyone was asking them questions why not.
"Honorable Father-In-Law, the reason my wife Nemu, the love of my life, never introduced you to our daughters is simple, you are always busy with your research, and she simply has no time to introduce you to our daughters, she is extremely busy organizing and keeping everything in those research projects to in order to do that. As for me personally, I don't want you to be with my girls alone because I think you will want to experiment and study them as lab test subjects. No father alive would want that to happen to their daughters, so I am justified for my reluctance."
Many fathers in the audience could not help but nod in absolute agreement upon hearing what Uryu said, yes, no father would want their children used like that like they were nothing more than research materials. Mayuri looked down and was almost depressed when he heard him say that until he walked over to him and took something from his coat pocket, handed it to him, "But you can look at a family picture, I am not heartless." As Mayuri saw the picture and smiled.
The woman who said that was shocked to hear that Uryu and that homunculus were actually happily married. Many of the people in the audience asked more and more questions that they would never get to learn from either the Manga or Anime from the other people present during this Q&A session. Kenpachi was practically the one who shocked them all by telling them that in fact, he had gotten in touch with his sword, they made up for lost time and became rather close. In fact, he managed to unlock all of the other forms including Bankai as he is at the end of the day a Captain.
"In reality I have Ichigo to thank for being able to do that, I always considered my sword to be nothing more than a tool, a simple sword, how wrong I was, and he proved it by beating me up when he and his friends went and did the impossible, stopped the mistake of trying to execute Rukia for something she was later found out to be innocent of." One of the men asked why doesn't show his Bankai then, Kenpachi laughed and said he would love to, in fact he thinks his Bankai is rather impressive but that could be him being biased, but the real reason is that as a Captain, if he did show his Bankai Form, the level of destruction it would cause would kill everyone in the city, so of course he could not do that.
He did however walk over to the platform where Ichigo had used to take his Bankai Form and perform the Shikai Release, the sword that had been cracked and looked like an unkept piece of junk changed, and so did his clothes, until they took a form only Manga readers would know which in truth caused the platform to be looked like it was put through a blender as it collapsed into dust as soon as he did the Shikai Release.
As this was happening a pair of men wearing garish masks came into the convention center firing their weapons against the very displays and even the game consoles that were prepared to show off the new game that was being introduced in the convention, both men laughing like absolute maniacs while they destroyed everything that even looked interesting on the convention floor, until the people at the part where they began to hear the gunshots, at first they thought they were firecrackers, but soon enough people could tell they were shots from an assault rifle, people began to panic, trying to find a way out of the convention center to save their own lives.
Hector stood up and looked at them with a serious expression, "You and the others need to calm down, panic is what the ones doing this want, they want you to panic and act like animals to hurt each other, so calm down, both I and Hiro will go out of this room and we will buy you enough time for everyone to escape, the back of this room has a fire exit door. So calm down and exit one at a time no need to trample anyone."
Hiro was already holding his sword by the time they were walking towards the door that led to the convention floor, one person looked scared and looked at them both with tears in her eyes, asking why are they not scared? Both Hiro and Hector laughed and said that compared to Hollows those crooks would be easy to deal with. So there is no need to be afraid she and everyone else will be safe in the end. "You just had to say that to her, didn't you?" Hector asked Hiro as they walked through the door and slammed it shut.
"You know me, I don't like to see women cry. So you really think many people are shooting up the place or do you know how many there are." Hector closed his eyes and began to feel the energy around them found only two that smelled and felt wrong, like these two were so rotten even the sewers smelled nice by comparison. "Only two, but they are shooting up the place so badly, if we don't stop them they will cause the entire convention center to burn down, why are the sprinklers not activating yet, I can smell several booths already in flames."
That was strange Hiro got the whiff of smoke as soon as Hector said that and it made him think the fire was not a small one to produce smoke with enough volume that they could smell it. "So either burns the people alive or causes them to choke on the smoke, these people are even worse than the Joker." As they began to walk towards where the smell of smoke was coming from they saw the two masked people and for some strange reason they felt oddly familiar, like they were seeing a twisted version of themselves.
Almost like they could tell what they were thinking one of them began to laugh in a dark and almost manic tone, "Why so serious? I think we should take a knife and put a smile on those faces of yours." Hector loaded an arrow in his bow and was ready to fire when Ichigo dashed and with a simple movement, he kept the other maniac from trying to shoot at Uryu Hiro was holding him at bay by hitting the weapon he was holding which was something both Hector and Hiro knew was a popular and preferred weapon of maniacs that do mass shootings. By hitting the weapon the way he did Hiro kept making it hard for the maniac to properly aim so even if he shot, the maniac was sure to miss.
Taking this as a chance to strike he stopped his bow in such a way that the arrow did not hit the person rather it went into the barrel of the maniac's rifle, causing something the maniac did not even think was possible, causing his weapon to first jam and when the man tried to fire the weapon time after time, the blockage in the rifle would not prevent the bullet from firing but rather it would cause the bullet to explode. If this was a matter of luck or simply the misfortune of their enemy, the rifle was made useless, the one maniac wearing that disgusting smiling mask simply tossed his partner his own rifle and took hold of his dagger from his belt.
"What can I say, when I kill people I rather do it personally unlike my friend who doesn't care how but rather that they do die. Tell me have you two ever danced with the devil under the pale moonlight? You don't have to answer, this is simply something I ask all my victims, nobody has ever answered now that I think of it." Hector was tired of the way these two maniacs were going on with the tired and boring cliches and old one-liners. So he decided to ask this maniac one question who the hell were they to do this?
This finally had an effect on the maniacs as one who was still loading bullets into the rifle his partner gave him began to laugh, "You would ask that wouldn't you Hector, you want to know who we are, how very touching of you to ask, and since you decided to be ever so kind to ask I will tell you. We know each other better than you think, I am you, and my partner is Hiro, not the ones from his reality goodness knows we could not be such goody two shoes even if we tried, let's just say that if reality was a coin, you and your friend are one side, and we are the opposite side of that coin."
Hiro upon hearing said that he simply told Hector that it was like they were the twisted mirror image of themselves if what this nutcase was true. That is when they both removed their masks and that is when they saw the faces of these two maniacs, these maniacs looked like Hiro and Hector except they had some rather nasty scars and burns on their faces making them think that they must come from a much darker version of their universe to produce maniacs like them.
"My name is Zector and the one that is using the dagger is my friend and partner in crime Ziro. We simply go from one reality to the next trying to find our preferred prey, and that just happens to be you and Hiro, we have killed so many versions of you it is not even funny, you have ever seen a movie called The One, well something like that, except we are trying to kill all the different versions of ourselves, till we are the only ones that remain." Ziro laughed as his partner said that, and decided to tell them that they actually shut down the sprinkler system even before they entered the convention center, the fact is they knew that if they put the lives of those stupid sheep, both Hiro and Hector would rush in where they were and would try to buy the others enough time to get to safety.
"You two always try to be the heroes that save the poor unfortunate souls that you consider ever so innocent, your goodie two-shoes way of doing things makes me want to vomit, but it never fails to draw you like moths to a flame, and we killed so many different versions of ourselves it is not even funny. You two are going to die, and even if we do die, we have the backing of someone much more powerful so even if you succeed you are only delaying the inevitable anyway, so why not do us a favor and just Die, it would make both Ziro and I ever so happy if you did."
Hiro was getting sick and tired of this and learning that this was a negative version of his friend did not make matters any better, or at least it shouldn't. As Zector was getting ready to shoot at him, Hiro used his sword to slash at him cutting the hand that was holding the rifle completely off, causing blood to spray as the hand and the rifle fell on the ground. Zector was shocked to see that Hiro could actually do that saying this was not something a goodie two shoes would do.
Hiro sheathed his sword and walked over to the weapon he tossed the hand which was still attached to the handle of the rifle and loaded the first shot as he looked at Zector, "Good, Bad, who cares, I am the guy with the gun!" Without any future banter or even giving Zector a chance to beg for mercy Hiro shot him once to the balls and last but not least up close to the head, blowing his skull clean off. Apparently, Ziro was not expecting this at all, any attempt at humor died when he saw his partner in crime get killed like that, by the supposed heroic version of himself. He essentially just saw himself kill his best friend.
"You were not supposed to even consider that Hiro, if you are not going to play by the rules, you know what, fuck it. I am taking you two fucking idiots with me if it is the last thing I do in this crappy world. Not that it matters, nothing really does, I will be back and so will Zector and we will continue to kill different versions of ourselves, so other versions of you will see us it is only a matter of time." As he said this the maniac they knew as Ziro did something that neither Hiro nor Hector were expecting, with a quick pull on a piece of string, he pulled off the pins of a dozen grenades that he had strapped to his belt. Ziro immediately ran to where the two were and as he came near he had a creepy smile before the grenades all exploded killing Ziro, Hiro, and Hector their bodies were blown to pieces in the explosion, which also caused part of the roof to fall off which somehow cause the plug to the water line to become undone, and the sprinklers finally turned on and swiftly put out the fire inside the convention center.
Days later the incident was reported on the news, and the survivors decided to ask that both Hiro and Hector be given a funeral worthy of heroes of their caliber because to them and the other actors that were working in that anime convention both of these young men were in fact the heroes that saved their lives.
As Hiro and Hector found themselves once again in the white realm that they could only consider Heaven, they met a man whom they knew very well, the Soul King. "Well boys, I got to tell you, that the way you jumped in to save the innocent people in that convention center made me feel quite proud of you two, and the way Hiro shot that rifle made me both cringe and laugh very hard."
Hiro immediately asked if them being where they were means they finally get to pass on and go to essentially heaven? "You two are going to an alternate version of this reality you were in, one where the Bleach universe has merged with one that is even stranger, one based on an anime I only heard of recently called Rosario X Vampire. You are going to that reality to stop a group that ironically or sadistically calls themselves Fairy Tale, their goal is the complete and utter destruction and death of their entire universe. You two are getting reincarnated into that universe as Ichigo and Uryu and with your knowledge, you should be able to save many people who otherwise met a gruesome end."
Hiro was confused since the Soul King essentially broke the fourth wall like it was nothing that special. He asked him who told him of his universe being based on something that others considered fiction and about that other universe? The Soul King laughed hearing him say, "The goddess you two serve came to me long ago and told me all about this. I often found you two more skilled and powerful than an ordinary Soul Reaper and a Quincy, but after she told me everything about you two, we sometimes talked. She told me where you are going to go next, and since you will be back in the form of people from my reality, I felt I should be here to tell you this."
The Soul King reveals to them that every individual male with powers has a twin sister and because of this each twin male and female possesses even greater strength than they would have had if they were born a single child and the women that don't have twin brother's trained harder to be stronger. He then presents them with two Hogyoku orbs - one gold, named Claire, and one silver, named Irene. In this world, all magic, items, and spells from D&D exist but are considered lost arts that must be rediscovered. The same goes for monsters. If they manage to find these lost treasures, they will prove to be invaluable. Your journey began when Ichigo was just eight years old.
